Nila Mae Jared
STAMFORD -- Nila Mae Jared, 81, a longtime Stamford resident, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Avoca Methodist Church with the Rev. Dewayne Wolf officiating. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jared was born in Avoca. She was the widow of Carl "Bo" Jared, whom she married in 1941. She was a secretary for the Red Cross during World War II. She was a member of the Avoca Methodist Church and retired from the Stamford Cotton Oil Company.
Survivors include one sister, Marjorie Pliml, of Abilene; and several nieces and nephews.

Alfred Gordon ‘Dick’ Lofland
LUBBOCK -- Alfred Gordon "Dick" Lofland, 90, father of a Hawley resident, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Sanders Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Ballard officiating. Burial will be in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
Mr. Lofland was born in Rockwall where he attended school. He moved to Lubbock and married Thelma Louise Osborn in 1933. At his death, he was the oldest living firefighter, having retired from the Lubbock Fire Department in 1974 as a captain.
Survivors include his wife, of Lubbock; two daughters, Sonja Joyce Carter, of Hawley, and Carolyn Stokes, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one sister, Lucille Stephenson, of Rowlett; two brothers, Knox Lofland, of Garland, and Robert Lofland, of Powell, Wyo.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Margaret Lucille Wullger
GORMAN -- Margaret Lucille Wullger, 62, a longtime De Leon resident, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in the Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Satterwhite officiating. Burial will be in Simpson Cemetery.
Mrs. Wullger was born in Gorman. She was a beautician and a homemaker. She was a member of the DeLeon First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Wullger, of Washington, and Daren Wullger, of Oregon; her mother, Opal Snider, of De Leon; one sister, Stella Fay Scott, of Gorman; and three grandchildren.

Elsie Russell Adams
MARYNEAL -- Elsie Russell Adams, 93, a longtime local resident, died Friday in a Sweetwater hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Maryneal Baptist Church with the Revs. Don Pattillo and Truman Davis officiating. Burial will be in Maryneal Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Mrs. Adams was born in Decker where she attended school. She also attended Sul Ross University. She was the widow of John G. Adams Sr., whom she married in 1925 in Maryneal. She taught school in Goode, Mesquite and Collins in Nolan County. She was the Maryneal postmaster from 1965-72.
Survivors include one son, John G. Adams Jr., of Maryneal; one daughter, Martha Jane Turner, of Melvin; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Loretta Oneta Riney
Loretta Oneta Riney, 85, died Friday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton with Brian Patterson officiating, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy. 277 South.
Mrs. Riney moved from Littlefield to Clyde in 1992 and was a member of Spade Methodist Church in Spade. She was a homemaker. She was the widow of Jesse Bell Riney.
Survivors include three sons, Jesse Joe Riney of Plainview, Freddy H. Riney of Clyde and Ronald Gene Riney of Olton; two brothers, Alan Ferguson of Port Angeles, Wash., and Weldon Ferguson of Salem, Ore.; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
The family will be at Englunds Funeral Home in Slaton from 6-8 p.m. today.

Opal Little
Opal Little, 100, died Friday at a local care center.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Masonic Cemetery with the Rev. Rudy Fambrough officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Little was born in Indian Territory, now Oklahoma, and came to the Abilene area as a child, attending school in Little Elm, Denton Valley, Tecumseh and New Hope. She also attended Draughon’s Business College. She was employed at Camp Barkley during World War II and at various insurance agencies in Abilene before retiring from the Hunter-Weeks Insurance Agency in 1987. She taught the Cradle Roll and Beginners Sunday school classes for many years at Immanuel Baptist Church. She was the widow of Luther Lee Little, whom she married in Abilene.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Allmand of Abilene; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

Kathleen Pruet McDaniel
Kathleen Pruet McDaniel, 79, of Abilene, one of the first women to receive a pilot’s license (in the mid-1940s), died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 N. 2nd, with Chaplain Truett Kuenstler officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. McDaniel was born in Putnam. She was a welder and inspector at the Beaumont ship yard during World War II. She was an executive housekeeper for Holiday Inn and Howard Johnson hotel chains and was a member of Northview Baptist Church. She married Lester McDaniel in 1966 in Dallas; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Joe Elison Pruet of Kennadale, Floyd Allen Pruet of Fayetteville, Ark., and Glen Arthur Pruet of Richardson; one daughter, Barbara Ann Hodges of Putnam; one brother, J.T. Green of Sugar Land; one sister, Jewell Dowden of Nederland; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Dan Nelson Neeper
BROWNWOOD -- Dan Nelson Neeper, 81, of Early died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Early First Baptist Church with the Revs. Calvin Knight and Don Martin officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Neeper was born in San Saba County and was a retired U.S. Department of Agriculture inspector. He had lived in Early for 29 years and served on the Early City Council for five years. He was a former board member of Early Chamber of Commerce and a member of Early First Baptist Church. He married Charlene Wright in 1958 in Brownwood.
Survivors include his wife, of Early; four sons, Homer Neeper of Azle, James Ronnie Neeper of Lorena, Scott Geoffrey Neeper of Woodway and Gilbert Bessent of Lewisville; four daughters, Sandra Neeper of Fort Worth, Sheila Penick of Plano, Linda Shahan of Guthrie, Okla., and Laura Henry of Allen; one sister, Wahnella Templeton of Rendon; three brothers, Joe Neeper of The Woodlands, Billy Neeper of Fort Worth and James Neeper of Bastrop; 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Winona Dee Blevins
WOODSON -- Winona Dee Blevins, 69, died Saturday after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Stiles officiating. Burial will be in Woodson Cemetery, directed by Morehart Mortuary of Breckenridge.
Mrs. Blevins was born in Woodson, where she attended school and lived most of her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She married Bill Blevins in 1947 in Breckenridge.
Survivors include her husband, of Woodson; one daughter, Charlotte Pennington of Brazoria; two sons, Raymond Blevins of Decatur and Mark Blevins of Woodson; and six grandchildren.
Memorials to the American Cancer Society (Research) or the Woodson Fire Department may be left at the funeral home.

Dick Sharp
ROTAN -- Dick Sharp, 83, of Aspermont died Saturday at an Aspermont hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Belvieu Cemetery with the Rev. Werth Mayes officiating, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mr. Sharp was born in Erath County and moved to Fisher County in 1925. He moved to Kent and Stonewall counties in 1945, where he was engaged in farming and ranching until his retirement. He married Elza Bunch in 1945 in Spur; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include one brother, Babe Sharp of Plainview; three sisters, Leota O’Briant of Rotan, Margie Upshaw of Roby and Zada Goodwin of Corpus Christi; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
