Douglas Wayne Fischer
Douglas Wayne Fischer, 57, of Brenham, died Dec. 15, 2002 in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham.
Mr. Fischer was born Nov. 11, 1945 in Burton, Texas, to William Fred and Marjorie Look Fischer. He was a graduate of Brenham High School. He was the assistant manager of Tootsie's Buy-N-Bye and had been the long-time owner of the Brenham Bowlerama.
Mr. Fischer was a member of Texas Ten Pin Association, Texas Bowling Proprietor's Association and the Sons of Hermann.
Survivors include his brothers and sister-in-law, B.J. and Diane Fischer of Brenham and Bradley Fischer of Brenham; and nieces, Tiffany Galligan and husband Bryan, Holly Hasse and husband Lee and Stacy Lange and husband Dant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Donald Ray Fischer.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, in Memorial Oaks Chapel with Pastor Theresa Davis officiating. Burial will be in Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church Cemetery in Berlin.
The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 17.
Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.

Gary Lee Goad
Gary Lee Goad, 51, of Burton, Texas, died Dec. 13, 2002 in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham.
Mr. Goad was born Feb. 7, 1951 in Flat River, Mo. to John and Ruth Goad. He served in the U.S. Army and the Navy.
On Nov. 10, 1992, he married Muryel Jo Coble in Houston, Texas.
Mr. Goad was employed at Blinn College and was a member of Burton Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Muryel Jo Goad of Burton; sons, Kevin Lee and Kris Lee; daughters, Kandy Leann, Amanda and Ann; grandchildren, Tristan, Ciara, Ian and Chloe; father, John Goad of Dark Hills, Mo.; brother, Clifford Goad of Buffalo, N.Y.; sisters, Linda, Jeannie, Angie, Vickie and Sue; and mothers-in-law, Pauline Thorn of Houston and Marie Pettus of Bacliff.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and one brother, Kenny Ray.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 in Memorial Oaks Chapel.

Dora Stegemueller Zschappel
Dora Stegemueller Zschappel, 98, of Brenham, died Dec. 17, 2002 in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham.
Mrs. Zschappel was born Aug. 2, 1904 in the Kuykendall community of Washington County, Texas to William and Minnie Goeking Stegemueller. She was baptized Dec. 25, 1914 in St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sandy Hill by the Rev. R. Fiedler and was confirmed April 13, 1919 in the same church by Pastor George Czerkus. She attended Washington County schools and Blinn College.
She was married to Henry C. Fischer Dec. 29, 1926 by Pastor George Czerkus in St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Sandy Hill. Mr. Fischer preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 1942.
On Nov. 14, 1947, she was married to Herman L. Zschappel in Austin by Pastor Roesner. Mr. Zschappel preceded her in death May 10, 1967.
Mrs. Zschappel became a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a 60-year member of the Tri-Community Home Demonstration Club and did volunteer work with the Washington County Fair for 31 years.
Survivors include her grandchildren, Teresa Ann and Michael Steinman and Michael Osborne, all of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her first and second husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Joe Osborne; her parents; four sisters and five brothers.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 20 in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Kim Little-Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham.
The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19.
Pallbearers will be Michael A. Osborne, Michael Steinman, Brad Zschappel, Doug Schoppe, Charles Stegemueller, Harry Weidemann, Eugene Seeker and Dr. Henry Hartman. Honorary pallbearers are Edwin Seeker, J.D. Nelson, Weldon Gaskamp, R.B. Schawe, Dr. W.F. Hasskarl Jr., Ted Dean and Raymond Heckmann.

Eula Mae McClean Roberts
Our sister in Christ Eula Mae McClean Roberts, 83, passed onward into eternal rest Dec. 18. Services will be held Sunday, Dec. 22 at 1 p.m. at Sandy Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, Dec. 21 from noon-9 p.m. at Taft Harris Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gertie Shepard
Mrs. Gertie Shepard, 88, of LaMarque, Texas, died Dec. 13, 2002 in Bayou Pine Care Center.
She was born Aug. 3, 1914 in Washington, Texas. She attended Lincoln High School in Port Arthur, Texas and Huston Tillotson College in Austin. She received her bachelor of science degree and master of education degree from Prairie View A&M University. Mrs. Shepard was a retired school teacher and taught at Brenham ISD. She was also a principal at Bethune Elementary in Industry, Texas.
She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Willia Bonner of Texas City, Texas.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home, Navasota.
Funeral services will be Dec. 21, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Mercy Seat Baptist Church in Washington, Texas with the Rev. G.A. McDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Evans Prairie Cemetery in Washington, Texas.

