Burial will be in Magnolia Springs, Texas under direction of Bridge City Funeral Home. He died at 8:42 p.m. Thursday at Orange Memorial Hospital. He was a journeyman carpenter and member of Carpenters Local 2007 in Orange. Survivors include his wife, LaVelle Chandler of Bridge City; a daughter, Melissa Garrett of Orange; four sons, David, Scott, Tim and Mark Chandler, all of Bridge City; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Chandler of Kirbyville; a sister, LaRue Adams of Lafayette, La.; two brothers, Hershel Chandler of Houston and Doyle Chandler of Kirbyville; and eight grandchildren.

KIRBYVILLE – Funeral for Jessie O. Chandler, 80, will be at 10 a.m. today in the Call Junction Baptist Church in Kirbyville. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in White Rock Cemetery in Center, Texas. He died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, August 29, 1980 at his home. A native of Shelby County, he had lived in Kirbyville 29 years. He was a retired farmer. Survivors include his wife, Pearl Davis Chandler of Kirbyville; two sons, Hershel Chandler of Longview and Dole Chandler of Kirbyville; a daughter, LaRue Lockwood of Lafayette, La.; a brother, Sam Chandler of Jacksonville; two sisters, Evie Whitton of Kirbyville and Annie Rains of Center; 17 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Willie Mae Chapman, 65, of Kirbyville will be at 4 p.m. today in the Kirbyville Church of Christ. Burial will be in the Davis Cemetery in Beulah Springs under direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. The body will be at the family home until time of services. She died at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 1973. She was a lifelong resident of the area. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Billie Jean Nugent, Kirbyville; two brothers, Robert Smith, Kirbyville, and J.C. Smith, Magnolia Springs, and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Morgan, Kirbyville, and Mrs. Mattie Hyatt, Buna.

Charlton, Lucile Jenkins
KIRBYVILLE – Lucile Jenkins Charlton,, of Kirbyville died at 10 a.m. Sunday, September 14, 1980 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont after an illness. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial in Bean Cemetery. A native of Covington, La., she had lived in Kirbyville 30 years. Survivors include her husband, J.C. Charlton of Kirbyville; brother, Esco Jenkins of Bush, La.; numerous grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Chase, Charles Edward
Funeral service for Charles Edward Chase, 73, of Buna was held Saturday, February 23 at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with burial in Kirbyville Cemetery. He died Friday, February 22, 1985 at Veterans Administration Hospital in Houston after an illness. A native of Sims, Louisiana, he lived in Kirbyville 35 years before moving to Buna 25 years ago and was a retired auto mechanic. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include a son, Charles Roy Chase of Houston; and seven grandchildren.

Chase, Wanda Nell
{May 22, 1979} Funeral set for victim of accident BUNA – Funeral for a Houston woman who died Friday of Injuries suffered in a June 10 accident will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home with burial in Bean Cemetery in Kirbyville. Wanda Nell Chase, 34, of Houston suffered a crushed chest when she was struck by a car as she crossed the 7600 block of Ley Road on June 10. A spokesman for the Harris County medical examiner said Chase was crossing the street in the middle of the block at an angle from east to west. No charges were filed on the driver of the car. Chase died at 6:45 p.m. Friday in Ben Taub Hospital. A native of Kirbyville, she was a resident of Houston. Survivors include two sons, Gary Wayne and David Wayne Smith, both of Buna; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Chase of Buna; and two brothers, Charles Roy Chase of Channelview and Willie Ray Chase of Buna.

Funeral for Willie Ray Chase, 41, of Buna will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home in Buna with burial in Kirbyville Cemetery in Kirbyville. He died Monday afternoon, October 20, 1980 at Buna Medical Center.

Choate, J.P. “Dusty”
KIRBYVILLE – Funeral for J.P. “Dusty” Choate, 77, of Call will be at 2 p.m. today at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home with Masonic graveside rites in Kirbyville Cemetery. He died at 4:25 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 1980 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont after an illness. A native of Kirbyville, he had lived in the Kirbyville area most of his life and was a former resident of Port Arthur. He was a retired pipefitter from Local 195. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Partin Choate of Call; two sons, Tom E. Choate of Nacogdoches and Donald C. Gardner of Port Neches; a brother, Harold Choate of Houston; and three grandchildren.

