Adrian Donald Hill, Sr.
Adrian Hill Sr., 77, of Kerrville died on Wednesday, April 10, 2002 at Knopps Nursing Home #1 in Fredericksburg. Adrian, or 'A.D.' was born to Thomas Watt Hill and Armentia Melissa Buckelew on June 10, 1924 in Rocky Creek located in Bandera County. He married Betty Lenora Palmer in November, 1943. She preceded his death in July, 2000. In the 1940s, Mr. Hill was a member of the Kerrville Fire Department. He also drove for the Kerrville Bus Company in the early 1950s. He started Hill's Wrecking Yard in 1955 and operated it until 1965. He was employed at the YO Ranch from 1965 to 1970. From 1970 to 1995, Mr. Hill owned and operated Hill's Auction Barn on Guadalupe Street in Kerrville. He was a past member of the Texas Auctioneer Association. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. Hill was baptized into the Baptist faith on April 1, 2001 at Sunrise Baptist Church in Kerrville. He is survived by two sons, Don and wife Stella of Stonewall and Randy and wife Suzanne of Atascosa, three sisters, Mae Constanzo and Sadie Constanzo of Atascosa and Patsy Strasheim of Ingram and by five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 15 at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Kerrville with Rev. Phil Tilden officiating. Interment followed at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Memorial remembrances may be made to the Cowboy Church, HCR4, Box 545, Kerrville, 78028, or to a charity of one's choice.

Lorine Bringhurst
Lorine Bringhurst, 85, of Pipe Creek died on Saturday, April 13. 2002 at her son's residence. She was born Jan. 23, 1917 in Batson to John and Isabel Sturkie Butler. On May 16, 1942, she married William L. Bringhurst Sr. in Houston. He survives. Mrs. Bringhurst was a retired attendance clerk for the public school system and served as president of the Harris County March of Dimes Association for many years. In addition to her husband Bill of Pipe Creek, survivors include William 'Bill' Bringhurst Jr. and wife Jackie of Bandera and George 'Mike' Bringhurst and wife Carol of Houston, five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. Services were held on Tuesday, April 16 at 1 p.m. at Grimes Chapel with Mr. Martin Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Pipe Creek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tom Parker, Claude Lindley, Sergio Ortega, Don Ploeger, Brandon Little and Kevin Steffenauer. Memorials may be made to the Pipe Creek EMS. Arrangements were under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapel of Bandera.

Thomas L. Treadaway
Thomas L. Treadaway, 40, of Austin, died April 14, 2002, in an Austin Hospital. Treadaway was born July 18, 1961 in Pampa, Texas. He attended Center Point High School and New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, N.M. He went to state on the golf team at Center Point and played on the varsity tennis team at New Mexico Military Institute. He loved hunting and fishing and was a great cook. Treadaway was a Catholic and took his first communion at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kerrville. He recently moved to Austin, where he was employed by Caollway Golf Equipment Company. Survivors include his parents, Rolland T. Treadaway of Noble, Okla. And Patricia M. Campbell of Kerrville; two sisters, Linda Sue and her husband Roy Fourr of Farmington, N.M. and Dina Louise Genovese and her husband Dan of Kildeer, Ill.; several uncles, aunts, cousins and friends in the Hill Country and in England. Services were held Wednesday, April 17, at Overby Funeral Home with Deacon Charles Domingues officiating. Burial followed in the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Pall bearers were cousins Dr. David Risinger of Waco, Drew Risinger of Waco and Dr. Brad Risinger of Kerrville, and good friends Duane Simpson, Sam Santos and Phil Brassell, all of Kerrville. Memorials may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul society of Kerrville. Arrangements by Overby Funeral Home.

Ida Deason Word
Ida Deason Word, 100, died April 20, 2002 in San Antonio. She was born near Stockdale on Sept. 3, 1901, to Charles Y. and Sarah Ava Deason. In the early 1920s she taught school in Utopia where she met her husband, Roy K. Word. A dedicated Christian since childhood, she devoted a life of love to her church, family, and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Nina W. Pierce, Joy W. Ross, Sue W. Sostarich and her husband, John F. Sostarich; daughter-in-law Joyce P. Word; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, and son John D. Word. Services were held at Parkhills Baptist Church in San Antonio on April 24, followed by interment in Bandera Cemetery.

