JACKSONVILLE - Moline Peebles Garrett, 92, died on April 7, 2003 in Jacksonville. Mrs. Garrett was born in Livingston on Feb. 5, 1911 to Houston Harvey Peebles and Allie Mae Burks Peebles. She was pre-ceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl (C.R.) "Chief" Garrett; brothers, Sam and Carlton and sisters, Louise Ogletree, Aline Branden and Mae Howell Manning. She is survived by nephews, Dr. Bob Peebles of Beaumont, Wayne Howell of Nacogdoches and Carlton "Corky" Peebles and wife Betty of Hamshire; nieces and husbands, Shirley and Bob Brown of Livingston, Joyce and Johnnie Loftin of Livingston, Peggy and Dan Holland of Houston, Bonnie and John Shirley of Mont Belvieu, Sharon Tully of Hamshire, Becky Burlin of Bridge City and Betty and Richard Sheffield of Jacksonville and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 9, from the First Baptist Church in Livingston. Graveside services follow in Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont. Ronald G. Fabian
HUNTSVILLE - A memorial service for Ronald G. Fabian of Huntsville was held Saturday, April 12, 2003, from Life Temple Full Gospel Church, with Pastor Dennis Graham officiating. Mr. Fabian died March 13 in Calgary, Canada. He was born Sept. 4, 1941 in Rockport, the son of Edward W. and Sharah Ellen Fabian. A resident of Huntsville for the past 20 years, he was previously a resident of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He was married on Sept. 1, 1983 in Galveston County. Mr. Fabian was employed by Tri-Ocean Engineering Ltd. Survivors include his wife, Nellie "Kookie" Fabian of Huntsville; son, William A. Fine; Billie Smith; three grandchildren, Megan, Kayla and Bryan Allen; mother-in-law, Nellie Lockhart of Huntsville; sisters-in-law, Betty Dendy of Onalaska and Martha Harris of Huntsville; three sisters, Frances Ewart, Grace Elliott and Charlene Kern, all of Houston; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.

LIVINGSTON - Sandra Annell Battise, 57, of Livingston died Sunday, April 6, 2003, in Memorial Medical Center - Livingston. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 10, at Indian Village Assembly of God Church in Livingston, with Bro. Wayne Landrum and Bro. Rudy Martinez officiating. Burial followed in the Alabama-Coushatta Indian Reservation Cemetery. Mrs. Battise was born April 8, 1945 in Livingston, the daughter of Eva H. Battise. She was preceded in death by her mother and brother, Herman Battise. Dorothy Ransom
FREEPORT - Dorothy Ransom, an area resident for over 50 years, died on Sunday, April 6, 2003, in Livingston. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 9, from Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Brian Kile officiating, as-sisted by Bro. Lee Poe of the First Baptist Church in Livingston. Interment followed in Morton Cemetery in Richmond. Mrs. Ransom grew up in Farmer City, Ill. and moved to live with her mother and stepfather in Houston in 1933. She married E.W. "Sonny" Ransom in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1986. Mrs. Ransom was a member of the American Legion Auxil-iary, past worth matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 220, volunteers at Brazosport Memorial Hospital and was an active member of Gulf Prairie Presbyterian Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Thomas Elliot; sister, Sadie Bauer and grandson, William Walter Smart. She is survived by three children, Pat Gibson and wife Karen of Sturgis, S.D., Jerrie Cervenka and husband Joe of Temple and Mary Smart and husband James of Livingston; and two grandchildren, Dorothy Smart and Karie Smart. LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Andrew Criswell, 48, of Marston, were held Saturday, April 12, 2003, from Livingston Church of God in Christ, with Supt. R.A. Chimney officiating. Interment followed in Kibbiefield Cemetery in Marston. Mr. Criswell died April 4 in Memorial Medical Center - Livingston. He was born Nov. 4, 1954 in Livingston, the son of Albert and Pearly B. Criswell, and attended Livingston public schools. Mr. Criswell was retired from Servers Manufacturing Co. Survivors include his mother, Sister Pearlie B. Criswell of Marston; two sisters, Ina Ruth Kenry and husband Donnie of Spring and Georgia Ann Criswell of Marston; four brothers, Fred McCormick Jr. and wife Joyce of Houston, Marvin Criswell of Marston, James Criswell and wife Perallo of Livingston and Joseph Criswell and wife Tracy of Leggett; uncles and aunts, Joe Nathan Wyatt and wife Marcia of Livingston, Clifton Wyatt Sr. and wife Lula Mae of Marston, Dennis Wyatt and wife Alice of Corrigan, Morgan Wyatt Sr. of Marston, Hazel Johnson of Beaumont and Dorothy Criswell of Coldspring; very spe-cial friend, Eddie Green; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. George Newton Graham
LIVINGSTON - George Newton Graham, 84, died on Wednesday, April 9, 2003, in Livingston. He was born Nov. 11, 1918 in Humble, the son of Samford and Mary Fisher Graham. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Graham was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Stanley and Dede Ecke. Survivors include his wife, Ida Graham of Livingston; four sons, Kenneth Ray Hemmi of Livingston, Aaron Graham of Ona-laska, George N. Graham Jr. of Oklahoma and Norman Graham of Porter; two daughters, Teresa Wedgeworth of Elkhart and Faye Johnson of South Dakota; sister, Ruth Emerson of Onalaska; special grandson, Aaron J. "A.J." Graham Jr. and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 3-8 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Cochran Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 12, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Ted Summers officiating. Burial was Sunday, April 13, in Moulton Catholic Cemetery in Moulton.

