Hershman
Gerald D'Wayne Hershman Sr., age 43, of Pleasanton, passed away on May 23, 2002, in Fort Worth. He was born on April 3, 1959, in Richmond, California. He is survived by the mother of his children; two sons, Gerald D'Wayne Hershman Jr. and John Eric Hershman; a daughter, Amanda Leigh Hershman; four brothers, Ricky Hershman, Brian Carver, Gail Carver and Phillip Carver; four sisters, Kathy Faulkner, Linda Mangum, Debbie Peppel and Carol Hershman; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Bertzel Ray Hershman. Services were held Tuesday, May 28, at 2 p.m. at Hurley Chapel in Pleasanton with the Rev. Charles Woodward of Trinity Baptist Church, Pleasanton, officiating. Interment followed in the Pleasanton City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were by Hurley Funeral Home of Pleasanton.
Leach
Ina Gay Leach, age 72, passed away in San Antonio, Texas on May 22, 2002. Mrs. Leach was born to Lester and Lucy Tempe Briscoe on August 22, 1929 in McAlester, Oklahoma. As a small child, she moved with her parents to Graham, Texas, where she attended school and afterward, in 1947, married Francis Earl Leach, who preceded her in death on March 4, 1999. After their marriage, they moved to Jourdanton, Texas in 1947, where together they went into the dairy business with Bert Kaiser. Gay was an excellent seamstress and she also loved to garden. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was a very good cook. She loved to have family gatherings with her three daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Leach was of the Christian faith. Mrs. Leach was preceded in death by her parents and husband and survived by three daughters and one son-in-law: Fran Ricketts and Sharon Reeves, both of San Antonio, Texas; Ann and Ronnie Bennett of Houston, Texas; one sister, Joy Mize of South Carolina; five grandchildren, Brandi Reeves, Summer Reeves, and Katie McLaughlin, all of San Antonio, Texas; Melaney and Sean Bennett of Houston, Texas; four great grandchildren, Tristian Reyna, Daniella Muniz, Adrian Hinojosa, and Cameron Reeves, all of San Antonio, Texas; nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services were held in the chapel of the Tri-City Funeral Home, Tuesday, May 28, 2002, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. John Work of the First Baptist Church of Jourdanton officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Ronnie and Sean Bennett, Pat McLaughlin, Bernie Hinojosa, Gene Austin and Ray Barr. Interment will follow in the Jourdanton City cemetery under the direction of the Tri-City Funeral Home of Jourdanton, Texas, Thomas A. Lange, Funeral Director.
Meyer
Herbert Michael Meyer, age 92, of Pleasanton, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2002, at his home. A dairy farmer, Mr. Meyer was born in Waynesboro, Texas, on Sept. 2, 1909, and moved to Jourdanton in 1967. He is survived by four sons, Burton Meyer, William Henry Meyer and Victor Meyer, all of Jourdanton; and Lee Roy Meyer of Pleasanton; three daughters, Kathryn Aguras, Aromas, Cal.; Doris Kesler, Lake Hills, Texas; and Anna Bell Bailey, McQueeney, Texas; 16 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara, in 1999. Services were held Friday, May 24, at 9:30 a.m. at the Hurley Chapel in Pleasanton with the Rev. John Works, Baptist minister, officiating. Interment followed in St. John Lutheran cemetery in Jourdanton. Pallbearers were Jimmy Meyer, Joseph Meyer, Shane Meyer, Michael Meyer, Trey Meyer, Jason Meyer, Dustin Popham and Jarred Popham. Arrangements were by Hurley Funeral Home of Pleasanton.
Poteet
Cora Poteet, age 94, of Jourdanton, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2002, in Jourdanton. She was born on July 13, 1907, in Coleman County, Texas. A homemaker, she previously lived in Riviera, Texas where she graduated from Riviera High School. She was a graduate of Texas A&I University and a charter member of the Riviera Methodist Church. She is survived by a daughter, Marge Ann Thompson of Jourdanton; a sister, Mildred Bolting of Baytown; and three granddaughters, Nancy Truchard, Columbus; Donna Poorboy, and Janice LaRue, both of Jourdanton. Visitation was held Wednesday, May 29, from 2-8 p.m. at the Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Services will be held Thursday, May 30, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Riviera with the Rev. Elizabeth Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Riviera City cemetery under the direction of Hurley Funeral Home of Pleasanton.
