Claudio Altarmirano
RUNGE - Claudio Altamirano, 82, of Runge died at his residence Tuesday, June 16, 1992, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Altamirano was born Aug. 23, 1909, in Yorktown to the late Luciano and Luisa De Los Santos Altamirano. He married the former Lilia Gutierrez on Nov. 29. 1936, in Runge, was a self-employed farmer and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Runge. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Delta Saenz, Corinna McKenzie, Lillie Hernandez, Mary Lou Flores and Valencia "Josie" Garcia, all of San Antonio, and Elidora Altamirano of Floresville; son, Claudio Joe Altamirano of Victoria; brothers, Arturo Altamirano of Lubbock and Francisco Altamirano of Corpus Christi; 16 grandchildren: and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers. Funeral Mass was held at 4 p.m. Thursday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with the Revs. Michael Kroll and Paschal Bergin officiating. Burial was in the Runge Cemetery under the direction of Eckols Funeral Home, Kenedy. Pallbearers were Roland Gonzales, Daniel Hernandez, Paul Hernandez, Steven Morrow, Jeffery Morrow and Joseph Altamirano.

Ethel Metting
SAN ANTONIO - Ethel Metting of San Antonio, Texas since 1946, and formerly of Liverpool, England, passed away Saturday morning, June 20, 1992, at her home after a short illness at the age of 66 years. She was born on August 11, 1925 in Liverpool, England, to the late Thomas and Emily Youds Stevens. She married Gustav Melting on Oct. 19, 1945 in Liverpool, England. She was a housewife and a member of the Lutheran faith. She manufactured bombs in England during World War II and was a ticket collector on a trolley in Liverpool where she met her husband. She also was a cafeteria worker for the San Antonio I.S.D. for a number of years. Funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 22, 1992, at the Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home chapel with Brother Todd Perry of the Open Bible Baptist Church-Yorktown officiating. Burial was in the Westside Cemetery-Yorktown. Pallbearers were Raymond Weischwill, Norris Schultz, Felton Schultz, Robert Ibarra, Hollis Fletcher and David Metting. Survivors include four daughters, Kathy Turk of Sommerset, Diane Romans of Houston, Terry Ibarra of San Antonio and Rebbeca Hermes of San Antonio; one son, Kimeth Metting of Bandera; three living sisters in Liverpool, England and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers. Memorials may be made to the Ameriean Heart Assoeiation, American Lung Association or to the donor's choice.

Isidro G. Navarro Jr.
CUERO - Isidro "Ski" Gonzales Navarro, Jr., 29, of Lindenau died in DeWitt County Tuesday. June 16, 1992. Mr. Navarro was born Sept. 21, 1962, in Corpus Christi to Isidro G. and Cecelia Gonzales Navarro Sr. of Lindenau. He was an oilfield derrickman and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife, Diana Villa Williams; daughter. Christina Navarro of Lindenau; stepdaughter, Lashron Williams of Cuero; son, Marco Navarro of Lindenau; parents; sister, Guadalupe Garcia of Yorktown; brothers, Jesse Rodriguez of Houston, Tommy Joe Navarro of San Marcos, Ray Navarro of Port Lavaca and Ruben Navarro of Lindenau; and grandmother, Pauline Amador of Victoria. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Freund Funeral Home chapel. Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Edward Bartsch officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery.

Sofa Elena Gohmert
Sofa Elena Gohmert of Yorktown died on Saturday, June 20, 1992 in the Yorktown Manor Nursing Home at the age of 99 years. She was born on January 4, 1893, in Yorktown to the late Tom Villababous and Clementine Hartman. She married Max Gohmert on August 18, 1937 in San Antonio. He preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church and Eastern Star. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday from the Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home with the Rev. Dave Crabtree officiating. Burial was in the Westside Cemetery in Yorktown. Pallbearers were Leslie Geffert, Ervin Schley, Cleve Baylor, Elmo Seott, W. T. Scott and Del Goehring. Survivors arc nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Methodist chureh or the charity of the donor's choice.

Loren M. Craig
Loren NI. Craig, 72, of Yorktown formerly of Lomita, Calif, died in a local nursing home Wednesday, June 17, 1992, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Craig was born July 17, 1919, in Hastings, Minn., to the late Clarence T. and Hazel Wimer Craig. He was a World War II veteran, a veterans assistant service officer after the war, and married the former Ilsie Schmiedlin on April 25, 1943, in Yorktown. He was a former Scoutmaster for Yorktown Boy Scout Troop 250, whieh he organized in 1957, and helped organize the Yorktown Cub Scouts. He was a former insurance agent for Lutheran Mutual Brotherhood and Prudential Insurance Co., retired after 26 years as a rural letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Yorktown, and was a member of the San Antonio Gem and Mineral Society and the Yorktown St. Paul's Lutheran Church. - Mr. Craig and the Boy Scouts got the first street signs and numbered the homes within the city limits of Yorktown. For the last 20 years he spent following his gem and mineral interest. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Donna Seidel of Austin, Barbara Tiller of Pine Junction, Colo., and Betty "B.J." Young of Denver, Colo.; sons, John Craig of Yorktown and Gordon Craig of Austin; sisters, Lucille Steele of Portland, Ore., Alice Bennett of Carson, Calif., Elaine McCormack of Slanton, Calif., and Claire Sipes of Lomita, Calif.; brothers, Richard Craig of Carson, Calif., Robert Craig of LaFayette, Calif., and Ronnie Craig of Lomita, Calif; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter. Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Pearson of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery under the direction of the Lamprecht-Janssen Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Rudy Villa, David Haverlab, James Warnasch, Douglas Haverlah, Jeff Seidel, and Corbin Seidel. Honorary pallbearers were E. H. "Smitty" Schmiedlin, Roger Tiller and Rodney Seidel. Memorials may be made to the Tammy and Trevor Rabke Trust Fund, Hospice or the donor's own choice.
