Anthony Ellis
Anthony Abdo “Tony” Ellis died May 3, 2003 at his home in Azle. Private services will be held in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Mr. Ellis was born June 21, 1925 in Utica, New York to Mary and Abdo Ellis. He grew up there and graduated from Utica Catholic Academy. After serving in the Army during World War II, he graduated from Syracuse University. He was employed by the Air Force at Rome AFB in New York and then was transferred to McClellan AFB in Sacramento, California, where he retired in 1981. He was a member of Ridglea Presbyterian Church, NARFE and a long-time member of BPO Elks. He especially enjoyed card games, chess and bowling. Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his half-brother, Louis Ellis. Survivors include his wife of 18 years, Judy Lynn; stepdaughter, Cathy Steele and husband, Mike; grandchildren, Joshua of L’viv, Ukraine, Jennifer, Jessica, Jonathan, Jeremy and Josiah of Azle; brother, George Ellis and wife, Katherine of Utica; sister, Helen Salerno and husband, John of Utica; and mother-in-law, Ann Workman.

Carol Young
Carol Bock Young, 50, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, in Fort Worth after a long illness. Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Winscott Road Funeral Chapel in Benbrook. Mrs. Young was born Aug. 13, 1952, in Fort Worth. She was a 1970 graduate of Western Hills High School. She attended St. Joseph School of Vocational Nursing in Fort Worth and received her license in 1972. For the last 30 years, Carol held a variety of nursing positions in Texas, California and Virginia. She was a loving, nurturing caregiver and spent the last 10 years of her career working with special needs children and adults. She was known for her wonderful sense of humor and love of music. A member of a close-knit and loving family, Carol always got great joy from family gatherings. Carol was known by many and loved by all. Her parents, Ed and Alice Bock of Mansfield, preceded her in death. Survivors include her daughters, Leigh Ann Young of Azle (and her foster parents, Tracy and Lee) and Caryn Young of Fort Worth; son, Ryan Young of Fort Worth; brother, Joe Bock of Big Sandy; sisters, Arlene Oge of Fort Worth, Mary Higgins of Mansfield and Cindy Bock of Mansfield; grandson, James Ostin (and his adoptive parents, Vernon and Rosemary); and former husband, David Young of Fort Worth. David Glazer
David P. Glazer, 76, died Friday, May 2, 2003 in Springtown. Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 5, in the Chapel at White’s Funeral Home. Burial was in Chevna Mishna Cemetery. Mr. Glazer was born in Revere, Massachusetts to William and Gertrude Goldstein Glazer on March 11, 1927. He had been a resident of Springtown for four years. He was formerly of Everett, Massachusetts. He was employed as a medical EEG technician. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Annette Glazer in 1997. Survivors include his wife of four years, Jeannetta Glazer; daughter, Cindy Joy Glazer of Springtown; stepson, James S. Collins, Jr. of Springtown; and stepdaughter, Judy Lane Snider of Watauga.

Laydee Kuehner
Laydee Kuehner, 58, of Azle, died unexpectedly Sunday, April 27, 2003 in Oklahoma City. Services were held at noon Saturday, May 3, 2003 at Ash Creek Baptist Church. Arrangements were made by White’s Funeral Home Mrs. Kuehner was a longtime resident of North Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pat; parents, “Mer” and “Dukes” Davis; brothers, Higene and Johnny; and daughter, Tina. Survivors include her daughters, Nancy Turnage and Jackie Kuehner; grandchildren, Dillan, Jessica, and Chaz; granddog, Maxx; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Patricia Wall
Patricia “Pat” Wall, 63, a homemaker, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at a hospital. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Alvarado Full Gospel Church. Burial was in Skyvue Memorial Gardens under the direction of Davis Funeral Home. Mrs. Wall was born Dec. 23, 1940, in Noblesville, Indiana. She was an inspiration and pillar of strength to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed. Survivors include her husband, Billy R. Wall of Itasca; sons, Ronnie Joe Myers and wife, Branda of Sheridan, Indiana and David Wayne Myers and wife, Helen of Joshua; daughters, Dianne Anderson of Paradise, Patty Kelley and husband, David of Springtown and Sheila Whited of Huntsville, Alabama; brother, Lloyd Featherston and wife, Frankie of Newark; sisters, JoAnn Kloberdanz and wife, Ronnie of North Richland Hills, Kay Sellers and husband, Billy H. of Itasca, Laverne Peacock and husband, Steve of Burleson and Sue Scholl and husband, Kim of Paradise; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members.

