Raymond Henry Penning
MINGUS -- Raymond Henry Penning, 83, died Thursday in a Fort Worth hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel in Stephenville with the Rev. Montie Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Exray Cemetery in Erath County.
Mr. Penning was born in Glenvil, Neb., and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Sue Alexander in 1966 in Fort Worth and moved to Mingus 33 years ago. He worked for Container Corp. of America for 32 years and retired as a supervisor in 1978. He then was a farmer and rancher. He coached a men's senior softball team in Huckabay and was a Lutheran.
Survivors include his wife, of Mingus; one stepson, Willie N. Fulfer of Weatherford; one brother, Harvey Penning of Hastings, Neb.; several step grandchildren; and two nieces.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Linda Stokes
Linda G. Stokes, 62, died Friday in a local hospital.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today in North's Funeral Home Chapel, 242 Orange. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Bethel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Samuel Tun officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Stokes was born in Tye and grew up in Abilene. She married Dan Stokes in 1953 in Abilene and worked at the Abilene State School for more than 10 years. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; five sons, George Stokes, Freddie Stokes and Danny Stokes, all of Abilene, Joe Stokes of Austin and Larry Stokes of Sweetwater; five daughters, Viviana Garcia, Melissa Stokes, Sanida Tonche, Erlinda Stokes and Brenda Lee Stokes, all of Abilene; one sister, Isbel Johnston of Abilene; 22 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Rowland Lefevre
Rowland A. Lefevre, 87, self-employed barber for many years, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Ron Curtis officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Bowie Cemetery.
Mr. Lefevre was born in Crowell and graduated from Ford City High School in 1929. He was a World War II veteran and moved to Abilene in 1953 from Eastland. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2012 and University Baptist Church, and was the widower of Marguerite Lanier Lefevre, whom he married in 1946 in Eastland.
Survivors include one grandson, Chad Lefevre of Abilene; one granddaughter, Lauren Lefevre of Abilene; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Michael 'Mike' Louis Farr
Michael "Mike" Louis Farr, 54, lifelong Abilene resident, died Friday at his home.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory. The body will be cremated.
Mr. Farr was born in Abilene and was a self-employed carpenter.
Survivors include one son, Michael "Mike" Louis Farr II of Abilene; one daughter, Gena Indelicato of Long Island, N.Y.; one brother, Ford Farr of Abilene; and one sister, Wanda Carroll Beasley of Denver.

Jackson Gilbreath
Jackson C. Gilbreath, 96, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Jimmy Griffith officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fielder Cemetery in Lufkin.
Mr. Gilbreath was born in Yantis and moved to Abilene in 1976. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, George Grant Gilbreath of Abilene; one daughter, Betty Russell of Beaumont; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Melvin Bush
TYE -- Melvin D. Bush, 63, whose wife grew up in Cottonwood, died Friday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Cottonwood Cemetery with Ronnie Newton officiating, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home of Cross Plains.
Mr. Bush was born in Peoria, Ill., and married Vivian Robinson in 1983 in Abilene. He worked as a refrigeration repairman and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Tye; four children, Beth Bogue of Indianapolis, Tina Elkins of Eula, Patty Chaves of Tulsa, Okla., and Ronald McCowen of Cross Plains; his mother, Virginia Wyss of Peoria, Ill.; one brother, Gary Wyss of Peoria, Ill.; four sisters, Jackie Lister and Marlene Wyss, both of Peoria, Ill., Dorie Miller of East Peoria, Ill., and Jeanie Beers of Kenosha, Wis.; and five grandchildren.

Harold Edwards
CORPUS CHRISTI -- Harold Edwards, 69, formerly of Roby, died Friday in a local hospital after a long battle with emphysema.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Dr. Billy Storms officiating, directed by Clifford Jackson Funeral Home.
Mr. Edwards was born in Roby and married Wandalene Scott 52 years ago. He worked as an air conditioning and refrigeration technician for Storecraft Inc. until retiring in 1983.
Survivors include his wife, of Corpus Christi; two daughters, Linda Corder and Peggy Jones-Brandon, both of Corpus Christi; one son, Jerry Edwards of Corpus Christi; his mother, Vada Edwards of Corpus Christi; one sister, Velena McGowan of Long Beach, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Marvin Winchester
BROWNWOOD -- Marvin E. Winchester, 78, of Georgetown, whose wife is formerly of Brown County, died Friday in a Georgetown nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Clear Creek Cemetery in Brown County with the Rev. Robert Elkins officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Winchester was born in Washington, D.C., and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Billie Guyer in 1947 in Fort Lincoln, Md., and retired as a contract specialist from the U.S. government. He lived in Virginia for 27 years. He moved to Georgetown 2-1/2 years ago and was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, of Georgetown; one son, John E. Winchester of Cedar Hill; one daughter, Barbara L. Rees of Reston, Va.; one brother, Wilburn J. Winchester of Rockville, Md.; and three grandchildren.

Manuel Lujan
COLORADO CITY -- Manuel Lujan, 69, lifelong local resident, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. today in Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Ann's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ray Wilhelm officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell County Cemetery.
Mr. Lujan was born in Colorado City and served with the U.S. Army. He married Eva Valdez in 1958 in Colorado City and retired as a heavy equipment operator from Mitchell County. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Colorado City; two sons, Felix Lujan and Samuel Lujan, both of Colorado City; one daughter, Rachael Bass of Snyder; one brother, A.A. Lujan of Loraine; one sister, Victoria Valdez of California; and four grandchildren.
