Marie Prewitt, 65, of Bleakwood died Jan. 3, 2001, at Jasper Memorial Hospital.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at E. E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Trout Creek Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
A native and longtime resident of Lake Charles, La., she lived Bleakwood nine years and was a retired nurse.

Price, Fannie M.
Fannie M. Price, 81, of Port Neches died Sept. 29 at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches with burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home in Port Neches.
A native of Magnolia Springs, she had been a resident of Port Neches 65 years.
Survivors include a son, Bennett C. Price of sour Lake; daughter, Martha Alice Baxter of Warren; sister, Lula Wilson of Jasper; three Grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Ruben Prine
Funeral services for Ruben Prine, 63, of Kirbyville will be held at 2 p.m. today in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Bean Cemetery.
He died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, 1973.
A native of Hardin County, he had lived here 15 years.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Lee Prine, Hodges, La. and Marvin Ray Prine, Jonesboro, La.; a daughter, Mrs. Bessie Guttford, Stillwater, Okla.; two brothers, C.J. Prine, Evadale, and Bennie Garsee, Port Arthur; and two sisters, Mrs. Hazel Hair and Mrs. Lorene Luckey, both of Silsbee.
Nell Gee Pryor

Nell Gee Pryor, 88, of Kirbyville, Texas died Thursday, Feb. 21, at her residence. Nell Gee Pryor was born in Call, Texas on December 6, 1913, the fifth child of John Cleveland Gee and Mollie Williams Gee. A 1931 graduate of Kirbyville High School, Mrs. Pryor served in World War II with the U. S. Navy as a W.A.V.E. She served as the postmaster of the Kirbyville Post Office from 1953 through 1970, when she retired. Mrs. Pryor was a life long member of the Methodist Church and an active member of the Kirbyville United Methodist Church since 1948, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, member of the choir and past President of the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Pryor tirelessly served her community. She was a member of the Call Homecoming Association, a past president of the Kirbyville Chamber of Commerce, a two time past president of the Kirbyville Women's Civic Club, and was a life member of the PTA, where she served as president of both the local chapter and the Jasper Newton Bi-County Council. M rs. Pryor was named outstanding citizen by the Kirbyville Chamber of Commerce in 1973, and was honored with a Women of Military Award in 1998 by the Kirbyville Women's Civic Club. Mrs. Pryor was a member of the American Legion in Kirbyville for 54 years, where she retained the oldest active membership. Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at First United Methodist Church in Kirbyville with Rev. Eric Ryburn and Rev. Mollie Sue Clements officiating. Burial will be at the Trout Creek Cemetery in Call, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 105 West Main, Kirbyville, Tx. 75956. Mrs. Pryor was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Annie fuller, Pauline Bell, Mollie Eddleman, and Mattie Sue Cansler; and her brothers, John C. Ira D. Pulliam, 99, of Kirbyville died March 21, 1997 at Lakes Area Regional Hospital in Jasper.
Funeral was held March 22 at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Davis Cemetery in Beulah Springs.
A native of Sabine County, he lived in Kirbyville 62 years and was a retired farmer.
Survivors include a son, H.D. Pulliam of Kirbyville; daughter Joyce Tatman of Opelousas, Louisiana; brothers, Buren Pulliam of Houston and Burdett Pulliam of Bronson; sisters, Dorothea Hines of Pineland and Arlou Sparks of Houston; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Biscamp Pollard, 76, of Beaumont died Saturday, March 25, 1989 at her home.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at L.M. Williams and Sons Funeral Directors with a 2 p.m. graveside service in Friendship Cemetery near Jasper.
A native of Kirbyville, she lived in Beaumont 50 years.
Survivors include her husband, John D. Pollard of Beaumont; daughter, Billie Gibbs of Houston; sons, Bob Willis of Oklahoma City and Jimmy Willis of Torrance, Calif.; a sister, Annie McKiethen of Buna; brothers, Earl Biscamp of Vidor and Carl Biscamp of Kirbyville; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Charlie Pool, 93, of Kirbyville died Oct. 26, 2001, at South Place Nursing Center in Athens.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Davis Cemetery in Beulah Springs community under the direction of E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville.
A native of Selina, Ks., he lived in Kirbyville most of his life and was a retired diesel mechanic.
Survivors include his son, Alex Pool of Leesburg; daughter, Alice Saunders of College Station; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Ashworth Pool, 72 of Kirbyville, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Kirbyville Cemetery.
She died about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 1972 in a Jasper hospital.
A native of Oakdale, La., she had lived in Kirbyville 30 Years.
Survivors include her husband, Neal Pool Sr.; a son Neal Pool Jr., Kirbyville; three daughters, Mrs. Beulah Thompson, Fort Worth, Mrs. Audrie Laky, Colorado Springs, Colo. And Mrs. Sam J. Lee Jr., Freeport; four brothers, Carl, Eula, Herman and Nathan Ashworth, all of Louisiana.