KIRBYVILLE – Funeral for Irene Sargent Christian, 84, will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Kirbyville First Baptist Church with burial in the Kirbyville Cemetery under the direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Mrs. Christian died at 1 p.m. Sunday in the Mixson Memorial Hospital. A native of Angelina County, she was reared in Tyler County and moved to Kirbyville in 1908. Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Blake of Kirbyville, Vallie Dee Richardson and Josephine Matthews, both of Houston; four sons, R.W. Christian of Houston, B.F. Christian of Channelview, Raymond Christian of Porter, Tex., and Weyman Christian of Kirbyville.

Christopherson, W.H. “Buster”
KIRBYVILLE – Funeral services for W.H. “Buster” Christopherson Sr., 77, of Old Salem are pending at Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. He died at 2:30 p.m. Monday, {July 1, 1974} in a Beaumont Hospital. He was an area native and a retired oilfield gauger. Survivors include two sons, W.H. Christopherson Jr. of Groves and S.A. Christopherson of Florida.

Clark, Lom A.
Funeral services for Lom A. Clark, 27, of Houston will be held in the Griner Funeral Home Chapel in Newton. The Rev. Devore Sanson, pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Newton City Cemetery. He died Tuesday morning, December 14, 1971 in Houston. He was employed by the Industrial Metal Co. in Houston. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Allie Whitman of Kirbyville; two brothers, Adam Clark of California and Johnny Clark of Houston; five sisters, Mrs. Erline Oxley of Newton, Mrs. Mildred Urby of Beaumont, Mrs. Lois Adams of Weatherford, Okla., Mrs. Dorothy Meter of Crane and Mrs. Jewel Pennington of Kirbyville.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Newton with burial at Newton City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Newton. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A native of Milam County, she lived in Newton 62 years and was a retired Newton Independent School District teacher. Survivors include daughters, Mary Donald Cliburn Booker of Little Rock, Ark., and Alice Lee Cliburn of Memphis, Tenn.; son, David H. Cliburn of Baton Rouge; and six grandchildren.

Vera Lavene Cliett, 73, of Port Neches died Jan. 14, 2001, at her residence. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Port Neches with burial at Oak Bluff Memorial Park under the direction of Levingston Funeral Home in Port Neches. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A native of Roganville, she lived in Port Neches many years and was a Goodrich Credit Union loan officer. Survivors include her husband, George W. Cliett of Port Neches; daughter, Marylyn K. Gambrell of Houston; sons, Gary L. Funeral services for Roy W. Cline, 62, of Newton, a former Kirbyville area resident, were held Wednesday at Pace Funeral Home in Kountze. The Rev. Kirby Cowart, pastor of Pentecostal Church of God in Kountze, was officiating minister. Burial was in Bean Cemetery near Kirbyville. Cline died late Monday, February 1, 1971 in a Beaumont hospital following a long illness. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Virgie Cline of Newton; two sons, Charles A. Cline, both of Kountze; three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Ward and Mrs. Mary Simmons, both of Newton, and Mrs. Edna Davis of Bon Wier. Also, three brothers, Perry Cline of Kirbyville and Earnest Cline of Kountze; a sister, Mrs. Ruby Oliver of Call; and eight grandchildren.

