Burleson - H.F. ( Stump) Hoaldridge, 91, a retired aircraft worker, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 11 at the Mountain Valley Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Tye Cemetery. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the home of his son, Hank Hoaldridge, 1255 Oak Grove Road South in Burleson, corner of Oak Grove Road and 1187. Mr. Hoaldridge was a God fearing man who loved his family. He graduated in 1931 from Burleson High and served in the Navy under Admiral Nimitz in WWII. Stump worked in the field as a cotton picker for many years. Stump was preceded in death by his wife, Lela Beatrice Massey Hoaldridge; stepson, Jerry Milner; brothers, Pat and Reagan Hoaldridge; and his dog Festus. Burleson - Travis Monroe Strength, 82, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, as well as a retired Bell Helicoptor dispatcher, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2004, at his daughter's home in Rainbow. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 29 in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel of Fort Worth. Burial was at Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation was 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Travis was born to the late Roger and Sally Minshew Strength on December 11, 1921, in Milford. He married Thelma Jewel Ray in Hillsboro on February 22, 1947. He retired from Bell Helicoptor after 25 years' service. Travis enjoyed fishing and hunting. He enjoyed traveling on vacations and to Tank Battalion reunions. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Travis was a member of First Baptist Church of Burleson for over 40 years and a member of Burleson Masonic Lodge. He was a family man in many ways that will be missed greatly by all those that knew and loved him. Travis was one who was always there to help someone in need. He was an inspiration to many. BILLIE DALE MERRYMAN
Billie Dale Merryman was born on September 12, 1935, to Annie Dale and Milford R. Morris in Ben Wheeler, Texas. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Paul L. "Red" Merryman. Together they traveled the world and met many amazing friends. Billie and Red were married 52 years and together raised four loving children. Billie was a longtime resident of Briaroaks, Texas. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. After retirement, Billie and Red wintered in Weslaco, Texas, their second home. They spent many happy hours attending jam sessions, dances and visiting with many new found friends. Billie passed away on May 24, 2004, surrounded by her family. One of her granddaughters expressed the feelings of all when she said, "Nana came into this world as a daughter. She became a sister, a friend, a wife, a mother, an aunt, a grandmother, a great-grandmother. She left us a fighter to become a guardian angel to watch over us all." Billie is survived by Paul L. GAIL BOYD
Mrs. Gail Boyd, 57, formerly of Hillsboro, and a resident of Burleson died Monday, May 17, 2004 in a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 19 at Edens Funeral Home Chapel in Hillsboro. Reverend Al Crane officiated. Burial was at Hillcrest Garden of Memory near Hillsboro. Mrs. Boyd was born October 15, 1946 in Hillsboro, she was the daughter of Betty Guffy. She grew up and attended schools in Hillsboro. She married Dana Boyd on August 1, 1964 in Hillsboro. Gail loved and enjoyed life and was the proud mother of two sons and four grandchildren. She was an avid sports fan, enjoyed movies and music. She was a Baptist. She is survived by her mother, Betty Guffy of Burleson; her husband, Dana Boyd of Burleson; two sons, Kenneth and Kevin Boyd, both of Burleson; one brother, Mickey Lyn Robertson of Dickinson, Texas; and four grandchildren, Billy Trent Boyd, Kelly Michael Boyd, Ashley Nycole Boyd, and Kayla Boyd. Ms. Ora Lee Allen, age 77, of Joshua died Sunday, May 16, 2004, at a Fort Worth hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, May 20 at the Gatesville Funeral Home Chapel. Ms. Allen was born August 7, 1926, to the late Henry and Naomi Brown Hoffman in Hamilton County, Texas. She was raised in Hamilton County and graduated from Evant High School. She was an associate at Foley's Department Store in Fort Worth and managed Radio Shack stores for ten years in Fort Worth. Ms. Allen was a retired appraisal clerk for the Tarrant County Appraisal District. She was an avid country and western fan and enjoyed singing and dancing and traveling. She was a member of the Methodist Church. Ms. Allen was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Elveta Hoherz. L.W. "Bill" Templeton passed away March 28, 2004, in Orange, California. He