Wright
Nolan Roy Wright, age 81, of Kingsville, Texas, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2002, in Alvin. He was born on January 21, 1921 to Jessie and Annie Wright in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Nolan was of the Baptist faith, attending Calvery Baptist Church in Kingsville for many years. Nolan worked at Celanese as a boilermaker. He was a member of the Elks and a Master Mason. He was involved in Celanese baseball, Three Rivers football and the A&I Booster Club. He played ball at Sul Ross University in Alpine, National Umpires Association, was a Golden Glove boxer, and participated in track, football and basketball. Nolan served in the U.S. Navy for four years. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Wright, and mother-in-law Josephine Smith; daughters Beverly Chase, Cheryl Goulet and Terry Pavlock and husband Bill; a son, Rick Wright and wife Nancy; a sister, Audrey Grogan; a brother, Nerice Lee (Red) and wife Marie; a sister-in-law, Marjo Wright and brother-in-law, Dale Meeks; grandchildren: Cade, Cooper, Cole, Pavlock, Clayton and Taunya Staff; Sean and Leilani Burnett; Clint and wife Tifini and Dane and Brent Chase; Brooke, Luke, Jake Wright, Lindsay Williams and James Sidler; Shawn and wife Jana Goulet; eight great grandchildren: Micheal, Dylan, Shelby and Sabrina Goulet, Anna, Wyatt, and Morgan Staff; and Hunter Chase. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Willard and MacWright; and two sisters, Lynette and Lois Anne. Visitation was held Tuesday, May 28, from 6-8 p.m. at Jeter Memorial Funeral Home in Friendswood. Placido M. Cano, age 48, of San Antonio, passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2003 in a San Antonio hospital. He was born on May 5, 1954 in Queretaro, Mexico. He worked as a brick layer contractor. He is survived by his parents, Placido L. Cano and Maria De Jesus (Almendarez) Cano of Queretaro, Mexico; his wife, Minerva Cano; five sons, Eriht Cano, Gabriel Cano, Rigoberto Cano, Armando Cano and Hugo Cano; and three daughters, Sonia Cano, Violeta Escalante and Nancy Cano, all of San Antonio; and ten grandchildren. Troy G. Hall, age 78, died Sunday, February 2, 2003. He was born February 16, 1924 in Poteet, Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Army and taught at the Poteet ISD for seven years, and later at Lackland ISD for 32 years. He attended Southwest Texas State University and received his BA and his Master's Degree. Mr. Hall is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary V. Hall; children, Lee W. Hall and wife Margaret; Becky Rubin and husband Jason; grandchildren, Jennifer Patter-son, Lauren Hermes, Tess Hermes and Willa Rubin; great granddaughter, Jessica Patterson. The vigil service was held on Wednesday, February 5, 2003 at 7 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Dr. The Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated on Thursday, February 6, at 10 a.m. at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Dr. at Callaghan with Fr. Patrick Ragsdale as celebrant. The entombment followed at the Holy Cross cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation was on Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. at the funeral home. Maria N. Martinez, age 71, of Poteet, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2003 in a San Antonio hospital. She was born September 8, 1931 in Poteet. She was a homemaker all her life, taking care of her family. She is survived by three sons, Francisco Martinez and wife of Poteet; Felix Martinez and wife Rose of Poteet; Tomas Martinez of Houston; a daughter, Angie Hernandez and husband Gilbert of Poteet; two sisters, Virginia Goins and husband Henry, and Juana Guzman, all of Poteet; 14 grandchildren: Gilbert-John, Christopher, Michael Angelo, Anna, Cynthia, Melinda, Stephanie, Natasha, Joshua, Marlayna, Felix III, J. J., Cody and Gabrielle; and nine great grandchildren; special friend, Lupe Olivarri; and care giver, Cruz Navarro. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesus and Simona (Cordero) Oliva, her husband, Felix Martinez Sr., and a daughter, Mary Ann Guzman. Robert Bradley Nickelson, age 69, of Pleasanton, passed away Sunday, February 9, 2003 in a local nursing home. He was born in San Antonio on April 10, 1933 and had been employed as a general laborer. He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Henry Adler, Pleasanton; Dede and David Richardson, and Glen and Amy Adler, all of Norwood, Missouri; Gene and Becky Higdon, Hubert, North Carolina; a cousin, Jane Ormand, Jourdanton; and several great-nieces and -nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Graveside services will follow at 4:30 p.m. in Jourdanton City Cemetery. Orozco
