KIRBYVILLE – Funeral for Dora Haldeman Person, 90, of Beaumont will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home with burial in Kirbyville Cemetery. She died Sunday at 2 p.m. in Baptist Hospital after an illness. A native of Yorktown, she had lived in Beaumont five years. Survivors include her daughter, Grace Bird of San Jose, Calif., two sons, Clinton Person of Kirbyville and Don E. Person of San Antonio; her sister Serina Whitehead of Port Arthur; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pearson, Mark Kevin
Funeral for Mark Kevin Pearson, 21, of Kirbyville will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with burial in Kirbyville Cemetery under the direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. He died Saturday, October 31,1987 in an automobile accident near Jasper. A native of Kirbyville he was a mechanic for Pearson’s Automotive Service. Survivors include his parents, Billie and James Pearson of Kirbyville; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. T.A. Pearson of Call and Louise Joseph Owens of Kirbyville; a sister, Susan Voss of Beaumont; and three brothers, Gary Pearson, Greg Pearson and Todd Pearson, all of Kirbyville.

Pearson, Myrtie
Funeral for Myrtie Pearson, 81, of Call will be at 2 p.m. today at Central Baptist Church in Kirbyville with burial in Magnolia Springs Cemetery under the direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. She died Thursday, January 28, 1988 at Kirbyville Community Hospital after an illness. A native of Bancroft, La., she lived in the Call area 64 years, was a retired bookkeeper and owned and operated a poultry farm. Survivors include her husband, Thomas A. Pearson Sr. of Call; two sons, James F. Pearson and Thomas A. Pearson Jr., both of Kirbyville; four daughters, Jacqueline McKennzie and Myrtie Ann Pearson, both of Call, Evelyn Sevar of Magnolia Springs and Martha Lackey of Kirbyville; three sisters, Mae Cooper and Martha Vincent, both of DeRidder, La., and Della Youngblood of Bancroft; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Perkins, George Elbert
George Elbert Perkins, 89, of Jasper died Friday, July 14, 1996 at St Elizabeth Hospital. Funeral was held Sunday, July 16 at First Baptist Church in Jasper with burial at Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Forest Oaks Funeral Home in Jasper. A native of Beech Grove, he was a lifelong resident of Jasper and was the retired manager of Morgan and Lindsey Variety Store in Jasper. Survivors include his wife, Evazell Perkins of Jasper; sons, George E. “Buddy” Perkins Jr. of New Iberia, Louisiana and Jim Perkins of Conroe; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Perry, Grant
A Kirbyville man was found dead on a deer hunt about 3 miles north of Kirbyville in the Zerath Community. Grant Perry, 69, was found dead about 2 p.m. Friday, November 19, 1971 by companions with whom he had been hunting. The men were on deer stands and Perry was supposed to run the dogs. When the dogs failed to pass by their stands, following a wait of some time, the men searched for Perry and found him dead. An inquest was held at the scene by the Justice of the Peace J.B. "Kuhn" Sanders, Deputy Sheriff Carlton Dougharty and Dr. John T. Moore. A verdict was returned stating that death was due to natural causes. Funeral services for Mr. Perry were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack Tucker and the Rev. Vernon Powell, Baptist ministers, officiated. Burial was in the Zion Hill Cemetery. Perry was born in Roganville and was a life-long resident of the Kirbyville area. Funeral arrangements are pending and will be announced by Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Alvie Perry; two sisters, Mrs. Opal Powell and Mrs. Celia Wood, both of Kirbyville.

Perry, Vera
Funeral services for Vera Perry, 76, of Bleakwood were held Monday at Watson Chapel Methodist Church under the direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. She died Sunday, November 25, 1984 at her home. A native of Leesville, La., Mrs. Perry lived in Bleakwood 42 years. Survivors include tow sons, Johnnie Perry of Newton and Buford Perry of Bleakwood; five daughters, Beatrice Dickerson, Merlene Odom and Clara Ferguson, all of Bleakwood, Octavine Wise of Menard, TX., and Wanda Brooks of Dallas; two brothers, Sam Shaw of Colmesneil and Garland Shaw of Evans, La.; 28 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.

Perry, Wilma Ruth
Wilma Ruth Perry, 65, of Newton died Monday, May 6, 1996 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Smith Funeral Home in Newton with burial at Trout Creek Cemetery in Call. A native of Doucette, she lived in Newton 40 years. Survivors include her husband, Johnnie E. Perry of Newton; son, John S. Perry of Newton; daughter, Glenda Sue Whitaker of Newton; sister, Marguerite Smith of Newton; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Phelps, Benjamin Axur
Funeral services for Benjamin Axur Phelps, 87, of Kirbyville, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. The Rev. Jack Lee, Missionary Baptist minister of Jasper, will officiate. Burial will be in the Redland Cemetery between Bronson and San Augustine. Nephews will serve as pallbearers. He died about 11 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 1972 in the Buna Medical Center after a long illness. A native of Newton County, he lived in San Augustine a number of years and in Kirbyville for the past 30 years. He was a member of the Beulah Springs Missionary Baptist Church and a retired farmer. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Forse Phelps; two sons, Arnold Phelps of Kirbyville and Wayman Phelps of Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters, Mrs. Elora Burgay of Kirbyville and Mrs. Dera Burns of Albuquerque; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

