Bates, Mollie Charleton
Funeral services for Mollie Charlton Bates, 74, was at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Rev. Archie Boyett and Rev. J.W.C. Drake of Kirbyville officiated. Interment was in Bean Cemetery under the direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Mrs. Bates died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, {February 6, 1975} in Mary Dickerson Hospital in Jasper. She was born in Madison County and lived here for 35 years. Pallbearers were Pray Glover, Arthur Guy, Grover Couch, Bob Collier, J.C. Coleman and David McCoy. Survivors include three sons, Alton and Donald Hogan, both of Kirbyville, and Leslie Hogan of Jasper; two daughters, Ruth Abbott of Call and Viola Guy of Kirbyville; three brothers, Albert Lee, Dan, and Clifford Charlton, all of Kirbyville; three sisters, Mattie Chernick of Prescott, Ariz., Myrtle King of Anaheim, California, and Thelma Neely of Beaumont; 21 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Bean, Azar
Azar A. Bean, 80, of Kirbyville died Friday, January 3, 1986 at his home after an illness. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the First United Methodist Church in Kirbyville with burial in Kirbyville with burial in Kirbyville Cemetery under the direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. A native and lifelong resident of Kirbyville, he was a retired owner and operator of a sawmill. Survivors include his wife, Eloise Bean; a son, Charles Bean; a daughter, Carolyn Randolph; a brother, L. Ornan Bean; three sisters, Ina Morgan, Verna Jordan and Melda Tucker, all of Kirbyville.

Bean, Birgie Behannon
Funeral services for Mrs. Birgie Behannon Bean, 87, of Kirbyville, will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Kirbyville Church of Christ. A.A. Berryman, minister of the church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Magnolia springs Cemetery, directed by the Causey-Stringer Funeral Home. Grandsons will be pallbearers. Mrs. Bean, member of a widely known Southeast Texas family, died of a sudden illness about 7:45 a.m. Monday, November 11, 1967, in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Melda Bean Tucker, with whom she made her home. She was a life-long resident of the Kirbyville area, was a member of the Kirbyville Church of Christ and was the widow of Lloyd Bean. Survivors are two other daughters, Mrs. Ina Morgan and Mrs. Verna Jordan, both of Kirbyville; three sons, Azar, Marcus and Ornan Bean, all of Kirbyville; four sisters, Mrs. Frank Smith and Mrs. Albert Turner both of Jasper; Mrs. Will Pipkins of Leakesville, Mo.; and Mrs. Albert Payne of Roganville; 18 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

KIRBYVILLE – Funeral for Clara Bean, 81, is pending at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Mrs. Bean died at 2:15 p.m. Thursday at her daughter’s home in Trout Creek Community of an illness. She was a native of Newton County and lived most of her life in the Trout Creek Community. Survivors include four sons, Robert Bean of Deweyville, Ollie and Bill Bean, both of Trout Creek, and Jack Bean of the U.S. Air Force stationed in Georgia; two daughters, Sarah Hudson of Jacksonville, Fla., and Clara Fay Mitchell of Trout Creek; a brother, E.J. Sheppard of Buna; and four sisters, Thelma Thompson, Dorothy Williams and Rosie Williams, all of Buna, and Mattie Stroud of Louisiana; and 12 grandchildren.

Bean, George Thomas
Last rites for George Thomas Bean, 54, of Trout Creek community near Kirbyville, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May, ..1967 in Trout Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Lamar Duncan, Baptist minister of Logansport, La. officiating. E.E. Stringer Funeral Home of Kirbyville directed burial in the church cemetery. Aubrey Wagner, Virgil Whittington, Earl Herrin, H.L. Fancher, Matt Bean, and Olan Pipes were pallbearers. Mr. Bean was a construction worker and had lived in Trout Creek community for many years. He died Saturday in a Newton hospital. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Wilma Jeannett Bean; four daughters, Sharon Kay, Donna Ruth, Barbara Carlene and Lana Lavelle Bean, and a brother, Frank Bean, all of Trout Creek community; two sisters, Mrs. A.J. Dougherty of Beaumont and Mrs. Mattie Jarrell of Call.

