Darlene 'Dar' McGreal
Darlene "Dar" McGreal, 58, died Friday in a local hospital.
The body will be cremated. Arrangements are being made by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. McGreal was born in Niles, Mich., where she graduated from Niles High School in 1957, and attended Michigan State University. She married Austin B. McGreal in 1977 in Clearwater, Fla., and was a retired paralegal. She moved to Abilene in 1996 from Florida. She was a member of Largo Bicentennial Sertoma Club and was a past club president and Sertoman of the Year. She also was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and was a Methodist.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; two sons, Donald B. Simpson of Oldsmar, Fla., and Steven A. McGreal of Ocala, Fla.; two daughters, Patricia J. Simoes of Abilene and Diane E. Bettiol of Atlanta; one sister, Daundra Jo Baker of Benton Harbor, Mich.; and nine grandchildren.

Violet Dorothy Oliveri
Violet Dorothy Oliveri, 72, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
The body will be cremated. Services are pending with Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Ms. Oliveri was born in Rahway, N.J., and worked as a dancer and waitress. She managed a dry cleaning business before retiring. She moved to Abilene in 1994 and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors include one son, Frank J. Toms of Abilene; one sister; and one grandson, Damon Toms of Abilene.

Robert Elgin Herrington
Robert Elgin Herrington, 84, bus driver for Greyhound Bus Co. for 32 years before retiring, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in First Central Presbyterian Church with Dr. Clifford S. Stewart and the Rev. Scott Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Herrington was born in Bradshaw and attended school in Bradshaw, Moro and Guion, all in Taylor County. He married Clyde McKee in 1936 in Abilene and was a member of Masonic Lodge 559 and First Central Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, the Rev. James Robert Herrington of Newark, Del.; one daughter, Mary Ann Teague of Houston; three sisters, Doris M. Brooks of Hillsboro, Naomi Horton of Eastland and Betty Jean Leonard of Gustine, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

George Campbell
HAMLIN -- George E. Campbell, 82, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Central Baptist Church with the Revs. James Brigham and Red Chamberlin officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin East Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. Campbell was born in Taylor County and moved to the Hamlin area in 1920. He graduated from Hamlin High School in 1936 and married Lucille Clark in 1937 in Hamlin. He worked for 45 years as a plant comptroller for Plasterco, Celotex and Three Rivers Gypsum companies before retiring in 1980. He was a former Hamlin city councilman and manager of the Hamlin Little League. He was a director of Hamlin Senior Citizens. He was a longtime member of Hamlin Lions Club and was a former club secretary and treasurer. He was a deacon at Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Hamlin; two daughters, Ruby Campbell Carter of Hamlin and Minna Baxter of North Richland Hills; two brothers, Frank Campbell of Houston and Lester Campbell of Orangeville, Calif.; one sister, Dorothy Millsap of Abilene; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to American Heart Association, 149 N. Willis, Abilene 79603.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Thomas Aycock
COLORADO CITY -- Thomas M. Aycock, 75, died Friday in San Angelo.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Colorado City Cemetery with the Rev. Ken Baker officiating, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Aycock was born in Colorado City and served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater during World War II. He moved to Colorado City in 1960 and retired from civil service at Dyess Air Force Base. He was a Presbyterian.
Survivors include his mother, Annie Aycock of Colorado City; one brother, Robert Aycock Jr. of Colorado City; two sisters, Mary Smith of Crane and Elizabeth Gallegos of Memphis, Tenn.; and seven nieces and nephews.

Verbenia Matlock Smith
BROWNWOOD -- Verbenia Matlock Smith, 92, of Round Rock and formerly of Brownwood, died Thursday in Taylor.
Services were held Saturday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Yost officiating. Burial was in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born in Hunt County and was a homemaker. She moved to Round Rock in 1986. She was a member of Austin Avenue Church of Christ and was the widow of Denny William Conner.
Survivors include one son, Jerry D. Conner of Round Rock; one daughter, Christine Briscoe of Detroit, Texas; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Thelma Watson
CISCO -- Thelma Watson, 94, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Kimbrough Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Ferguson officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Watson was born in Cisco and started working for Southwestern Bell as a telephone operator in 1918. She married Eugene Rhey Watson in 1923 in Cisco and was a homemaker. She was a Nazarene.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Farnsworth of Cisco and Charlene Campbell of Cedar Hill; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Eddie Crockett
BROWNWOOD -- Eddie M. Crockett, 62, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Crockett was born in San Saba and lived in Brownwood most of her life. She married Weldon L. Crockett in San Angelo and was a homemaker. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, of Brownwood; one son, Mark D. Crockett of Carrollton; two daughters, Deborah L. Taylor of Payne Springs and Jeanine Brooks of Austin; her mother, Earline Edmiston of Brownwood; one sister, Ann Hinson of Coppell; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Martin Soliz
ROTAN -- Martin Soliz, 68, employed by the U.S. Postal Service since 1974, died Friday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Rotan First Baptist Church with the Rev. Werth Mayes officiating. Burial will be in Hobbs Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mr. Soliz was born in Fisher County and married Dorothy Shanks in 1950 in Seguin. He operated Martin's Grocery for 11 years and was a farmer. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Rotan; one son, James M. Soliz of Rotan; one daughter, Donna Givens of Loraine; one sister, Clita Herrera of Sweetwater; one foster brother, Frank Soliz of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