KIRBYVILLE (Spl) – Funeral arrangements for Mrs. Evie Singleton Phelps, 71, of Kirbyville are pending and will be announced by Causey's E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Mrs. Phelps died about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Mixson Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A native of Buna, she had lived in the Kirbyville area many years and was a member of the Bon Ami Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Thelma Ford, Mrs. Athela Sweat and Mrs. Madie Windham, All of Kirbyville, and two brothers, Jack Singleton of Nederland and David Singleton of Kirbyville.

Mrs. Laura Ethel Phelps, 81, of Kirbyville died at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, September 30, 1973 in a Buna hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Red Land Cemetery in San Augustine County. A native of San Augustine County She had lived in Kirbyville 32 years. Survivors include two sons, Arnold Phelps, Kirbyville and Wayman Phelps, Albuquerque, N.M.; two daughters, Mrs. Dera Burns, Albuquerque, and Mrs. Elora Burgay, Kirbyville; five brothers, Bulla Forse, San Augustine, Trewitt and Phillip Forse, both of Jasper, and Inlow Forse, Beaumont; and five sisters, Mrs. Bella Phelps and Mrs. Hattie Kellar, both of Jasper, Mrs. Maudie Davis, Vidor, and Mrs. Mamie Isenblitter and Mrs. Ava Ponder, both of San Augustine.

Funeral for Lillie H. Phillips, 90, of Roganville will be at 1 p.m. today at Roganville Baptist Church with burial in Kirbyville Cemetery under the direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville. She died Tuesday, March 8, 1988 at her home. A native of Raywood, she lived in Kirbyville most of her life before moving to Roganville five years ago. Survivors include a son, R.C. Phillips of Kirbyville; two daughters, Lorena Jackson of Call and Louise Mathis of Roganville; a sister, Laura Bomart of Richmond, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She died at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Buna Medical Center after a long illness. A native of Hardin County, she had lived in Kirbyville 30 years.

Velma Faye Phillips, 83, of Kirbyville died Friday, January 6, 1995 at Silsbee Doctors Hospital. Funeral was held Tuesday, January 10 at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Kirbyville Cemetery. A native of Merryville, Louisiana, she lived in Kirbyville 54 years. Survivors include sons, S.J. Phillips of Vidor, Max Phillips of Warren, Roy Phillips of Kirbyville and Lawrence “Skipper” Phillips of Lumberton; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

Bobby G. Pierce, 58, of 6695 Woodridge died Sunday, January 4, 1987 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A native of Bonham, he lived in the Beaumont area 35 years, was owner of Coastal Forest Products and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Survivors include his wife, Betty M. Stringer Funeral Home of Kirbyville. He died Sunday, January 5, 1986 at Memorial City Medical Center in Houston after an illness. A native of Redwater, he lived most of his life in Kirbyville before moving to Baytown 10 years ago, was manager of Dunn Heavy Equipment Rental Co. and was a National Air Guard veteran. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Bess Pipes; two sons, Melvin Pipes and Kevin Pipes, all of Baytown; father, Olen Pipes of the Trout Creek Community; two sisters, Doris Wiley of the Trout Creek Community and Maralea Hill of Bridge City; and four brothers, Sonny Pipes of Nederland, Harvey Pipes of the Trout Creek Community, James pipes of Baytown and Tommy Pipes of Deweyville.

A native of Gladewater, she lived in the Trout Creek Community 35 years. Survivors include her husband, Olen Pipes of Trout Creek; five sons, Price Pipes of Nederland, Harvey Pipes of Call, James Pipes and Billy Pipes, both of Mont Belview, and Tommy Pipes of Deweyville; two daughters, Doris Nell Wiley of Call and Maralea Hill of Bridge City; two brothers, Clyde Lynch and James E. Lynch; and two sisters, Frances Huff and Oneta Powell, all of Call; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Ruby Plunk, 79, of Kirbyville died Saturday, August 26, 1995 at Silsbee Doctors Hospital. Funeral will be at 4 p.m. today at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Kirbyville Cemetery. A native of Magnolia Springs, she had lived most of her life in the Kirbyville area and was a retired schoolteacher with Kirbyville Independent School District. Survivors include her sons, Richard Lynn Plunk of New Boston and Larry E. Plunk of Magnolia Springs; brother, Thomas Lawrence Smith of Jasper; sister, Grace Hensley of Humble; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Hardin Baylor University’s Alumni Association, Alzheimer’s Association or Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital in Houston
