King, William Brady
Funeral services for William Brady King, 54, of Kirbyville and formerly of Beaumont, were held Sunday in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. The Rev. David L. Jenkins, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in Kirbyville Bean Cemetery. Pallbearers were W.A. Guillory, James Sparks, Neal Walker, Leroy Nevils and Wade and Frank Crawford. King died about 10 p.m. Thursday, September 9, 1969 in Veterans Hospital in Houston after an illness of several months. He was a native of Kirbyville, was a veteran of the Navy during World War II, was a member of the Beaumont Masonic Lodge 286, was a member of the Church of Christ and was an electrician. Surviving are his wife Mr. Barbara Creel King, one daughter, Mrs. Nancy Woods of Kirbyville; one sister, Mrs. Orpha Spurlock of Pineland; three brothers, I.D. King of Rusk, I.O. King of Houston, and R.V. King of Port Bolivar, and one grandchild.

Kinney, Isavern M. Kistler
Isavern M. Kistler Kinney, of Jasper died Dec. 12, 2000 in Groves. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Fellowship Baptist Church in Magnolia Springs with burial at Magnolia Springs Cemetery under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. today at the funeral home. A native of Evangeline, La., she lived in Jasper most of her life. Survivors include her husband, Lionel Kinney of Jasper; sons, Charles Ricky Kistler of Gonzalez, and Robert Andrew Kistler and Bobby Lynn Kistler, both of Kyle; stepson, David Kinney of Groves; daughters, Linda Jones of Jasper, Sandra Pickering of Buda and Cynthia Anderson of Tucson, Ariz.; stepdaughters, Kayla Franks and Kelly Eaves, both of Merryville, La., Karla Turner of Evans, La., and Kathy Morrow of Newton; brothers, Murry Lejeune of Groves, and Donald Lejeune and Leward Lejeune, both of Evangeline; sisters, Rena Pousson and Joyce Pousson, both of Groves, Earlene Ackoury of Jennings, La., Edna Pousson of Iota, La., Glenda Vincent of Sulphur, La., and Lenora Gravot of Lafayette, La.; 15 grandchildren; 13 step grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.

Kirbow, Etha Lena
KIRBYVILLE – Funeral for Etha Lena Kirbow, 95, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery at Beulah Springs. She died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 15, 1975 in the Buna Medical Center after a long illness. She was a native of Quitman, La., and had lived here 37 years. Survivors include five daughters, Vera Jones of San Augustine, Mollie Owens of fort Bragg, Calif., Claudia Peters, Threcia Fussel, and Eva Phelps, all of Kirbyville, and four sons, Henry and William S. Kirbow, both of Kirbyville and Cecil and W.R. Kirbow, both of Beaumont

Kirbow, W.S. Sr.
Funeral for W.S. “Dick” Kirbow Sr., 78, of Kirbyville was held Saturday, May 28 at Kirbyville Memorial Funeral Home with burial in Davis Cemetery. He died Thursday, May 26, 1988 at Kirbyville Community Hospital. A native of Georgia, he lived in the Kirbyville area 60 years and was a farmer. Survivors include his wife, Lillie Beatrice Kirbow of Kirbyville; six sons, W.S. Kirbow Jr. of Marshall, Clyde Kirbow of Nederland, and Charles Edward Kirbow, Billy Harold Kirbow, James David Kirbow and Joseph Samuel Kirbow, all of Kirbyville; two daughters, Dixie West of Kirbyville and Beatrice Melton of Vidor; three brothers, W.R. Kirbow of Beaumont, and H.T. “Son” Kirbow of Kirbyville; four sisters, Theresa Fussell and Eva Phelps, both of Kirbyville, Vera Jones of San Augustine and Mollie Owens of California, 22 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Kirkpatrick, David
October 11, 1935
David Kirkpatrick, 44, resident of Kirbyville, was found dead at 10 o’clock last Saturday morning under an oak tree on the south edge of town with a charge of squirrel shot in his chest. One barrel had been discharged. J.D. Howell, justice of the peace, returned the verdict of death by gunshot, self inflicted. Kirkpatrick had left home at 8:30 o’clock Saturday morning announcing that he was going hunting. The body was discovered by Bevis Skinner, town Marshall, who was passing near, an hour and a half later. Although no notes or letters were left, members of the family indicated that poor health and lack of employment probably caused the suicide. Funeral services were held from the home with the Rev. J.F. Petty, Baptist minister, officiating. Burial was under the direction of the Stringer Funeral Home. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, with whom he lived, and two brothers, Ira Kirkpatrick, of Kirbyville and D.R. Kirkpatrick of Beaumont.

