Funeral services for Rosalie Baker, 78, of Burleson were held Saturday, May 25 at Laurel Land Memorial Park, Fort Worth. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Baker passed away Friday, May 24, 2002, at Community Hospice House.
She was born December 15, 1923, in Doole, Tx, to Joseph and Annie Laura McMillan.
Mrs. Baker is survived by a son, Thomas J. Baker and wife, Marlane; daughters, Vickie King and husband, Bruce, Shelley Kettlar; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Faye Goodman, Dorothy Benham and Edith Blackwell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joe Lewis Fletcher, 84, of Rochester, Texas died May 24, 2002, at his home. He was a retired oil field pumper and a farmer.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 27 at Haskell Church of Christ in Haskell, Texas. Brett Anderson officiated. Burial will follow in the Rochester Cemetery.
Mr. Fletcher was born in Arnett, Oklahoma, on December 12, 1917. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Haskell and a member of the Masons, Sons of Herman and the American Legion.
Mr. Fletcher was preceded in death by his wife, Bess, in 1977.
He is survived by three sons, Ron Fletcher and wife, Midge, of El Paso, John Fletcher and wife, Sue, of Burleson, Chris Fletcher and wife, Nancy, of Burleson; one daughter, Jaquita Fletcher of Wichita, Kansas; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Berniece Marbut, 66, of Burleson were held Tuesday, May 28 at Burleson Church of Christ. Burial was at Grandview Cemetery.
Mrs. Marbut died Friday, May 24 at her residence. She was a retired owner and manager of a grocery store.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was born July 11, 1935, in Alvarado, Texas, the daughter of Willie Richard and Virgie Ola Moore Bosher. She had been a resident of Burleson for 38 years, and was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed bowling.
Mrs. Marbut was preceeded in death by her husband, Herman Marbut, on November 12, 1987.
She is survived by her son, Barry Marbut and wife, Andrea, of Joshua; daughter, Cathy Oliver of Godley; brothers, Bobby Bosher of Crowley, Earl Bosher of Fort Worth, Roy Bosher of Cleburne, Elvis Bosher of Burleson; sister, Mary Lee of Joshua; special friend, Tommy Davis of Burleson; and seven grandchildren.

CATHERINE HELEN BERGOB MC REDMOND
Catherine Helen Bergob McRedmond, born in Loretto, Tennessee, on May 11, 1911, the third of seven children, passed away in Keene, Texas, on May 22, 2002.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Martin Anthony, and daughter Alice.
Catherine moved to Dallas with her husband in 1932, where they raised their ten children and were active members of Holy Trinity Catholic Church for 60 years. A Proverbs 31 woman, Catherine was kind to all, even-tempered and multi-talented. She kept an orderly home, whistling and singing while she worked. Her artistic expression came to life in preparing healthy daily meals, sewing, upholstering, painting, embroidering, crocheting, smocking, canning, making jellies and root beer, etching on glass, photography, and picture developing in her kitchen made into a dark room.
She had a lifelong dedication to keeping up with family and friends by writing letters. She and Martin served the poor in Dallas for 35 years. Catherine was honored as an Affiliate of the Daughters of Charity West Central Province. She had a great appreciation of beauty, especially in nature, and liked being outdoors in the sun. She loved to swim. Catherine was ahead of her time, using many natural remedies to maintain health for herself and her family.
She loved to read, never lying down to rest without a book in her hand. She loved people and had a great interest in others. She was always involved in school parent organizations and community services. Her faith in God sustained her through her life, Catherine joyfully received baptism in the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Keene, Texas, in May 1998, while continuing her lifelong endeavor of studying the Bible.
She is survived by her children, Jean Bonnen of Homestead, Florida, Dorothy Weed of Keene, Texas, Frances McRedmond of Dallas, Texas, Kathy Kahil and husband, John, of Houston, Texas, Dr. M.A. (Tony) McRedmond, Jr. and wife, Mary Ellen, of Boerne, Texas, Ellen McRedmond D.C. of Amarillo, Texas, Joan Cannon of Atkins, Arkansas, Joe (Matt) McRedmond and wife, Marsha, of Lancaster, Texas, David McRedmond and wife, Vicki, of Denton, Texas; 29 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and sisters, Flora Russell of Evansville, Indiana, and Marie Williams of Dardanelle, Arkansas..

Gerald L. Richardson, 54, of Crowley died Sunday, May 26, 2002, at a Fort Worth hospital. He was a retired officer with the Fort Worth Police Department.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 30 at Joshua Baptist Church. Burial will be at Crowley Cemetery.
Gerald Lee Richardson, a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord Sunday surrounded by family and friends. He was born March 27, 1948, in Fort Worth. He grew up in White Settlement where he graduated from Brewer High School. He served his country in the Army from 1969 to 1973. He served his community as a Fort Worth police officer from 1974 until he retired in 1999.
Mr. Richardson was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Tonya Richardson in 1968; his mother, Bobbie Richardson in 1984; and his first wife of 21 years, Sue Richardson in 1988.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Brenda Richardson of Crowley; daughters, Dee Milligan and husband, Jeff, and Kim Jeter and husband, Lee, all of White Settlement; stepchildren, Brian Cone and wife, Jamie, of Godley, Cherise Cone of Burleson; father, R.W. Richardson of White Settlement; brother, Royce Richardson and wife, Diana, of Blum; and six grandchildren.