Bean, Jesse Mercer

Funeral for Jesse Mercer Bean, 79, of the Beaumont Retirement Hotel will be at 2 p.m. today at Causey’s Funeral Chapel, Kirbyville, with burial at Magnolia Springs Cemetery. He died at 12:15 a.m. Sunday at Doctors Hospital of Silsbee after a brief illness. He was a native of Jasper County and had lived in Beaumont for 17 years. He was a retired truck driver and a veteran of World War I. Survivors include two sisters, Willa Finegold of Warren and Leona Swearingen of Kirbyville; two brothers, Ray Bean of Kirbyville and Maxie Bean of Silsbee.

Funeral services for Johnny Bean, 61, of Call will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in St. Paul's AME Church. Burial will be in Call Cemetery under direction of Coleman Mortuary of Kirbyville. Bean died Sunday, March 5, 1972 at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Mildred Bean, of Call; two daughters, Miss Johnnie Bean, of Call, and Mrs. Barbara Smith, Houston; and two sons, Willie and Robert Bean, both of Call.

She died at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Beaumont Medical and Surgical Hospital. A native of Magnolia Springs, she had lived in the Kirbyville-Buna area for most of her life. She was a retired teacher in the Newton and Kirbyville School Districts. Survivors include two daughters, LaVerne Colletti of Beaumont and Diana Jacobs of Buna; a sister, Verda Campbell of Newton; and five grandchildren.

HOUSTON – Funeral for Loyce M. Bean, 74, former Kirbyville resident, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Settegast_Kopf Funeral Home with burial at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. He died at 2 a.m. Wednesday in a Houston hospital. He was a native of Kirbyville and lived in Houston most of his life. He was a retired Texaco accountant. Survivors include one brother, Oscar J. Bean, mayor of Kirbyville.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ola Jebhart Bean, 71, of Kirbyville will be at 4 p.m. today in the Kirbyville Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Bleakwood Cemetery under direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Mrs. Bean died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 1973 at her residence. She was a native of Kirbyville and a retired nurse. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Burks, Kirbyville, and Mrs. Laura Turner, Vidor; two sons, Robert and Neil Bean, both of Huntsville; and one sister, Mrs. Eliza Ferguson, Kirbyville.

Robert F. "Pinto" Bean Jr., 57, of Beaumont died Nov. 10, 2000 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Houston. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Trout Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home. A native of Trout Creek community, he lived in Beaumont and was a lounge manager and Vietnam War U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Grace Bean of Beaumont; son, Barry Behannon of Port Neches; mother, Epsie Bean of Kirbyville; brother, Tommy Bean of Vidor; sister, Juanita Rudich of Merryville, La.; and four grandchildren.

KIRBYVILLE – Funeral for Vernon Bean, 67, will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home with burial in Kirbyville Cemetery. He died about 8 p.m. Tuesday at the residence of his brother, Mayor Oscar J. Bean of Kirbyville, after an illness. A native of Magnolia Springs, he was a lifelong area resident. Survivors include two daughters, LaVerne Colletti of Beaumont and Diana Jacobs of Buna; two brothers, L.M. Bean of Houston and Oscar Bean of Kirbyville; and three sisters, Mrs. K.O. Stowell of Houston, Mrs. V.H. Newton of Bowie and Mrs. Fred Orem of Salinas, Calif.

Funeral services for Von V. Bean, 92, of Kirbyville, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today in the chapel of Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery. He died at 9 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 1972 in Mixon Memorial Hospital in Kirbyville. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Laura Horn Bean; two sons, Hursel Bean, Orange and Cleburne Bean, Beaumont; one sister, Mrs. Eliza Cooper, Kirbyville.

Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial in Zion Hill Cemetery near Jasper. A native and longtime resident of Brookeland, she lived in Kirbyville 18 years. Survivors include a son, Clarence Townsend of Lake Charles, La.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Beard, Robert Reed
Robert Reed Beard, 80, of Kirbyville died Monday, December 12, 1986 at Max Mixson Memorial Clinic. Funeral will be at 3 p.m. today at Farmer Funeral Home in Silsbee with burial in Village Mills Cemetery. A native of Heights, Texas, he lived in Lumberton before moving to Kirbyville 20 years ago, was a retired gauger from Arco and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Clara Beard of Kirbyville; a stepson, Clarence Townsend of Hayes, La.; two brothers, Casey Beard of Saratoga and Archie Beard of Port Arthur; two sisters, Lula Roden of Lumberton and Gladys Hooks of Beaumont; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A native of Kirbyville, she lived in Beauxart Garden 58 years. Survivors include daughters, Clytie House of Beaumont and Melba Dowden of Beauxart Garden; son, Clyde Willard Bearden of Port Acres; 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five great great-grandchildren.

Memorial services for Bobby W. Beathard, 53, of Houston will be held Saturday, June 4 at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. He died May 28, 1988 at Hermann Hospital in Houston. A native of Kirbyville, he lived in Houston several years and was an antique and furniture dealer. Survivors include a daughter, Terri Beathard of The Woodlands; a son, Wayne Beathard; his father, Earl Beathard, both of Kirbyville; three sisters, Billie K. Ener of Beaumont, Mary Sue Fuller of Kemah and Becky West of Monroe, La., two brothers, Willie E. Beathard of Michigan and Blue Beathard of Houston; and a grandchild.

Dr. Edmund Joseph Beck, 79, of Beaumont died Nov. 21, 2000, at Spring Creek Manor. A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of Broussard's Mortuary in Beaumont. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the mortuary. A native of Houston, he lived in Beaumont 45 years and was a retired pediatrician. Survivors include his daughter, Eleanor Elizabeth Roberts of Beaumont; sons, Edmund Link Beck of El Paso, David James Beck of Portland, Ore., Christopher Michael Beck of Beaumont, Thomas Basil Beck of San Antonio and Paul Randolph Beck of Jacksonville, Fla.; and eight grandchildren. Stringer Funeral Home. Behannon died Monday morning in a Newton nursing home. A native of Magnolia Springs, he was a farmer. Survivors include his wife, Ester Sheffield Behannon; two sons, H.R. and F.W. Behannon, both of Jasper; three daughters, Elaine Falkner and Elvie Primrose, both of Roganville, and Dorothy Brown of Jasper.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bootie Singletary Bennett, 74, of Kirbyville, will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Kirbyville City Cemetery under direction of Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. She died Monday, March 20, 1972 in a Kirbyville hospital. She was a native of Kirbyville and a daughter of a pioneer resident of Kirbyville, Giles Singletary. Among survivors are her husband, Joel K. Bennett; two daughters, Mrs. J.C. Pickens, Austin, and Mrs. R.H. Young, Houston; and one brother, Tom Singletary, Silsbee.

Stringer Funeral Home. He died at 8 p.m. Saturday in Buna Medical Center after an illness. A native of Geffney, S.C., he had lived 30 years in Kirbyville. He was a retired hardware salesman. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lee Pickens of Boston, and Helen young of Houston; a sister, Rachel Matthews of Kirbyville, and four grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Willie Berwick, 77, of Buna were held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Burial was in Antioch Cemetery. Pallbearers were Johnny Palmer, Durard L. Marks, Burnett Rich, Otis Gilchriest, Dowlin Gilchriest and Bill Denman. Berwick died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 1970 in the Buna Medical Hospital. Surviving are his wife; one son, Homer Berwick of Buna; one stepson, James Fuqua of Buna; four daughters, Mrs. Lucille Chase, Mrs. Audrey Reid, Mrs. Mildred Fowler and Mrs. Sarah Graham, all of Buna; 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

KIRBYVILLE – L.M. “Mac” Bevil, 85, of Kirbyville died at 5 p.m. today, {September 28, 1980} at Mixson Memorial Hospital in Kirbyville after an illness. Funeral services are pending at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. A native of Woodville, he had lived most of his life in Kirbyville and Kingsville. He was a retired conductor for Missouri Pacific Railroad Co. and was a Navy veteran of World War I. Survivors include a daughter, Katherine Hall of Kirbyville; brother, Andy Bevil of Dayton; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
