Joseph McCampbell Snow, Sr.
Joseph McCampbell Snow, Sr., 81, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2003 in Wake Forest, NC after a lengthy illness.
A memorial service was held Friday, October 17 at 11 a.m. in the Bright Funeral Home Chapel in Wake Forest, NC. Graveside services were held on Sunday, October 19 at 2 p.m. in the Seaman Cemetery in Chester. Officiating was his son, Joseph M. Snow, Jr.
Mr. Snow was born in Corpus Christi, and grew up in Beaumont. He graduated from Texas A & M University and saw action in both the Korean War and World War II in the Corps of Engineers. Lt. Snow was responsible for distributing D-Day landing orders to US troops leaving England for the invasion. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries incurred during the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Snow served as Director of Board Certified Safety Engineers from 1969-1976. He was active in the Baptist Church, serving as a Deacon in both Casa View Baptist Church in Dallas, and Columbia Baptist Church in Falls Church, VA.
After he retired in 1985 from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration in Washington, D. C., he moved to Wake Forest, NC where he was active in the Young at Heart Club, the VFW, the Masons and Wake Crossroads Baptist Church. In 1995, he served as Commander of VFW Post 8466 in Wake Forest, NC.
Mr. Snow is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ivy Dell Seamans Snow of Wake Forest, NC.; daughter, Janet Monteith and husband, Dick of Wake Forest, NC; son, Joseph M. Snow, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Colleyville; six grandchildren, Kathy Otten and husband, Bill of Wake Forest, NC, Dr. Theresa Johnson and husband, Michael of Asheville, NC, Andrew Monteith of Charlotte, NC., Jennifer Snow, Brian Snow and Jason Snow all of Colleyville; one great grandson, Matthew Otten of Wake Forest, NC; and one sister, Gertrude Walling of Beaumont.
Local services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
Rufus John McBride
In loving memory of Rufus J. McBride. Born May 30, 1922 in Edgerly, LA. and baptized in Edgerly. Father Hardy presided over Rufus' First Communion at the age of 6 years in Nederland. He was a long time member of Holy Name and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Churches in Houston.
He was predeceased by parents, Elish and Elizabeth McBride and his beautiful wife and mother of his children, Gertrude Foyt McBride.
Rufus proudly served his country in World War II, Army Air Corps, serving in the CBI, China Burma and India. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2917. He retired from J. Weingarten, Inc. after 42 years of loyal service. He was a wonderful husband and a good and loving father to his four sons and grandchildren. A kind and generous friend and neighbor to all who knew him.
Survivors include; loving wife, Evelyn King McBride; adored sons and wives, Charles McBride and wife Linda, Rufus McBride and wife Lura, Thomas McBride, and Robert McBride and wife Barbara; grandchildren, Tina McBride Noa, Jennifer McBride, Kimberley McBride, Sean Michael McBride, Kimberley and Kelly Koonce; great granddaughter, Callan Koonce; numerous other relatives and friends.
A special "Thank You" to the Staff of Conroe Regional Medical Center.
Visitation on Sunday beginning at 5 and a rosary at 7 p.m. at Klein Funeral Home, Tomball. A funeral service will be celebrated on Monday at 2 p. m. at Klein Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 4 p.m. at Holy Cross Cemetery in Houston. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Crown of Texas Hospice in Conroe.