Jerry L. Thomas, 63, of Burleson passed away on Monday, May 27, 2002, in Burleson. He was a self-employed Service Technician.

Jerry was a member of The Church at Burleson. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his family. He was a well respected businessman in the Fort Worth area for over 30 years, known for his honesty and integrity.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his father, I.D. Thomas; brother, Johnny Thomas, and sister, Betty Sue Mayo, all of Carthage.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol Thomas; daughters, Tina Scott, Lisa Hutchison and Sherri Johnson; mother, Gracie Thomas; brothers, Jim and Robert Thomas; sisters, Lillie Robinson and Allie Mosley; grandchildren, Chaad Johnson, Brandon and Lauren Latham, Shawn Scott, Kyle, Karah, and Cassie Hutchison; and great-grandson, Cameron Smith.
He will be missed by many.

Geraldine "Jerry" Frazier Austin, 82, of Burleson died Wednesday, May 22, 2002, in Fort Worth. She was loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a retired Registrar for the Fort Worth Public Schools.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 24 at the First Baptist Church in Burleson. Burial was at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
Jerry was born April 7, 1920, in Pick Wick, Texas to Dan Calvin and Maude Pope Wester. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burleson since 1947. She was also past president of the Burleson Garden Club and had a lifetime membership in the Parent Teachers Association of Texas.
Jerry was preceded in death by a son, Terry Ray Frazier in 1990; two husbands, A.E. Frazier in 1964, and Dr. Carl M. Austin in 1999.
She is survived by son, Dennis Frazier and wife, Peggy, of Burleson; daughter, Sherry McClure and husband, Bob, of Burleson; grandchildren, Lance Frazier, Jill Ann Goetz, Kenneth McClure, Holly Gates, Clovis Murphree and Robby McClure; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Connie Kay Wadlington, 55, of Burleson died Tuesday, May 21, 2002. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and granny.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25 at the First Baptist Church in Burleson. Burial was at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
Connie was born August 14, 1946, in Granbury, Texas, the daughter of Irben and Mary Fannin. She had been a Burleson area resident for the past 13 years. She was a woman of high morals and character who put her family and friends first before herself. She touched those around her with love and caring words. She devoted her life to being a loving wife and mother at home throughout the years.
Connie loved to go antiquing with her children and always looked forward to spending long hours with her two grandchildren. She spent a lot of her time in her kitchen at home trying to come up with new cookie recipes to share with family and friends. Connie will be greatly missed by those who were blessed enough to have known her, but we know she is at peace in heaven with our Lord looking over us until we meet again in our Father's Kingdom.

Claudie V. Wagner, 63, of Burleson died Monday, May 20, 2002, at a Dallas hospital. He was a retired master electrician for the Fort Worth ISD.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 24 at Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel.
Claudie W. Wagner, a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, died Monday after an extended illness. He was born January 31, 1939, in Clifton, Texas, the son of Ervin W. and Juanita Carpenter Wagner.
Claudie had been a resident of Burleson for 25 years and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a former mayor of Meridian, Texas, and a member of the Meridian Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies and a life member of the Moslah Temple Shrine Director's Unit and had served in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed fishing and all sports. He was a member of Electrical Union IBEW Local 20.
Mr. Wagner was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Wayne Wagner; and his stepfather, James K. Morrison.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Barbara Wagner of Burleson; sons Rodney Wagner and wife, Patti, of Meridian, Steven Wagner and wife, Sharon, of Joshua, Brad Wagner of Dallas; special family member, Scott Pittman of Dallas; daughter, Cynthia Wagner of Joshua; sister, Delores Graves and husband, H.A., of Valley Mills; stepmother, Mary Morrison of Clifton; grandchildren, Lindsey Morton and husband, Wade, of Denver, Colorado, Erin Wagner of Meridian, Cody Wagner and Bailey "Beamer" Wagner, both of Joshua.

Mr. Stoelting passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2002, in Keene. He was born June 14, 1916, in Indiana to Walter Stoelting and Emma Sanders Stoelting. He married Shirley Schubert on August 12, 1979, in Takoma Park, Maryland. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and he served as Deacon.
Mr. Stoelting is survived by his wife, Shirley Stoelting of Keene; daughters, Sue Kilpatrick of Missouri and Robbie Jo Stevens of Atlanta, Georgia; sons, Rodney Stoelting and Reece Stoelting, both of Florida; brother, Donald Stoelting of Louisville, Kentucky; stepdaughter, Carol Shaver of Grand Prairie; and stepson Rick Davis of Columbia, Maryland.