Knight, William James

James William Knight, 82, of Call died Nov. 15, 2001, at Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Trout Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. A longtime resident of Call, he was a retired pipe fitter and World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Eula Lee Knight of Call; son, Jimmy Don Knight of Chula Vista, Calif.; stepdaughter, Evelyn O’Neill of Lakeside, Calif.; brother, John M. Knight of Call; sisters, Elizabeth Rodgers of Crosby and Cleto Golden of Jasper; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Knighton, Leona Lewis
Funeral services for Mrs. Leona Lewis Knighton, 60, of Port Arthur, and a former area resident, will be at 2 p.m. today in Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Trout Creek Cemetery. She died early Saturday morning, August 12, 1972 in a Port Arthur hospital. Survivors include her husband, Robert R. JASPER – Funeral for Mabel Lewis Knighton, 73, of Jasper will be at 2 p.m. today at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial in Lewis Chapel Cemetery. She died at 10:30 p.m. Monday at Mary Dickerson Hospital after an illness. A native of Newton County, she lived in Jasper 30 years. Survivors include six daughters, Nancy Page of Woodville, Alene Chapman of Pineland, Helen Cude of Spring and Louise Menelesky, Gladys Stark and Mary Beth Behannon, all of Houston; two sons, Ragan Knighton of Alexandria, Va., and Marvin Knighton of Houston; one sister, Clara Joslin of Center; 35 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Krebs, Mabel Eloise Woods
Mabel Eloise Woods Krebs, 94, of Plano died Jan. 20, 2001, in Plano. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at E. E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Kirbyville Cemetery. A native of Kirbyville, she lived in Plano 20 years and was a retired Sabine Pass and Deweyville schoolteacher. Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Charlotte Krebs Tucker of Plano; brothers, Hamp Woods of Nederland and Seborn Woods of Shreveport; sisters, Charlotte Woods Stephens and Betty Woods Beaver, both of Fort Worth, and Sarah Woods Sanders of Kirbyville; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She died at 9 p.m. Monday, November 5, 1979 at Buna Medical Center after an illness. A native of Bivins, Texas, she lived in Kirbyville 38 years. Survivors include her husband, H.D. King of Kirbyville; two daughters, Colleen Faulkner of Kirbyville and Virginia Simmons of Call; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

KIRBYVILLE – Funeral for H.D. “Hoss” King, 82, of Kirbyville will be at 2 p.m. today at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home with burial in Davis Cemetery. He died at 5:05 p.m. Friday at Buna Medical Hospital after an illness. A native of Winona, Miss., he had lived in Kirbyville 40 years and was a retired oiler for Mobil Oil. Survivors include two daughters, Colleen Faulkner and Virginia Simmons, both of Kirbyville; two brothers, Sam King and J. Mervin King, both of Winona; three sisters, Mozell Walden of Stockridge, Ga., Catherine Bacon of Malvern, Ark., and Lerlene Martin of Memphis, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

King, Hamp C.
Funeral services for Hamp C. King, 80, of Kirbyville will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at E.E. Stringer funeral Home. Richard Trice, minister of the Kirbyville Church of Christ, will officiate. He will be assisted by the Rev. Dewey Fuller, pastor of the Kirbyville Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Kirbyville Bean Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of the Beeler Bible Class of the Methodist Church. King died about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 1965 in a Beaumont hospital after suffering second and third degree burns over most of his body. A butane stove exploded Monday morning at the Malone Lumber Co. in Merryville, La., while he was on duty as a watchman. King was a native of Newton County and had lived in Kirbyville for about 60 years. He was a member of the Kirbyville Church of Christ and of the Beeler Bible Class of the Methodist Church. Surviving are his stepmother, Mrs. Mary E. Miller of Newton; four sons, I.D. King of Shreveport, J.C. King of Beaumont, W.B. King of Texas City and R.V. King of Port Bolivar; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Hahn of Franklin, La., and Mrs. Orpha Spurlock of Pineland; one brother, D.U. King of Newton; one sister, Mrs. Delphia Lewis of Orange; two half sisters, Mrs. Lila Woods of Hemphill and Mrs. George Allbritton of Newton; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

JASPER – Estelle Weaver King, 68, of Kirbyville died at 8:40 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 1980 at Jasper Memorial Hospital after an illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at J.O. Stringer Funeral Home in Jasper with burial in Davis Cemetery. She was a lifelong resident of Kirbyville. Survivors include her husband, Andrew King of Kirbyville; four sons, Herman R. King of Kirbyville, Pete M. King of Spurger, Texas, Ben King of Jasper and William King of Vidor; three daughters, Inez Williams and Nora Victory, both of Kirbyville, and Linda Brown of Temple, Texas; two sisters, Lutrelle Hall of Newton and Virgie Davis of Lumberton; 23 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Stringer Funeral Home with burial in Zion Hill Cemetery near Jasper. A native of Milam, he had lived in Kirbyville 42 years and was a retired grocer and a World War I veteran. Survivors include his wife, Pinkie Strickland King of Kirbyville; three sons, Olen King of Dam B, R.D. King of Brazoria and Elray King of Jasper; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