Mary Evelyn Ling
Mary Evelyn Ling, 90, of Colmesneil, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2003 at her residence.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. in Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Colmesneil Cemetery. Officiating was Reverend Tyra Rich. Serving as pallbearers were Tony Coslett, David Fawcett, Jimmy Goff, Adam LeWin, Eric Miculka and Andy Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Jimmie LeWin and Kenneth LeWin.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, Oct. 15 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mary was born February 3, 1913 to Euclid Madison and Mary Katherine Douglas Earnest in Austin. She was a former longtime resident of Beaumont and had attended Sabine Tabernacle in the 1930's and 40's. She moved to Sour Lake and Rusk before moving to Colmesneil in 1970 where she attended Colmesneil Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Moses Ling; brothers, Carl Earnest and Clyde Earnest; sisters, Susie Mooney, Myrtle Webb and Elizabeth Dunsmore; granddaughters, Lynette Moncrief and Virginia Peavy. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Clarence Ray and wife Peggy Moore and Bobby Leroy and wife Skip all of Beaumont and Louis Trephley and wife Lavetta Fawcett of Mesquite; daughters and sons-in-law, Ollie June Moore of San Antonio, Marilyn Fay and husband Jimmie Lewing of Yoakum, Mary Dean and husband Gary Walker of Troup and Evelyn Jean and husband Willis Nelson of Colmesneil; stepdaughter, Berna Dean Graham of Bolivar; 20 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Jessie Marie King
Jessie Marie King, 77, of Woodville, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2003 at Hermann Memorial Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville. Officiating was Dr. Raymond A. Parker and Dr. Dwayne Freese. Serving as pallbearers were Wes Ault, Jr., Albin Allen Comeaux, Steve Evans, Gary Hennigan, Guy Allen King and Maxie Young. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. Gayle Burton, Bennett Hanna, Grady Holderman, J. H. Kenesson, Sr. and Lionel Reese.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Oct. 16 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Marie was born August 7, 1926 to Leland Howard and Alvina Margaret Bryan Johnson in Robstown. She was a longtime resident of Woodville and was retired from the Woodville Independent School District as bookkeeper. She was a 50 year member of the Woodville Chapter #462 Order of the Eastern Star and member of First Baptist Church of Woodville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. C. "Buddy" King on Feb. 27, 1975. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Butch Lewis of Woodville and Peggy and Kenny Smith of Woodstock, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy and Becky King of Waco; grandchildren, Jason Voth, Jeffrey Voth, Clay King, Jenny King, Jessica Smith, Christopher Smith and Jonathan Smith; and great grandchildren, Luke Voth, Haleigh Voth and Alec Voth.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
Helen Craine Morgan
Woodville-- A graveside service was held October 17, 2003 at 1:30 p.m. at Shady Grove Cemetery near Woodville, under the direction of Riley Funeral Home in Woodville with Brother Dick Postel Waite officiating.
Mrs. Morgan passed away Oct. 14, at Dogwood Trails Manor Nursing Home in Woodville.
She was born Sept. 28, 1919 in Leachville, Arkansas to William and Viola Engrim Tatum. She lived in Woodville for 25 years and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her sons, Dwayne Craine of Woodville, Alton Crain and Calvin Craine both of Dallas and Thomas Craine of Illinois; daughters, Louise Willis of Woodville, Alfreda Bryant of Dallas and Scharlott Fox of Dewitt, Arkansas; sister, Hazel Lack of Buffalo; brother, Willard Tatum of Indianapolis, Indiana; numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Services were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Billy Hampton Williams
Colmesneil-- Billy Hampton Williams, 62, of Colmesneil, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Oct. 16, 2003 at Odessa Medical Center in Odessa. Billy lived in Colmesneil since early childhood. He was a graduate of Colmesneil High School and an U. S. Army Veteran. He was known across America as a professional truck driver and was self-employed, driving for Swift Transportation at the time of his death.
Billy is survived by his friend and wife of 37 years, Lynda Davis Williams of Colmesneil; two sons and daughters-in-law, Todd and Teri Williams of Madisonville, and Michael and Shannon Williams of Woodville; three grandchildren, Hunter Williams, Isabelle Williams and Beau Burleson; his mother, Venice Williams of Jasper; two sisters, Gail Allen of Venus, and Virginia Owens of Colmesneil; one brother, Randy Williams of Quitman, MS and a host of friends and relatives.
He is preceded in death by his father, Allen Williams of Warren and a brother, Bruce Williams of Needville.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. at the Riley Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Colmesneil City Cemetery. Visitation was held Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers were Kenneth Davis, Jared Davis, Jeff Spradling, Dennis Moffett, Jim Smith, Richard Davis, Tommy Ogden, and Andy Dean.