LIVINGSTON - Vincent Van Lynn, 85, of Livingston died on Tuesday, March 25, 2003, in Memorial Medical Center - Livingston. Mr. Van Lynn was born on Nov. 28, 1917 in Queens, N.Y., the son of Vincent Herth and Agnes Bittner Herth, who have preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Rogers-Herth of Livingston; three sons, Jeff Herth of Dillsburg, Pa., Chad Herth of Shirley, N.Y. and Greg Herth of Oakdale, N.Y.; two daughters, Shelly Rogers and Tracey Rogers of Houston and nine grandchildren. Cochran Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LIVINGSTON - Rebbie Dee Jahos, 80, of Woodville died on March 25, 2003 in Cleveland. She was born on Feb. 13, 1923 in Security, the daughter of Elige and Alice Jeffcoat. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Thomas Jahos; two sons, George "Bubba" Jahos and Bobby Joe Jahos; one sister and two brothers. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Philip Seabolt of Alvin; daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Jahos of Temple; five grandchildren, Brian Seabolt, Erin Piazza, Trina Dannar, Thomas Jahos and Trenton Jahos; six great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd Jeffcoat of Groveton and sister, Blanch Abernathy of Conroe. Raymond W. Casteel Sr.
JACKSONVILLE - Funeral services for Raymond W. Casteel Sr., 79, of Jacksonville were held Friday, March 28, 2003, from New Emmaus Baptist Church in the New Emmaus community, with the Rev. G.W. McFadden officiating. Burial followed in New Emmaus Cemetery. Mr. Casteel died Tuesday, March 25, in a Tyler hospital. He was born Nov. 9, 1923 in Rusk County. He worked in machine maintenance in the container industry and was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Summerfield. Mr. Casteel served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Syble Casteel of Jacksonville; sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond W. and Betty Casteel Jr. of Humble, Glenn Douglas and Glenda Casteel Sr. of Jacksonville, Gerald D. and Linda Casteel Sr. of Granbury and Richard Lynn and Sherry Casteel of Brandon, Miss.; sisters, Mable Lyles, Frieda Baker and Claudia LaCalle, all of Houston, Leona Dunn of Humble and Pauline Pittman of Shepherd; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Ralph David Street, 58, were held Friday, March 28, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Royce Pennington officiating. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 8568. Mr. Street died Tuesday, March 25, at his residence in Livingston. He was born Oct. 23, 1944 in Tulsa, Okla., the son of Ralph and Davalean Jack Street. He married Eileen Street on July 27, 1991 in Shiloh Springs, Ark. Mr. Street was a member of Blanchard Baptist Church and his employment included Campbell Concrete, Eastex Communications and Southwest Consolidated. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam era. He was preceded in death by his mother, Davalean Jack Street; and uncles, A.W. Street and Leon Street. Survivors include his wife, Eileen Street; father, Ralph Edwin Street of Houston; son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Christy Dowdy of New Caney; son, David Dowdy of Channelview; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Janie Street of Willis and Jack and Debbie Street of Ft. GROESBECK - Funeral services for Pauline Edna Archer of Frankfort, Ohio were held Tuesday, April 1, 2003, from the Church of Christ, with Richard Williams officiating. Burial followed in Old Union Cemetery in Groesbeck. Mrs. Archer died March 25 in Chilicothe, Ohio. She was born May 27, 1919 in Wetumpka, Okla., the daughter of the late Dewitt and Lucy McDaniel Smith. Mrs. Archer attended school in Livingston. She was employed by the Polk County Hospital and Mexia State School. Mrs. Archer was a member of the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester "Dick" Archer, whom she married on Nov. 11, 1947 in Livingston. Survivors include her brother, W.A. Smith of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; children, Catherine Archer of Kihei, Hawaii, Larry and Jane Archer of Frankfort, Ohio and Connie Archer Faires of Livingston; grandchildren, Erin and Andrea Archer of Frankfort, Ohio, Lisa and Tommy Faires of Livingston and Jennifer Faires of Texas City and great-grandchildren, Seth Wallin of Livingston and David Williams of Texas City. Jew Wing and Wai Ten Louie