Charles D. McCoy, 75, of Burleson, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 19, 2002 in Fort Worth following an extended illness. He was a retired business man. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, at the First Christian Church of Burleson. Burial will follow in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Charles was born on January 23, 1927, in Erie, Kansas. He married the love of his life Edna (Deana) McCoy on December 4, 1952 in Iola, Kansas. They came to settle in Texas in 1960.
Charles was a member of Erie Lodge #76 and had been a Mason for over 50 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and baseball. Charles loved working and spending time with others. He was a member of First Christian Church of Burleson.
Charles is survived by his wife, Edna (Deana) McCoy; sons, Lynn McCoy of Cleburne, Lyle McCoy and wife, Sheryl, of Joshua; grandchildren, Justin of Arlington, Misty, Stefanie and Tiffanie of Joshua; two sisters, Mavis Malson and Melba Martin of Kerrville.

MARY DELLA BROWNING
1925-2002
Mary Della Browning, 76, of Burleson has departed this life to begin eternal life with her Lord. She passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2002, in Fort Worth. For the past five years she has been lovingly and tenderly cared for by her devoted husband who was her constant companion as her chronic illness weakened her and kept her confined to home.
A memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at the Burleson Church of Christ.
Mary was born June 23, 1925, in Robstown, Texas, daughter of Jesse James and Lora Irene Thompson. She married Ralph H. Browning June 26, 1943, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and has resided in Burleson since 1965.
Mary and Ralph were married 58 years, and from that union came four children: Della Sue, Ralph Jr., James Earl and Robert Wade. Mary loved traveling, and as a result of Ralph's military career she was able to live in Ketchikan, Alaska; St. Louis, Missouri; New Orleans, Louisiana; and her favorite place of all -Galveston, Texas.
Mary was a member of the Church of Christ since the age of seven and a member of the Burleson Church of Christ for the past 37 years. She loved the Lord and took comfort in studying His Word and sharing it with others.
She managed her own successful wedding catering business and taught catering, cake decorating and professional foods classes at Tarrant County Junior College in Fort Worth. She had a great love of music, art and antiques. She delighted in singing with choral groups at church. In recent years she became an accomplished artist, producing many paintings for friends and family.
She was a deeply devoted wife and mother, and liked nothing better than being surrounded by her family.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jesse James Thompson, Jr. of Clinton, Mississippi and Jean Dalton Thompson of Tampa, Florida.
She is survived by husband, Ralph; her daughter, Della Browning Barron and husband, Timothy, of Plano, Texas; and three sons, Ralph H. Browning, Jr. and wife, Pamela, of Brownwood, Texas, James E. Browning of Joshua, and Robert W. Browning and wife, Cheryl, of Burleson; five grandchildren, Ralph H. Browning III and wife, Mindy, Jenny Darley, James Ellis Browning and wife, Heather, Lora Lee Browning, and David Austin Browning; three great-grandchildren, Madison, Joshua and Jasmine; one brother, George William Thompson and wife, Margaret, of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and one sister, Lillian Irene Talbot and husband, William (Dub), of San Antonio. She is also survived by 14 nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

MARY JANE MARSH

Mary Jane Marsh, 79, of Burleson died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at a Burleson care center. She was a retired teacher.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 17 at First United Methodist Church of Burleson.
Mary was born April 26, 1923, in Ringgold, Texas, the daughter of Fenton Lawrence and Joe McBride Witt. She had been a resident of Burleson for 32 years.
She taught history and American Government at Arlington Heights High School from 1957 until 1972, and at Burleson High School from 1972 until her retirement in 1986. During her teaching career, she was told she would be teaching a course on American Indians and would not have a textbook. She and her husband spent most of one summer visiting Indian sites in the western U.S. She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in an aircraft repair facility.
Mary was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Burleson. She enjoyed needlework, crocheting and loved to travel.
Mary was preceded in death by her son, Don Marsh, on 1993.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles Marsh of Burleson; daughters, Linda Haas of Burleson, Sarah Jane Huddleston of Gillett, Texas; brother, Tom Witt of Burleson; nephew, Jim Marsh of Rhode Island; grandchildren, Donna Lynn Eder and Cheryl Jo Coursey, both of Burleson, Sharon Mychelle Phelps of Crowley, Julia Anne Steger of Georgetown; and six great-grandchildren.

Jessy Lynn Burney, 57, of Burleson died Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at his home. He was a self-employed concrete contractor.