Services were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Carroll Jackson Yancey
Woodville-- Funeral service for Carroll Yancey, 75, were held Oct. 18, 2003 at 10 a.m. at New Shiloh Baptist Church in Woodville under the direction of Riley Funeral Home in Woodville with Brother Luis Tubbs and Brother John Spanhanks officiating.
Burial followed at Camp Ground Cemetery with American Legion Argone Post #299 of Woodville presenting the flag to the family.
Mr. Yancey passed away Oct. 16, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont.
He was born Feb. 1, 1928 in Arkansas to Halley and Bertha Yancey. He was a longtime resident of Woodville. He was a retired millwright and Korean Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Argone Post #299.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bob Yancey. He is survived by his wife, Melva Lois Dickey Yancey; daughter, Donna Sue Black of Orange; sons, Jackie Wayne Yancey of Lonoke, Ark. and Jerry Lee Yancey and Carroll Lloyd Yancey both of Woodville; step mother, Louise Yancey; sisters, Virginia Walker, Marilyn Runyon, Elaine Bible, Martha Tucker and Linda Hendreckson all of Arkansas; brothers, O. A. Yancey, Richard Yancey, Bill Yancey and James Yancey all of Arkansas; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Pallbearers were George Crowson, James Harmon, Ronnie Wood, Jason Shirley and Roy James. Honorary pallbearers were Graylen Crowson, Louis Crowson, and Freddy Zlomke.

Jennifer Gail Derouen, 25, of Woodville, passed away Friday, October 24, 2003 at Hermann Memorial Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. Officiating was Father Egidio Vecchio and Dr. Dwayne Freese. Serving as pallbearers were Patrick Derouen, Ralph Derouen, Phil Derouen, Rodney Derouen, Jr., Michael Derouen and Scott Derouen. Visitation was held on Saturday, Oct. 25 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Jennifer was born Feb. 7, 1978 in San Antonio. She was a longtime resident of Woodville. Nell Crosby
Nell Crosby, 94, of Woodville, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at Dogwood Trails Manor Nursing Home in Woodville. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 25 at Fairview Baptist Church with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Officiating was Reverend Doyle Butcher and Reverend John Spanhanks. Serving as pallbearers were David Hamm, Urban Hamm, Lynwood Hamm, Johnny Horton, Derek Crozier and Trey Olsen. Visitation was held on Friday, Oct. 24 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Nell was born March 31, 1909 to Neham Edward and Sarah Cammilla Alexander Hamm in Van Zandt County. She was a former resident of Beaumont and was a longtime resident of Woodville. She had worked as a dietician at Tyler County Hospital many years and was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Carol Fisher of Sour Lake and James Elliott of Town Bluff; brothers, Jack Hamm and Leonard Hamm both of Town Bluff; granddaughters, Pamela Fisher of Beaumont and Debbie Collard of Houston; and great grandchild, Trevor Collard of Houston. Jack C. Best
Jack C. Best, 92, of Woodville, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003 at Dogwood Trails Manor in Woodville. Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Woodville with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Woodville. Officiating was Dr. Dwayne Freese and Dr. Raymond A. Parker. Serving as pallbearers were Lyman Perimon, Perry Best, Stephen Farrid, Keith Carl, Kevin Carl and Calvin Wheat. Visitation was held on Wednesday, Oct. 22 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Jack was born April 27, 1911 to Charley Richard and Nancy Ann McDonald Best in Woodville. He was a former longtime resident of Pt. Arthur and had lived in Woodville for the past 28 years. He was retired from Texacoas a lab technician and was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodville. He was preceded in death by his wife Nobie Okun Best. He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Lester Best of Woodville and Jack A. and Gloria Best of Nederland; granddaughters, Kerri Landy, Jennifer Manning and Mandy Moore; and four great granddaughters. Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
Harold L. Seamans
