Edward Albert Briscoe
SWEETWATER -- Edward Albert Briscoe, 78, formerly of Crescent, Okla., died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Crescent Cemetery in Crescent, Okla. with the Rev. Chris Humphreys officiating, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Briscoe was born in Marietta, Okla., and graduated from Crescent High School in Crescent, Okla. He married Frances Brown in 1941 in Guthrie, Okla. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and moved to Sweetwater in 1956. He then worked as a conductor for Santa Fe Railroad until retiring in 1986. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Sweetwater; one daughter, Janet Fulbright of Garland; two sons, John Briscoe of Sweetwater and Terry Briscoe of Plano; four sisters, Augusta Hopson of Crescent, Okla., Bernice Lloyd of Durant, Okla., Darla Litke of South Lake and Beverly Lewis of Norman, Okla.; one brother, William Briscoe of Belton; and four grandchildren.
The body will be taken to Crescent, Okla. today.

J.C. Irving Brown
ROCHESTER -- J.C. Irving Brown, 69, died Monday at his home after a long illness.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Weinert Cemetery with the Rev. Truett Kuenstler officiating, directed by Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Brown was born in Haskell County and attended school in Rochester. He married Johnnie Mason in 1952 in Knox City. He worked as an oilfield pumper and in agriculture. He moved to Rochester in 1978.
Survivors include his wife, of Rochester; one daughter, Sherry Norwood of Hamlin; one son, Thurman "Pete" Brown of Breckenridge; one sister, Bonnie Jo McWhorter of Donna; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Don Browne
COLORADO CITY -- Don Browne, 54, lifelong local resident, died Monday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in 22nd & Austin Streets Church of Christ with Royce Clay Jr. and Truman Stinson officiating. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Browne was born in Colorado City, where he married Nelda Schoolcraft in 1963. He co-owned Browne Brothers Inc. for 33 years. He was a member of 22nd & Austin Streets Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Colorado City; four sons, Wade Browne of McKinney, Clay Browne of Marble Falls, Hollis Browne of Colorado City and Marty Browne of Denver; his parents, Ellis and Narzee Browne of Loraine; one brother, Jimmy Browne of Colorado City; and seven grandchildren.

Robert William Barslow
Robert William Barslow, 79, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery with Mike Korzenewski officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Barslow was born in Littleton, Mass. He served in the U.S. Army Military Police during World War II. He married Erma Burks in 1946 in Abilene. He worked in the grocery business at Thornton’s Grocery and also worked at Gibson’s. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; one son, Bill Barslow of Fort Worth; one daughter, Diane Barslow of Abilene; two sisters, Thelma Lavene of Acton, Mass. and Arlene Gleason of Liester, Mass.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

B. E. Cluskey
CLYDE -- B.E. Cluskey, 78, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Gravesides services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Ross Cemetery Annex with the Rev. Ross Ellis officiating, directed by Parker Funeral Home.
Mr. Cluskey was born in Dillion, Col. He married Neta F. Hollowell in 1977 in Abilene. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was awarded three bronze service stars and was a prisoner of war. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife of Clyde; daughter, Elizabeth Reeves of Abilene; one son, Tommy Hollowell of Kingsland; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous cousins.

Siyefredo ‘Freddy’ Garza Perez
HASKELL -- Siyefredo "Freddy" Garza Perez, 53, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the New Covenant Foursquare Church with the Rev. William Hodge officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Collins officiating, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Home.
Mr. Perez was born in Mercedes. He married Mary Alice Rojas in 1959 in Hamlin. He had been the pastor of the New Covenant Foursquare Church in Haskell for the past six years and was a member of the Ministerial Alliance in both Haskell and Hamlin.
Survivors include his wife of Haskell; four sons, Mario Perez of Abilene, George Perez of Corpus Christi, Freddy Perez Jr and Michael A. Villarreal Perez both of Hamlin; four daughters, Angela Hildebrandt of Ceiba, Puerto Rico, Gloria Perez Collins of Austin, and Laurie Bonds and Gracie Perez both of Hamlin; two brothers, Ramiro Perez of Anson and Thomas Perez of Freemont, Ohio; four sisters, Margarita Valla of Freemont, Ohio, and Adela Olvera, Julie Faught and Mary Perez all of Hamlin; and 15 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be from 7-8 p.m. today at the New Covenant Foursquare Church.

Richard Allan ‘Dick’ White
MERKEL -- Richard Allan "Dick" White, 51, died Tuesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Merkel First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mr. White was born in Merkel. He graduated from Merkel High School and attended Cisco Junior College. He married Sue Casady in 1981 in Abilene. He was the Operations Manager Counselor for Serenity House and a member of the National Muzzle Loading Association. He was voted most popular and football hero. He was a member of the Merkel First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Merkel; one son, Shane White of Twin Falls, Idaho; three daughters, Kristen Boyd of Midland, and Robin Johnson and Ashley White both of Merkel; his mother, Peggy Green White of Merkel; one brother, Dale White of Sweetwater; and three sisters, Deborah DuBose of New Braunfels, Dian Seymore of Merkel and Donna Wheeler of Potosi; and six grandchildren.

Novrine Moore
Novrine Moore, 65, a longtime Abilene resident, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the United Family Church of God in Christ with Elder James Ray Moore Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by Girdner Funeral Home.
Ms. Moore was born in Yoakum and graduated from Woodson School in Abilene. She was a homemaker and a member of the United Family Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include three sons, James Ray Moore Sr. of Abilene, Donald Moore of Cedar Park, and Charles E. Moore of Fort Worth; two daughters, Mary Caldwell of Dallas and Mae Finch of Fort Wayne, Ind.; her mother, Cecelia Moore of Abilene; two brothers, Ben E. Moore Jr. of Abilene and Paul Moore of Las Vegas, Nev.; and three sisters, Faye Pennye of Dallas, Hazel Diggs and Hazel Gary of Abilene.
Visitation will be from 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday at the church.

James N. Gill, Jr.
Retired U.S. Air Force 1st Lieutenant James N. Gill Jr., 65, died Wednesday at his home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Macedonia Baptist Church with the Rev. K.R. White officiating, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home.
Mr. Gill was born in Greensboro, N.C. He married Esperanza "Hope" Reyes in 1984. He was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; one son, James "Sonny" Gill III of Houston; four daughters, Dolores C. Thomas of Abilene, Felecia Brook of San Antonio, and Louise Jameson and Carolyn Gill both of Houston; one sister, Gwendolyn Keitt of Ashboro, N.C.; and 15 grandchildren.

Larry Newsom
BROWNWOOD -- Larry Newsom, 42, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Artie Woodcox officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mr. Newsom was a lifetime Brownwood resident. He had worked as a carpet layer and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Newsom of Brownwood; one son, Chris Wagner of Denton; four stepdaughters, Carla Pope and Jesica Weathington both of Brownwood, Jennifer Hathcock of Euless, and Geanna Williams of Lubbock; mother and stepfather, Mary Elizabeth and Milton McAnally; two brothers, Donald Newsom and Jimmy Newsom both of Brownwood; one sister, Melissa Sawer of Brownwood; one stepbrother, Mike McAnally of Dallas; one stepsister, Misty Smith of Brownwood; one grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