Dorothea Baughman
Dorothea Marie Baughman, 81, a retired legal secretary and much-loved mother and grandmother, died Saturday, May 3, 2003. Services were private. Mrs. Baughman was born in Fort Worth May 19, 1921. Survivors include her daughters, Fieldan Stoner and husband, Everett of Springtown; Janice DelaGarza and husband, Carlos of San Antonio; grandchildren, Tina Abbott, Julie Wilson, Michael Stoner, Carlos DelaGarza, Jonathon DelaGarza, Christopher DelaGarza, Kirk Baughman; and seven great-grandchildren.

Raymond Mitchell
Raymond Lee Mitchell, 73, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at his home. Services were held at 6 p.m. Friday at Lakeside Church of Christ in Mansfield. Memorials may be made to Lakeside Church of Christ. Mr. Mitchell was born Dec. 11, 1929, in Belton to James Floyd and Vera Garner Mitchell. He was an avid sportsman. He was a lifetime member of the Arlington Sportsman’s Club. He dearly loved hunting, fishing, shooting skeet and archery. He also enjoyed swimming and bowling. He really loved watching his granddaughters play softball. He was a Mason and he was also a member of the Lakeside Church of Christ. He lived in the Fort Worth area for 52 years. He and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in August 2002. Survivors include his wife Mary Jo; son, Terry Lee and wife, Kathy, of Burleson; daughter, Karen and husband, Jerry Joe Yeats, of Mansfield; grandson, Nicholas Adam Mitchell and wife, Maggie, and their daughter, Josephine Nicole, of Mansfield; granddaughters, Megan Gail of College Station and Rachel Asley and Emily Jo Yeats of Mansfield; brother, Glenn Mitchell of Fort Worth; and sister, Patricia Gray of Crisfield, Maryland.

Myrtle Davenport
Myrtle Davenport, 86, of Boyd, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, in Fort Worth. Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in White’s Azle Chapel. Burial was in Boyd Cemetery. Mrs. Davenport retired from General Dynamics in 1979. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Myrtle was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, David Davenport, in 1999. Survivors include her son, Benny Davenport of Boyd; daughters, Mae Dean Reed and husband, Tommy, of Laguna Park and Lalene Cleary and husband, Benloyd, of Boyd; granddaughters, Pam Cleary, Karen Clark and Sherry Schmedt; four sisters; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ann Jackson
Ann Eubanks Jackson, 83, of Kansas, died Wednesday, April 30, 2003. She was formerly of Fort Worth and Azle. Services were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Her daughter-in-law, Chaplain Mary Jackson, will officiate. Mrs. Jackson was born in Burleson on June 3, 1919, the daughter of J.E. and Emmaline Melinda Pinyon Eubanks. She married W.O. Jackson, who preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1995. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Estep and husband, Richard, of Hurst, Linda Raborn and husband, Westley, of Forney; son, Wayne O. Jackson and wife, Mary, of Lansing, Kansas; grandchildren, Lisa Stillman of New York, Emily Edgar of Mesquite, Terry Cockerham, Hope Jackson and Brian Jackson, both of Kansas City, Missouri; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Stillman, Austin Edgar, Clayton Edgar and Megan Edgar.

