Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. with a wake held from 7-8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 4, followed by a funeral service 8:00 p.m. in the chapel of E.R. Johnson Family Mortuary with Rev. Ira Antoine, Jr., officiating.
Stephanie was born in Galveston, Texas on February 2, 1956. She attended public school in Galveston and was a graduate of Ball High School. She also attended Texas Southern University. She was presently employed as a manager with the Whataburger Restaurant.
She is survived by her sons, Victor Hanks, Sr. and Damien Hanks; daughters, Passhun. James was born in Dallas, Texas on October 29, 1945 to Norris and Jennie V. Jones Hare. He was a truck driver and a longtime resident of the LaMarque-Galveston area.
He is survived by his sons, Anthony W. Fred Maury Hasselmeier, III, age 57, passed into serenity early Tuesday, May 21, 2002. A native Galvestonian, Fred was born on January 3, 1945.
One could not ask for a finer father or friend.
Survivors include a daughter Carole and her husband Alex Cruz, a son Jerry, and a granddaughter Sarahbeth Hasselmeier.

F. Paul Head, 71, of Galveston, passed away Friday, January 11, 2002, at Valley Baptist Medical Center in Harlingen, Texas.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 16th, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home. Masonic Funeral Services will be conducted under the auspices of Galveston's Tucker Lodge #297 AF & AM. Father Ronald Pogue will officiate the service.

Paul was born January 12, 1930, in Levy, North Little Rock, Arkansas. He was a resident of Galveston for over 50 years. Paul loved his country and served for over seven years in the U. S. Navy during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was working as a meteorologist on the aircraft carrier U. S. S. Cabot when it visited in Galveston in 1948. This is when Paul met his wife-to-be, and when he was discharged from his service with the Navy, he came immediately to Galveston to be married. He was a faithful and beloved husband to his wife, Elizabeth "Betty," whom he married on February 23 1952, and cherished for close to 50 years.
Paul worked at Monsanto Chemical Company and attended the University of Houston until becoming active in the Galveston community as an agent for the Connecticut Mutual Insurance Company and later into his own business, F. Paul Head Real Estate and Insurance, which he owned for over 20 years. Following this, he joined his son, Phillip, in the yellow page advertising business until his retirement.
Paul was always outspoken with a strong belief in his country and other issues and was well known for his humor. He was an active bridge player and always had a project that he was working on, either repairing or building. Paul was a member of Tucker Lodge #297 AF & AM and the El Mina Shrine.
Paul's love was his family and his activities with his children. He felt the outdoors was his communication with God, although in his younger years he was active as a lay reader, Sunday school teacher, and usher at Trinity Episcopal Church, where he was baptized and married. Golf was his special love and he was an avid and accomplished golfer who played actively until September 2001. He hunted and fished with his sons and enjoyed all parts of the land and sea.
Paul is survived by his wife, Betty Head, of Galveston; his two sons: Robert Paul Head and wife, Kay, and Phillip Lee Head and wife, Rena; and his daughter, Elisabeth Anne; grandchildren: Cara Leah Head, Phillip Lee "P. J." Head, Jr., Jenifer Lynn Head, Kristen Michelle Head, Amanda Elisabeth Hernandez, and Gabriel "Bo" Hernandez; step grandchildren: Tommy Nazifi, Jenifer Walsh, and Kim Florez; brothers and sisters in Arkansas: Doris Barfield, Herbert L. Head and wife, Bobbie; Susan Gammel, Everette D. Head, of Seattle, WA: and Patricia Townsend and husband, Garth, of Kaufman, Texas; brother-in-law: Robert W. Spoor and wife, Joy, of Midland, Texas; cousin-in-law and special buddy, Ormond Farine, Jr., and wife, Patsy; and close friend, Billy Bob Lastovica, of Temple, Texas.

Born November 6, 1901 in Lindenau, Texas, Mrs. Hengst had been a resident of Hitchcock since 1939. She was a gold star mother, having lost her son, Edgar, during WWII. She was a member of St. John s Lutheran Church, the AARP, VFW Post 5400 Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed quilting and sewing.
Preceded in death by her husband, Charles; son, Edgar and daughter, Vernice, survivors include her sons, W.O. Born May 9, 1924 in Garfield, Texas, Mr. Hengst grew up in Garfield, attended La Marque High School, graduated from the University of Houston and lived in Houston for many years before moving to Hitchcock in 1985.
He had been employed as a salesman for Gallery Printing Company for over 20 years, served in the US Army during WWII, attended St. John's Lutheran Church, was a life member of VFW Post 5400 in Santa Fe and the American Legion Post in Spring Branch.
He was preceded in death by his son, Wilburn O. "Bud" Hengst, Jr. and parents, Charles and Elsie Hengst.