Adelina Orozco, age 75, a lifetime resident of Jourdanton, Texas passed away at her home on February 6, 2003. Mrs. Orozco was born to Cipriano and Cresencia Estrada Sanchez on November 29, 1927. She married Erasmo Orozco on April 5, 1946, who preceded her in death on November 16, 2001. She was a good wife, mother and grandmother who loved to have her children around her for family gatherings. She was an excellent cook and before her health failed, she liked to work in her yard, raise chickens and loved to play Bingo. Preceding her in death were her parents and one daughter, Ava Orozco. She is survived by three daughters; Mary and Jo Ann Orozco, both of Jourdanton, and Dora Orozco of San Antonio, Texas; two sons, Desiderio Orozco of Pleasanton, Texas and son and daughter-in-law Roy and Juanita Orozco of Roscoe, Texas; three sisters, Rosanda Alvarado and Jovita Mancha, both of Jourdanton, and Gavila Perez of Arizona; two brothers, Sandalio Sanchez of San Antonio and Celestino Sanchez of Jourdanton; eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers were Michael, Lee and Dora Orozco, Manuel Bemedia, Joe De La Rosa and Larry Wetterneck. Visitation was held Sunday, Feb. 9, from 12 noon to 9 p.m. A rosary and vigil was held in the chapel of Tri-City Funeral Home, Sunday, Feb. 9, at 7:30 p.m. On Monday, Feb. 10, at 10:30 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial was conducted at St. Matthew's Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis McHugh officiating. Interment followed in the San Jose cemetery in Jourdanton under the direction of Tri-City Funeral Home of Jourdanton, Texas, Thomas A. Lange, Funeral Director.
Palfy
John M. Palfy, age 49, General Manager of the San Miguel Lignite Mine of The North American Coal Corporation in Christine, Texas, died on Monday, January 27, in Fort Washington, Pennsylvania, after a short illness. John is survived by his wife, Susan and their son, John, Jr. John began his career with North American Coal in 1975 after graduating from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Mining Engineering. He worked in various supervisory positions in North American Coal's underground mines in Ohio before transferring to surface operations in New Mexico and Texas. He also served in management positions in North American Coal's Corporate Office in Dallas, Texas. John was promoted to General Manager of the San Miguel Lignite Mine in 1997. He will be missed by all his friends and associates throughout the Company. A memorial service was held Thursday, Feb. 6, at 4 p.m. at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Jourdanton. James A. Duck, age 72, of Von Ormy, Texas, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2003 in Jourdanton. He was born in Binger, Oklahoma on June 22, 1930. He was retired from the military. He is survived by his wife, Lucia Duck of Von Ormy; three sons'Danny Duck and wife Karen of Savannah, Tenn.; John Earl Duck of Corpus Christi; and Anthony H. Duck of Von Ormy and fiancee Dee Dee Tapp; a daughter-in-law, Janice Evans of Mico; two sisters, Ethel Coker and husband Clifford; and Norma Lee Miller, all of Oklahoma; and five grandchildren - Michael, Danielle, Harley, Stone and Jazzmyn. Visitation was held Feb. 10 from 7-8 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home. Graveside services were conducted Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 9:15 a.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Smith
Willard Smith, age 88, of Dallas, Texas, passed away Monday, February 10, 2003 after a short illness. Willard was born in Jourdanton, Texas on October 27, 1914, graduated from Jourdanton High School and attended the University of Texas where he graduated with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1932. He practiced engineering and land surveying in Jourdanton but spent most of his career in the construction business building roads and runways all over the state. Until he retired, he was an owner of Willard Smith Construction Company in Dallas. He is survived by his son, Mac Smith, his daughter-in-law, Louise Smith; and three grandchildren, Audrey Pinkerton, Rosalie Galliver and Byron Smith, all of Dallas. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Marie Morris, Willie Mae Burrer and Ruth Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lou Emma. Visitation will be held Friday evening, Feb. 14, from 2-8 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton, Texas. Services will be held at the Christine Methodist Church in Christine, Texas at 10 a.m. Sat., Feb. 15. Burial will be at the Christine City Cemetery. Gribbon