KIRBYVILLE – Neal Pool Sr., 95, of Kirbyville died at 12:04 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, 1980 at Buna Nursing Home after an illness.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home with burial in Kirbyville Cemetery.
A native of Louisiana, he had lived in Kirbyville 32 years and was a retired employee of Santa Fe Railroad. He was also a World War I veteran.
Survivors include one son, Neal Pool Jr. of Kirbyville; three daughters, Gertrude Lee of Freeport, Pat Holzrichter of Colorado City, Colo., and Beulah Thompson of Kirbyville; and 17 grandchildren.

Edith Louise Griggs Popejoy, 45, of Jasper died Friday, December 17, 1993 at Mary E. Dickerson Memorial Hospital in Jasper.
Funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Jasper with entombment at Garden of memories Mausoleum under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. today and Tuesday until time of service at the funeral home.
A native of jasper and a former longtime resident of Burkeville, she was a longtime resident of Jasper and was director of nurses at Shady Acres Nursing Home.
Survivors include her mother, Mable Ocie Griggs of Burkeville; husband, Dr. Lee Tarence Popejoy Jr., of Jasper; sons, Lee T. Popejoy III, Stirling Kaimler Johnathan Popejoy and Nicholas William Deka Popejoy, all of Jasper; daughter, Lauralee Popejoy Golden and Caroline Popejoy Hart, both of Jasper, Kristi Dee Popejoy of Dallas and Augusta Susannah Popejoy of Nacogdoches; brother, Jerry Glenn Griggs of Burkeville; and three grandchildren.

NEWTON – Funeral for Jimmie Eugene Poplin, 53, will be at 2 p.m. today in Newton Missionary Baptist Church with burial in Ford Cemetery under direction of Griner Funeral Home.
He died at 3 p.m. Thursday in Doctor’s Clinic after an apparent heart attack. A native of Joaquin, he was in insurance agent in Newton.
Survivors include his wife, Verble Poplin; one son, Jimmie Poplin Jr. of Newton; three daughters, Shirley Ann Hooks of Kirbyville, Brenda Sue McCormick of Silsbee and Linda Lou Poplin of Jasper; one brother, Sam Poplin of Vidor; two sisters, Louise Smith and Maxine Stewart, and his mother, Mrs. Jim Poplin, all of Newton.
Poplin, Thelma B.
NEWTON – Thelma B. Poplin, 74, of Newton died at 6:50 a.m. Sunday, March 30, 1981 at Newton Memorial Hospital after an illness.
Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Newton Church of Christ with burial in Ford Cemetery under the direction of Griner Funeral Home.
A native of Silsbee, she had lived in Newton 52 years.
Survivors include one son, Sam Poplin of Vidor; Stewart and Louise Smith, both of Newton; one brother, Fred Burnett of Thayer, Mo.; three sisters, Mary Bell Denby, Bonnie Doiron and Julia Bernard, all of Beaumont; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Porter, Susie William
Mrs. Susie William Porter was born June 18, 1879 in White Hall, South Carolina to the late Mr. And Mrs. Freeman Williams. She was married to he late Mr. J.H. Porter in November 1896. To this union twelve children were born-seven preceded her in death. She united with the New Hope Baptist Church February 1930 under the leadership of the late Rev. R.L. Fortner.
Mrs. Porter departed this life Thursday, June 15, 1972, at her residence.
She is survived by three daughters; Mrs. Very Porter of Kirbyville, Mrs. Johnnie Mundile of Temple, and Mrs. Mary Joy Wofford of Houston; two sons-Pete of Kirbyville, and Eddie of Gulfport, Mississippi; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, twenty-four great-great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Poston, Virginia Lee “Didd”
Virginia Lee "Didd’’ Poston, 84, of Jasper died Nov. 28, 2001, at Christus Jasper Memorial Hospital.
A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.
A native of Clarksburg, W.Va., and a longtime resident of Jasper, she was a retired Kirbyville Independent School District secretary and teacher.
Survivors include sons, Wiley Kenley Poston II of Vidor and Charlie Staley Poston of Austin; daughters, Lucy Louise Poston of Natchitoches, La., and Amy Lee Poston of Jasper; brother, Charles Temple Stealey of League City; and five grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation.
Powell, Alice Lowery
KIRBYVILLE – Funeral services for Alice Lowery Powell, 63, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Kirbyville Cemetery.
Mrs. Powell died at noon Friday in a Beaumont hospital after a long illness. She was a native of Orange and had lived in Kirbyville for 45 years.
Survivors include her husband, Lloyd Powell, stepmother, Agnes Lowery of Sulphur, La.; six brothers, Leo Lowery of Crane, J.A. Lowery of Hackberry, La., Lauris and Arthur Lowery, both of Sulphur, C.J. Lowery of Carlyss, La., and Lawrence Lowery of Lake Charles and four sisters, Geraldine Sirello of Newport Beach, Calif., Lorain Wood of Beaumont, Peggy Stine and Doris Vinson, both of Sulphur.