Myra Warnasch Behnke
Myra Warnasch Behnke, 86, of Little Rock, Ark., went to be with the Lord at her Little Rock home Dec. 21, 2002 after a lengthy battle with heart disease. She was born June 1, 1916 to Otto and Ella (Mayer) Warnasch and raised near Brenham until her marriage to Lorenz Behnke in September 1940. They lived in Houston for 12 years and moved to Little Rock in 1952, where she lived until her death.
She was an active member of various organizations in Grace Lutheran Church of Little Rock, a member of AARP and Pleasant Valley Country Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years; a daughter, Diana Curtis and husband Vern of Albuquerque, N.M.; a son, Lt. Col. (Ret.) Gerald L. Behnke and wife Patricia of Garmisch, Germany; a grandson, Brad Curtis and wife Kjelse of Greenville, S.C.; a granddaughter, Christa Falwell and husband Cody of Kaufman, Texas; three great-grandsons; two sisters-in-law, Alma Warnasch of Houston, Texas and Wella Mae Behnke of Round Top, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002 at Grace Lutheran Church, Hillcrest at Kavanaugh, Little Rock, Ark., with the Rev. Paul Jilg and Pastor James Walter officiating.

Lois Georges
Lois Georges, 66, of Houston, passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2002. Born Jan. 16, 1936 in Burton, Texas, Lois was a faithful member of Advent Lutheran Church and a hairdresser for over 40 years. She loved to sew and dance, and especially loved to shop with her buddy Nina Runge.
Lois is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Erwin "Joe" Georges of Houston; daughters, Kelly Hyatt and husband Keith of Allen, Texas and Kara Briney and husband Jimmy of Houston; son, Kerry Georges and wife Nancy of Houston; six grandchildren, Megan Georges Mickey, Bobby Georges, Kristofer, Kaylyn and Kendall Hyatt and Gregory Briney; puppy dog, JoeDee; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today at Advent Lutheran Church, 5820 Pinemont, Houston, with Pastor Larry Beck officiating. Interment followed at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Perry James Schwenke
Perry James Schwenke was born in Yoakum, Texas July 3, 1928 and died in Austin Dec. 21, 2002. He married Esther Schlottmann Dec. 12, 1953.
James was a graduate of Yoakum High School. After graduation he served in the Navy during World War II at Bikini Atoll and the Korean Conflict. Later he attended Landig Mortuary School in Houston through 1953, followed by employment at Buffington Funeral Home in Yoakum through 1960; Wilke-Clay Funeral Home, 1960-1973; and Seton Medical Center, 1973-1986. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and a member of the Elks Lodge.
He was preceded in death by Walter and Elsie Schwenke, parents; and Walter B. Schwenke, brother.
Survivors are his wife, Esther Schwenke; daughters, Susan Palmer and Sharon Sommerfeldt and her husband Craig of Dallas; grandson, James Douglas Buck Palmer; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lillian and Lynn F. Anderson.
Funeral services were held today at 1 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church with burial following at Forest Oaks Memorial Park.

Alida Cordes Williams
Alida Cordes Williams, after celebrating her 90th birthday, has gone home. She is the widow of Rudolph A. Williams.
Mrs. Williams was born Nov. 30, 1912 in Fayetteville, Texas to Willie G. and Anna Agricola Cordes. She was baptized in the Warrenton Lutheran Church and confirmed in St. John's Lutheran Church of Rutersville, Texas. On Dec. 25, 1930, she married Rudolph A. Williams.
Her love of family and friends, baking and quilting was exceeded only by her love of God. We the family, celebrate her life.
Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church of Gay Hill. She was a member of the WELCA and the Women's auxiliary of the Gay Hill, Mound Hill and Cedar Hill Volunteer Fire Department. She was also a past member of the Extension Homemakers and served as a judge at the Washington County Fair. In 1993, she was named as the Homemaker of the Year and also won a number of blue ribbons at the Fair Achievement Day and The Banner-Press bake-off.
Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Newton and Doris Williams of Houston and Jack and Judy Williams of North Little Rock, Ark.; and daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Thomas Campbell of Brenham. Eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive her.
Her parents, husband and one sister preceded her in death.
The funeral service for Alida Cordes Williams will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24 in St. Peter Lutheran Church of Gay Hill with Pastor Virgil Pecht officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive visitors at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 6-8 p.m. today.

