Saul Torres
Saul Torres, 68, of Brownfield, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010 in Brownfield.
Services will be at 10am, Thursday, August 19, 2010 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with Father Gerald Leatham officiating.
Burial will follow at Meadow Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Saul was born March 10, 1942 in Chihuahua, Mexico.
He was a farmer.
He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Saul is survived by his daughter, Sulema Rodriguez and husband, Alejandro of Meadow.
Frederico "Freddy" Garcia
Services for Frederico "Freddy" Garcia, 59, of Brownfield, will be at 10a.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, with Father Gerald Leatham officiating.
Burial will be in Brownfield Cemetery under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
Freddy will be in state for viewing Monday at Brownfield Funeral Home from 9am-8pm.
Freddy passed away Friday, August 27, 2010 in Hobbs, NM.
He was born May 30, 1951 in Brownfield, to Ramon and Felicitas Garcia.
He grew up and graduated from High School in Napa, Idaho.
He moved to Brownfield, in 1977.
Freddy married Erma Vera on July 1, 1978 in Brownfield.
He was employed with K-Bar Texas Electric, Inc.
He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Sylvia Celeste Garcia.
Freddy is survived by his wife Erma of Brownfield; 3 children, Roni and husband, Jonathan Cantu of Hereford, Freddy Garcia, Jr. of Brownfield, and Becky Elizondo and husband, Ernest of Brownfield; 5 grandchildren, Abygail and Aubrey Elizondo of Brownfield, Isaac Cantu of Hereford, Kylie Garcia of Brownfield, and Jayden Armstrong of Lubbock; 6 brothers and sisters, Marcos Garcia, Hinocencio Garcia, Dora Islas, Rosemary Garcia, Mary Acevedo and Carolyn Niazi all of Houston.
Theodore "Bear" Benton
Teddy "Bear" Benton, 85, of Brownfield, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010 at his home.
Services will be at 10am, Wednesday, July 21, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church, with Rev. Steve Carter officiating.
Burial will be in Terry County Memorial Cemetery, under the direction of Brownfield Funeral Home.
He was born July 18, 1924 to Robert R. and Ethel Benton in Union, Texas.
He was a WWII, U.S. Navy Veteran.
He married Maria Elena Rodriguez, December 19, 1975 in Paramount, CA.
He served on the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department from 1956 to 1979.
His last 16 years were spent at the Academy as a weapons instructor.
He was proud to say that "No Benton trainee was ever killed in the line of duty."
Over 11,000 cadets passed through the academy during his tenure.
He held a national record for shooting 6 rounds in less than a second for over 20 years.
He demonstrated his shooting abilities for dignitaries, scout groups, Marines, foreign police agencies, U.S. Presidents, Saudi Royalties and more.
"Bear" retired, but he wasn't through with law enforcement. .
He served as Commander for the Reserved Deputies in Terry County, under Ralph Murry from 1981-1988.
He was a member of the American Legion and active member of Calvary Baptist Church.
"Bear" is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, John Benton.
"Bear" is survived by his wife, Maria; a son, Robert and his wife, Janie of Brownfield; a daughter, Linda Benton of Lubbock; 4 grandchildren, Plutarco Castro, Yesana Castro-Garibaldo, Laura Benton and Debra McDonald; 2 great-grandchildren, Kristian and Izaiah; 2 brothers, Bob and his wife, Delma of OK, and Bill and his wife, Mary of Brownfield; 2 sisters, Molly Wilmeth of Richmond and Ruth Saldana and husband, Richard of Norwalk, CA; numerous nieces and nephews.
"Bear" loved his family and once he knew you, you became family.
He also loved being the center of attention.
He used up all 365 days a year of his 85 years.
BALDO CANO
Baldo S. Cano, 72, passed away Thursday, Nov, 2, 2006 at Brownfield Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services were held 2:00 P.M., Sat., Nov. 4, in Brownfield Cemetery.
GERALD MONROE CHIDESTER
Gerald Monroe Chidester, 61, died following a brief illness at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eugene, Ore. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006.
IVY ISABELL RAY
Services for Isabell Ray, 89, of Pleasanton, formerly of Brownfield, will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, with Pastor Bill Fowler officiating.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17 in Terry County Memorial Cemetery with Pastor Eddie Ailshie officiating.

Services for Alvirtis Smith, Sr., 69, of Brownfield, are pending.

DANNY JACK KELLY
Funeral services for Danny Jack Kelly, 48 of Loop, were at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday October 31, 2006 at the Loop Church of Christ with Mr. Delbert Bradley officiating.
Burial followed in the Gaines County Cemetery in Loop.
KATHRIN MAE HAMILTON
Services for Kathrin Mae Hamilton, 91, of Brownfield, were held Tuesday, October 31, 2006 in the First Christian Church with Rev. Ryan Pfeiffer officiating.
Burial was in the Terry County Memorial Cemetery.
DEBBIE FRANCO BRISENO
Services for Debbie Franco Briseno, 35, formerly of Brownfield, were held Monday, Oct. 30, in St. Anthony s Catholic Church.
Ms. Briseno died Friday, Oct. 27, 2006 in Brownfield.
WILLIE MAE JONES
Services for Willie Mae Jones, 74, of Plains, were held Saturday, Oct. 28, in the First Baptist Church, with Rev. Bill Wright officiating.
Burial was in the Plains/Yoakum County Cemetery.
EVA CONTRERAS GUTIERREZ
Funeral Mass for Eva Contreras Gutierrez, 64, of Brownfield, was held Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006 in St. Anthony s Catholic Church, with Father Gerald Leatham officiating.
Burial was in Brownfield Cemetery.
Rosaries were prayed on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 30-31.