Harold L. Seamans, 87, of Groesbeck, passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003 in Mexia at Parkview Regional Hospital. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 28, in the First United Methodist Church of Groesbeck with Dr. Robert Herzig officiating. Burial followed in the Gunter Cemetery. Mr. Seamans was born Jan. 15, 1916 in Chester, to Ross and Edna (Hughes) Seamans. He married Billie Bob Gunter on July 2, 1939 in Jacksonville. He served his country in WWII in the Navy as a pilot and a pilot instructor. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Groesbeck. Harold was a long time rancher in Limestone County and was known as an entrepreneur. He owned several businesses throughout his life such as a Locker Plant in Victoria, a Dairy in Riesel, an Auction Barn in Franklin, and was a Petroleum Engineer in which he traveled all around the United States and Canada. He was one of the first Charolais Breeders in Texas, and was on the first board in Limestone County that built the airport. He also loved the outdoors and liked hunting and fishing. His love for planes has been a life long adventure until recently when he sold his plane. Harold loved the Lord and wanted everyone to know the Lord as their personal Savior. Preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Ella Mae Davis. Survivors include his wife, Billie Bob Seamans of Groesbeck; three daughters, Paula Adkins and husband James of Austin, Kathleen Moore of Groesbeck, and Louise Jackson of Kosse; six grandchildren, Angela Adkins Ablassi of Houston, Mark Alan Adkins of Los Angeles, Ca., Christopher Clemons of Dallas, Robert Clemons of Lagos, Nigeria, Clayton Moore of Groesbeck, and Leanne Wooten of San Angelo; three great grandchildren, Brennen Wooten and Aaron Wooten of San Angelo, and Chloe Rebecca Clemons of Lagos, Nigeria; two brothers, Lynn Seamans of Baytown, and Earnest Seamans of Colmesneil; seven nephews, seven nieces and numerous other relatives. Services were under the direction of Groesbeck Funeral Home.
Thomas Levi Baggett
Mr. Thomas Levi Baggett, 74, of Spurger, passed away, Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003 at Jasper Memorial Hospital. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25 at Mangum Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at Old Salem Cemetery in Center with Bro. Robert McClelland officiating. Visitation was held Friday, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home. He was born, June 4, 1929 in San Augustine County to parents, Thomas Jefferson Baggett and Alpha Lillian Warr Baggett who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jo Baggett who passed away July 4, 2003 and 1 brother, Rufus J. Baggett and 1 sister, Nancy L. Spann. He was of the Baptist faith. He is a retired from Phalen Tank where he was a boiler maker. He is survived by 4 children, Linda Graffagnino of Plano, Brenda Hicks of Vidor, Debbie LeBlanc and husband, Joel of Stafford and George T. Born February 9, 1931 in Madison County, he lived in Wildwood for five years. He was retired from Hoelscher Weather Strip Manufacturing and was the owner of the Wildwood Cafe. He was a Veteran of the Army Air Corp. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife, Curtis O. (Lightening) Harrington. He is survived by his daughters, Pam Simcomb and husband, Gordon of Dubois, ID and Penny Muncey and Fred Schultz of Pasadena; sons, Sammy Harrington and Kerry Harrington both of Wildwood; brother, James Harrington of Houston; sister, Ella Mae Louque of Paulina, LA; grandchildren, Trey Simcomb of Dubois, ID, Samantha Harrington of Wildwood, Ben Harrington of Tampa, FL., Josh Muncey of Pasadena, Sarah Harrington of Spring; two great grandchildren of Idaho; son-in-law, Virgil Muncey of Tampa, FL. A graveside service was held at 3 p.m. at Ten Mile Cemetery in Madisonville. Visitation was held Sunday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers were Steve Bettenfield, Glynn Brown, Kyle Brown, Clay Jones, Donald Harrington and Mike Harrington. Services were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Lorene Carrell Overstreet
Village Mills-- Lorene Carrell Overstreet, 85, passed away Oct. 24, 2003 at the Dogwood Trails Manor Nursing Home in Woodville. Born June 15, 1918 in Warren, to John and Nancy Evans Foxworth, she lived in Tyler County all of her life. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her daughters, Kathy Stewart of Warren; sons, James Ed Carrell of Sour Lake and C. D. Carrell of Beaumont; sister, Frances Alexander of Nederland; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. A graveside service was held Monday, Oct. 27, at 2 p.m. at Fellowship Cemetery in Warren with Bro. Woodrow Wilson officiating. Visitation was held Sunday evening at the funeral home. Services were under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Alton Harry John, Sr.
