Funeral services for Mary McGlothing, 66, of Burleson were held Tuesday, January 16 at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home in Fort Worth. Burial was at Skyvue Cemetery.
Mrs. McGlothing died Saturday, January 13, 2001, at a local hospital.
Mrs. McGlothing was born February 16, 1934, in Little Rock, Arkansas. She graduated valedictorian of her high school class. A devoted wife, mother and friend, she was the keeper of many hearts.
Mrs. McGlothing is survived by her husband of 30 years, Hal McGlothing; daughters, Lisa McGlothing of Fort Worth, Sharon McGlothing of Burleson, Tammy Russell of Harlingen and Leann White of Blanco; son, Guy McGlothing of Burleson; brothers, Jim Boy Rumbach of Hot Springs, Arkansas and Johnny Rumbach of Jacksonville, Florida; sister, Bobbie Tice of Burleson; grandsons, Cameron Russel and Ricky Preston White; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Murdock died Thursday, January 11, 2001, in Keene. She was a homemaker.
She was born February 19, 1920, in Dallas. She lived in Dallas all her life until moving to Keene in 1975. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Mrs. Murdock was preceded in death by daughter, Janice, in 1969.
She is survived by sisters, Louise Speyer and Anna Kent, both of Keene; brother, Carl Struck of Dallas; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for John Lee Perry, 80, of Burleson were held Monday, January 15 at Crosier-Pearson-Mayfield Funeral Home in Cleburne. Kern Porter and Karl Jones officiated. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne.
Mr. Perry died Friday, January 12, 2001, at Vencor Southwest Hospital. He was a retired Car Man with Santa Fe Railroad and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was born August 12, 1920, in Cleburne. Mr. Perry was a member of Central Church of Christ for 60 years and Burleson Church of Christ since March, 2000. He lived in Cleburne for 79 years and Burleson since March, 2000.
Mr. Perry was preceded in death by his mother and father, Edna and Ben A. Perry, and brother, Leonard Perry.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Perry of Burleson; daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and M.G. She was born March 23, 1945. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed.

Graveside services for Marguerite Elene (Ellie) Skinner Price, 69, of Crowley were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10 at Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
Mrs. Price died Sunday, January 7, 2001, at a Fort Worth hospital. She was a retired electronics technician.
She was born January 31, 1931, in Sunset. She was among the first accredited female electronic technicians in the nation and was co-owner of Gene Price Radio and TV in Fort Worth. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6872 Ladies Auxiliary. A cherished wife and devoted mother to her four children, Ellie enjoyed cooking, needlework, cats and laying hens; she performed volunteer work on behalf of a variety of worthy causes.
Mrs. Price was preceded in death by her husband, George E. (Gene) Price in May of 1989.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Edgar Quesnel of Show Low, Arizona; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Brenda Price of Salem, Oregon; and sons, Russ Price of Crowley and John Price of Houston; sister and brother-in-law, Marian and Derwood Johnson of Winter Haven, Florida; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous loving friends.

"Dusty" Edgar W. Bateman III of Burleson passed away Sunday, December 31, 2000. Interment was at the Bateman Ranch Private Cemetery in King County, Texas.
Mr. Bateman was born February 15, 1937. He was a resident of Burleson for 24 years and was employed by Winn-Dixie for 24 years.
He is survived by his wife, Carroll Jean Bateman; two sons, Edgar Wight Bateman IV and Edgar W. Bateman V; daughter, Lacy Bateman; daughter-in-law, Wendy Bateman, all of Burleson; three brothers, James T. Bateman of Denton, Charles G. Jimmy Miller Schisler, 62, of Cleburne passed away Sunday, December 31, 2000, at his home. Burial was January 3 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Cleburne. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
Mr. Schisler was born October 31, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Wayne H. and Mable Schisler. His family lived in Harrah, Oklahoma for many years before moving to Keene to enroll their children in church school.
Mr. Schisler was preceded in death by one son, Gary Schisler.