was born August 18, 1933, in Greeley, Colorado. A memorial service celebrating the life of "Bill" Templeton was held April 1 at the Saddleback Chapel in Tustin, California. Burial followed in the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California. Bill was a loving and devoted family man and active in his church and in community organizations. He was a member of the Orange Coast SDA Church in Irvine, California. He attended Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, and had a distinguished 45 year career in sales and marketing of farm equipment. He proudly served his country during the Korean War. After enjoying two years of retirement bliss, Bill had surgery followed by 2 1/2 years of serious complications. Bill was the son-in-law of Edna and Wayne Schisler of Keene, the brother-in-law of Joan and Jack Jenkins of Burleson, uncle of Louie Speyer, Jr. of Burleson and Joni and John Hopps of Arlington. Clarence Eugene was born to the late Hume D. and Sarah Padgett-Anderson April 17, 1923, in Duffau. He married his late wife, Iris Martin, November 19, 1949. They were married until her death in 1992. He retired from the Texas Department of Transportation after 25 years. He then worked 13 more years for KXAS Channel 5. He was a member of the Cleburne Masonic Lodge, Fort Worth Scottish Rite, First United Methodist Church of Burleson and Johnson County Crime Stoppers. Burial was at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Allison Alan Finstad was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Cleburne, the son of Allison Andrew and Dewey Anderson Finstad. He married Margie Daniels on June 23, 1946, in Cleburne. Alan served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of Burleson Church of Christ. David Lloyd Thomas was the fifth son born to Joseph Eugene Thomas and Margaret Lester Brantley Thomas on May 7, 1935, in Fort Worth. Mr. Thomas was retired from General Dynamics after 40 years. He built a retirement home in Stephenville with his wife Carol and loved being there, surrounded by the beauty of nature. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 1195. He was a man of few words, but the words he did speak were full of experience and wisdom. He was a very intelligent, proud and strong man. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by a daughter, Sheryl Lynn Thomas; parents; and a brother, Waldo. Burleson - Charles S. Simmons, 86, a retired Owner and operator of a local Cab Stand, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2004 at a local hospital. DR. GEORGE LYNN PALMER
1928-2004
Dr. George Lynn Palmer passed away April 18, 2004. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on April 21 at the Pawhuska, Oklahoma cemetery. Mr. Palmer was born on November 17, 1928 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, where he was raised and graduated high school. He served in the U.S. Air Force. After graduating from Central State University in Edmond, Oklahoma, George went to dental school at Baylor University Dental School in Dallas, graduating in 1955. He opened his orthodontics practice in Dallas, later moving it to Burleson where he practiced until he retired. He then moved to Garland where he lived until the time of his death. Throughout his life, George had a love for horses. He raised and showed Appaloosa and Quarter horses for over 30 years. He and his family raised and owned World and National champion Appaloosa horses. He was a member of the ApHA and AQHA and the Texas Appaloosa Horse Club. Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by his father, William N. Palmer; mother, Erma Palmer; and grandson, Drake Bradford. He is survived by his son, George W. Palmer of Dallas; three daughters, Gloria Lynn Palmer Bradford of Rowlett, Texas, Michelle Palmer Aduddell of Stratford, Texas, and Georgia Palmer Cartwright of Benbrook; brother, William Palmer of Morrison, Colorado; three grandchildren, Craig Palmer, Megan Palmer, Jasie Jarvis. BURLESON -- Michael Benedum Hull, 65, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother passed away Saturday, March 27, 2004 at a local hospice. A private graveside service was held with burial at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Mike was born to the late, Loran R. and Ella Late Garrett Hull, October 27, 1938 in Bridgeport, West Virginia. He married Nancy Sue Newbrough on August 17, 1963 in Clarksburg, West Virginia. Mike was a veteran in the US Marine Corps having served in the Far East. His educational credentials include West Virginia University, where he began his studies in Mechanical Engineering. He continued at Ohio State University and graduated from the