THE WOODLANDS - Jew Wing Louie and Wai Ten Louie died together on March 25, 2003 in Goodrich. Mr. Louie was born in Canton, China in 1935 and left China at the age of 15 to start a new life in America, in Greenville, Miss. Thereafter, he met his wife in Birmingham, Ala. and then moved to Houston, where he lived for the remainder of his life. In Houston, he owned and operated several convenience stores throughout the area for over 30 years. During his life, he enjoyed spending time with his family and, in retirement, he loved to plant and garden his Asian vegetables as well as tinkering around the house. Also, his most favorite pastime in retirement was cooking and coming up with new recipes. Mrs. Louie was also born in Canton, China in 1937. She and her family escaped from China right before the Communist regime took over and they settled in Birmingham, Ala. Mrs. Louie met Mr. Louie, and the rest is history. Mrs. Louie enjoyed spending time with her family, too. During her life, she loved to go shopping and especially loved going to Las Vegas. She also enjoyed dining out at seafood restaurants (many catfish sacrificed their lives for her). In retirement, she enjoyed the life of leisure and her Chinese soap operas. Mr. and Mrs. Louie were married for over 40 years and have three grown children - Herman, Karen and Elaine. They are survived by one son, Herman Louie; and two daughters, Karen Louie and Elaine Louie-Moreland. Funeral services were held Sunday, March 30, at Forest Park The Woodlands Chapel, with the Rev. Don Kidd officiating. Interment followed in Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery.

Edmond James McMillan
LIVINGSTON - Edmond James McMillan, 87, of Livingston died Friday, March 28, 2003, in a Lufkin hospital. Memorial services were held Sunday, March 30, at Pace Funeral Home. Mr. McMillan, a lifetime area resident, was born on July 25, 1915 in Livingston to parents John and Linnie Collins McMillan. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired from Sam Houston Electric after 35 years of service. Survivors include his companion, Sandy McMillan of Livingston; one daughter, Becky McMillan of Livingston and partner Lori Fielden of Duncanville; brother, Billy Wilkerson and wife Juanita of Houston; sister-in-law, Agnes McMillan; two nieces and three nephews.

Marjorie Helen York
CONROE - Funeral services for Marjorie Helen York, 79, of Conroe were held Tuesday, March 25, 2003, from Cashner Colonial Chapel, with entombment following in Conroe Memorial Park Cemetery Praying Hands Mausoleum. Mrs. York died Saturday, March 22, in Conroe. She was born Dec. 18, 1923 in Toledo, Ohio. Mrs. York served her country during World War II as a yeoman third class in the U.S. Navy. She was stationed at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. and it was there that she met her husband of 52 years, U.S. Navy Lt. C.D. "Chuck" York. Mrs. York was known to have a great love for children and devoted 10 years of her life to Conroe Independent School District as a teacher's aide at Neil Armstrong Elementary School. She was preceded in death by her husband, C.D. "Chuck" York, former superintendent of the Conroe Independent School District. She is survived by one daughter, Daryl Lynn York of Conroe; two sons, Toby York and wife Denise of Spring and Todd York and wife Janet of Corrigan; granddaughter, Ashley York of The Woodlands; and grandsons, Kyle York of Starkville, Miss. and Matt and Miles York of Corrigan. LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Walter Forest Ray, 87, were held Monday, March 31, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Royce Heil officiating. Burial followed in Camp Ruby Cemetery. Mr. Ray died Friday, March 28, at his residence in Franklin. He was born Aug. 14, 1915 in Pineland, the son of James Joseph Ray and Florida Eva Wheeler Ray, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Essie Mae Ray on April 9, 1936 in Livingston. Mr. Ray was a member of White Rock Baptist Church in Bremond. Burial followed in Cleveland Memorial Cemetery in Cleveland. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 8568. Mr. Piles died Monday, March 31, at his residence in Shepherd. He was born March 19, 1951 in Ventura, Calif., the son of Clarence Paul Piles and Lillian Charleene See Piles, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Pamela Piles on Feb. 2, 1991 in LaPorte. Mr. Piles was an Army veteran and a member of VFW Post 1839 in Cleveland. Tony Travis Henry
LIVINGSTON - Graveside services for Tony Travis Henry, 65, of Onalaska were held Wednesday, April 2, 2003, from Magnolia Cemetery in Onalaska, with the Rev. Don Wilkey officiating. Military honors were provided by VFW Post 8568. Mr. Henry died Sunday, March 30, in Memorial Medical Center - Livingston. He was born June 18, 1937 in Troup, the son of John and Erna Sue Burrows Henry. Mr. Henry was a member of the First Baptist Church in Onalaska. He served in the Marines during the Vietnam era. He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Ollie Fay Bland, Johnie Sue Culver and Dannie Louise Peters. Survivors include his daughter, Sabrina Henry of Onalaska; son, Mark Henry of Onalaska; grandson, Michael Dupree of Livingston; sons, Mike Henry and Ricky Henry, both of Arkansas and sister, Ela Love Brett.