Jessy was born February 25,1945, in San Angelo, Texas to Melvin and Mildred Spradlin Burney. He was a member of the Joshua Baptist Church.
Jessy was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin Sr. and Mildred Burney; and brothers, Melvin "Sonny" Burney, Jr., Richard Burney and Charles Burney.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie, of Burleson; children, Mickey L. Burney of Fort Worth, Rodger D. Burney and wife, Sherralyn of Joshua, Shaunda Wolfe of Laguna Park, Scott L. R. L. Richardson, 85, of Venus died Monday, May 13, 2002, in Venus. He was a Rock Crusher Operator for TXI.

Mr. Richardson was born March 3, 1917, in Newcomb, Texas, to Garfield and Lanie Massengale Richardson. He married Lillie Adell Chupp January 23, 1945, in Fort Worth. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Richardson is survived by four sons, Adrian L. Richardson of Albuquerque, New Mexico, David M. Richardson of Burleson, Roger Dale Richardson of Dawson and Terry D. Richardson of Fort Worth; three daughters, Sharon Poynter of Alvarado, Reba Jean Gregory of Cleburne and Arlene Faye Moore of Fort Collins, Colorado; brother, Walter Richardson of Gulf Port, Mississippi; sister, Georgie; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

M.E. "Bub" Braden
Services for M.E. "Bub" Braden, 78, of Keene were held Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Cleburne Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Ron Halvorsen, Pastor Don Baker and Tim Braden officiated. Burial was in Keene Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Douglas Collins, Dan Fenimore, Tom Frazier, Larry Froemming, Scott Mullen, and Joe Rogers. Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Ayars, Dwayne Barnes, George Shaw, Bill Smith, Ernest Wetmore, Wade Foley, and Tony Medellin.
Mr. Braden died Saturday, May 4, 2002 in Fort Worth. He was born August 15, 1923 in Avery, Texas, to Clarence Alvin Braden and Maryann Lou Richardson Braden. He married Hazel Rogers on April 28, 1947 in Cleburne.
Mr. Braden worked many hours with the Adventist Disaster Relief Program, served on the Keene Cemetery Board and on the Planning and Zoning Board there. He was an usher and deacon for the Keene Church. He was a veteran of WWII, and a retired truck driver for McKee Baking Co.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Braden of Keene; three daughters, Cindy Foley and husband Wade of Cleburne, Penny Froemming and husband Larry of Orlando, FL, Robin Mullen and husband Scott of Cleburne; one son, Tim Braden and wife Lorenne of Burleson; mother Maryann Lou Braden of Brazos Point; brother Roy Braden of Granbury; sister Billye McGehee of Morgan; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

BILL STALLWORTH

Bill Stallworth, 74, of Burleson passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at a Fort Worth care center. He was a tool maker.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 10 at Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
Bill was born on May 11, 1927, in Texas City, Texas and grew up in Rockdale. He served in World War II in the seventh infantry and was with the occupational forces sent to Korea at the end of World War II. He earned the rank of Sergeant while in the services. He was retired from Lockheed-Martin after 37 years.
Mr. Stallworth was preceded in death by a son, Robert Earl Stallworth in 1964.

Gene Parks was born in Scranton, Texas on December 27, 1938. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crowley and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Crowley. Gene was a loving husband, father, grandfather and a dear friend to everyone he met. We will all miss you.

Bobby Cain served 20 years in the military as a Boats-wain's Mate, 1st Class in the Coast Guard. He worked 17 years as shop foreman for Dover Elevators, now known as Thyssen-Krupp.

Otis Lincoln Smith, 78, of Joshua died Saturday, May 4, 2002. He was a retired Cattle Buyer. He accidentally drowned doing what he loved best, fishing.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 9 at Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel in Burleson. Burial will be at Caddo Cemetery in Joshua.
Otis Lincoln Smith was born July 13, 1923, in Joshua to Grover Cleveland and Emmer Elizabeth Smith. He lived in Joshua all his life. He married Olive Irene Anderson on June 6, 1942, in Cleburne.
Otis was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946. He was in the dairy business for 30 years and was also a cattle buyer.
He was a member of the Joshua Church of Christ for many years where he served both as a deacon and an elder. In later years he was a faithful member of the Burleson Church of Christ. He was a very special husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed by so many friends and loved ones.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Irene, in 1948.

Roy W. "Corky" Davis, 67, of Whitney died Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at his home.

Mr. Davis was born August 16, 1934, in Waco, the son of Roy Earl and Lillie Irene (Sockwell) Davis. He graduated from Mosheim High School. He married Joyce Lough on May 11, 1957. Mr. Davis served in the United States Army from 1957-1959. He worked for and later co-owned Dickerson and Son Automotive for 41 years.

Ethel Mae Switser, 90, of Burleson died Thursday, April 25, 2002 at a local nursing center. She was a devout Christian woman and homemaker.

