Don Dayton Bridges
Don Dayton Bridges, 67, of Tuscola, former Director of Physical Properties at Hardin-Simmons University, died Monday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Logsdon Chapel at HSU with the Rev. James Martin and Dr. William Beasley officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Gap Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Bridges was born in Canyon and graduated from Texas Tech University with a bachelor's degree in horticulture and park management. He moved to Abilene from Lubbock in 1961 and was employed by HSU until retiring in 1996. He was a Baptist and a member of Elm Valley Community Church. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He married Lou Crockett in 1958 in Arlington.
Survivors include his wife, of Tuscola; three sons, Steve Bridges and Stewart Bridges, both of Bastrop, and Scott Bridges of Abilene; one brother, Rex Bridges of Lubbock; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Don Bridges Endowed Scholarship Fund, Hardin-Simmons University Development Office, HSU Station, Box 16100, Abilene 79698.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Lurline McGregor Huff
Lurline McGregor Huff, 76, of Abilene died Monday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at University Church of Christ with Drs. Eddie Sharp and Roy Willingham officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Huff was born in Troup, where she graduated from high school in 1939. She graduated from Abilene Christian College (now Abilene Christian University) in 1943 and had lived in Abilene since 1947. She taught in the Abilene Independent School District for eight years and was a clerk-typist for Abilene Intercollegiate School of Nursing. She was a homemaker and a member of University Church of Christ, Texas Retired Teachers Association and Women for ACU. She married Norman Huff in 1944 in Troup.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; two sons, Bruce Huff of Hurst and Dale Huff of Haskell; one daughter, Shirley Sumners of Seagraves; two sisters, Elice Broadus of Topeka, Kan., and Laverne Stokes of Denver, Colo.; and 10 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Christian Service Center, 901 Mesquite, Abilene 79601; or to the donor's favorite charity.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Jeff Sabade
SWEETWATER -- Jeff Sabade, 26, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lamar Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Clifton officiating, directed by Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Mr. Sabade was born in Mishawaka, Ind., and worked as a fireman and paramedic for the Abilene and Sweetwater fire departments. He was a Marine Corps and Reserve veteran. He married Teri Keith in 1996 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; his parents, Jerry and Linda Sabade of Okeechobee, Fla.; two sisters, Laurie Adams of Columbus, Ga., and Amy Sabade of Okeechobee; and grandparents Dorothy Sabade of Mishawaka and Louise Buuck of Ossian, Ind.

Melvin 'Smitty' Smith
BOWIE -- Melvin D. "Smitty" Smith, 73, died Sunday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Baptist Church in Sunset with the Rev. Doyle Wade officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery, directed by Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was born in Brooksmith and retired from General Dynamics in 1988 after 40 years. He was a Baptist and a member of Reddy-McClellan Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8789. He was a member of Riglea Masonic Lodge 1341, AF&AM, in Fort Worth and of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He married Mary Ella Massey in 1945 in Brownwood.
Survivors include his wife, of Bowie; two daughters, Gay Barclay of Bowie and Kathy Jones Fondren of Plainview; one brother, J.L. Smith of Abilene; two sisters, Wanda Weaver of Carrollton and Maxine Dickerson of Grapevine; four grandsons, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paul Lewis Norris
GORMAN -- Paul Lewis Norris, 74, of the Kokomo community died Monday at a Stephenville hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Barry Brown and Don Washek officiating. Burial will be in Simpson Cemetery, north of Kokomo.
Mr. Norris was born in Eastland County and was a retired farmer and a member of Gorman Primitive Baptist Church. He married Imogene Burleson in 1944 in Eastland.
Survivors include his wife, of Kokomo; one son, James Norris of Desdemona; three daughters, Paula Morrow of Plains, Jeanna Pack of Carbon and Lisa Lewis of Stephenville; six sisters, Lettie Pullig of Sweetwater, Louise Dorsey, Cleo Duncan and Winnette Maynard, all of Eastland, Faye Hadderton of Jacksboro and Juanita Broom of Plains; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. today.

Mildred Ford
CROSS PLAINS -- Mildred L. Ford, 90, died Monday at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Cottonwood Cemetery with Knox Waggoner officiating, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ford was born in Sharpsville, Pa., and was a homemaker and a member of Cottonwood Baptist Church. She married Homer Ford Sr. in 1947; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Brown of Cottonwood and Arlene Leonetti of Cody, Wyo.; one sister, Vera Malsom of Hemit, Calif.; one stepdaughter, Maxine Sneed of Azle; two stepsons, Raymond Ford of North Shores, Calif., and Homer Ford Jr. of San Bernardino, Calif.; 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Hollis Jones
BAIRD -- Hollis P. Jones, 88, died Monday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ross Ellis officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Snyder Cemetery in Snyder, directed by Parker Funeral Home.
Mr. Jones was born in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and moved to Baird from Snyder in 1970. He was a plant operator for Monsanto Oil Co. in Snyder and a member of First Baptist Church. He married Janice Merlyn Pinkerton in 1966 in Snyder.
Survivors include his wife, of Baird; two stepsons, Kelton Pinkerton of Corpus Christi and Wendell Pinkerton of Colorado City; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, one niece and one nephew.

William Bryan Sinclair
STRAWN -- William Bryan Sinclair, 97, formerly of Strawn, died Sunday at an Arlington care home.
Graveside services with Masonic rites will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Mount Marion Cemetery with Al Mannon officiating, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Sinclair was born in Rockland and attended school in Woodville. He worked for T.P. Oil Company for 25 years and for Premier Oil Co. for 18 years, retiring in 1967. He was a member of Strawn Masonic Lodge 906 and Strawn Order of the Eastern Star 361. He was a life member, past Worshipful Master of the lodge and was District Deputy Grand Master of Texas in 1955. He was a Worthy Patron for Eastern Star. He had lived in Arlington since 1991 and attended First Baptist Church in Strawn. He was the widower of Ina Mae Hammond.
Survivors include four children, Edith Smith of Oklahoma City, Okla., Norma Mannon of Shell Beach, Calif., Billye Sinclair of Rising Star and Ellen Turner of Carrollton; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Strawn Masonic Lodge.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Irene Lange
CANON CITY, Colo. -- Irene M. Lange, 86, of Florence, Colo., formerly of Hamlin, died Saturday.
No services are planned. Burial will be in Evant, Tex., directed by Wilson-Andrews Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lange was born near Hamlin and was a businesswoman in Hamlin for many years. She and her husband operated a locker plant in Evant. She lived in Kerrville before moving to Florence in 1994. She was the widow of Leonard Wolcott and Edward Lange.
Survivors include a niece and relatives in Florence, Canon City and Denver.