Timothy M. Dudich, 46, passed away Dec. 18, 2002. He is survived by his son, Michael J. Dudich of Brenham.

Rev. Edward Finley
The Rev. Edward Finley, well known minister of Brenham, died at his residence in Brenham on Dec. 30. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 3 at Post Oak Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m. The Rev. J.E. Wilkins will officiate with burial in Willow Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Florine Finley of Brenham; two daughters, Edra Finley of Brenham and Angela Finley of Missouri City; three step-daughters, Agnes Zwahr and husband Scott of Brenham, Angela McGinty and husband Tim of Navasota and Martha Harpe of Bryan; one son, David Lacy and wife Rosalyn of Brenham; two sisters, Mabel Sawyer and Ida Oatis, both of Texas City; two brothers, Willie Small and William Small, both of Texas City; 13 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mack Melvin Jones Sr.
Funeral services for Mack Melvin Jones Sr., who died in a local hospital on Dec. 29, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Liberty Baptist Church in Independence. The Rev. Charles Brisco will officiate with burial in the Independence Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Clyde Jones of Brenham; two brothers, Clyde Jones of Dickinson and Lewis Jones Jr. of Houston; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.

Colonel James Joseph Meyers
Colonel James Joseph Meyers, age 80, of 305 Oak Hill Drive, Brenham, died Dec. 17, 2002. He was the son of the late First Sergeant Harry Meyers and Hilda W. Hartman Meyers of Jefferson City, Mo. Born at Fort Omaha, Neb., he grew up at various army posts throughout the mid-west and in Texas. After graduating from Alamo Heights High School (San Antonio) in 1941, he enlisted in the United States Army. He attended Infantry OCS at Fort Benning, Ga. Commissioned a second lieutenant of Infantry in 1943, he volunteered for parachute duty and served with the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division in the European Theatre of Operations during World War II. Colonel Meyers parachuted into Holland in the 1944 invasion and he served as a rifle platoon leader and rifle company commander in three European campaigns.
During his 30 years of active federal service, Colonel Meyers served repeated tours of duty with parachute units both in the U.S. and overseas. Immediately prior to his retirement from the army in 1972, he was Senior U.S. Army Advisor to the 71st Airborne Brigade, Texas Army National Guard. His decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit, Joint Service and Army Commendation Medals, Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster and V Device, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge and Master Parachutist Badge. He also wore the Military Order of William of Orange (Holland), in the Belgium Fourragere and two Presidential Unit Citations. In 1992 the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment added his name to the regiment's roll of distinguished members and in 1994 he was inducted into the U.S. Army OCS Hall of Fame.
In 1947 Colonel Meyers married Hazel Shaw Mangham of San Antonio. He is survived by his beloved widow; a son, Harry Meyers of Brenham; a daughter, Catherine Downes; a granddaughter, Katherine Ann Downes; a son-in-law, Vachel A. Downes III of Centreville, Md.; and a Welsh Corgi dog named Fergie. A son, James K. Meyers; a granddaughter, Stacy Kristin Turner; and his friend and constant companion, Badji, a Welsh Corgi dog, preceded him in death.
A memorial service for Colonel Meyers will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003 from St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Brenham. The Rev. Cecilia Smith will officiate. Colonel Meyers will be laid to rest in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va. Jan. 10, 2003.

Col. James Joseph Meyers
Col. James Joseph Meyers, 80, of Brenham, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002 at his residence. Col. Meyers was born Dec. 8, 1922 in Fort Omaha, Neb. to Harry and Hilda (Hartman) Meyers. Col. Meyers served his country for 30 years in the U.S. Army as a Parachute Infantry Officer 82nd Airborne.
Col. Meyers is preceded in death by his parents; son, James K. Meyers; granddaughter, Stacy Kristin Turner; and constant companion, Badji, a Welsh Corgi dog.
Col. Meyers' survivors include his wife, Hazel Meyers of Brenham; son, Harry Meyers of Brenham; daughter, Catherine Downes and husband Vachel A. III of Centreville, Md.; granddaughter, Katherine Anne Downes of Centreville, Md.; and his Welsh Corgi dog, Fergie.
A memorial service for Col. Meyers will be announced at a later date.