Woodville-- Alton Harry John, Sr., 77, passed away Oct. 24, 2003 at the Tyler County Hospital. Born Sept. 19, 1926 in Shermann, to Robert and Josephine Williams John, he lived in Tyler County for many years. He was a retired Chemical Engineer for Brown and Root and a World War II and Korean Navy Veteran. He is survived by his sons, Robert E. John of San Diego, CA., James K. John of Philadelphia, PA., and John L. John of Cypress; daughter, Vivecca A. Hartman of Houston; brothers, Connor John of Commerce, and Preston John of PA; five grandchildren; and a Special friend Allan Barr. Cremation services were handled under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.

Frank S. Thomas, 75, of Woodville, passed away Oct. 28, 2003 at Tyler County Hospital. Services are pending at Riley Funeral Home.
Willie Mae Hancock
Mrs. Willie Mae Hancock, 75, of Kountze, died Saturday, Oct. 25, 2003 at Doctors Hospital in Groves. Services were held Saturday, Nov. 1, at 11 a.m. at the Greater Mt. Corinth Missionary Baptist Church in Kountze with burial at the Trinity Valley District Cemetery in Kountze. Reverend C. L. Cooper officiated.
She was a native of Vinton, LA. for a number of years before moving to Kountze.
Mrs. Hancock is survived by her daughters, Ruby Jean Harrington of Santa Ana, Cal., and Pamela (Joseph) Orsot of Kountze; sons, Anthony Adams, David (Carol) Hancock both of Kountze, Fredrick (Crystal) Hancock of Stafford, Michael (Patricia) Hancock of Silsbee, Robert (Lawanda) Hancock of Beaumont, and Marshall Hancock of Richmond; sister, Edna Mae Allen of Kountze and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Billy Ray Carty
Billy Ray Carty, 54, of Colmesneil, passed away Nov. 1, 2003 at Lufkin Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Davis Cemetery in Colmesneil with Brother Durl Patrick and Brother Jack Lewellen officiating. Visitation was held Tuesday morning at Riley Funeral Home.
Born Oct. 20, 1949 in Jasper, to J. C. and Evie Graham Carty, he lived in Tyler County for five years.
Mr. Carty is survived by his mother, Evie Maples of Colmesneil; sons, Billy Carty and wife, Peggy of Tomball and Brandon Carty of Tomball; granddaughters, Haley and Jaymi Carty of Tomball; sister, Peggy Rice and husband, Charles of Colmesneil; nephews, Jimmy Rice and wife, Rhonda of Colmesneil, Raymond Rice and wife, Michelle of Magnolia; great nieces, Jessie and Dana Rice.

Frank Selden Thomas
Frank Selden Thomas, 75, of Woodville, passed away Oct. 28, 2003 at the Tyler County Hospital.
A native of San Benito, he lived in Houston before moving to Woodville and Warren where he has lived for many years. He was a self-employed master electrician and World War II Army Air Force Veteran.
He is survived by his wife, Mary McManus Thomas; children, Allan Thomas of Waveland, Miss., Darlene Thomas of Santa Fe, Merry Thomas of Dillion, Montana, Ashley Thomas of Channelview; stepchildren, David Gregory of Wildwood, Rhonda Hardin and Peggy Hardee both of the Austin area; adopted child by love, Sunni O'Conner and Michael of Hempstead; brother, Fred Worth of Brookhaven, Miss.; mother-in-law, Peggy Reeves of Lockhart; numerous grandchildren and other family members and friends.
Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Thomas and Merry Thomas; children, Susan, David and Frankie, Jr. and two grandchildren.

Mr. Thomas did much volunteer work with the local Veterans and had a heart of gold. He joins many friends and colleagues today in celebration of his new form of spiritual life. We just hope Heaven's ready for you Paw Paw Frank! One, two, three my turn!

Mildred Gatlin Williams
Mildred Gatlin Williams, 80, of Woodville, passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003 at Memorial Health System in Lufkin.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Woodville with burial in Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville. Officiating is Dr. Raymond A. Parker and Dr. Dwayne Freese. Serving as pallbearers are Keith Reese, Monte Lawlis, Brian Babin, Jay Kenesson, Ron Poindexter, Marcus Payne, and L. Gayle Burton.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, Nov. 4 from 5 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mildred was born Dec. 27, 1922 to Wilburn A. "Monk" and Maudie May "Maude" Needham Gatlin in Cushing. She was a longtime resident of Woodville and retired as a fifth grade teacher from the Woodville Intermediate School. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Woodville.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Truett Williams on Feb. 1, 1995; and her brother Weldon A. Gatlin. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kay and Charles Spurlock of Hillister, Judy and Gary Root of Tyler, Ginger and Rocky Hudson of Sugar Land, and Susan and Gary Hazelwood of Tyler; brother, James Gatlin; sister, Hilda Hargrove of Beaumont; grandchildren, Emily McCollum, Caleb Spurlock, Martin Spurlock, Lori Rehl, Erin Lade, Miranda Lade, Brandon Hudson, Lauren Hudson, Travis Hazelwood and Mattie Hazelwood; and great grandchildren, Gracin McCollum, Truett McCollum, Payton Rehl and Jackson Rehl.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
Annie Mae Wolf
Annie Mae Wolf, 83, of Warren, died Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003 at Tyler County Hospital in Woodville. Services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 11 a.m. at the Warren Chapel Baptist Church in Warren with burial at Hillister Community Cemetery in Hillister. Visitation was held on Tuesday from 1 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
She was a native of Corrigan, Polk County for a number of years.
Mrs. Wolf was survived by her three daughters, Verda Wolf of Warren, Beatrice (Leonard) Williams of Nacogdoches, and Maggie (Alfred) Foster of Hillister; three sons, Jessie (Linda) Wolf of Warren, Elray (Flo) Wolf and James Wolf both of Beaumont.

Benjamon Anderson Howell
Benjamon Anderson Howell, 92, of Woodville, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003 at the Tyler County Hospital in Woodville.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. in the Woodville United Methodist Church. Officiating was the Rev. Ray Reed. Graveside services were held Saturday, Nov. 8 at 11:30 a.m. in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Texarkana. Officiating was the Rev. Keith Oliphant.
Visitation was held on Friday, Nov. 7 from 4:30 p.m. until service time at the Woodville United Methodist Church.
Benjamon was born Oct. 4, 1911 to William Earl and Ola Pearson Howell in Pickens County, AL. He moved to Brookston, and graduated from Hooks High School and attended Texarkana Junior College and University of Houston. He was a former longtime resident of Houston and had lived in Woodville for the past twenty-one years. He was retired from James G. Brown Engineering Company and had been active in real estate in Houston as well as Woodville. He had served as secretary-treasurer of the Woodville Rotary Club, a director of Tyler County Chamber of Commerce, and a director of Caring Is Sharing. He was a member of the Woodville United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Marie Howell of Woodville; daughter-in-law, Letha Howell of Cincinnati, OH; brother, Watson Howell of Texarkana; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Scott and Julie Howell and Craig and Margie Howell all of Cincinnati, OH, and Russel and Emily Howell of Atlanta, GA; and 8 great grandchildren, Chrashel, Christen, Eric, Brian, Jake, Michael, Benjamin and Genevieve.