Marjorie Nilsson
Marjorie Elizabeth Rose Nilsson, 93, of San Angelo, died April 26, 2003 at her home after an extended illness. Services were held at 3:30 p.m., April 28, at First Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Fairmount Cemetery. Mrs. Nilsson was born May 6, 1909 in Wapokenata, Ohio as one of seven children of Joseph E. Rose and Leanora Zink Rose. She spent her childhood in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She married Lawson E. (Swede) Nilsson on June 6, 1927. They were together for 64 years. The couple lived in Muskogee, Hobbs, New Mexico and Odessa prior to moving to San Angelo in 1950 where Mr. Nilsson was in the oil business. She often described herself as “just a homemaker,” but perfected the art of making people welcome in her home, at her table and in her heart. She was Mamaw to her grandchildren and eventually to dozens of friends of all ages who sought out her delightfully innocent humor, her simple but powerful wisdom, and her intense interest in those she loved. She was a Sunday school teacher and very active member of First Presbyterian Church. For 46 years she prepared the bread and juice used as Sacraments of the Lord’s Supper for every Communion served. The church had a silver chalice handcrafted for her which she wore with pride. She was active in her children’s and grandchildren’s schools. In later years she was a volunteer at San Angelo State School and at West Texas Rehabilitation Center. Survivors include her children, Pat Attebery and Joe Hurd of San Angelo, Ned Nilsson and wife, Trudy, of Canyon Lake and Bill Nilsson and wife, Virginia, of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren, Marjorie Marjie Shirey of San Angelo, Mark Attebery and wife, Susan, of Azle, Paul and Todd Nilsson of Canyon Lake, Noel Nilsson, Kyla Benavides and husband, Roger, Krista Westby and husband, Jim, Keith Nilsson, Karma Nilsson and Chris Steves, all of San Antonio and Freddy Hurd and wife, Monika, of Germany; six great-grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Wilkinson of San Antonio and Carl Rose and wife, Dolly, of Ashland, Wisconsin. Memorials may be made to Hospice of San Angelo or West Texas Rehabilitation Center.

LaVerne Sellers
LaVerne Sellers, 83, a long time Azle resident, died early Friday morning, May 2, 2003 in a Fort Worth hospital. Arrangements were made by White’s Funeral Home. Mrs. Sellers was a very loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Survivors include her sons, Jim Lloyd of Azle, Charles Lloyd and wife, Violet of Richland, Washington; daughters, Carole Coggins and husband, Gerald of Watauga, Linda Ramey of Azle; grandsons, Eric and David Farson of Azle, Scott Farson of McKinney; granddaughters, Laura Hillgrin, Lasunda Muse, Cheryl Vines of Washington; and 10 great-grandchildren.

John Crable
John “J.V.” Crable, 83, died Sunday, April 27, 2003, at a Weatherford care center. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial was in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park under the direction of Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Mr. Crable was born on Feb. 15, 1920, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and was retired from General Dynamics. Survivors include his daughters, Sue Withers and husband, Larry, of Bedford and Sarah Ann Cox of Mansfield; son, Virgil “Butch” Crable of Springtown; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Billy Nickell
Billy E. Nickell, 57, a police officer, died Saturday, April 26, 2003, at a Fort Worth hospital. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Mr. Nickell was born Nov. 23, 1945, in Cleburne. He was a longtime Fort Worth resident. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a peace officer for the Westover Hills Police Department and had worked for various police departments in the Metroplex for the last 25 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Knox Nickell. Survivors include his mother, Juanita Nickell of Fort Worth; brother, Michael Nickell of Azle; sister, Marianne Nickell of Fort Worth; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Georgia Terry
Georgia Terry, 101, a homemaker, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, in Fort Worth. Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel. Burial was in Shannon Rose Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Terry was born Oct. 20, 1901, in Waco. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was dedicated to her family and loved spending time with them. She was preceded in death by her husband, John D. Terry; son, John Terry, Jr.; three sisters; and one brother. Survivors include her daughter, Georgia Eddings and husband, Wallace of Rendon; sisters, Lena Senter of Dallas, Ola Manville of Houston and Eddie Lou Coulter of Houston; grandchildren, Robert Terry of Fort Worth, David Terry of Natchitoches, Louisiana, Susan Pena of Azle, Steven Eddings of Fort Worth and Cheryl Wilson of Keller; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two nephews; and one niece.

