Issie Terrell
Issie Terrell, 90, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in First Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Garland Wallace officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. in Gouldbusk Cemetery south of Coleman, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mrs. Terrell was born in Dublin and moved to Abilene in 1939 from Gouldbusk. She was a Nazarene.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Terrell of Abilene and Evered "Ed" Terrell of Lucas, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Oleta Ray Turner
Oleta Ray Turner, 90, died Wednesday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Richard Payne officiating, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mrs. Turner was born in Bell County near Killeen and lived in Austin from 1943-83. She worked at Bergstrom Air Force Base from 1943-73 and was the first female chief civilian finance officer. She was a member of International Toast Mistress Club in Austin and was president of the Rio Grande Area Council. She was the widow of Herbert E. Turner, whom she married in 1936.
Survivors include three sisters, Onva Quarles of Abilene, and Esther Crawford and Jacqueline Lane, both of San Diego; and several nieces and nephews.

Walter Marshall Matthews
Walter Marshall Matthews, 65, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Matthews was born in Electra and moved to Abilene in 1950. He attended McMurry College. He worked as an accountant for Rose & Sons Construction for many years. He also owned the School of Scuba for more than 30 years and was active in the business at the time of his death. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widower of Margaret Elaine Bosworth Matthews, whom he married in 1955 in Abilene.
Survivors include two sisters, Jean Sparkman and Peggy Joyce Sheppard, both of Wichita Falls; and one niece and one nephew.

Laurence Kidwell
Laurence Kidwell, 92, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with the Rev. Wayne Oglesby officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Kidwell grew up in Millsap and the Mineral Wells area. He married Lola McCollum in 1939 in Fort Davis and worked as a barber for more than 50 years. He lived in Alpine and Marfa until moving to Abilene in 1956.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Dudley Kidwell of Abilene and Ron Kidwell of Lewisville; one daughter, Dena Smith of Arlington; one sister, Margie Babb of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Lora Hunter Williams Scott
Lora Hunter Williams Scott, 86, of Hawley, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Caddo Cemetery in Joshua, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Scott was born in Waurika, Okla., and was a homemaker. She moved from Abilene in 1987. She was the widow of E.J. Williams, whom she married in 1929. She married Tom Scott in 1987. She recently moved to Hawley from Henderson, Tenn., and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Henderson, Tenn.; one son, John Williams of Hawley; one daughter, Pat Knight of Hawley; one stepdaughter, Sue Adams of Bartlett, Tenn.; one sister, Helen Hanson of Fort Worth; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Big Country, 3113 Oldham Lane, Abilene 79602.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

Eula Gruben
ELM VALLEY -- Eula V. Gruben, 90, of Abilene and formerly of Elm Valley, died Friday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Buffalo Gap Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Black officiating, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Mrs. Gruben was born in Bonita and graduated from Guthrie High School. She lived in Abilene, where she worked as a librarian at South Side Baptist Church. She also was a librarian at View First Baptist Church. She worked at Bible Bookstore in Abilene until retiring in 1972. She then moved to Elm Valley. She returned to Abilene in 1998. She was a member of Elm Creek Baptist Church and was the widow of Walter E. Gruben, whom she married in 1930 in Spur.
Survivors include one daughter, Norma Swafford of Seven Points; two brothers, Wendell Deaton of San Marcos and Wilburn Deaton of Matador; and her caregivers, Sue and Jack Kirby of Abilene.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Elgin Edgar Shelburn
BURNET -- Elgin Edgar Shelburn, 75, father of an Abilene resident, died Saturday.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Edgar Funeral Home Chapel with Darrell Debo officiating. Burial will be in Cauble Cemetery near Lake Victor.
Mr. Shelburn was born at Lake Victor and was a rancher and farmer. He retired from the Burnet County Sheriff's Department. He also was a police chief in Burnet and worked for the Texas Department of Corrections. He was a member of Valley Lodge 175.
Survivors include his wife, Jimsey Shelburn of Burnet; one daughter, Phyllis Shelburn Elliff of Round Rock; two sons, Richard Shelburn of Abilene and Randy Shelburn of Burnet; two brothers, Donald Shelburn and Gerald Shelburn, both of Burnet; and six grandchildren.

Norman Dwain Painter
SWEETWATER -- Norman Dwain Painter, 54, died Saturday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Sweetwater First United Methodist Church with James Radford and the Rev. Larry Garnto officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Painter was born in Brady and moved to Sweetwater about 38 years ago. He graduated from Sweetwater High School. He married JoAnn Williams in 1964 in Sweetwater. He worked for U.S. Gypsum Co. for about 35 years and was a general foreman. He was a member of the Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, of Sweetwater; one son, Ricky Painter of Sweetwater; one daughter, Michelle Kincaid of Sweetwater; his mother, Oleta Painter of Brownwood; one brother, Ernest Painter of Austin; two sisters, Edna Radford of Abilene and Connie Campbell of Brownwood; and three grandchildren.

Robert 'Jack' Underwood
O'BRIEN -- Robert H. "Jack" Underwood, 90, died Saturday in a Knox City hospital after a long illness.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Rochester Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Trice officiating, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Knox City.
Mr. Underwood was born in Gorman and moved to O'Brien 76 years ago. He was a farmer and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of Knox City Masonic Lodge. He was a Methodist and was the widower of Lola Mae DeBusk, whom he married in 1940 in Millsap.
Survivors include one son, C.H. Underwood of O'Brien; one daughter, Dianna Condron of Coldsprings; two brothers, Roy B. Underwood of Petaluma, Calif., and G.D. Underwood of Levelland; one sister, Opal Floyd of Durham, Conn.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Patricia McNamee
BROWNWOOD -- Patricia McNamee, 64, of Trinity and formerly of Brownwood, died Wednesday in a Conroe hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kyle Horton officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mrs. McNamee was born in Tennessee and was a homemaker. She was the widow of Charlie McNamee, whom she married in Brownwood.
Survivors include two brothers, Phillip Baird of Huntsville and Billy Baird of Livingston; and many nieces and nephews.