Mr. Cranford died Wednesday, December 27, 2000, at Huguley Memorial Medical Center. He was a Parts Manager for John Deere Dealership.
He was born September 4, 1909. He was a lifelong resident of Burleson and a member of The First United Methodist Church of Burleson. He married Willa Belle "Mallory" Cranford on March 20, 1939, in Burleson. He worked for the John Deere Dealership in Fort Worth for 45 years.
Mr. Cranford was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Willa Belle Cranford, who passed away December 2, 2000.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack and LaVaun Mallory and Randy and Eileen Cranford, both of Burleson; six grandchildren, Eddie Mallory, Jackie Under-wood, Barbara Porter, Sherrie Isenberg, Darren Cranford and Steve Cranford; eight great-grandchildren; one sister, Lillie Mae Allen; and one niece, Peggy Moore.

Peggy JoAnn Elder, 66, a lifelong resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, December 19, 2000, at Tamarac Retirement Center.
Ms. Elder was born October 1, 1934, in Altus to F.H. (Hoke) and Marie (Watterson) Elder. Her grandparents were Southwest Oklahoma pioneers, settling in Indian Territory in what is now Jackson County, before statehood. She attended Altus Public Schools and graduated from Altus High School with the class of 1952. She was a bookkeeper at the Badger Oil Company in Altus, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a longtime member of the Elm and Hudson Church of Christ. She was a member of the Cancer Support Group, loved sports, played tennis, enjoyed walking and bicycling.
Ms. Elder was preceded in death by her parents, and grandparents, J.R. and Ella Elder and John and Anna Pearl Watterson.
She is survived by one brother, James R. Elder and wife, Carol, of Burleson; one sister, Ella Marie Hinson of Lawton, Oklahoma; one nephew, Russel Hinson and wife, Susan, of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; two nieces, Marla Hinson of Lawton and Valerie Elder Russel and husband, Clate, of Burleson; three great nephews; two great nieces; and numerous relatives and close friends who assisted with her care.

JOHN "JOHNNY" P. EVANS, JR.

Funeral services for John "Johnny" P. Evans, Jr., 53, of Burleson were held Tuesday, January 2 at Laurel Land Memorial Chapel in Fort Worth. Burial was at Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Mr. Evans died Wednesday, December 27, 2000, in Burleson after a courageous battle with Lou Gehrig's disease. He was a mechanic for the U.S. Postal Service.
Mr. Evans was born December 18, 1947. He served honorably in the Marine Corps for nine years and was awarded the Purple Heart during his tour in Vietnam. He also served as a member of the Marine Corps band. After his return home he became a member of the Marine Corps league and VFW Post 6872.
Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Evans.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Evans; daughters, April Evans and Alicia Feazell; father, J. Paul Evans; sister, Carolyn Singleton; stepdaughter, Stacy Roberts; stepsons, Don Hooks and Brandon Whitaker.

OPAL CARTER MANNING

Private graveside services for Opal Carter Manning, 85, of Austin were held at the Texas State Cemetery. Mrs. Manning died December 25, 2000.
She was born Opal Irene Carter on December 8, 1915, in West Plains, Missouri. She was the ninth and youngest child of Anderson and Mary Francis Carter.
After graduation from high school, Mrs. Manning was employed as a legal secretary working for the District Attorney of Howell County, Missouri. While working there she met and married J.W. Longley of Brownwood, Texas. Although the marriage ended in divorce, they remained friends until his death in 1981.
In 1961, she married Rush Manning, a career school teacher who was elected to serve two terms as a member of the Texas House of Representatives from Shelby County, Texas. Their forty-year marriage was filled with happiness, travel, dancing and, most importantly, helping others recover from the ravages of alcoholism. They lived in Burleson until 1997, when they moved to Austin to be closer to their grandchildren.
Mrs. Manning is survived by her husband, Rush Manning; son, Joe K. Longley; three grandchildren, Adam, Bill and Grace Ann Longley, all of Austin.

Mr. Rudolph died Wednesday, December 20, 2000, at his home. He was Parts Manager for Cummins Southern Plains where he worked for 30 years.
He was born September 30, 1943, in Stillwater, Oklahoma. He was a 1962 graduate of Permian High School in Odessa, Texas. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the 1st Battalion, 9th Marine Division of the U.S. Marines.
Mr. Rudolph was a member of First Christian Church of Burleson, an avid drag racing fan and a liver transplant survivor of 11 years. He valued family along with the friendships created with employees and customers.
Mr. Rudolph is survived by his wife of 25 years, Jane Rudolph of Burleson; son, Lyle Rudolph and wife, Monica Vavra, of Houston; daughters, Lynn Quarzenski and husband, Ken Ptak, of Burleson, Patricia White and husband, Tony, of Burleson; grandchildren, Gabrielle Quarzenski, Elijah Rudolph, Brandon Ptak, Elisabeth White, Jacob Rudolph; sisters, Donna Hicks of Odessa, Karen Moody and husband, James, of Burleson; three nieces; three nephews; and three great-nephews.

