Funeral Services Are Tentatively Set For Today at 3
KIRBYVILLE (Spl) – Funeral services for Wesley Kelley, 74, of the Bon Ami community are tentatively set for 3 p.m. Saturday, pending the arrival of a son from Washington state.
Rites will be held in Beulah Springs Church with the Rev. Jack Lee of Jasper and the Rev. Haskell Humphrey of Kirbyville, Baptist ministers, officiating.
Burial in the church cemetery will be directed by E.E. Stringer Funeral Home of Kirbyville.
The body will be at the home of the family until the time of services.
Kelley died at 6 a.m. Friday at his home, following a long illness. He was a member of the North Bon Ami Baptist Church and was a retired farmer.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Leah Rowena Kelley, three sons, John Wesley Kelley of Natchez, Wash., Benny Lee Kelley of Kirbyville and William Ronald Kelley of Houston; four daughters, Mrs. Fred Tucker and Mrs. Billy Johnson, both of Houston; Mrs. Allen Reid of Conroe and Mrs. Norman Pennington of Kirbyville; two brothers, Mack Kelley of Kirbyville and Alfred Kelley of Rose City; two sisters, Mrs. Fannie Moneypenny of Newton and Mrs. Emma McKeown of St. Louis, Mo., and ten grandchildren.
Kellum, Cecil Edward

JASPER – Funeral for Cecil Edward Kellum, 60, of Erin, will be at 2 p.m. today at the Erin Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Erin Cemetery under the direction of Stringer-Ward Funeral Home.
He died at 7 p.m. Friday in his home. A native of Kirbyville, he was a metal construction worker.
Survivors include his mother, Cornelia Kellum of Erin; three sons, Gary W. Kellum of Kirbyville, Butch Kellum and Pee Wee Kellum of Washington; four brothers, Travis C. Kellum, J.D. Kellum and Castel H. Kellum, all of Erin, and Thomas Kellum of Jasper; three sisters, Zuma Reynolds of Ohio, Earlee Kojak of Beaumont, and Carolyn Hickman of Erin.
Kemp, Bud
Bud Kemp, 76, of Kirbyville died Sept. 6, 2001, at his residence.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Kirbyville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home.
A native of Fort Worth, he lived in Kirbyville 43 years, owned of Kemp Trailer Sales and was a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran.
Survivors include sons, Buddy Kemp, Bart Kemp and Bret Kemp, all of Kirbyville; daughter, Susie Moody of Kirbyville; brothers, Steve Kemp and Jack Kemp, both of Fort Worth; sister, Jo Kemp Roy of Fort Worth; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Karr, Artie Lamar
Artie Lamar Karr, 73, of Kirbyville died Saturday, September 10, 1988 at St Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral will be at 4 p.m. Monday at Call Junction Baptist Church near Kirbyville with burial in Bean Cemetery under the direction of Kirbyville Memorial Funeral Home.
A lifelong resident of Kirbyville, he was a retired carpenter from Carpenter’s Local 502 in Port Arthur and was World War II Army and Air Force veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Karr of Kirbyville; sisters, Emma Lyle of Houston, Lela Pearl Bean of Louisiana and Mattie Story of Kirbyville.
Karr, Lonnie R. “Krook”