John H. Gribbon, age 62, of Pleasanton, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2003 in San Antonio after a long battle with heart disease. He was born in Three Rivers, Texas on December 10, 1940. John led an extraordinary life and left a lasting impact on those he knew. After 20 years of military service, John continued to serve his country in the civil service until his retirement in 1995. John's sharp wit and winning sense of humor were rivaled only by his generosity and humanity and the unmistakable Irish twinkle in his eyes. He will be missed terribly by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife, Susan K. Welch; his granddaughter, Holly M. Gribbon; son, Chief Petty Officer Timothy M. Gribbon, USN, and wife Sherry and their children, Jonathan and Sarah; daughters, Tina-Carol Gribbon and Kathleen J. Gribbon, as well as a host of close friends and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Carolyn Gribbon, and a son, John H. Gribbon II. 'Dance as if no one were watching, sing as if no one were listening and love like you will never get hurt.' Harris
Julius Buford Harris of Christine, passed away on January 30, 2003 in Jourdanton. He went to be with the Lord at the age of 71 years. He was born on June 26, 1931 in Christine, Texas. He was a member of the Christine United Methodist church where he served as a trustee of the church and on the administrative board. For most of his life he was a rancher out in the Avant Community. He was a quiet man who loved his family, church, taking care of his cattle, feeding the birds and watching wildlife. In the very early part of his life he worked in the oil field. He is survived by his wife, Bettye Harris of Christine; daughter, Terri Cook and husband Richard of Houston; sons, Ronny Dwain Harris of Los Alamos, N. Mex.; and Jerry Harris and wife Nancy of Christine; grandchildren, Meagan Harris, Lauren Wilson, Kate Wilson and Mandy Cook; sisters, Bert West and husband Woody of Pleasanton; and Maxine Carter and husband Amos of Pleasanton. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. Harris and Lavelle Harris and a brother, Dwain Harris. Services were held February 3 at 10 a.m. at the Christine United Methodist Church. Francis David 'Chink' Howard went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 1, 2003. He was born September 10, 1922 in Eagle Pass, the youngest child of Elijah Howard and Mary Cathrine Murphy. A graduate of Poteet High School, he served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a business owner spending much of his life in and around Poteet and the West Texas communities of Marfa, Fort Davis and Alpine. At the time of his passing, he lived in Hondo. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers - James Wiley Howard, Burton Elijah Howard; sisters - Esther Belle 'Sally' Rentz and Marie Ivanora Hearn. He is survived by his wife, Erna Howard of Hondo; a brother, Joe M. Howard of Poteet; children, Helen Gwynne Stewart of George Town; Chester Burton Howard of Houston, David Murphy Howard of Buda and George Walter Howard of White Oak; grandchildren, Miranda Gonzales, Melissa Stewart; Cody, Mindi, Ashley, Allison and Brandy Howard; great grandchildren, Cash Stewart, Jennifer Gonzales and Austin Davis. Lester
James C. 'Bubba' Lester, age 76, of Pleasanton, was taken by our Lord into eternal rest on January 31, 2003 after a long battle with cancer and Alzheimer's Disease. Bubba was born in the oil fields of Corsicana, Texas, his dad working for Humble Oil Refining Co. After a progression of moves, Bubba spent his last years of school in Freer, Texas, graduating in 1943. He worked for the post office before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force. After his time in the service, he went to work as summer vacation relief for Humble Oil and Refining Co. where he worked for 40 years, retiring in 1986 as a Senior Field Superintendent. After retirement, he continued as a consultant and instructor with Exxon until he was diagnosed with cancer. Bubba was a faithful member of the Pleasanton Church of Christ and actively involved in the work there until diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease a few years ago. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a devoted family man. He is survived by his wife, Alice Lester of Pleasanton; a daughter, Pat Sharp, Pleasanton; a son, Rick Lester of Crosby; granddaughters, Wendi Short and husband Jerrod of Stinnett, Texas; and Heather Lynn Applewhite and husband Chad of Corpus Christi; grandson, Jamie Sharp, Pleasanton; great grandsons Alex Applewhite, Hunter Applewhite, Zachary Applewhite and Clay Lester of Crosby, Texas; a sister-in-law, Becky Titsworth and husband E.A. of Pleasanton; Shirley Lester, Pleasanton; Dorothy Beare and husband Jack of Rising Star, Texas; Mary Eklund, Pleasanton; brother-in-law, Roger Croft, Salado, Texas; a niece, Julie Knowles and husband Ken of Pleasanton; and Jackie Coker, Duncanville; a nephew, Mike Lester; two great nieces, one great nephew, three great-great nephews, two great-great nieces and numerous cousins. Rocky Wayne Neill, age 46, of Jourdanton, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2003 at his home. He was born on January 5, 1957 in Corpus Christi, Texas. During his career he worked as a roughneck in the oil fields. He is survived by his mother, Joyce (Johnson) Neill of Jourdanton; a daughter, Roxie Lee Neill of Austin; a brother, Anthony F. Virginia Elizabeth House Pawelek, age 73, of Jourdanton, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2003 in Jourdanton. She was born to Jim and Stella House on Aug. 16, 1929, in San Antonio. She graduated from Charlotte High School, attended business college and worked at the Atascosa County Courthouse prior to marrying Pete E. Pawelek on December 10, 1950. From that time on she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Virginia unexpectedly passed away in her sleep in Jourdanton. She is survived by her six children and their spouses: Edna Ulbrich and Bryce of Jourdanton; Pete J. Pawelek and Lynse, Pleasanton; Jesse Pawelek and Nancy; Ruby Schumacher and Mark; Elizabeth Reich and Ty; and Buster Pawelek and Cathy, all of Jourdanton. A loving grandmother, she is survived by her 16 grandchildren: Peter Pawelek, Zach Pawelek, Jake Pawelek, Clayton Pawelek, Jay Pawelek, Keith Pawelek, Weston Pawelek, Kristy Schumacher, Deanna Schumacher, Avery Schumacher, Page Reich, Dustin Reich and TJ Reich, Seth Ulbrich, Carson Ulbrich and Garrett Pawelek; Surviving siblings include Lloyd House, Jimmy House and Arley House; and an aunt, Lavada Burggett of Jourdanton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Pawelek; her parents, Jim and Stella House; a brother, Billy House; and a sister, Arlene Fischer. Father Francis McHugh officiated at the services. Robertson
Freda Mae Robertson, age 78, of Bastrop, Texas, passed away Sunday, February 2, 2003 at her home. She was born on June 23, 1924 in Sandflat, Texas. She is survived by her husband, Edgar Robertson of Bastrop; two daughters, Brenda Enis of Falfurrias and Madelyn Robertson of Wimberly; a brother, Jimmy Cook of Luling; a sister, Billie Nell Taylor of Jourdanton; two grandchildren, Shawn Enis of Arlington and Shelby Enis of Falfurrias; and two great grandchildren, Jonathan and Emily. She was preceded in death by her parents, Will and Nellie (Smelly) Cook. Visitation was held Monday, Feb. 3, from 2-8 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton. Barrows
Robert Barrows, age 75, of Pleasanton, died peacefully at home on Friday, January 24, 2003. He was born to Hubert and Lila Ott Barrows on April 16, 1927 in Pittsburg, Kansas. The family moved to San Antonio when he was two years old. After high school, he joined the Air Force during World War II and was stationed for two years in Panama. After the war he came home and went to Trinity University where he graduated in two years with a B.A. degree. He ultimately went to Southwest Texas, earning a Master's degree in Business and Education. He was principal of Morrill Elementary School, retiring in 1987 after serving the Harlandale Independent School District for 33 years. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Barrows, Pleasanton; son, Thomas Cardwell Barrows and wife Alexandra of San Antonio; two stepsons, John Lebrecht, Pleasanton, Chris Lebrecht of San Antonio; stepdaughter, Julia Lebrecht of San Antonio; two brothers, Max Barrows of San Antonio; LeVaughn Barrows and wife Joyce of San Antonio; four grandchildren, Thomas Cardwell Barrows Jr., William Pickens, Jaime Lebrecht, and Megan Lebrecht all of San Antonio; and numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held Tuesday, January 28, at 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Pleasanton with the Rev. John Van Duesen officiating. Garza