Ethel was born July 6, 1911, in Cherokee, Oklahoma to Harry and Mary Waynant Wright. She married Robert E. Switser on February 4, 1941. She enjoyed crocheting, playing Skip-Bo, and attended Crestmont Baptist Church in Burleson.
She is survived by daughter, Mary Jo Walker and husband, Eddie, of Burleson; grandchildren, Lance Bixler, Stephanie Walker, Mindy Bixler, Clint Walker, and several friends.

CHARLES RUSHING "Rush" MANNING
Rush Manning, 89, died on Wednesday, April 10, 2002. A graveside service was held in the Texas State Cemetery on Saturday, April 13.
Mr. Manning was born in Shelby County, Texas on August 13, 1912 to C.A. and Frances Watson Manning. After graduation from high school, he attended Sam Houston State Teachers College where he received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in vocational agriculture. He was a career educator teaching vocational agriculture and many other subjects in the Pasadena, Burleson and Rio Vista School Districts. For many years he was the Future Farmers of America (FFA) sponsor in the schools where he taught.
In 1940 Mr. Manning was elected to the Texas House of Representatives from Shelby County and served two terms as a State Representative. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a 65-year member Master Mason of Timpson Lodge 437. As a life-long Democrat, he loved to participate in political campaigns and Democratic Party politics.
In 1961, he married Opal Carter and helped raise her son. Their 40-year marriage was filled with happiness, travel, dancing, and, their first love, helping others recover from the ravages of alcoholism.
The Mannings lived in Burleson until 1997 when they moved to Austin to be closer to their grandchildren.
Mr. Manning was preceded in death by his wife Opal in December 2000.
He is survived by his son, Joe K. Longley; three grandchildren, Adam, Bill and Grace Ann Longley, all of Austin; and a niece, Joyce Anson, of Dallas.

Jessie Moore was born in Calhoun, Georgia, in 1912. She was a resident of Burleson for many years, and also a resident of Fort Worth for several years. She was a longtime member of Robert Lee Baptist Church in Robert Lee, Texas.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her loving husband, William M. Copeland, in 1976.

Gary Mack Pratt,49, of Burleson, passed away Wednesday, March 27, in Denton County, Texas. Pallbearers were Ron Sisk, Lee Bradshaw, Burt Frye, Everett Logan, Kurt Eagle and Ray Don Lucas.
Mr. Pratt was born July 25,1952, in Gainesville, Texas, to Raymond Lee and Maxie Belle Koonce Pratt. He had lived in Thackerville one year and had been a resident of Burleson for 30 years. Mr. Pratt and Tanya Bradfield were married March 21, 1985, in Burleson. He graduated from Boyd High School, Boyd, Texas, in 1970 where he was a member of the FFA Chapter and enjoyed exhibiting animals. Mr. Pratt attended Weatherford College, Weatherford, Texas. He owned Pratt's Bait & Tackle in Marietta, Oklahoma, one year and had been employed by Lone Star Gas Company and Texas Utilities for 29 years. At the time of his death, he was employed as a pipeline specialist for Oncore-Texas Utilities. Mr. Pratt loved to fish and spend time with his family. He was a generous, caring person who loved animals and was of Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Tanya Pratt; two sons, Benjamin Derek Pratt of Fort Worth, Lee Allan "Bucky" Pratt of Thackerville; mother, Maxie Holder and husband, Charles of Marietta Oklahoma; father, Raymond Lee Pratt of Marietta Oklahoma.

FRANK H. MANNAN, SR.

Frank H. Mannan, Sr., of Burleson departed this life March 27, 2002, in a local hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30 at Lighthouse Church, formerly known as the Steppingstone Church in Burleson. Burial was at Emerald Hills Memorial Park in Kennedale.
Born March 5, 1930, in Big Lake, Texas, Mr. Mannan was raised in Petersburg, Texas. He married Cleta B. Hill on March 27, 1950.
He began the first of his many careers as a roughneck in West Texas. He later became an oilfield welder for Todd Shipyards in Torrance, California. He worked for McDonald Douglas in Los Angeles, California.
Mr. Mannan became a minister for the Assemblies of God in 1956. He became a Real Estate Salesman in the early 1960's, and later a Real Estate Broker selling property in both California and Texas. He joined the Millwright Union on 1971 and retired in 1991.
His favorite pastime was drinking coffee with his friends, playing dominos, building trailers and working on his tractor. He was known as "Poppy" to many and was loved by all who knew him.
During his life, Mr. Mannan accomplished many things. He raised eight children to adulthood; he was pastor of a church; and he owned his own business. Most importantly, his writings, storytelling and the values of love, life and faith will live on. At his death this world lost a wonderful, loving and generous man.
Mr. Mannan was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Gertrude Mannan; two brothers, Alvin and Joe P. Mannan; son, Frank, Jr.; and one grandson, Darek Baze.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cleta; daughters, Juanita Pound and husband, Michael, Jennie Eversole and husband, Bruce, Bonnie Forray and husband, Jerome, Donna Mannan, Joy Brown and husband, Jerry; sons, Joseph Mannan and wife, Tammy, John Mannan and Timothy Mannan; grandchildren, Jason, Keith, Kandice, Brian, Allegra, David, Dustin, Summer, Curtis, Pamela, Frank III, Heather, Nathaniel, Ericka, Derek, Christina, Jeremy and Shane; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, James Mannan and wife, Geneva, Henry Mannan and wife, Vicki, and Tom Mannan and wife, Londa; sisters, Wanda Henderson and husband, Lewis, Sue Mannan and Margaret Mannan; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, precious friends and extended family.

