Lola Mae Sharp
RULE -- Lola Mae Sharp, 64, Rule school cafeteria manager from 1975-96, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rule Church of Christ with John Greeson officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Robison Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Sharp was born in Rule and married Melvin Sharp in 1951 in Rochester. She worked at the Rochester school cafeteria from 1969-74. She taught Sunday school at the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Rule; two sons, Gary Sharp of Snyder and Randy Sharp of Abilene; one daughter, Karan McCure of Lubbock; three brothers, Duyane Hindsley of Corpus Christi, Donald Hindsley of San Angelo and Leo Hindsley of Murray, Ky.; and seven grandchildren.

Gladys Taylor
COLEMAN -- Gladys B. Taylor, 91, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Gouldbusk Cemetery.
Mrs. Taylor was born in Heidenheimer in Bell County and moved to Coleman County as a child. She attended Mary Hardin-Baylor College and taught school in Brown Ranch in Coleman County and also in New Mexico and Odessa. She moved to Coleman in 1974 from Fisk. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and First Baptist Church, and was the widow of Hubert E. Taylor, whom she married in 1930.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Hubert Taylor of Coleman and Lawrence "Ray" Taylor of San Angelo; one daughter, Patricia McIntyre of Fort Stockton; one sister, Lazelle South of Miami, Texas; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Olga Alvis
ROCHESTER -- Olga M. Alvis, 89, of Oklahoma City and formerly of Rochester, died Sunday after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Rochester First Baptist Church, directed by Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Alvis was born in Hartley and married Truett Alvis in 1937. She started the first kindergarten program in Rochester in 1957. She operated it until it became a part of the Rochester school district and then taught in the district until retiring in 1976. She moved to Oklahoma City in 1990. She taught children's Sunday school and Vacation Bible School classes at Rochester First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three children, Sydna Ball of Round Rock, Mary Lue Eastmond of Oklahoma City and Bill Alvis of Vienna, Va.; one sister, Charlene Stagg of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Odie McCoy
BROWNWOOD -- Odie J. McCoy, 100, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Kenneth Green and Lloyd Hagemeier officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. McCoy was born at Indian Creek and worked as a foreman for Santa Fe Railroad for 47 years in Cleburne until retiring. He then returned to Brownwood. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and was a member of Brownwood Masonic Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Shriners, and Friendly Fellows Sunday School Class at Central United Methodist Church. He was the widower of Amy Perry McCoy, whom he married in 1917 in Brownwood; and Annie Reynolds McCoy, whom he married in 1967.
Survivors include three stepdaughters, Nell Beavers of Greensboro, N.C., Natalie Harrison of San Antonio and Anita Hamilton of Austin; two brothers, Kyle McCoy and Raymond McCoy, both of Brownwood; one sister, Vela Posey of Brownwood; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Geneva Bostick
ROSCOE -- Geneva Bostick, 70, died Monday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Roscoe First Baptist Church with the Revs. Rick Willis and Lyndel Hix officiating. Burial will be in Round Mountain Cemetery north of Roscoe, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bostick was born in Sweetwater and married John S. Bostick in 1948 in Rotan. She moved to Odessa in 1950 and worked as a switchboard operator for Medical Center Hospital and Burlington Northern. She returned to Roscoe in 1990. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Roscoe; one daughter, Dianna Heady of Roscoe; two sons, John S. Bostick Jr. of Odessa and Mack Bostick of Leander; her mother, Maggie Bowen of Sweetwater; one sister, Minnie Rose of Sweetwater; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

L.A. Sparks
ROTAN -- L.A. Sparks, 89, lifelong area resident, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rotan Church of Christ with J.J. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Rotan Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mr. Sparks was born in Stonewall County and married Jane Sutton in 1934 in Tipton, Okla. He was a farmer and rancher. He served on the Fisher County Tax Board of Equalization and was a Rotan school trustee for seven years. He was a member of Fisher County Sheriff's Posse, American Hereford Association, Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association and Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Rotan; one son, Laurence W. Sparks of Rotan; one daughter, Norma Jean Gibson of Emporia, Kan.; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and one great-niece and one great-nephew.

Judy Miller
Judy Wilene Miller, 40, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Bible Chapel Church with Don Woods officiating. Burial will be in Eula Cemetery, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Miller was born in Phoenix, Ariz., and grew up in Graham. She moved to Abilene in 1979 and married Jerry Miller in Stamford. She worked as a truck driver for 18 years, including two for Trans-Western Trucking Co. She was a member of Bible Chapel Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; two sons, Jason Kelby Miller and Casey Lee Miller, both of Abilene; one daughter, Brandy Kay Miller of Abilene; her mother, Ann Perry of Abilene; four brothers, Jackie Wilbanks and Jimmy Wilbanks, both of Abilene, Johnny Wilbanks of Grove, Okla., and Jeffery Wilbanks of Denver City; and one sister, Janet Starnes of Lubbock.

Claude Houston 'Pogie' Glover Jr.
RIDGECREST, Calif. -- Claude Houston "Pogie" Glover Jr., 75, formerly of the Abilene area, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Ridgecrest First Baptist Church with the Rev. Gerald L. Goodman officiating. Burial will be in Desert Memorial Park, directed by Holland & Lyons Mortuary.
Mr. Glover was born in Potosi and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He moved to Ridgecrest in 1947 from Abilene. He worked as a test mechanic at the Naval Weapons Center in China Lake, Calif. until retiring in 1976.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Glover of Ridgecrest; one son, William Glover of Ridgecrest; two daughters, Teri Evans and Sherry Zissos, both of Ridgecrest; one sister, Doris Johnson of Barstow, Calif.; and five grandchildren.

George Starritt
MANTECA, Calif. -- George Starritt, 75, formerly of Anson, died Tuesday in a Freemont, Calif. hospital.
The body was cremated. A memorial service will be Friday in Manteca First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Veterans Administration Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Neptune Society of Castro Valley, Calif.
Mr. Starritt was born in Anson and served with the U.S. Army, Navy and Marine Corps for a total of 13 years. He was a World War II and Korean War veteran and received a silver star and bronze star.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Starritt of Manteca; one son, David Starritt of California; two stepdaughters and one stepson; two sisters, Bea Pennington and Doris Decker, both of Abilene; and one brother, Bill Starritt of Abilene; and many cousins.

Audrey Heatley
ALBANY -- Audrey Heatley, 58, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Albany First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Douglas Stenberg officiating. Burial will be in Albany Cemetery, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.
Mrs. Heatley was born in Shackelford County and was employed by the West Texas Chamber of Commerce in Abilene from 1960-79. She was working in home health care at the time of her death. She was a member of Elks Lodge 1480 Ladies Auxiliary and First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Heatley of Albany; and her mother, Nona Breeden of Albany.