Donald Ray Cloud, 54, of Hartburg died Jan. 4, 2001, at Memorial Hermann Baptist Beaumont Hospital. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Hartburg Baptist Church with burial at King Cemetery under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the church. A native of Natchitoches, La., and a longtime resident of Hartburg, he was a Texas Department of Highways and Transportation sign truck foreman based in Orange. Joe Allen Cloud, 65, of Beaumont died November 23, 1996 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Funeral was held Monday November 25 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A native of Kirbyville, he was a longtime resident of Beaumont and was a retired operator for Mobil Oil and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Cloud of Beaumont; sons, James Allen Cloud and Ronny Lynn Cloud, both of Lumberton, Joe Bradley Cloud of Beaumont; daughter, Charlott Ann Burgin of Beaumont; brother, Charles Hershel Cloud of Kirbyville; sisters, W. Dene Odum of Smithville, and Patsy Jones of Point Blank; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Rosie Hawthorne Cady, 80, of Beaumont died November 23, 1996 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. Funeral was held Monday, November 25 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home with burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A native of Kirbyville, she lived in Beaumont 58 years and was a retired cafeteria worker for Beaumont school district. Survivors include daughters, Mary Lee young of Vidor, and Carlene Weikel of Beaumont; sister, Annie Wilson of Evadale; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Fred L. Cain, 63, of Kirbyville were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home with the Rev. Edward Heacock, pastor of Kirbyville United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial was in Kirbyville City Cemetery. A native of Kirbyville, he was a retired fireman from the Orange Naval Station. He died at 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 1972 in Orange Memorial Hospital. Survivors include a foster daughter, Mrs. Barbara Coleman of Kirbyville and a brother, Lee Roy Cain of Shreveport.

Caraway, Virgil Earl
Virgil Earl Caraway, 77, of Town Bluff died Jan. 26, 2001, at Jasper Convalescent Center. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. today at Riley Funeral Home in Woodville with burial at Town Bluff Cemetery. A longtime resident of Hardin County, he lived in Town Bluff many years and was a retired welder. Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Parker Caraway of Town Bluff; daughter, Carylon Caraway of Hillsboro; sons, Thomas Caraway of Lumberton and Wade Caraway of Silsbee; stepson, Harvey L. Stringer Funeral Home. Carlos died at 6 p.m. Thursday, December 21, 1973 in a Buna hospital. He was a retired Gulf Oil employee and had lived in Kirbyville 25 years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Carlos of Kirbyville and one stepson, Hayden W. King, Austin.

Survivors include his wife, Beatrice Cartee of Kirbyville; two sons, Vance Cartee Jr. of Incline Village, Nev., and Gary Cartee of Oceanside, Calif.; a brother, Robert Cartee of El Cajon, Calif; a stepbrother, Alonzo Allen of Austin; a sister, Kathleen Rice of Hemphill; two stepsisters, Burris Bean of Kirbyville and Helen Sheffield of Nederland; and two grandchildren.

Stringer Funeral Home in Kirbyville with a graveside service at White rock Cemetery near Center. A native of Grigsby, she lived in Kirbyville 53 years and was a former dairy operator. She is survived by sons, Hershel H. Chandler of Longview and Doyel E. Chandler of Kirbyville; a daughter, LaRue C. Lockwood of Arlington; sister, Viola Fowler of Shongaloo, Louisiana; 27 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

L.B. "Bert’’ Causey, 73, of Kirbyville died July 17, 2001, at his residence. Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Kirbyville United Methodist Church with a Masonic graveside service by Nathan Corley Masonic Lodge No. 294 AF&AM at Kirbyville City Cemetery under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper. Visitation will begin at 5 p.m. today at the funeral home. A native of Merryville, La., and a longtime resident of Kirbyville, he was a licensed mortician and owner of Locks Flower Shop and Causey Monument Co. He also worked with Stringer & Griffin Funeral Homes and was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife, Maxine Causey of Kirbyville; sons, Tony Causey of Bellville and Terry Causey of Kirbyville; sister, Betty Jo Evans of Silsbee; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Causey Sr., 81, of Kirbyville will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the First United Methodist Church in Kirbyville with burial in Kirbyville Cemetery under the direction of Causey’s E.E. Stringer Funeral Home. Causey died at 11 a.m. Monday in the Buna Nursing Home after an illness. He was born in Jasper and lived most of his life in the Kirbyville area. He was retired from Sunset Furniture in Beaumont and had also worked a number of years as a shipping clerk for Kirby Lumber Co. Survivors include his wife, Grace Musgrove Causey; a son, L.B. “Bert” Causey Jr. of Kirbyville; a daughter, Betty Jo Evans of Silsbee; three brothers, Edgar Causey of California, Archie Causey of Port Isabel and Tom Causey of El Paso; four sisters, Lexie Herndon, Ruth Green and Irma Boyette, all of Kirbyville and Gladys Lyons of Fort Worth; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