Funeral for Lonnie R. “Krook” Karr, 60, of 4610 El Paso will be at 3:30 p.m. today in the chapel of Kelley-Hixson Funeral Home with burial in forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Karr died at 3:35 a.m. Friday in John Sealy Hospital in Galveston. A native of Newton, he had lived in Beaumont for 35 years and was a member of Ironworkers Local 125.
Survivors include his wife, Hattie Pearl Karr and two daughters, Barbara Honsberger and Kay Karr, all of Beaumont; a sister, Gladys Rose of Kirbyville; two brothers, J.P. Karr of Groves, and Jim Karr of Kirbyville; and three grandchildren.
Karr, Pine Woodrow
Funeral for Pine Woodrow Karr of Waukomis, Oklahoma, was held Wednesday, December 5, at Brown Funeral Home in Enid, Oklahoma.
He died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, December 1, 1979 in Oklahoma.
A native of Kirbyville, he had lived most of his life here.
Survivors include a wife, Velma Karr; one daughter, JoAnn Hromas of Waukomis, Oklahoma; two sons, John Karr of Oklahoma City and Jack Karr of Waukomis, Oklahoma; two brothers, Von Karr and Lamar Karr, of Kirbyville; six sisters, Mattie Story of Kirbyville, Lucy Lyles of Kirbyville, Stella Jones of Kirbyville, Lela Pearl Bean of Call, Dora Smith of Vidor and Emma Lyles of Houston.
Karr, Von Leonard
Von Leonard Karr, 82, of Kirbyville died Monday at Avalon Place.
A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Bean Cemetery in Kirbyville under the direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville.
A lifelong resident of Kirbyville, he was a retired truck driver and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include a son, Fred Karr of Houston; three daughters, Betty Ballard and Vergie Maxey, both of Houston, and Lillie Shumate of Cypress; a brother, Lamar Kar; and a sister, Mattie Story, both of Kirbyville; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Kees, Florence
Florence Kees, 64, died Friday, March 1, 1974 at her residence in Jasper.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Jasper under the direction of J.O. Stringer Funeral Home.
She is survived by one son, Arthur Kees of League City; one brother, A.V. Wright Jr., of Kirbyville; two sisters, Geraldine Wright of Beaumont and Mrs. G.W. Hayef of Dallas.

KIRBYVILLE – Funeral for Benny Lee Kelley, 39, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Davis Cemetery.
Kelley was found dead at his residence Wednesday from a gunshot wound to the head. Justice of the Peace J.B. Sanders ruled the wound self-inflicted.
Kelley was a lifelong Kirbyville resident and a construction worker.
Surviving are his mother, Rowena Kelley of Kirbyville; two brothers, James Kelley of Natchez, Wash., and Ronald Kelley of Porter, and four sisters, Verda Reid of Splendora, Eloise Pennington of Call, Ruth Johnson of Kirbyville and Elaine Tucker of Houston.

KIRBYVILLE – Funeral for Byeller Siau Kelley, 72, of Newton will be at 4 p.m. today at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home with burial in Davis Cemetery in Jasper County.
She was found dead Thursday at her home in Newton.
She was a lifelong resident of Newton and Jasper Counties.
Survivors include two brothers, R.H. Siau of Lufkin and Jim Siau of Newton; and three sisters, Irene Love and Nettie Denmon, both of Newton and Mertice Mock of Spurger.
Kelley, Charlie
Funeral services for Charlie Kelley, 53, of Kirbyville will be at 2 p.m. today in the Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Davis Cemetery.
Kelley Died Wednesday, March 14, 1973 in a local hospital. He was a fire control supervisor for the Texas Forest Service.
Among survivors are his wife, Mrs. Cathleen Hall Kelley; two sons, Robert M. Kelley, Beaumont and Joseph A. Kelley, Orange; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins Kelley, Jasper; and a sister, Mrs. Otha Morgan, Jasper.
Kelly, Dorsey
Dorsey Kelly, 86, of Buna died Dec. 18, 2000, at Avalon Nursing Home in Kirbyville.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Assembly of God Church in Buna with burial at Antioch Cemetery under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee.
A native of Browndell, he lived in Buna most of his life and was a retired car dealer.
Survivors include sons, George Kelly and Weldon Kelly, both of Buna; daughters, Billie M. Hutchinson and Lilly Faye Hooks, both of Buna; brother, Mallie Kelly Jr. of Buna; sister, Onieda Dubose of Gary; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for James Boss Kelley Jr., 65, of Jasper will be held at 2 p.m. today in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Bean Cemetery.
Kelley died at 1 a.m. Sunday, September 2, 1973 in a Beaumont hospital. He was a lifelong resident of the area.

