Joseph Perry
Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Joseph K. Perry 68, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. John D. Erwin officiating. Burial with military honors and Masonic rites will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Perry was born in Wegra, Ala., where he attended school. He graduated from New Hampshire College in Concord, N.H. He married Lois Griffith in Wichita Falls in 1951 and served in the Korean conflict and Vietnam. He moved to Abilene in 1968 from Thailand. He was a weapons officer in the Air Force for 26 years. After retiring, he was a building inspector for the city of Abilene and later a home builder and realtor. He was a 32nd degree Mason and was a member of Faith Lodge in Wichita Falls, Scottish Rite, Waco Consistory, Suez Shrine Temple in San Angelo and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2012 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; one son, David K. Perry of Stamford; one daughter, Deonna Perry Galbraith of Abilene; one brother, Paul B. Perry of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and two nephews.
Visitation will be at 5325 Wagon Wheel Ave.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. or the donor’s favorite charity.

Martha Zellarene Herndon Knox
Martha Zellarene Herndon Knox, 82, died Wednesday in a local care center.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South with Jack English officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Knox was born in Anson, where she graduated from high school. She moved to Abilene in 1936 and married Robert Erskine Knox Sr. in Lampassas in 1951. She retired from the Abilene school district with a total of 25 years as a dietician and food service associate. She attended Baker Heights Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband of Abilene; two sons, Robert E. Knox Jr. of Dallas and Retired Col. Don H. Clark of Austin; one brother, Leo L. Herndon of Abilene; a sister, Alice Bristow of Houston; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jo Lynn Gossett Strakos
TUSCOLA -- Jo Lynn Gossett Strakos, 52, of San Angelo and formerly of Tuscola, died Wednesday in a San Angelo hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Tuscola First Baptist Church with the Revs. Burtis Williams and Steven Parker officiating. Burial will be in Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home.
Mrs. Strakos was born in Caney, Kan., and moved to Tuscola as a child. After graduating from Meeks School of Nursing, she worked at Hendrick Hospital as a licensed vocational nurse. She moved to San Angelo in 1979 and earned a nursing degree from Angelo State University in 1981. She worked as an registered nurse at both Shannon Medical Center and Community Hospital in San Angelo. She married Rob Strakos in 1982 in San Angelo. She retired from Pecos County Hospital in 1998. She was a member of Belmore Baptist Church in San Angelo.
Survivor include her husband of San Angelo; two stepsons, Rodney Strakos of St. Marys, Ga., and Dany Strakos of Oklahoma City; her mother, Pearl Rosson of Tuscola; two sisters, Jean Parker and Anne Seybold, both of Abilene; and one brother, Dayne Gossett of Abilene.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Cora Mae Hines
BELLS -- Cora Mae Hines, 90, formerly of the Lueders area, died Tuesday in a local care center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Mullican-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Bells with the Rev. Jim Poole officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Clear Fork Cemetery in Lueders, directed by Kinney Funeral Home of Stamford.
Mrs. Hines was born in Nugent. She was the widow of Fred Hines, whom she married in 1935 in Lueders. She was a member of the Bells First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Hudson of Bells; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several stepgrandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Dianne Barton
EASTLAND -- Dianne Barton, 36, died Thursday in a Fort Worth hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Merriman Cemetery, directed by Bakker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barton was born in Brady and moved to Eastland as a child. She worked as a home health aide and was a member of Gunsight Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Barton of Eastland; two sons, Richard Dewayne Britton and Jason Wayne Britton, both of Eastland; her mother, Dolores James of Eastland; one sister, Sharon Montgomery of Eastland; and many nieces and nephews.

James Richard Cox
COLORADO CITY -- James Richard Cox, 47, died Thursday after a battle with cancer.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Colorado City Cemetery with the Rev. Monte Jones officiating, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Cox was born in Colorado City and was a farmer for many years. He operated Cox Welding for 15 years. He was a longtime member of the Mitchell County Livestock Association.
Survivors include one daughter, Jaime Cox of San Angelo; two sons, Dalton Cox of Canyon and Jay Cox of Colorado City; his mother, Marcelene Cox of Colorado City; one brother, Robert Cox; and a niece and nephew.

Park Paul Plambeck
CISCO -- Park Paul Plambeck, 52, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Martin Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, directed by Kimbrough Funeral Home.
Mr. Plambeck was born in Gorman. He was a farmer and received the Soil Conservation Award. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his mother, Laverne Plambeck of Cisco; one brother, Victor Plambeck of Cisco; one sister, Carolyn Grimes of Spring; and two nieces.

Bertie Cummings
BROWNWOOD -- Bertie Cummings, 92, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Brownwood Evangelism Center with Rev. Don Martin officiating. Burial will be in the Eastland Cemetery, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mrs. Cummings was born in Coleman County and moved to Brownwood in 1982. She was the widow of Frank Cummings, whom she married in 1944 in Pasedena, Calif.
Survivors include four brothers, Harvey O’Neal of Odessa, Jess O’Neal of Lubbock, Raymond O’Neal of Mountain Valley, Kan., and Boyd O’Neal of McKinney; two sisters, Ruby Flanagan and Ruth Reese, both of Brownwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Thomas Elmer Thackerson
DUBLIN -- Thomas Elmer Thackerson, 96, died Thursday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Upper Greens Creek Cemetery with the Revs. Jesse Bigbee and Neely Carter officiating, directed by Harrell Funeral Home.
Mr. Thackerson was born in Cottonwood. He was the widower of Irene DeBusk Thackerson. He was a member of Greens Creek Baptist Church and a former member of the IOOF.
Survivors include six daughters, Fay Gooch of Red Oak, Florene Allen of Granbury, Juanite Davis of Fort Worth, Alma "Sally" Thackerson of Weatherford, Artie Mohler of Cedar Hill, and Nora Carter of Dublin; two sons, Elmer B. "Pete" Thackerson of Irving and James "Sonny" Thackerson of Dublin; 20 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