Lee Wells Graham, Jr.
Lee Wells Graham, Jr. died Saturday, April 20, 2002, at the Emery J. Lilge Hospice House in Fort Worth. Graham was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Alice, the son of Lee Wells and Mary Lou Floyd Graham, Sr. He married Vera Marie Hayes on Dec. 1, 1951, in Waurika, Okla. He served his country in the United States Army, worked for Nation Wide Papers, retired March 1, 1996, and was a 50-year member of the Medina Masonic Lodge. Graham is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie Hayes Graham of Mansfield; sons, Lee Wells Graham III of Louisville, Ky. And Gary Graham of Mansfield; daughter, T.L. Graham Davis of Mansfield; brothers, Perry Ray Graham of Tuleta, Glenn Graham of San Antonio, and Mark Graham of Kingsville; sisters, Nancy Graham Sperry and Susan Graham Watson, both of Corpus Christi; loving step-mother, Grace Graham of Corpus Christi; and eight grandchildren. Graham was preceded in death by daughter, Karen LeRea Graham; sister, Naurene Graham Apfel; brother, Dale Graham; and his loving parents. Services for Graham, a retired Lt. Col. From the U.S. Army, were held at 10:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 23, 2002, at the Blessing Colonial Chapel, with interment and military honors following at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas. Reverend Mike Ramsdell of the First United Methodist Church of Mansfield officiated. Pallbearers were Robert Kanehl, John Miller, Darrell Price, Roger Stutzman, Dave Tyler, and Al Hinshaw. Beaufort Noel was an honorary pallbearer. Arrangements were under the direction of Blessing Funeral Home.

Jane Mildred Postert
Jane Mildred Postert, 78, of Bandera, died April 21, 2002. She was born March 30, 1924, in Hoboken, N.J. Survivors include husband Henry Postert of Bandera; daughters, Patty Martin of San Antonio, Katherine Dennis of Cleveland, Ohio, Mary Elizabeth Montgomery of Ingram; sons, Daniel Schaefer of San Antonio, Tim Postert of Kerrville; sister Mary Seguin of Carson City, Nev.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be held at 3 p.m. at St. Benedictine Convent Chapel on April 26, with burial to follow at Holy Angels Cemetery. Arrangements are with Ebensberger Funeral Home.

George 'Clif' Waterman
George 'Clif' Waterman, 92, of Pipe Creek, died Sunday, April 21, 2002, at his residence. He was born May 24, 1909 in Boerne to George and Della Anderson Waterman. On May 24, 1989, he married Genevieve Crouch in Lakehills. She survives. Mr. Waterman moved to Lakehills in 1963. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, Past Master of Bandera Masonic Lodge, Lifetime member of the Eastern Star, received the Golden Trowel Award from Bandera Masonic Lodge, one of the Founding Members and first President of the Medina Lake Betterman's Association, Knight Templar with 'Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Texas', 30 year member of Lakehills United Methodist Church and past Choir Director, member of the Harlendale Chapter of 'Jaycees', member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 35, Certified Hamm Radio Operator, a pilot for over 56 years, bought his first airplane for $135 and built numerous aircraft, and worked for over 32 years at Kelly Air Force Base as a Jet Engine Specialist and in Administration. In addition to his wife Genevieve, survivors include two step-daughters, Jean Johnson of Pipe Creek and Nona Hearn of Bandera; two step-sons, Jim Seaton of Stafford, and Charles Northern of Houston; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and very close and dear friends Joe and Virginia Davis of Bandera. He was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Waterman. Services were held Thursday, April 25, 2002 at Grimes Chapel, with Rev. Ellen Ely officiating. Graveside services followed in Bandera Cemetery under the auspices of Bandera Masonic Lodge #1123, A.F.&A.M. Pallbearers were Phil Becker, Leland Barrett, Fritz Hopperstead, Paco Moore, Ernie Reich III, Art Sosa, Red Weathers, and Warren Wheeler. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Bandera Masonic Lodge #1123 A.F.&A.M. Memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 420 Water St., Kerrville, TX 78028. Arrangements are under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapel of Bandera.

Leonard Dowlearn
Leonard Dowlearn, 71, of Bandera, died Thursday, April 25, 2002, in a Kerrville hospital. He was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Karnes City to Walter Ray and Effie Yates Dowlearn. Dowlearn was a member of the American Legion, a well known guitar player around Bandera County and an avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include his beloved Thelma of Wharton's Dock; daughter, Lisa Miller and husband Gary of Houston; son, Charlie Dowlearn of Okla.; sister, Stella Malsmeyer of Poteet; and nephew, Walter Dowlearn and wife Laurie and their children, Crystal and Ashley Dowlearn, all of Wharton's Dock. Memorial services were held Monday, April 29, at Bandera First Baptist Church, with Rev. Frank Pullin officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapel of Bandera.