Funeral services for O.D. Adair, 80, of Burleson were held Sunday, December 17 at Hallmark Baptist Church in Fort Worth. Burial was at Rosemound Cemetery in Commerce next to his wife, Freida.
Mr. Adair died Wednesday, December 13, 2000, at his home in Burleson. He was a retired public school teacher and counselor.
He was born May 10, 1920, to Viola Pearl Weldon and Jesse W. Adair in Lone Oak, Texas, Hunt County, and was one of five children. He attended Miller Grove School and received his Bachelors and Masters Degrees from East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce and had hours toward a Doctorate. O.D. met his wife Freida Glen Pommerening in Commerce walking to Jernigan's Dairy. They were married for 50 years and had one child, Sondra Kay. During World War II Mr. Adair was stationed at Norman, Oklahoma, where he was a Pharmacist's Mate in the Navy.
Mr. Adair and his wife taught in public schools in Ennis, Falfurrias, Big Springs, San Angelo and Fort Worth. He taught wood shop at William James Junior High and mechanical drawing at Polytechnic High School where he helped many students obtain their first job. He also taught drafting at Arlington State College. Later he became a counselor at O.D. Wyatt High School and was honored one year as counselor of the year.
Mr. Adair was a member of Hallmark Baptist Church, a Mason, and had been in Toastmasters. He loved teaching in public school and had kept his LPC license active. He was always interested in learning and improving his skills. He helped organize the Adair Reunion 2000 and was helping to set up the Adair Reunion 2001. Till death he believed in God and embodied a positive attitude in the face of adversity, as witnessed by his friends and family.
Mr. Adair was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and three siblings, Lloyd Adair, J.B. Adair and Arvenia Adair Pickle.
He is survived by one brother, Lewis Adair of Arkansas; daughter, Sondra Kay Adair of Corpus Christi; first cousins, Jessie Adair Hooten of Point, Jewell Watson Goggins and Mary Watson of Sulphur Springs; second cousins, Hazel Adair Owens and Ivan Adair of McKinney, LouGenia Adair DeBord of Greenville, Lillian Watson Kirkpatrick of Hurst; numerous nieces and nephews; and one small faithful canine companion named Tina.

Funeral services for Frank Doty, Jr., 79, of Kennedale, were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 16 at Mountain Valley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was at Emerald Hills Memorial Park in Kennedale. Mr. Doty died Tuesday, December 12, 2000, at Emery J. Lilge Hospice House. He was a retired electrician and was owner and operator of Doty's Barbecue in Burleson.
He was born April 30, 1921, in Cleburne to Thomas Frank Doty, Sr. and Ida Elizabeth Edwards. He married Ruth Aileen Carter on August 27, 1939, in Weatherford. Mr. Doty had been a resident of Kennedale for 23 years. He was a member of Marystown Baptist Church and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 116. He retired in 1984.
Mr. Doty is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth Doty of Kennedale; sons, Richard Doty and wife, Janice, of Florissant, Colorado, Tommy Doty and wife, Karen, of Joshua; daughters, Charlotte Kirkpatrick and husband, William, of Burleson, Helen Rhodes and husband, Virgil, of Joshua, Barbara Yancey and husband, Glenn, of Rendon; brother, Glenn Doty of Cleburne; sisters, Aileen Gorman and Dorothy Gorman, both of Keene; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was born November 16, 1942. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 1965 and served as an elder at the Wooded Hills Burleson Congregation.

Memorial services for James A. (Jim) Gallan, 72, of Burleson will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, December 15 at the American Legion Hall in Burleson.
Mr. Gallan died Thursday, December 7, 2000, in the VA Hospital in Dallas. He was retired from National Can Company. He was a veteran and a member of the American Legion in Burleson.
Mr. Gallen was born in Pennsylvania, but he was a Texan at heart.
He is survived by sons, Jack Gallan and Jimmy Gallan; daughters, Sue Fava, Joyce Styles and Sharon Wolf.