Kelley, John Columbus
Funeral arrangements for John Columbus Kelley, 83, of Kirbyville, are pending and will be announced by Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home.
He died Tuesday afternoon, March 28, 1972 at his residence. A native of Old Laurel in Newton County, he had lived in Kirbyville 34 years, and was a deacon in the Calvary Baptist Church.
Among survivors are his wife, Mrs. Ruby Coker Kelley; five sons, Marion L. Kelley, Houston, Sgt. Lonnie I. Kelley, Okinawa, the Rev. Elzy Kelley and Alton Kelley, both of Kirbyville and Claude Kelley, Fort Worth; two daughters, Mrs. Lorene Banks, Baytown, and Mrs. Clyde Glenn, Beaumont.
Kelley, Rev. J.D.
Rev. J.D. Kelley, 64, of Dam B, died at 6:45 p.m. December 11, 1973 at the home of his son, Charles E. Kelley. He was a native of Newton and had lived at Dam B for the past two years. He was pastor of the Kirbyville Missionary Baptist Church. He also worked for the Martindale Lumber Co.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Kirbyville Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Travis Kellum, pastor, officiating, assisted by Rev. Jack Lee of Jasper. Burial will be in the Zion Cemetery under the direction of Farmer Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be B.T. Lindsey, Lamar Barlow, Tom Mitchell, Babe Fairchild, Lonnie Simmons and J.T. Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Lum Pullum and Claude Mitchell.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Sadie Kelley of Dam B; two sons, Charles and Billy Kelley, both of Silsbee; two brothers, Elmer Kelley of Jasper and Wiley B. Kelley of Silsbee; a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Walker of Jacksonville Florida; and five grandchildren, Rocky, Bobby and Jan Kelley of Silsbee, and Rory Glenn and Geana Kelley of Jasper.
Kelley, Lee
Funeral arrangements are pending for Lee Kelley, 27, of Kirbyville, who died about noon Sunday in a Cheyenne, Wyo., hospital.
Kelley had gone to Wyoming to work and had been there only a few days. Prior to his death, he had spent two weeks in Hotel Dieu Hospital in Beaumont.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Sue Wright Kelley; three sons, Jerry, Tommy and Truett Kelley, and his parents, Mr. And Mrs. John C. Kelley all of Kirbyville; six brothers the Rev. Elzie Kelley of Floriene, La., Lonnie Kelley, stationed in the Philippines with the Army, Claude Kelley of Fort Worth, Alton Kelley of Kirbyville and J.C. and Marion Kelley, both of Houston, and two sisters, Mrs. Lorene Banks of Baytown and Mrs. Clyde Glenn of Beaumont.
Kelley, Maudie A.
Funeral services for Miss Maudie A. Kelley, 65, of Daisetta, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Daisetta. Burial will be in the Guedry Cemetery under the direction of Allison Funeral Service.
Miss Kelley died Thursday morning, April 20, 1972 in a Houston nursing home.
She was a native of Old Laurel and had been a resident of Daisetta for 15 years.
Surviving are one brother, Louis A. Kelley, Liberty; two sisters, Mrs. Della Mae Hawthorne and Mrs. Opel Riggs, both of Pasadena.

KIRBYVILLE – Robert L. Kelley Sr., 85, of Beulah Springs Community died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont after an illness.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home with burial in Davis Cemetery in Beulah Springs.
A lifelong resident of Beulah Springs, he was a retired equipment operator for the county and a World War I veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Florence Reid Kelley of Beulah Springs; one daughter, Dolores Oliver of Carriere, Miss.; three sons, Robert L. Kelley Jr. of Texas City and Leighton Kelley and Guinn Kelley, both of Rusk; one sister, Mary Morgan of Erin; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Rowena Sims Kelley, 89, of Kirbyville died Monday, March 28, 1988 at Northeast Medical Center in Humble.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville.
A native of Town Bluff, she lived in the Kirbyville area most of her life.
Survivors include two sons, James Wesley Kelley of Naches, Wash., and William Ronald Kelley of Porter; four daughters, Verda Mae Reid of Splendora, Eloise Pennington of Kirbyville, and Ruth Johnson and Elaine Caraway, both of Houston; a sister, Sinie Rogers of Mississippi; 15 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