Gary Trenkelbach Sr.
Gary Trenkelbach Sr., 62, of Pipe Creek died on Friday, April 26, 2002, at his residence. He was born on July 30, 1939, in San Antonio to Otto R. and Mada Bradshaw Trenkelbach. He married Peggy Ridge in Bowie County on April 1, 1972. She survives. Mr. Trenkelbach served as an infantry officer in the U.S. Army and retired after 27 years of service. In addition to his wife Peggy, survivors include his mother, Mada Trenkelbach of Boerne; two daughters, Nancy Ross and husband Jim of Cut N' Shoot and Tammy Eubanks and husband Russell of Johnson City; two sons, Gary K. Trenkelbach Jr. of San Antonio and Ronnie White and wife Linda of Seguin; brother Jack Trenkelbach and wife Sandy of Pipe Creek; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a special extended family, Rich and Hermalinda O'Leary, Paul and Gloria McMullen, Ron and Mary Sims and Phil and Joan Girmus. He was preceded in death by his father, Otto Trenkelbach, on Feb. 14, 2002. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, April 30, at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors. The Rev. Ellen Ely officiated. Memorials may be made to the Lakehills United Methodist Church building fund and/or the Vista Care Hospice, 420 Water Street, Kerrville, 78028. Arrangements were under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapel.

Urban 'Coby' Jureczki
Urban 'Coby' Jureczki, 82, of Bandera, died Friday, April 26, 2002, in a Hondo hospital. He was born Sept. 17, 1919 in Bandera to Urban and Mary Josephine Kalka Jureczki. He retired from the Texas Highway Department after 25 years of dedicated service here in Bandera County, member of the Texas Farm Bureau, a very avid lifelong farmer and rancher in Bandera County, very devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather, loved to hunt and fish, he never met a stranger and loved people, he was a descendant of the original Polish settlers, and he was Bandera's local seasonal watermelon man. He married Estelle Lopez in May of 1949 in Pipe Creek. Survivors include his wife Estella of Bandera; two daughters, Mary Ann Ruskin and husband Brian of San Antonio, and Elaine Barnes and husband Ed of Cibolo; three sons, David Lee Jureczki and wife Elaine of San Antonio, Daniel Jureczki and wife Debbie of Crestview, Fla., and Lawrence Jureczki and wife Karen of Spring Branch; two sisters, Mary Gladys Yates of San Antonio, and Alice Mae Elkins of San Antonio; one brother, Howard Jureczki of San Antonio; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons, Coby Charles Jureczki in 1965 and Bryce Dwayne Jureczki in 1940; and brother, Emil Jureczki in 1961. Services were held Monday, April 29 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with Father Einer Ochoa and Father Stanley Oleksey officiating. Interment followed in the New Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Kelly Scott, Leslie G. Biermann, James D. Duff, Jr., Juan Fernandez, Bruce Eliker and Paul Algueseva, Jr. Arrangements were under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapel of Bandera.

Edwin Vawter
Edwin Vawter, 93, of Pipe Creek, died Sunday, April 28, 2002, at his residence. He was born March 30, 1909, in Pipe Creek to George Lewis and Junie Dickerson Vawter. On Dec. 7, 1936, he married Thelma Jeane Johnson. She survives. He was a lifelong Bandera County rancher, a descendant of a Bandera County pioneer family, delivered propane to many Bandera County residents, was in law enforcement, and some years ago gave land to the Baptist Church of Pipe Creek. Survivors include his wife Thelma Jean of Pipe Creek; two daughters, Patricia Renton and husband Tom of Pipe Creek, and Joy Richter and husband Tom of Pipe Creek; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services were held on May 1 at Grimes Chapel with Rev. Dennis Thompson officiating. Interment followed in the Bandera Cemetery. Pallbearers were Waynne Rogers, Ray Marvin Hay, Thomas Kindla, Jay Edwards, Doug White and Gene Reude. Memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice, 430 Water St., Kerrville, TX 78028. Arrangements were under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapel of Bandera.