Donald T. Volkman, 76, of Burleson passed away Sunday, March 24, 2002, in Fort Worth.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 26 at the First United Methodist Church of Burleson. Burial was at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Don Volkman was born and raised in Forestburg. He served in the 78th Lightning Division of the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Silver Star medal for gallantry in action.
After the war, Mr. Volkman attended Texas Wesleyan University where he met and married Donna Hogan. He retired from General Dynamics in 1971 and became a successful land developer and businessman in Burleson and Crowley. He built countless homes and developed over one thousand acres of land. However, his greatest devotion was always to his wife and family.
Mr. Volkman was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and his sister.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Donna; brother, J.C. Volkman; children, Beverly Volkman-Powell, John Volkman and Jana Volkman; son-in-law, Charlie Powell; daughter-in-law, Kathy Volkman; grandchildren, Chris and Heather Volkman, Ken and Ashley Shetter, Charles and Holly Shetter, Jacie Volkman, Gene Schilder, Brad Schilder, Bradley Corbin and James Powell; great-grandchildren, Kateland Brewster, Lexi Berry, Jenna Kemp and Hogan Shetter.

George H. "G.H." Walls, 77, of Crowley passed away Saturday, March 23, 2002, in Fort Worth. He was a retired rural letter carrier.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 26 at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel in Fort Worth. Interment was at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
George H. Walls was born September 13, 1924, in Grandview. He served in Europe during World War II for three and a half years, then returned to Fort Worth and married Mary Lou McMillion on April 5, 1946.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a city letter carrier for 18 years and as a Crowley rural letter carrier until his retirement in 1982.
Mr. Walls was a director for the Tarrant County Farm Bureau, a Crowley city councilman, mayor pro-tem and active in the Church of Christ.
He enjoyed deer hunting and the outdoors.
Mary Lou and the family wish to extend their appreciation to the doctors and caregivers of the fourth and seventh floors of Plaza Medical Hospital in Fort Worth.

Elaine Dickey Phillips, 93, of Burleson, died Wednesday, March 20, 2002 in Burleson.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 12351 Oak Grove Rd. South, in Burleson. Burial was at 2:30 p.m. at Norwood Crafton Lower Cemetery in Crafton, Texas.
Pallbearers were David McAttee, Bert Henderson, Jimmy Ryter, Bob Ford, Monty Kness, and Steve Bonham.
Mrs. Phillips was born July 16, 1908 in Crafton, Texas. She was a great sports enthusiast and played tennis, volleyball, basketball and baseball all through high school in Alvord where she was Wise County Tennis Champion in 1926. She attended Baylor University and Oklahoma College for Women, While living in Bowie, she was a pitcher for one of the first professional women's baseball teams in Texas. She later became a tennis coach and started the first tennis program in Burleson in the late 50's. She continued to coach and play until the age of 86. Elaine was active with her children in Cub Scouts, Camp Fire and PTA. She also was an accomplished musician, having taught piano, organ, violin and mandolin for almost 50 years. Many of her students have gone on to careers in music study. She was pianist at Oak Grove Baptist Church for 15 years and organist at Garden Acres Baptist Church for 35 years, She was a resident of Garden Acres for 52 years.
Mrs. Phillips was a giving, loving, generous human being having been honored with five namesakes through the years. She made her peach cobblers for everyone and was known as "P.C. Phillips." She loved her cats as no one else. She will be missed by everyone who knew her and was blessed by her example. She was surrounded by those who cared for her when she went to be with the Lord and all those whom she has missed for so many years.
Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, J.D. Phillips; a sister, Faye; a brother, Grier; and one grandson, Greg Bonham.
She is survived by sons, David Phillips of Albu-querque, New Mexico and Barry Phillips of Burleson; daughter, Gayle Bonham of Loveland, Colorado; Six grandchildren; and 14 great- grandchildren.

Carl Jack Watson, 70, passed away Monday, March 18, 2002, at a Fort Worth Hospital. Burial will be at Pleasant Point Cemetery in Johnson County.
Mr. Watson was born in Burleson on April 4, 1931. He was an avid horseman and well respected in the equine industry. He was a member of the Jockey Club, the American Quarterhorse Association, and the Texas Thoroughbred Association. He was a wonderful father and cherished friend. He will be greatly missed.

