KIRBYVILLE – Thurston “Top” Mansfield, 63, of Kirbyville died at 9 a.m. Monday at Jasper Memorial Hospital after an illness. Funeral arrangements are pending at Memorial Funeral Home in Vidor. A native of Vidor, he had lived in Kirbyville 15 years and was retired from Pipefitters Local 195 and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Gail Mansfield of Kirbyville; four sons, Bruce Mansfield of Vidor and Rodney Mansfield of Tulsa, Okla., and Eddie G. Maxwell of Buna and Jerry Lynn Maxwell of Kirbyville; two daughters, Beverly Ann Woodside of Vidor and Myra Sue Mansfield of Tulsa, Okla.; brother, Arnold Mansfield of Vidor; two sisters Agnes Vincent and Lorraine Brodnax, both of Vidor.

Manuel, Alphen O.
Funeral services for Alphen O. Manuel, 76, were held at 3 p.m. Monday in the Kirbyville Central Baptist Church. The Rev. Percy Bailey, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the Kirbyville City Cemetery with Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were members of Barracks 1471 of World War I veterans and honorary pallbearers were other veterans and members of the American Legion. He died about 12:30 p.m. Sunday, November 22, 1970 in the Buna Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Chatigner, La. And had lived in Kirbyville for 41 years. He was a retired woodsman and cattleman. He was a veteran of World War I, a member of the Catholic Church, the American Legion Post and WWI Barracks. Survivors are one son, Clarence Manuel of Kirbyville; one sister, Mrs. Andrew Janise of Roanoke, La.; two brothers, Oscar and Elyess Manuel, both of Eunice, La.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Manuel, Clarence Wilson
Clarence Wilson Manuel, 77, of Kirbyville died Sept. 19, 2001, at Avalon Place Nursing Home in Kirbyville. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Central Baptist Church in Kirbyville with burial at Kirbyville Cemetery under the direction of E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. A native of Kinder, La., he lived in Kirbyville many years, was a retired DuPont operator and was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Survivors include his wife, Ruby Manuel of Kirbyville; sons, Alfred "Al’’ Manuel of Mont Belvieu and Ronald "Ron’’ Manuel of Kirbyville; sisters, Isabella LaFluer of Lake Charles, La., and Tan Nugent of Liberty; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Bobby Lynn Marshall, 26, of Kirbyville died Wednesday, September 21, 1988 in Kirbyville. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Trout Creek Cemetery in Kirbyville under the direction of Kirbyville Memorial Funeral Home. A native of Newton, he lived in the Kirbyville area most of his life. Survivors include sons, Bobby Joe Marshall and Terry Lynn Marshall, both of Dam B; parents, George and Ruth Marshall of Call; brothers, George Marshall and Dennis Marshall, both of Kirbyville, Billy Bob Marshall and Greg Marshall, both of Jasper, Wayne Marshall of Silsbee, Joey Marshall of Call and John Marshall of Orange; and sisters, Nikki Nation of Kirbyville, Shirley Wheeler of DeRidder, La., Retha Anderson of Orange, Donna Maddox of Pass Christian, miss., Ida Burnett of Newton, Brenda Worsham of LaGrange and Tina Gilbert of Buna.

Marshall, Drew Davis
KIRBYVILLE – Funeral for Drew Davis Marshall, 69, of Kirbyville will be at 10 a.m. today at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home of Kirbyville with burial in Bleakwood Cemetery. He died at 3:25 p.m. Wednesday at Longview Regional Hospital after an illness. A native of San Augustine County, he had lived in Kirbyville 27 years and was a truck driver. Survivors include his wife, Erma Jones Marshall of Kirbyville; four daughters, Erma Woods of Onalaska, Texas, Gloria Turner of Waco, Johnnie Muckleroy of Palestine, Texas, and Frankie Herrin of Longview; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

A lifelong resident of Trout Creek, he was retired owner of Marshall’s Grocery, Hoss’s Used Cars and Marshall’s Auto Salvage. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Marshall of Trout Creek; sons, Lynn Marshall of Bartlett, Kevin Marshall of Angleton, Dennis Mark Marshall and Harold Jones, both of Kirbyville, Dickie Jones of Call, James "Hipper’’ Odom and James Marshall Jr., both of Trout Creek, and Bruce Bennefield of Magnolia Springs; daughters, Lora Ann Flores of Rockdale, Faye Whitman, Tonya Shields and Kathy Lane, all of Trout Creek, Tana Morgan of Vidor, Jamie Davis of Spurger, Julie Leavings of Kirbyville and Lisa Simmons of Newton; sister, Dixie Nault of Newton; 32 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

KIRBYVILLE – Funeral for Jannett Wayne Marshall, 52, of Bleakwood will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Watson Chapel Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery under the direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. He died at 2 a.m. Monday, September 3, 1979 at Newton County Hospital. A native of Bleakwood, he was a construction welder and was a veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Louise Krenek Marshall of Bleakwood; a son, Stanley Wayne Marshall of Vidor; four daughters, Wanda Sjerven of Lumberton, Donna Adams of London, England, Janet Pitts of Dallas and Lisa Marshall of Bleakwood; a brother, T.C. Marshall of Effingham, Ill.; two sisters, Reba Dubose of Bleakwood and Lorene Ferguson of New Caney, La.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services for John Daniel Marshall, 78, of Kirbyville, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Lewis Chapel Cemetery on FM 363 with Masonic graveside rites. Marshall died Tuesday, September 5, 1972 in a Jasper hospital. He was a San Augustine County native, and was a retired custodian of the Kirbyville Schools. Among survivors are a stepson, Emmett Horton, Houston, and two sisters, Mrs. Lula Achord and Mrs. Etha Ross, Kirbyville.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Monday at the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. Mrs. Marshall died at Jasper Convalescent Center Sunday, January 6, 2002. A native and lifelong resident of Jasper. She owned and operated Babells Beauty Salon for many years in Jasper. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Jasper. In addition to her family she loved sewing and flower gardening. Survivors include her husband of fifty-six years Gilbert Marshall of Jasper, son; Ron Marshall of Jasper, daughter; Margie Allen of Silsbee, brother; Kirby Graham of Burkeville, and one grandchild, Cody Crabtree. Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.

Stringer Funeral Home. She died at 3 a.m. Thursday in Baptist Hospital in Beaumont after a brief illness. A native of Magnolia Springs, she had lived in Trout Creek 25 years. She owned and operated Hoss’ Place liquor store with her husband. Survivors include her husband, James L. Marshall; two sons, Richard and Harold Jones; three stepsons, Kevin, Lynn and Dennis Marshall; two daughters, Kathy Lynn Smith of Newton and Mona Lisa Jones of Trout Creek; five stepdaughters, Tana, Jamie and Julie Marshall, all of Trout Creek, Faye Whitman of Kirbyville and Ann Davis of Davilla; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.L. Whitehead of Trout Creek; one sister, Pansy Whitehead and one brother, Jimmy Daniels, both of Buna.

Manchac died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 1974 in Buna Medical Center. Survivors include his wife, Ruth Nell Manchac of Kirbyville; eight sons, L.C. and Jack Manchac, both of Call, Charlie Manchac of Hollywood, Fla., Frank Manchac of Orange, James Manchac of Vidor, L.W.