She was a member of Sarah CT # 1 Heroine of Jericho, Winn Assembly #234, Order of Golden Circle, Matron of District 15-B, Sigma Phi Theta of Alpha Chi Pi Sorority, State Usher and the 30th Street Neighborhood Club. She was a faithful member of the MT Moriah church where she served on the Usher Board, in Sunday School and with Mission I.

Charles Ellis Horne, 70, of Texas City died Monday, January 28, 2002, at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston. He was born December 9, 1931, in Kosciusko, Mississippi.
Mr. Horne had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean war and had retired from Amoco Chemical Company after 32 years of service in the laboratory. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church . He was Past Grand Knight of the M. J. Babin Knights of Columbus Council 5236 of La Marque and the Past Faithful Navigator of the Matthew H. Wilson 4th Degree Assembly.
Mr. Horne was preceded in death by his father and mother, Robert J. and Thelda Horne of Kosciusko, Mississippi. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Jo Ann Horne of Texas City; son, Charles (Chuck) Horne, Jr. and his wife, Jennie ; two daughters, Cindy DeSanto and her husband, Bobby; and Janet Powell and her husband, Shelby, all of Texas City. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Robby DeSanto, Michelle DeSanto, Lauren Powell, Jennifer Fremin, Leesa Horne, Claire Horne, Shaun Platt, and Kyle Platt. He is also survived by his brother, James Horne and wife, Jimmie, and his sister, Frances Pender and husband, Gerald, all of Kosciusko Mississippi.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 30, 2002, at 5:00 p.m. at the St. Mary's Catholic Church located at the corner of 8th Street and 3rd Avenue, North in Texas City. A vigil service will begin at 7:00 p.m. followed by a Rosary. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 31, 2002, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Father Tom Cullen will officiate.
Burial will follow at the Mount Olivet Cemetery in Dickinson. All arrangements are under the direction of the James Crowder Funeral Home of La Marque.

Viola Minnee Hutton, 87, the strong and loving matriarch of her family, left her earthly home on Monday, March 11, 2002, at the Mainland Medical Center in Texas City. With a sweet expression of at peace, on her face, she received her call to move from this earthly house, to her new heavenly home.
Minnee as she was affectionately call by her family, the name given to her by her daughter, Zeraline, was born to the union of Sam and Josephine Bryant Richardson on July 27, 1914, in Lake Charles, LA. A longtime resident of Galveston She was retired from the laundry-dry cleaning industry. She was a member of the Heroines of Jericho # 282 and Widows Charity Club. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the West Point Baptist Church. She would join the St. Luke Baptist Church where she served as a musician. She would later join the Macedonia Baptist Church where she also served as a musician for many years.
Being preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lee A. Hutton Sr., sons, Luke Morgan, III, Clifford Sam Morgan and daughter, Myrtle Johnson, Minnee leaves her legacy of love to her devoted and caring family; sons, Dr. Lee Aubry Hutton, Jr. (Dianne), Rev. "KeKe" was born September 16, 1989 in Texas City to Wilton Jackson, Jr. and LaTraci Walker Jackson. She attended First United Methodist School for Little People in LaMarque; Pine Drive Christian School in Dickinson and was presently a Sixth Grade Student at LaMarque Middle School. She was active in the School Choir and the Dream Catchers of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. "KeKe" attended Westward Street Church of Christ and Greater Barbours Chapel Baptist Church.
On Sunday, April 28, 2002, "KeKe" went home to be with the Lord at the age of 12. She is preceded in death by her sister, Michaela Brown; grandfather, Odell Walker and great-grandparents, Leonard Gantt, Mary Jackson, Clara Bedford, John Jackson, Eldora Jones, Thomas Bogany, Samuel Houston Walker and Mary Ryan Walker.

