Fred Oscar Potter was born in Bynum, Texas on November 20, 1931 to Samuel and Ava Orr Potter. Fred passed away at his home in Kaufman on March 29, 2002. He was raised in Hill County and then moved to Dallas. He worked for Central Freight Lines for 35 years. After, he retired Fred moved to Kaufman in 2000. Fred married Doris Davis in Dallas on March 2, 1954, he is survived by his wife: Doris Potter of Kaufman, son: Byron Potter of Grand Prairie, daughter: Andrea Pylant of Kaufman, sisters: Nora Sims of Fritch and Mable Goodman of Hillsboro, grandchildren: Clint, Josh, Nikos and Holly and many other relatives. Funeral services were held Tues. April 2, 2002 at 10:00 am at the Parker-Ashworth Chapel and graveside services were held at 3:00 pm at Cobb Cemetery in Thorton, Texas. David Willis Bell Sr.
David Willis Bell Sr. was born in Athens, Texas on July 19, 1950 to Harry and Bessie Shackelford Bell. He was raised in Mabank and has lived in Kaufman since 1985. David served in the U S Army during the Viet Nam War. He was a life member and past commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Member of the American Legion and past member of the District 30 Honor Guard. On August 20, 1971 he married Sue Simmons in Leesville, Louisiana. David is survived by his wife: Sue Bell of Kaufman, son: David W. Bell Jr. of Florida, daughters: Brenda Williams of Alabama and Diana Roys of Alabama, father: Harry Bell of Scurry, brother: Ricky Bell of Scurry, sister: Lois Seigman of Mabank, seven grandchildren and many other relatives. Funeral services were held Wed. April 10, 2002 at 10:00 AM at the Parker-Ashworth Chapel with Rev. Charlie Weaver officiating and interment in Wilson Chapel Cemetery. Virginia "Jean" Miller
Virginia "Jean" Miller of Kaufman was born June 6, 1927 in Poetry, Texas to David and Pearl Howard. Departed this life peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2002 after a lengthy battle with heart and lung disease, which she fought with fierce strength, determination and grace. Jean was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; she found great joy in bringing her family together to enjoy life and each other. She will be remembered for her stamina and her zeal for life despite all her medical hardships and complications. Husband Ralph O. Clark widowed Jean at the tender age of 23. Jean became a widow in March of 1998 again after 42 years of marriage to Jack L. Miller. Her parents David C. Howard and Pearl Howard, brothers D. C. Howard Jr., Franklin Howard, nephew David Howard also preceded her in death. She is survived by her children Johnny Clark Sr. and wife Sherry of Plant City, Florida, Melva Clark-Smith of Mesquite, Texas, Danny Miller and wife Melaine of Forney, Texas, Debbie Miller-Beadle and husband Kenny of Kaufman, Texas, Sandy Miller of Kaufman, Texas and step-son Ronnie Miller and wife Debbie of Arlington, Texas, 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grand children. Richard Pat Norton
Richard Pat Norton was born in the Warsaw Community on May 5, 1924 to Luther and Jessie Grubbs Norton. Pat passed away in a Dallas hospital on April 8, 2002. He moved to Terrell as a young boy and then moved to Kaufman. Pat served in the U S Army during World War II and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. On March 22, 1946 he married Bobbie Walker in Terrell. Pat was preceded in death by his wife and is survived by his son: Pat D. Norton of Dallas, daughter: Gail Norton of Kaufman, sister: Janet Wallace and her husband Carol of Kaufman, grandchild: Douglas Norton and his wife Tanya of Ferris, great-grandchildren: Dylan Douglas Norton and Taylor Michelle Norton, mother-in-law: Sarah Walker of Forney, brother-in-law: Burrell Walker of Forney. Shirley Wayne Hubbs was born in New Boston, Texas on February 10, 1937 to Willie and Nannie Vaughn Hubbs. He was raised in New Boston and lived in Mesquite for many years. Wayne was a former member of the Blackjack Baptist Church and a member of the House of Bread Family Church. Gatton Lee Andrew High was born in Kaufman on March 22, 2002 to Zachary and Sheron Kent High. Gatton passed away on April 26, 2002 in Kaufman. Frances Hardin
Frances Hardin of Ardmore, Oklahoma passed away in an Ardmore hospital on March 6, 2002. She was born in Scurry, Texas on March 1, 1924 to J. S. and Bula Smith Wyatt. Frances grew up in Scurry and lived in Scurry for many years before moving to Ardmore in 1969. She lived in Waxahachie, Texas from 1985 to 2001 and was a member of Farley Street Baptist Church in Waxahachie. Frances was preceded in death by her sister, Olene Shewmaker and is survived by her Husband: Joe A. Hardin of Ardmore, OK, Daughter: Betty Thomason and her husband Don Ray of Ardmore, OK, Grandsons: Eric Thomason and Nathan Thomason both of Ardmore, Ok and other relatives. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 9, 2002 at 1:00 P.M. at the Parker-Ashworth Chapel with Rev. Truman Rouse officiating and interment will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery in Scurry, TX. Dane Keller Lieblong
Dane Keller Lieblong of Kaufman, Texas passed away at his home on February 28, 2006. Dane was born August 4, 1948 in Conway, Arkansas to Talmadge and Violet Alexander Lieblong. Dane was raised in Conway, Arkansas and later entered the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Ethiopia. After the service Dane moved to Texas where he worked for the Southland Company and Bridgford Foods in Dallas. Dane moved to Kaufman, Texas in 1992 where he was the Commander of the American Legion in Kaufman. Dane married Rebecca Kubic on April 15, 1988 in Dallas, Texas. His father and a step daughter, Jessica Woods preceded him in death and he is survived by his wife: Rebecca of Kaufman, mother: Violet Lieblong of Conway, Arkansas, stepsons: John and James Kubic both of Nashville, Tenn., brother: Alex Lieblong of Conway, Arkansas, sister: Amanda Lee Yarbrough of Jonesboro, Arkansas, seven grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. Memorial services were held Thursday, March 2, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial services were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman. Era Mae “Bobbye” Roberts
Era Mae “Bobbye” Roberts of Paris passed away Saturday Feb. 11 at a Paris Hospital. Graveside services will be Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. in Kaufman Cemetery in Kaufman, Texas. Era was born in High, TX July 29, 1912. Her parents William M. Thrasher and Minnie B. Freeman Thrasher preceded her in death as well as a son Donald E. Roberts and husband Earl Roberts. She managed apartment complexes in the Arlington and Fort Worth area until she retired four years ago and returned to Paris to make her home. She was of the Baptist faith. Survivors are two sisters, Eva DePue and Evylan Hardy of Paris, two grandchildren, Steve Roberts of Fort Worth and his wife Penny, Kimberlee Gushue and her husband Charlie of Arlington and seven great grandchildren, two special nieces, Helen Keeling and Trudye Cooper and her husband Carl. Graveside services are under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman.