George E. Bransom, Jr., 83, of Burleson passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2002, in Fort Worth. He was a retired Bank President.

George E. Bransom was a lifelong resident of Burleson. He was a pilot of the Flying Fortress Man o' War where he completed 50 combat missions and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with nine oak leaf clusters. George retired from the Air Force as a captain. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1939 where he played tackle on the Aggie team. George was also very active in several civic and community services of Burleson and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Burleson.
Mr. Bransom was preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Bransom; his father, G.E. Bransom, Sr.; and his brother, Bob Bransom.

Durwood Creacy, age 73, of Evant died Wednesday, March 6, 2002, at his home.
Funeral services were held Friday, March 8 at the Gatesville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at the Pearl Cemetery.
Mr. Creacy was born February 7, 1929, in Pearl, Texas to the late Orvel Lawson and Mima Keeton Creacy. He was reared and attended school in Pearl and Evant. He served in the Marines from 1945 to 1947. He married Betty Jean Gourley on August 4, 1948. After their marriage they resided in Belton and Salado, moving to Evant in 1954.
Mr. Creacy was a retired civil service employee at Ft. Hood with 40 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He was a member of Bee House Masonic Lodge in Evant and Past Master of the Belton Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Creacy was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean Gourley, on April 3, 2001.
He is survived by son, Larry Creacy of Burleson; daughter, Sherry Crain and husband, Doug, of Stephenville; grandchildren, Andrea, Brent, Christie, Calandre and Maria; and great-grandchildren, Conner and Maeson.

Linda Carrol 'Honey" Voegtlin, 54, of Burleson passed peacefully at her home on March 1, 2002, after a long battle with breast cancer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 5 at Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Alan Pennington will officiate. Visitation will be Monday, March 4 from 6 pm to 9 pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Voegtlin was born in Fort Worth to J.T. and Rachel Harris on February 24, 1948. She was a longtime resident of Burleson. She and her husband were co-owners of Diagnostic Excellence. She was formerly employed by Associated Medical Arts Laboratories, Huguley Memorial Hospital and the Burleson Star/Star Publications. She had a great love of animals, gardening and was an avid golfer at Mountain Valley Country Club.
Mrs. Voegtlin was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by husband, David Voegtlin of Burleson; daughters, Lisa Jordan and Cheryl Lynn Unsworth, both of Burleson; granddaughter, Brook Jordan of Burleson; brothers, J.T. Linda Sebastian Ezell passed away Sunday, February 24, 2002, at Park Manor Nursing Home.
Linda was born November 21, 1916, to Charles Arthur and Cora Craig Sebastian in McClendon, Rockwall County, Texas. She married Jack Ezell on February 22, 1941. They were longtime members of Tyler Street Methodist Church where they were founding members of the Yeats Sunday School Class. Both Linda and Jack were former Southwestern Bell Telephone employees and lifetime residents of Texas.
Mrs. Ezell was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Ezell, on March 2, 1989; two sisters, Ima Stanley of Terrell, Texas, and Winnie Williams of Dallas; two brothers, Belton Sebastian of Rockwall, Texas, and Bill Sebastian of Dallas.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Fong was born and raised in Keene. In 1958 she married Dr. D.J. Fong in Mineral Wells. She graduated from the Northwest Texas Hospital School of Nursing in 1961 and West Texas State University in 1979.

Mr. Parkinson passed away Sunday, March 3, 2002, in Burleson after a long illness.
He was born November 16, 1922, in White Point, Texas. He married Margie Kinsey on May 15, 1954, and was a longtime resident of Odessa and San Angelo before moving to Burleson last year. He was a truck driver for 44 years, retiring from Enterprise Transportation November 16, 1984.
Mr. Parkinson was preceded in death by a son, Wade E. Parkinson, Sr., on May 13, 1999.

Horace E. "Eddie" Martin, 68, a Data Processor, and a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, passed away Monday, February 25, 2002, at a local hospital.