Billy Wayne Wiggins
LIVINGSTON - A memorial service for Billy Wayne Wiggins, 55, were held Saturday, April 5, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Harold Isaacs officiating. Mr. Wiggins died peacefully in his sleep Wednesday, March 26, at his residence in Livingston, within a month of being diagnosed with kidney cancer. He was born Feb. 25, 1948 in Waxahachie, the son of Bobby and Emma Curry Wiggins. He married Atrelle Mahan-Wiggins on Nov. 15, 1992 in Pasadena. A truck driver all of his adult life, Mr. Wiggins was the recipient of several truck driving awards, including "Longest Miles with No Accidents or Tickets" and always had his loads delivered on time and in perfect condition. His family said he would have left them with these words, "Keep on trucking." Although he lived his life on the road, his heart always remained at home. He was known as someone who always had a contagious smile on his face. He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Jack Wiggins. Survivors include his wife, Atrelle Mahan-Wiggins of Livingston; son, Jay Austin Mahan of Livingston; daughters and sons-in-law, Billi Atrelle Mahan-Martin and Terry Martin of Clear Lake, and Georgia and Mike Ruston of Round Rock; grandson, Christopher Devane Martin of Clear Lake; granddaughters, Jessica R. Martin of Clear Lake and Megan Ruston of Round Rock; mother, Emma L. Green of Georgia; brothers, Dale Green, Clifton L. Wiggins and Donald R. Wiggins; sister, V. Gayle Scott; brothers, James W. Maurice Wright
LIVINGSTON - Funeral services for Maurice Wright, 74, were held Friday, April 4, 2003, from the Cochran Funeral Home Chapel, with Bro. Joel Salazar and Bro. Randal Whitt officiating. Burial followed in Restland Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Wright died Tuesday, April 1, at his residence in Livingston. He was born July 2, 1928 in Mexia, the son of Edgar Wright Sr. and Belle Zora Matilda Johnson Wright. Mr. Wright was a member of Central Baptist Church in Livingston and the Lions Club of Livingston. He was the Santa Claus at First National Bank for many years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, having attained the rank of Tec. 4. He enlisted on Jan. 8, 1946 in Dallas and was discharged on Oct. 29, 1947 at Camp Stoneman, Calif. He received the Army of Occupation Medal - Japan citation. Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters and one grandson. Survivors include his wife, Lynna Wright of Livingston; daughter and son-in-law, Connie Jeannie and Vernon Pierce of Livingston; daughter, Gwendolyn Kay Miller of Ft. Worth; sons, Warren Maurice Wright Jr. of Sorrento, Fla. and James Craig Wright of Conroe; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edgar Thomas and Betty Wright Jr. of Houston and R.T. Andrew and Jean Wright of Pasadena; sister, Lillie C. Shelton of Premont; sisters and brothers-in-law, Peggy Jeanette and Gene Mooore of Mexia and Elizabeth Ann and Tramel Black of Shreveport, La.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one step-great-grandson. Pallbearers were Paul Kirk Wiggins, Vernon L. Pierce III, Ethan Allen Wright, Scott Wright, Tommy Wright, Jackie Lee Wright, David Wright and Stan Laviolette. Honorary pallbearers were Matthew Wright, Leslie Bailey, Harvey Noel Bailey, Tommy Williams, Troy Moser, Kelley McConnell and Joe Wiggins.