James Henry Lewis
James Henry Lewis, 78, died May 3, 2002, at the Town & Country manor in Boerne. He was born in Sabinal on Oct. 16, 1923. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Rigsby and Sarah Elizabeth Lewis and one infant son. He served several years in the U.S. Navy and prior to a stroke in 1976, did long haul cattle trucking. He was a long time resident of Uvalde and Leakey. Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Theresa Hans Lewis of Bailey, Colo; sons, James Michael Lewis and wife Lee of Pensacola, Fla., Butch Chisum and wife Louann of San Antonio, Danny Allen Lewis and wife Carol of San Jose, Calif., and Hans Rigsby Lewis and wife Valice of Leakey; daughters Patricia Ann Rice and husband Danny (Skip) Rice of Barksdale, Mary Porter and husband Les Porter of Bailey, Colo., Molly Newborn and husband Glen Newborn of Deliner, and Ginger Anderson and husband Lee of Roundrock; brother, Harley Woodward Lewis and wife Mary Ethel Lewis of Almagorda, N.M.; sister, Georgia May Grubbs of Uvalde; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Burial was Sunday, May 5, in the Jones Cemetery in Utopia.

Harry 'Doc' Fleming, Jr.
Harry 'Doc' Fleming, Jr. Went to meet the Lord on May 5, 2002, after losing his battle with Alzheimer's. He was 85 years old. He was born on August 21, 1916, in Lake Charles, La., to Harry L. Fleming, Sr. And Louise Henrietta See Fleming. His parents and one sister June Keifer preceded him in death. Survivors include his wife, Alicia Valadez Fleming of Kerrville, formerly of Bandera, whom he married in 1961; his children, Mela Steimle of California, Jon Anthony Rodriguez of New York, Kelli Marci Fleming of San Antonio, Molly Fleming of Arizona, Rhonda Camille Fleming of Austin, Harry Fleming, III, and wife Dianne of Kerrville and Christine Fleming of Kerrville. Survivors also include his five grandchildren, Michael Conchin of San Antonio, Sonny Reed of San Antonio, Davin Ripley of Lubbock, Meredith Boles of College Station and Haley Fleming of Maine. He had three great-grandchildren as well. Mr. Fleming led his life to the fullest. He was a registered pharmacist for 52 years, a qualified airplane pilot and instructor, a race car driver, a chiropractor, homeopathic doctor, and golden gloves hopeful. In addition to those, he also became a policeman and worked as a constable in San Antonio for Precincts 3 and 5, a constable in Bandera County for Precinct 3, served as Police Chief in Elmendorf, owned Twin Security Investigations, and was a patrolman for the City of Grey Forest. Harry had such a love for police work and medicine that he made sure his children were involved in some aspect of each. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Grimes Funeral Chapels in Bandera. The funeral mass wias scheduled at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 8, with Rev. Stanley Oleksy, celebrant, followed by burial at the Bandera Cemetery. Pallbearers include Ralph Canales, Michael Conchin, Sonny Reed, Tom Foose, Robbie Valadez, Mark Canales and Bobby Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers are Ralph Canales, Sr., Gilbert Garcia, Humbert Benavides, Bob Suggs, Jim Angell, Doyle Brooks, Mike Bolton, James McMillan and Bill Ellis. Glenn Scales will play bagpipes. Special thanks to Vista Hospice for their superior care of Harry. They do the job that is the most difficult. Memorial remembrances may be made to the Alzheimers Association. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapels.

Jessie Lee Sutton
Jessie Lee Sutton, 73, of Medina, died Thursday, May 9, 2002, at her residence. She was born July 8, 1928, in Juno to Herman and Nellie Bendele. On Dec. 15, 1946, she married Jim Sutton in Ozona. He preceded her in death on July 19, 1995. She was a rancher, a member of the American Sheep Industry and the Texas Sheep and Goat Raiser's, American Quarterhorse, and Cattle associations. Survivors include one daughter, Frances Greer and husband James Leo Greer, III, of Rocksprings; two sons, James Preston Sutton and Wayne Wesley Sutton both of Rocksprings; two sisters, and one brother. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Jo Sutton in 1985. Graveside services were scheduled for Saturday, May 11, at Oak Rest Cemetery with the Rev. Gerald Evans officiating. Pallbearers were Jack Clark, Ivan Stavinoha, Jim Morriss, Jimmy Greer, Albert Thorn and Wes Cox. Honorary pallbearers were John Burney, Melvin Myers and Junior Briscoe. Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Grimes Funeral Chapel of Bandera.