"Paulie" was born in Galveston, Texas on August 7, 1930, to Frank and Mildred James. He attended public school in Galveston and was a graduate of Central High School. He was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran and was a retired truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Paula James.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 33 years, Theresa James of Houston; daughter, Sandra Johnson (Charlie) of Fort Worth; stepson, Harold Butler, Jr. (Cheryl) of Huntsville; grandchildren; Theresa Teeny Weeny Johnson, Sherry Johnson, Nyree James, Lil Paul James and Ewing Pee Wee James; great grandson, Miguel Flood; sister, Geneva Brown of Los Angeles, CA; cousins, Mary Foreman, Jeanette and Joe Mitchell; mother in law, Bernice Anderson; sisters in law, Phoebe Fields (Doug), Betty Jackson, Gloria Anderson, Agnes Barefield (Marcus) and Cecile Jones; brothers in law, Theodore Anderson (Laura) and George Anderson (Rose); host of nieces, nephews, other relative and friends.

Mr. Sheppard Jay James, III passed from this life Monday evening, February 4, 2002, at his home.
Born September 27, 1954 in Vidor, Texas, Mr. James had been a resident of Livingston for 10 years, previously of Santa Fe. He had been employed at Huntsville Hospital in the maintenance department for many years, enjoyed motorcycles, guns and liked working on car engines.
He was preceded in death by his father, Sheppard Jay James, Jr. Survivors include his mother and step-father, Elouise and Thomas Bostwick; sons, Jessie Jay James, Ashton Jay James, Sheppard Chase James and Dennis Doss; brother, Charles Allen James; sisters, Julie Ann Buchanan, Brenda Kay Polinard, Tammie Louise James, Quandy Carr and Verna Clark and grandchildren, Paul Koenig and Christina Renee' Doss.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, February 7, 2002, in the chapel of Hayes Funeral Home with Dr. Clark E. Lott, Sr. and Reverend L.M. Jeane officiating. Entombment will follow at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Thomas Bostwick, Billy Hailey, Charles Allen James, Joey Allen James, Calvin Lee Polinard and Jack Ryan. Honorary Casketbearer will be Leroy Ryan.

Harold Raymond Jensen, 78, of Galveston passed away Sunday, March 17, 2002, at Edgewater Retirement Center.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, March 21st, at Malloy & Son Funeral Home with Father Bill Bartniski officiating. Burial will follow the services at South Park Cemetery in Pearland.

Harold was born June 24, 1923, to the late Thorvald Jensen and Katherine Churchwell of Houston. He moved to Galveston and was educated in the public schools. Harold then served in the U. S. Army Air Force during World War II as a B-29 bombardier and was discharged in April 1946 as a 1st Lieutenant.
Harold married Helen Periano in July 1945. He graduated from the University of Houston in 1949 and practiced as a CPA in Galveston until his retirement in 1985.
Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Helen, and two sons: Douglas and Gregory.
He is survived by two sisters, Harriett Clifford, of La Marque; and Elizabeth Warren and husband, Andrew, of Houston; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Johnson and Dorothy Percy Johnson, Fred was employed by the Galveston Yacht Basin for the past 6 years and formerly with First Baptist Church of Galveston for 15 years. He was a Deacon, ordained in 1996 under Reverend J.S. Simpson, a knowledgeable Bible Teacher and Sunday School Superintendent.

Born July 9, 1945 in Wells, Texas, Mr. Jones had been a lifelong resident of Galveston County, residing in Santa Fe since 1974, He had been employed as an automotive technician for Bay Area Auto Service and Walmart -Texas City for many years. Mr. Jones was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and enjoyed fishing, barbecue and working on cars.
He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Ray Jones. Survivors include his wife of over 36 years, Bobbye Jones of Santa Fe; sons, Michael Brooke Jones and Sharon of Santa Fe, Robert James Jones and wife, Lori of Houston; brothers John Jones and his wife, Debbie of Galveston and Jack Jones of Deweyville; sister, Linda Mouton and her

Mr. Jones was born November 2, 1934 in Port Arthur, Texas to Evans Jones and Victoria Jacquot Jones. Mr. Jones is a 1953 graduate of Lincoln High School in Port Arthur; and attended Cisco Junior College where he received an Associate Degree. He served in the United States Air Force for 20 years until his retirement in 1974. He also retired with the City of Texas City after 10 years of service. He was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Texas City.
On Tuesday, April 2, 2002, Mr. Jones departed this earthly life at the age of 67 at the UTMB Hospital in Galveston. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, E. J. and Wesley Jones.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted wife of 47 years, Susana Jones of Texas City; his children, Eltonet (Martin) Charles of Port Arthur, Harold (Karen) Jones, Jr. of Beaumont, Joseph Wayne Jones of Abilene; Michael (Alice) Jones of Texas City, Cassandra Jones of LaMarque, Kenneth N.