Stacey Lynn Calvin Clopton, 48, died Saturday, February 23, 2002, at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana.
Mrs. Clopton, the daughter of the late Stacy Calvin and the former Vera F. Harris, was a native of Burleson. She was a loving wife and devoted mother with a strong sense of history. She loved to do family genealogy research.
Mrs. Clopton was preceded in death by her father in 1993.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Clopton of Lafayette; one son, Bryan Todd Clopton of Lafayette; mother, Vera Calvin of Burleson; one sister, Carol Curlee of Joshua. She is survived by a caring a loving family and many friends who were dear to her heart.
A memorial/prayer service was held Sunday, February 24 at Delhomme Funeral Home in Lafayette, Louisiana. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 26 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves, Texas. Interment was in Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches, Texas.
Pallbearers were David Curlee, Greg Curlee, Trevor Hicks, Jacob Gil, Michael Gil and Adrion Burnaman.
Louisiana funeral arrangements were under the direction of Delhomme Funeral Home of Lafayette.
PETE YORK
1929-2002
Funeral services for Pete York, 72, of Keene will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 27 at Mountain Valley Chapel in Burleson. Chaplain Benji Leach will officiate. Burial will be at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
Mr. York died Sunday, February 24, 2002, in Fort Worth. He was born June 16, 1929, in Durham, Oklahoma, to Willie Hobart York and Jessie Elmira Moulton. He had been a resident of Joshua for the past five years, and of Keene two years prior to that. He was formerly from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Mr. York was a Baptist and a graduate of Oklahoma State Tech. He enjoyed golf and fishing. He served in the United States Navy for ten years. He retired in 1986 from American Electric Power in Tulsa where he was a fleet foreman.
Mr. York is survived by sons, Duane York and wife, Diane, of Keene, Alan York and wife, Pam, of Joshua; daughters, Sherrie Bonner and husband, Fred, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tammie Rudelis and husband, Glen, of Plano, Christie Lewis and husband, Lance, of Key West, Florida, Lori Harvey of Tulsa, and Patricia Gifford and husband, Shannon, of Tulsa; brothers, Wesley York of Durham, Oklahoma, Carroll York of Union City, California, Donnie York and Phil York, both of Durham, Oklahoma; sisters, Doris Hatley of Miami, Oklahoma, and Edna Hicks of Lodi, California; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

BESS LAUDERDALE STOUT
1906-2002
Bess Lauderdale Stout, Christian humanist, feminist, liberal Democrat and bird watcher, passed away on February 15, 2002.
She was born in Somerville, Texas on May 2, 1906, the youngest child of Allison Nelson Lauderdale and Julia Lynn (Covington) Lauderdale. At the age of 21 she married Charles Gordon Stout in Beaumont, Texas, her home for seventy years. She lost her husband in 1951, her daughter-in-law, Anne Winkler Stout in 1985, and her son, Charles Alison Stout in 1991. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Charles, Lila, Katherine and Robert.
Mrs. Stout is survived by her youngest son, Richard Gordon Stout; grandson, Stefan Drouilhet Stout; granddaughter, Allison Claire Stout Turner and her husband, Sean Frederick Turner and their children, Glenn Thomas and Mary Bess. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and their families.
Mrs. Stout was a 40 year employee of the Jefferson County tax office, rising to the top of her level. Bess Stout held education in high regard, and to that end saw that her children studied at the finest professional schools available to them. She generously and with self-sacrifice saw to the higher education of her grandchildren. Bess Stout always sought to help those friends of hers who were in need.
She enjoyed her years as a resident of Clarewood House in Houston where she had many close friends. The family thanks Dr. Charles Miller, the staff and nurses of Manor Care-Sharpview for the extraordinary kindness and attention to her in the last months of her life.
Graveside services will be held in Beaumont, Texas on Saturday, February 23, 2002, at 2:00 p.m. in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Bolivar Land Fund of the Houston Audubon Society at 440 Wilchester Boulevard, Houston, Texas 77079-7199, would greatly honor her memory.

JAMES S. DWYER
1921-2002
James S. Dwyer, 81, a retired salesman, died Saturday, February 16, 2002, at his home in Rockwall.
Inurnment graveside services are pending at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
James was born February 16, 1921, in New Paris, Ohio and grew up in Indiana. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Mr. Dwyer is survived by his wife of 55 years, Charlene Nibarger Dwyer; sons, Mark Dwyer of Addison and Rex W. Dwyer of Rockwall; daughter, Susan Reynolds of Crowley; four granddaughters; one grandson; numerous nieces and nephews; sister, Juanita Hunt of Cumming, Georgia; and sister-in-law, Martha Dwyer of Richmond, Indiana.

DAYNA LOUISE HUGHES
1956-2002
Dayna Louise Hughes, age 45, of Austin, passed away February 18, 2002, after an illness of several months.
Dayna was born in Fort Worth on August 17, 1956, to Jacqueline and Charles Herndon. She attended Burleson public schools where she was graduated. She resided in Austin for the last fifteen years. She worked for The State of Texas for 15 years, the last ten of which were with the Texas State Lottery.
Dayna was a devoted and loving mother to her two children, Carter, 14, and Jacqueline, 12. She was very close to her family and friends. She was known to all around her to be generous and thoughtful. Dayna had an infectious smile and manner that invited trust and love.
Dayna was preceded in death in 1982 by her mother, Jacqueline Joyce Herndon.
She is survived by her son, Carter Britton Hughes; daughter, Jacqueline Kay Hughes; their father, Britton Hughes, and his parents and Dayna's caregivers, Bob and Kay Hughes; parents, Charles and Pat Herndon; brothers, Elliot (Heidi), David (Noelle) and Nathan (Dawnell); sister Natalie Sciaretta (Kent); and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, February 19 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin.
