Bobby Cox
SWEETWATER -- Bobby Cox, 84, died Sunday at a Roscoe care center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. David Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery.
Mrs. Cox lived in Sweetwater all her life and graduated from Newman High School. She was a receptionist at Peters Clinic and worked at Holiday Inn. She was a member of Business and Professional Women and United Methodist Women. She married Dell Rodney Cox in 1934 in Amarillo; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Robin Cox and Brian Cox, both of Sweetwater; four grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Dora Blanche Thurman
WYLIE -- Dora Blanche Thurman, 99, formerly of Clyde, died Monday at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Elida Cemetery in Elida, N.M., with the Rev. Travis Case officiating, directed by Bailey Funeral Home of Clyde.
Mrs. Thurman was born in Kansas and lived in Elida from 1908-1952. She moved to Clyde from Odessa in 1972 and to Wylie in 1995. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. She married Stephen Thurman in 1921 in Elida; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Verna Hare of Wylie, Norman Creighton of Tucumcari, N.M., and Lavon Webb of Clyde; one sister, Bessie Slack of Portales, N.M.; six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
The body will be at Wheeler Funeral Home in Portales from 9 a.m.-noon Wednesday.

Lee Ola Barbee
GORMAN -- Lee Ola Barbee, 84, of Eastland died Monday at an Eastland nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery south of Gorman.
Mrs. Barbee was born in Gorman and was a homemaker and a member of Eastland Church of Christ. She married Clyde Barbee in 1936 in Gorman.
Survivors include her husband, of Eastland, and one nephew.

Louise Atcheson Cooper
CISCO -- Louise Atcheson Cooper, 77, died Monday at an Eastland hospital after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Turner officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, directed by Kimbrough Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cooper was born in Young County, attended school in Graham and graduated from Woodson High School in 1938. She attended TSCW (now Texas Women’s University) in Denton and worked as a secretary in Fort Worth. She was a legal secretary for Bill Wright and Billy Wright for 25 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Cisco Child Care Center board and secretary of the Cisco Cemetery Association and Conrad Hilton board. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married Kenneth Cooper in 1946 in Graham; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Terry Powell of Arlington and Donna Jean of Dallas; three sisters, Edith Gentry of Denton, Vera Bolinger of Fullerton, Calif., and Jean Wolfe of Edinburg; four grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church of Cisco or to the Cisco Cemetery Association.

Wanda Mae Mobley Satterwhite
Wanda Mae Mobley Satterwhite, 65, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Chaplain Ray Bingham officiating, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mrs. Satterwhite was born in Abilene and attended Abilene High School. She worked as a restaurant waitress in the Abilene area. She moved to Cisco in 1978 and returned to Abilene in 1991. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Max Satterwhite, whom she married in 1978 in Abilene.
Survivors include three daughters, Nita Burks and Keri Satterwhite, both of Abilene, and Dorothy Osteen of Sweetwater; one son, James Mobley of Abilene; one sister, Patricia Allmand of Abilene; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to American Heart Association, 149 N. Willis, Abilene 79603.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Rubie Ann Cooper
Rubie Ann Cooper, 76, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Revs. Wendell Leach and Mike Martin officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cooper was born in Snyder, where she graduated from high school, and moved to Abilene in 1945. She owned and operated Ann’s Tasty Burger. She was a member of South Side Baptist Church and was the widow of Albert Ray "A.R." Cooper, whom she married in 1947 in Abilene.
Survivors include one son, Billy Ray Cooper of El Paso; three daughters, Emma LaRae Lambert and Mary Ann Nork, both of Abilene, and Darlene Peters of Eula; one brother, Ruben R. Jones of Abilene; four sisters, Nina Mae Hunter of Snyder, Maxine Kelch of Fort Worth, Darlene Leach of Burleson and Doris Gates of Sweetwater; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials may be sent to Hendrick Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1922, Abilene 79604.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Robert William ‘Bob’ Kirby
Robert William "Bob" Kirby, 49, died Sunday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Thursday in Girdner Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Elm. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
Mr. Kirby was born in Detroit and attended school in Marine City, Mich. He served two tours of duty with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He moved to Texas in 1980 and worked for J.B. Hunt Trucking for 10 years. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Robert William Kirby Jr. of Abilene; one daughter, Tipreing Kirby of Grand Haven, Mich.; three sisters, Cheryl Mercier of Marine City, Mich., Deborah Schutt of Algnoin, Mich., and Donna Conarty of Abilene; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Alma Louise Pearson
SWEETWATER -- Alma Louise Pearson, 70, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Joe Bagby officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.
Mrs. Pearson was born in Putnam and moved to Sweetwater 51 years ago. She married James Pearson in Abilene and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Sweetwater; two daughters, Beverly Gay of San Angelo and Claudia Rasor of Granbury; three sisters, Betty Yancy of Abilene, Juanita Fredeck of Dallas and Gertrude Carpenter of Coleman; and four grandchildren.

Ira Short
ROCHESTER -- Ira D. Short, 87, died Tuesday in a Stamford nursing home after a long illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Rochester First Baptist Church with the Revs. Truett Kuenstler and Ed Buerkle officiating. Burial will be in Rochester Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Short was born in Abilene and attended school in Haskell County. He farmed and ranched in Haskell County for most of his life. He was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widower of Tennie Mae Foster Short, whom he married in 1931 in Haskell County.
Survivors include one son, Warren D. Short of Rochester; one sister, Eula May Taylor of Decatur; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Rochester Museum or First Baptist Church.
