FRANK ROBERT
Frank Robert, loving husband of Wendell Robert for 63 years, passed away on July 13, 2002. Frank was from a family of 11 children; 5 brothers, and 6 sisters.
He was a kind and gentle man, a beloved husband, and a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He and Wendell have been residents of the Conroe area since 1974.
Frank was born in Latexo, Texas on September 30, 1912. He graduated from Texas A & M with a B.S. degree in 1937. He received his Master of Education degree in 1952 and was an honor student at A & M in 1935.
Frank’s teaching career covered 3 areas of south Texas. He taught agriculture for 2 years in Crockett; served as a principal, science teacher, and agriculture teacher for 25 years in Waller; and he was a science teacher at Washington Junior High in Conroe for 3 years.
In service to his country, Frank was a Second Lieutenant in the Army during WWII in 1941 for three and a half years. He was a P.O.W. in Europe for three months and was awarded the Purple Heart in 1955.
On the home front, he served his community in Waller as an Election worker for 21 years. During that time, he was an Election clerk for 10 years. In the Conroe area, he was an Election judge for 10 years.
Frank not only served in all the above areas, but also he served his church community. For 58 years or more, he was a deacon in the Baptist Church in Waller and in Conroe. He and Wendell have been members of the First Baptist Church in Conroe for 28 years, since 1974. During those years he also was a leader and a Sunday School teacher.
As a devoted family man, Frank was always there with help, advice, and a kind word for those in trouble. It did not matter the day or time, family and friends knew they could count on him in times of sorrow or emergency. He would be there for them.
Frank enjoyed life. He loved all sports, and he played baseball as a youngster. It carried over to his son, Bill Robert, who played and coached football for many years, and to his grandson, Jeffrey, who played and coached soccer. Frank and Wendell spent many hours and traveled many miles to encourage them and to see their games.
Frank had many hobbies over the years which he gratefully shared with friends. He loved to fish, and at one time, fed almost the whole town of Waller with his great catches! He also loved gardening, ceramics, and woodworking. His home was always open and welcome to friends and family. He shared with everyone, his time, his talents, his food, a listening ear, and his kind heart. He truly was a picture of Jesus, the One who served. He will be missed greatly.
His survivors include his wife, Wendell Robert; his son and wife, Bill and Marzie Robert; a granddaughter and husband, Wendy and Blake Anderson of Murfreesboro, TN who are the parents of his three great-grandchildren, Colton, Carrie, and Cason Anderson; and his grandson and wife, Jeffrey and Heather Robert of Mongomery, TX. Other surviving family members include a sister, Linda Woods in Woodville; two brothers, Elbert Robert of Conroe and Edward Robert and wife, Audrey, who reside in Maryland; as well as various nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