Services were under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Woodville.
Mary Ann Coleman
Mary Ann Coleman, 66, passed away in her home with her husband, Ellis, and good friend, Mary L. Johannessen on Nov. 8, 2003.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Lilly Wright.
She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Ellis M. Acree; sister, Jo Ann Mitchell and husband, Bill of Detroit, MI; brother, Charles Brashalla of El Paso; numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary and Ellis have lived in Tyler County for 20 years. Mary worked as a motel desk clerk and various other jobs around Woodville and Jasper. She had a ready smile and a kind word for all. She was known and loved by all who knew her. She will be missed by all.
Cremation services were handled under the direction of Riley Funeral Home of Tyler County.
Ruby Aline Jordan
Ruby Aline Jordan, 94, of Spurger passed away Nov. 6, 2003 at the Dogwood Trails Manor Nursing Home in Woodville.
Born Oct. 13, 1909 in Spurger, to W. H. and Iola McDonald Phillips, she lived in Spurger all of her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all. She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Spurger. She was a member of the Spurger Chapter of the O.E.S. #315 over 50 years.
She will be missed by her daughters, Shirley Spurlock and husband, Toby of Woodville and Kitty Schuler of Silsbee; grandchildren, Art Myles Spurlock, Melinda Davis, John Edgar Schuler and Nancy Serio; great grandchildren, Christopher Serio, Andrew Serio, Lauren Serio, Allex Schuler and Meagan Davis.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 8, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Spurger with Brother Paul Boughan and Brother Byron McWilliams. Burial followed at Turner Branch Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday evening at Riley Funeral Home.
Serving as pallbearers were Art M. Spurlock, John Edgar Schuler, Harold W. Wright, Larry E. Wright, Johnny Davis and Glenn Everett.

Eve M. Vrolyk
Eve M. Vrolyk, 98, of Nederland passed away Friday, Nov. 7, 2003 at Cypress Glen Nursing Center in Port Arthur.
A gathering of family and friends was held from 12 noon until service time at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, at Broussard's Mortuary Chapel 505 12th St. in Nederland with Rev. Dan Malain officiating. Graveside services followed at 3:30 p.m. at Colmesneil City Cemetery in Colmesneil.
Mrs. Vrolyk was a native of Amsterdam, Holland and had lived most of her life in Nederland. She was a former resident of Colmesneil. Mrs. Vrolyk was retired from the Nederland ISD where she served in the food service department. She was a member of the Catholic Faith.
She is survived by one son, Roy C. Vrolyk and wife, Joy of Nederland; four grandsons, Mike R. Vrolyk and wife, Anne of League City, Scot R. Vrolyk of Anchorage, AK, Ross M. Vrolyk and wife, Ella of Houston, Steve J. Vrolyk and wife, Sherry of Perkersburh, WV. Also surviving are six great grandchildren, Ashley, Whitney, Brooklyn, Britney, Jordan and Logan.

Jerry M. Tolar, 57, of Woodville, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003 at the Tyler County Hospital in Woodville.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Nov. 12 at 10 a.m. in the Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home Chapel in Woodville with burial in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery near Woodville. Officiating will be Brother Teddy Minyard. Serving as pallbearers are Gene Morrell, Herbert Morrell, Todd Olivier, Edward "Bo" Primrose, Keith Hays and Virgil Cooley. Honorary pallbearers are Marvin Davenport, Jim Hays and Billy McNally.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 5 - 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Jerry was born Aug. 28, 1946 to John Milton and Sybil Gardner Tolar in Woodville. He was a longtime resident of Tyler County and was a truck driver/operator for Tyler County Precinct #3.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Tolar of Woodville; son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Susan Milam of Woodville; daughters and son-in-law, Lynn and Keith Hays of Woodville and Pat Dumesnil of Woodville; sister, Beverly McBride of Bronson; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