University of Akron receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Management. He was a lifetime member of the Delta Tau Delta National Fraternity. Mr. Hull was a research technician for Diamond Shamrock and was a member of the Society of Plastics Engineers. He worked as an Assistant Plant Manager for the Vistron Plastex Corporation and as a Technical Supervisor and Electrical Products Manager for Amoco Chemical Corporation. His family relocated to Texas when he was chosen to fill the position of National Product Manager for Robintech Industries in Fort Worth. It was at Can-Tex Industries where he finished his career in the plastics industry. Mike was a member of Crestmont Baptist Church where he served as chairman of the stewardship committee, Sunday school teacher, and deacon. He worked on many committees within the church including the Together We Build Program. He was a member of the Grand Masonic Lodge of West Virginia - Late Masonic Lodge Number 63 of Bridgeport, West Virginia. Mike was an avid golfer, bowler, and enjoyed baseball, and basketball as well. He often portrayed Santa Claus for company Christmas parties. He was known for his benevolence to others and as Grandpa Benny to his grandson, David. Mr. Hull was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Hull; and brother, Harry Hull. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 7. Reverend Jerry Clements of Lane Prairie Baptist Church in Joshua will officiate. Burial will be at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home in Burleson. Vlasta Luck was born September 23, 1909 in DeValls Bluff, Arkansas and was a resident of Joshua since 1952. Vlasta is remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an active member of the Joshua Lions Club known for her fund-raising with pecan pies. Vlasta, known as "GoGo" to family and friends was a world traveler and had visited almost all the countries of the world during a 25 year span. She was preceded in death by her husband, Evanda Luck. The family would like to express their appreciation to the Community Hospice of Cleburne for their care and compassion for our mother and the Joshua Lions Club for their many kindnesses to her. Vlasta is survived by her three children, Dr. Luther Luck and wife, Ginny, of Sebring, Florida, Mrs. Libby Luck Westman and husband, Ray, of Houston, Randall Luck and wife, Gayle, of Joshua; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. BURLESON -- Juanita M. Moore, 85, a retired checker for Bransom's Grocery in Burleson, died Sunday, April 4, 2004 in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 7 at Alsbury Baptist Church in Burleson. Burial will be at Lane Prairie Cemetery in Joshua. Visitation was 6-8 p.m., Tuesday at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Juanita was born July 1, 1918 in Johnson County, the daughter of Silas and Carrie Webster Johnson. She married Bennie Moore on September 6, 1934 in Cleburne. He preceded her in death in 1977. She loved her kids, grandkids, and her church. She will be dearly missed. Juanita is survived by son, James Bennie Moore of Burleson; daughters, Andra Henderson and husband, J.R., of Burleson, Sandra Blassingame and husband, Edward, of Cedar Hill; grandchildren, James Scott Henderson of Burleson, Jody Glen Henderson and wife, Tracey, of Joshua, April Polson and husband, Jeff, of Burleson, Charles Lee Steed III and wife, Kim, of Joshua; great-grandchildren, Kylie and Jacob Henderson, Trena Barnett, Whitney and Nicholas Polson, Blake and Kyle Steed. BURLESON -- Dylan Cole Robinson, 6, a student at Mound Elementary in Burleson, died Saturday, April 3, 2004 at a Fort Worth hospital. Joshua - Robert Edward Williams, 91, a retired pharmacist, died Sunday, April 4, 2004, at his residence. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 8 at Mountain Valley Chapel. No visitation is scheduled. Robert Edward Williams was born January 28, 1913, in New Albany, Indiana, the son of David and Julia Sheppard Williams. He served as a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy from 1941-1945. He was a self-employed pharmacist and retired in 1966. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Stanley Seibenthal. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Mary Williams of Joshua; son, Robert David Williams of Tucson, Arizona; stepsons, David Weatherford and Skip Weatherford, both of Las Vegas; stepdaughter, Sydney Eller and husband, J.D., of Burleson; granddaughter, Kelly Foster and husband, Tommy, of Burleson; great-granddaughters, Mallory Foster and Lydia Weatherford; nephew, Tom Seibenthal of Los Gatos, California; niece, Denise Franklin of Scott's Valley, California.