Billy Allcock, Sr.
Billy Ray Allcock, Sr., 65, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at a Fort Worth hospital. Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Mount Olivet Chapel. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Pallbearers were Steve, Stevie, Keith and Aaron Parker, Harold Allcock, Jr. and Joe Allcock, Jr. Mr. Allcock was born Jan. 14, 1938, in Snyder. He was a longtime Fort Worth resident and was a retired maintenance worker for Petro Chemicals in Fort Worth. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. Although he will be deeply missed, he will never be forgotten. Billy touched the lives of everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his only son, Billy R. Allcock, Jr.; mother, Josie Robbins Allcock; father, Martin Denver Allcock; sisters, Edna Mable Allcock, Bertha Oleta Allcock and Juanita Lois Allcock; brothers, Eldred Ira Allcock, Odrey Allen Allcock, James Ezra Allcock, Harvey Preston Allcock and William Edgar Allcock. Ruth Holbrook
Ruth Alvis Holbrook, 80, a loving wife and mother, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, in Fort Worth. She was from Azle. Cryptside services were held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Mausoleum at Azleland. Arrangements were made by White’s Azle Funeral Home. Mrs. Holbrook was born Nov. 2, 1922, in Desdemona to the late John J. and Edna Case Alvis. She was a longtime resident of Azle. Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Henry L. Holbrook of Azle; daughters, Barbara Hollinsworth of Saginaw, Aileen Frantz and husband, Felton, of Arlington, Cindi Reznicek and husband, Larry, of Arlington; brother, Walter Alvis and wife, Joyce, of Boyd; sister, Joan Nelson and husband, Robert, of New Jersey; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Avrey Anderson
Avrey Bennet Anderson, an infant, died Sunday, July 20, 2003. Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington. Avrey was born April 11, 2003 in Fort Worth. Survivors include Avrey’s father and mother, Christian Anderson and Christina Sorenson, both of Hurst; brothers, Jacob Sorenson, Joseph Sorenson and Ethan Sorenson, all of Hurst; grandparents, Connie Stauffer-Embras of Dallas, Merv Stauffer of Springtown, Susan Driscoll of North Richland Hills and Rodney Anderson of Hurst; aunt, Harley Driscoll of North Richland Hills; and cousins, Christina M. Stauffer and Cameron L. Stauffer, both of Dallas.

Rudolph Williams
Rudolph A. “Doc” Williams, 78, died Friday, July 18, 2003. Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Mr. Williams was born Dec. 12, 1924, in Finley, Oklahoma. He was one of three children born to Joseph and Cora Bell Williams. His family was rooted in the rural community and all were good country people. He worked his whole life as a masonry contractor in the Lewisville area. He retired in about 1989 and enjoyed painting in his retirement years. Survivors include his niece, Patricia “Patty” Shanks of Fort Worth; nephew, Mikel Ray Williams of Springtown; sister-in-law, Melva May Williams.

Eva Brown
Eva Louise Brown, 78, a homemaker, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, in Fort Worth. Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Community Church in Springtown. Burial was in Pritchet, Colorado. Mrs. Brown, greatly beloved by her family and friends, will be remembered for her compassion and correspondence to them. Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Ray Brown; children, Mark Hainey and Harriette Chavez and their father, Frank Hainey; sisters, Donna Geiger, Katherine Owen, Willie Stanford; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Henry Norwood
Henry E. “Gene” Norwood, 72, a retired repairman for Southwestern Bell, died Thursday, July 17, 2003. Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Nowlin Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in De Leon Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Zelma Norwood of De Leon; sons, David Norwood of Baird, Bill Norwood of Haslet and Perry McNair of Springtown; daughters, Patsy Fisher of Hurst, Terry Lopez of North Richland Hills and Karen Norwood of Bedford; brothers, Sherrill Norwood of Beaumont and Gerald Norwood of Georgetown; sisters, Charlotte Salzman and Nova Langner, both of Pipe Creek; 18 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Freddie Lane
Freddie Joe Lane, 64, died Wednesday, July 9, 2003 in Springtown. Services were held at 10 a.m., Monday, July 14, at White’s Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Springtown Cemetery. Mr. Lane was born in Vernon on August 31, 1938. He was a resident of Springtown. His family and grandchildren were the love of his life. Survivors include his wife, Lurlene Lane; sons, Robert Lane and wife, Pam of Richmond, Virginia, Gary Lane and wife, Peggy of Keller, Billy Lane and wife, Lynne of Watauga, Tommy Lane and wife, Sandy of Azle; daughter, Cindy Lane of Springtown; brothers, Jerry Lane and wife, Edna of Odessa, Alton Lane of Vernon; sisters, Virginia Turkett, Barbara Duncan and husband, Eddie, both of Vernon; ten grandchildren; and many friends and acquaintances.