Benjamin “Frank” Powell, 89, of Kirbyville died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial at Kirbyville Cemetery. Visitation will begin at noon today at the funeral home.
A lifelong resident of Kirbyville, he was a retired farmer and cattleman.
Survivors include his wife, June Miller Powell of Kirbyville; daughter, Gayla Dubose of Beaumont; and a grandson.

Funeral services for C.H. “Ted” Powell, 61 of Nacogdoches and a former resident of Kirbyville, were at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Call Junction Baptist Church. Burial was in the Bean Cemetery, local arrangements under direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home.
He died early Thursday morning, May 9, 1974 in a Nacogdoches hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice Balew Powell of Nacogdoches, two daughters, Mrs. Ed Bonnett and Mrs. Carl Neel, both of Houston; a brother, Burnett Powell of Deer Park; four sisters, Mrs. Crilla Ferguson, Mrs. G.B. David Boyd Powell Sr., 55, of Kirbyville died Tuesday at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Houston.

A native of Kirbyville, he lived in Union, N.J., most of his life before moving back to Kirbyville, was a retired school teacher and was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen Powell of Union; sons, David Powell Jr. of Plainfield, N.J., and Peter C. Powell of Denver; a daughter, Emily Powell of Denver; a brother, Mickey Powell of Port Neches; and a grandchild.

She died Wednesday, November 13, 1986 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
A native of Kirbyville, she lived in Beaumont 14 years before moving to Vidor five years ago and was a retired nurse from St. Elizabeth Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, J.P. Powell of Vidor; two daughters, Gayle Kelly of Kirbyville and Wendi Mayo of Vidor; a brother, Leo Hall of Nederland, eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Powell died at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday at his residence near Kirbyville. A native of Waldo, Ark., he had lived in Kirbyville 51 years. He was a retired boiler fireman in a lumber mill.
Survivors include a son, Burnett Powell Sr. of Deer Park; four daughters, Dow West of Cushing, and Crilla Ferguson, G.V. Malone and Grace Balew, all of Kirbyville; a brother, Fred Powell of Kelso, Wash.; two sisters, Dr. Pauline Allen of Fort Worth and Ruby Reeves of Kopperl, Tex.; 28 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.

A native of Roganville, she lived in Kirbyville most of her life.

A native of Montgomery, Ala., she lived in Kirbyville 41 years.

A native and longtime resident of Call, he was a heavy equipment operator and a Vietnam War U.S. Navy veteran.