Haynes W. Ford
Haynes W. Ford was born in Scurry, Texas on Dec. 20, 1927 to Jesse and Ida Haynes Ford. Haynes passed away in Combine on February 13, 2006. Haynes was raised in Scurry and then in the early fifties he lived in the Rand Community. He moved to Kaufman in 1962 and then to Cedar Creek Lake in 1980. Haynes moved to Combine in 2005. He served a short time in the U S Army during World War II and worked for the U. S. Postal service for twenty-eight years. He was a member of the Cottage Heights Baptist Church in Kaufman. On, January 11, 1947 Haynes married Maud Dell Donawho who in Kaufman, Texas. Haynes was preceded in death by his wife Maud Dell and two children Bonnie Faye and Bobby Ray Ford. He is survived by a daughter: Gale Crow of Combine, sons: Randy Ford and Jeff Ford both of Kaufman, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held February 16, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at Cottage Heights Baptist Church in Kaufman with Rev. Todd Peavy and Rev. Darrill Deaton officiating. Interment followed in Mount Olive Cemetery in Scurry. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman. Willie Victor Janicek
Willie Victor Janicek was born in the Lone Star Community in Kaufman County to Joe and Katherine Jelinek Janicek. Willie passed away at his home in Lone Star on February 21, 2006. Willie grew up in the Lone Star Community. In 1942 he joined the U. S. Army during World War II. On November 9, 1948 Willie married Ruby Trojacek in Ennis, Texas. He worked for the Dallas Housing Authority for ten years and then later worked for Titus Manufacturing in Terrell. Willie retired in 1982. Willie was a member of the SPJST Lodge #110 for fifty-five years and Saint Ann Catholic Church. Willie was preceded in death by his parents and a great grandson Jason Dakota Cryer, sisters Katie Rose, Clara Rychlik, Albina Slavik, Pauline Reynal, Josie Myers, and Frances Hetmer and brothers Joe and Ludvik. Willie is survived by his wife: Ruby of Kaufman, daughters: Pat Smith and her husband Gene and Dolores Jeffries and her husband John, son: Bill Janicek and his wife Carla, grandchildren: Andria Waters, Rebecca Espinosa and her husband Roman, Toni Bardin and her husband Shane, Kimberly McKenzie and her husband Chad, Jeremy Janicek, Lesley Jones and her husband Nick, Karie Jeffries, Stacy Jeffries, Matt Janicek and Michelle Janicek, great-grandchildren: Elizabeth, Zackary, Victor, Alex, Aspen, Avery, Ryann, Jared, Kaitlyn, Shelbie, Christina, Dylan and Brianna. Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, February 24, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Kaufman with interment following in Kaufman Cemetery. SADIE CATHERINE PRATER
Born on August 18, 1915 in the Gossett Community in the Kaufman area to Dock and Ida Whitworth. She was wed to Travis Prater on September 6, 1931. She is preceded in death by her husband, Travis; brothers, Otis, James, and Dock Jr.; daughters, Martha Lee Dickerson and Patsy Louise Prater; son, Hollis “Sonny” Prater; son-in-law, Tom Parry; grandson, Roger Parry and great-great grandson, Cody Parry Sims. She is survived by daughters, Virginia Parry of Mesquite and Diane Prater Dickerson of Kaufman. Sons, Gary Prater and wife, Martha of Terrell, James Prater and wife, Liz of Midlothian and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Prater of Athens. Thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and her very special friend Leroy Mayfield. She was a loving Mother, Mamaw and friend to many as well as a tender foster-mother to numerous children. She was a lifetime member of First Assembly of God Church in Kaufman. On Sunday, February 12, 2006 while surrounded by her family she went to be with her Lord. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 15, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home Chapel with interment following in Kaufman Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Parker-Ashworth Funeral Home of Kaufman.