He died at 3 p.m. Wednesday at his home after an illness. A native of Clark County, Miss., he had lived in Kirbyville 40 years and was a farmer. Survivors include his wife, Melba Davidson Kemp of Kirbyville; a son, Larry Kemp of Lumberton; two daughters, Sybil Richardson and Earnestine Morgan, both of Kirbyville; a sister, Pearl Swinney of Pine Hill, Ala; and seven grandchildren.

HOUSTON – Funeral for Masel Walker Kemp, 47, of Houston, a former Kirbyville resident, will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Trinity Episcopal Church under the direction of George H. Lewis Funeral Home at 2500 Sage Road. Mrs. Kemp died at 2 a.m. Sunday in a Houston hospital. A native of Kirbyville, she was a retired registered nurse. Survivors include her husband, David M. Kemp Sr.’ a son, David Kemp Jr.; a daughter, Cynthia Kemp, all of Houston; her mother, Harriet Walker of Kirbyville and a brother, Stafford Walker of Philadelphia.

Kent, Manuel Eugene Jr.
Manuel Eugene Kent Jr., 65, of Trout Creek died Dec. 9, 2000, at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, La. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Trout Creek Cemetery. A native of Baton Rouge and a former resident of Orange, he lived in the Kirbyville area 20 years, was a millwright and a Korean War U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Vicki Jo Kent of Trout Creek; son, Mark Burks of Starks, La.; daughters, Cynthia Delano of Groton, Conn., Vicki Peveto of Trout Creek and Shelly Huff of Ogen, Utah; brother, Edward Wayne Kent of Baton Rouge; sister, Ethel Marie Bernard of Alabama; stepsister, Renella Stout of Florida; and three grandchildren.

Funeral for Lola Faye Morris Key, 73, of Kirbyville was held September 5 at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. Burial was in Davis Cemetery in Beulah Springs. She died Thursday, September 3, 1987 at Avalon Place Nursing Home in Kirbyville after an illness. A native of Hemphill, she lived in Kirbyville 50 years. Survivors include her husband, Arthur Key Sr. of Kirbyville; two sons, Arthur Key Jr. of Beaumont and Tommy C. Key of Houston; two daughters, Earl Faye Sheffield and Wanda Lou Easley, both of Houston; three brothers, George Morris, Johnny Morris and Earl Gene Morris, all of Houston; four sisters, Virginia Boh of Kemah, Lucille Raines of Woodville, Lois Duhon of Orange and Athernor Neely of Kirbyville; and 10 grandchildren.

Killen, Randy
Services for Randy Killen, 36, of 710 Cedar Bayou Road were to be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Compton Faulkner Funeral Home in La Porte with the Rev. Ed Weatherly of Garth Road Baptist Church in Baytown officiating. Killen, a member of Garth Road Baptist and a welder for Houston Lighting and Power, died Friday, June 13, 1980 of injuries suffered in an auto-motorcycle accident. He is survived by his wife, Cathy Killen of Baytown; two sons, Patrick Killen and Tim Luedicke, both of Baytown; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Killen of Kirbyville; sisters, Dorothy Riley of Baytown, Edna Thames of Shreveport, La., and Laurel Byers of Buna; brothers, Milton Killen of Buna, Kent Killen of Holbrook, Ariz., Gale Killen of Pasadena, Henry Killen of Highlands, Keith Killen of Kirbyville and Ivan Killen of Buna; and grandmother, Mrs. Linnie Dennis of Petrolia. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Park in Pasadena. Arrangements were under direction of Compton Faulkner Funeral Home in LaPorte.

ROGANVILLE, Texas – Andrew B. King, 73, of Roganville died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 6, 1980 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont after an illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at J.O. Stringer Funeral Home in Jasper with burial in Davis Cemetery near Roganville. A native of St. Augustine County, he had lived most of his life in Jasper County. Survivors include four sons, Herman King of Kirbyville, Pete King of Spurger, Ben King of Jasper and William King of Vidor; three daughters, Inez Williams of Spurger, Nora Victory of Kirbyville and Linda Brown of Temple; two brothers, Daniel King of Silsbee and Elijah King of Pineland; 23 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