Maria R. Garza, age 72, of San Antonio, passed away Monday, January 20, 2003 in a San Antonio hospital. She was born as a set of twins in Pleasanton, Texas on November 11, 1930. She was the daughter of Ramon Rodriguez and Julia Gomez Rodriguez. Although she lost her mother shortly after she was born, she was raised by her dad, step-mom and older sisters. Maria was one of 13 children. On April 4, 1948 (Easter Sunday), Maria Rodriguez married her childhood sweetheart, Guadalupe Leal Garza. They then moved to San Antonio where they both worked for the Harlandale Independent School District as custodians. Their second home known to all was Flanders Elementary School. She worked for Harlandale for 25 years until she retired. Maria and Guadalupe Garza had three children: Juan J. Garza, Julia Franco and Yolanda Rodriguez, all of San Antonio, Texas. She also had ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was affectionately called, 'Memo Lupe and Grandma' by all her grandchildren. She was an active member until her recent illness to the Harlandale Senior Citizen Center where she loved her arts and crafts. She found pleasure in working with arts and crafts such as sewing, popsicle stick craft, making dolls, cross stitching and needlepoint. She was also always available for a last minute halloween costume. With whatever her grandchildren were doing, Maria was always supportive and anxious to see what they were all involved in. It brought her great joy to see them succeed in everything they did. When it was time to go see a program or event that they were involved in she would always say, 'Si Vienen a levantar me' (Come pick me up). We love you Mom, Grandma, we miss you already. Maria is survived by her husband, Guadalupe L. Garza; a son, Juan Garza and wife Mary; two daughters, Julia Franco and husband Robert; and Yolanda Rodriguez and husband Benjamin, all of San Antonio; a brother, Carlos Rodriguez, Pleasanton; four sisters, Anita Rodriguez, Los Angeles, Cal.; Margarita Escalante, Pleasanton; Estella Talamantez, Elmendorf; and Helen Zamora, Luling; three brothers, Jesus Rodriguez, San Marcos; Joe Rodriguez, Sacramento, Cal.; and Luis Rodriguez, Pleasanton; a sister, Minnie Leal, Pleasanton; 10 grandchildren: Debra Figueroa, Patricia Ann Garza-Gonzalez, Cynthia Lopez, Elizabeth Ann Moreno, Eric Bustamante, Evelyn Marie Garza, Yvette Bustamante Martinez, Sylvia Jean Franco, Robert Franco Jr. and Theresa Marie Rodriguez; and 12 great grandchildren: Melinda Diane Franco, Matilda L. Lopez, Samantha Franco, John Joseph Lopez, Janice Rose Lopez, Madeline Rose Garza-Gonzalez, Erica Lorane Bustamante, Nathan Figueroa, Elijah Samuel Bustamante, Carlos Jacinto Martinez, Samuel Joseph Lopez and Jacinto Martinez III. She was preceded in death by her twin brother, Jose Rodriguez; and by siblings Ramon Rodriguez and Luisa Gallegos. Valdamar T. Pacheco, age 58, of Dallas, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at his home. He was born in Pleasanton, Texas on July 6, 1944. He worked as a cement contractor. He is survived by his father, Merced Pacheco of Pleasanton; four sons, Valdamar Pacheco Jr. of Alba, Texas; David Lee Pacheco, Johnny Pacheco and Allen Pacheco, all of Arizona; five daughters, Mary Turner, Alba; Margie Martinez, Frances Alvarez and Teresa Franco, all of Dallas; and Sara Gomez of Memphis, Tenn.; 14 grandchildren: Michael Turner, Paul Pacheco, Randy Pacheco, Elicia Molina, Angela Martinez, Nicolas Guerra Jr., Jose Arenas, Victor Arenas, Tony Dabila Jr., Amanda Villagran, Luis Villagran, Gabriela Franco, Selena Franco and Marin Morales Jr.; five great grandchildren, Mikeala Turner, David Michael Turner Jr., Juan Antion Molina III, Joseph Molina and Nicolas Guerra III. Pattillo
Robert 'Bob' Pattillo, age 64, of Stephenville, Texas, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2003 in Stephenville. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 3, 1938. He served in the United States Coast Guard. During his life he worked as a carpenter, as a tow boat pilot and commercial shrimper as well as a police officer. On June 30, 1972, he married his wife, Linda, in San Antonio. Bob loved life and his family. Above all, he loved his wife. His death is a great loss for all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Linda Pattillo; a son, David Pattillo of Dallas; two daughters, Terry Simpson and husband Tim of Willis; and Amy Smith and husband Chris of Alvin; grandchildren, Kristy, Katie, Jason, Amanda, Jake and Britton; a brother, Elton Leroy Pattillo; a sister, Barbara Pattillo; a cousin, Jim McDonald; his mother-in-law, Hazel Miller and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Kent Pattillo and a grandson, Joey Monroe. A memorial service was held Sunday, January 26, at 2:30 p.m. at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Hannah officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Fosters Home for Children. Arrangements were by Stephenville Funeral Home of Stephenville, Texas.