Dolores Joyce Engels
Dolores Joyce Engels, 73, of the Marble Falls area went to be with her Lord Monday, Dec. 23, 2002.
She was born in Houston, Texas Aug. 31, 1929, the daughter of Archie and Mildred Albert. On Dec. 26, 1948, she married Frank George Engels Jr. of Corpus Christi, Texas. They were blessed with three wonderful children, Kathy Hall, Frank Engels III and Linda Reed.
She is survived by her husband, Frank; three children and their spouses, Kathy and Ron Hall, Frank and Laurie Engels and Linda and John Reed; wonderful grandchildren, Kym Nicol, Tobin Bushong and wife Blair, Ryan Engels and Jason Hall and wife Elizabeth; and great-grandchildren, Jocelynn and Scott.
Joyce was a joy and blessing to her family and friends and will be dearly missed.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today at Edgar Funeral Home in Marble Falls.
Funeral services will be at St. Peters Lutheran Church in Marble Falls, Texas at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 27. Burial will follow at Fall Creek Cemetery under the direction of Edgar Funeral Home in Marble Falls.

Audrey H. Eversmeyer
Audrey H. Eversmeyer, 95, of Chappell Hill, Texas, died Dec. 25, 2002 at her residence.
Mrs. Eversmeyer was born Sept. 18, 1907 in Cotter, Wis. to Frank and Mable Bessie Handeyside. She earned her bachelor of arts degree from Central State Teachers College in Stevens Point, Wis. and her masters degree from Sam Houston State University.
On Jan. 28, 1929, she was married to Herbert Edwin Eversmeyer in Appleton, Wis.
Mrs. Eversmeyer taught in the Pasadena Independent School District from 1955 to 1973. She retired from Dobie High School in June 1973.
Survivors include her daughters, Jean Arden Eversmeyer of Houston and Floi Lynn Ewing of Chappell Hill; two grandchildren, M. Keith Ewing and wife Molly of St. Cloud, Minn. and Jeanne Shadoan of Wichita Falls; four great-grandchildren, Richard Glaspie of Waterloo, Iowa, Jennifer Shadoan of Centreville, Va., Heather Shadoan of Wichita Falls and Leah Ewing of St. Cloud, Minn.; one great-great-granddaughter, Alexis Glaspie of Waterloo, Iowa; close personal friends, Charlotte Avery and June Dossat; and faithful caregiver, Pearlie Mae Turner of Chappell Hill.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Herbert Edwin Eversmeyer, in 1955.
The memorial service will be Saturday, Dec. 29 at 11 a.m. in Memorial Oaks Chapel with the Rev. Karen Tudor officiating. Interment will be at Restland Memorial Park in Richardson, Texas.

A memorial service for Mrs. Lillie Andreas Hackemack will be held Monday, Jan. 6, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top.
She was born July 26, 1918 in Fayette County to Fritz and Augusta Peters Andreas and was the widow of Adolph Hackemack.
Myrtle Dockery Nunn
Funeral services for Myrtle Dockery Nunn, who died Wednesday, Jan. 1 at a local hospital will be held Saturday, Jan. 4 at 2:30 p.m. at Sandy Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. L.O. Lang will officiate with burial in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one brother, George Dockery (Elizabeth) of Houston; four sisters, Rosie Lee Hubert of Houston, Addie McNeil, Ida Abbs and Elnora Wilson, all of Brenham; nieces, nephews, other relatives and wonderful neighbors on Beckermann Road.

Erna H. Fischer
Erna H. Fischer, 89, of Carmine, died Wednesday. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine, with burial in Carmine Cemetery.
Survivors include her son, Milton and wife Pauline Fischer; and her daughter, Joyce and husband Ilo Dean Ullrich, all of Carmine. Also, five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

Erwin A. Pavlik, 68, of Giddings, died Saturday. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. Graveside service will be held at noon Saturday at Atkinson Cemetery in Chappell Hill.
Survivors include longtime friend and companion, Julia Tarr of Brenham; four sons, Lt. Col. Greg Pavlik and wife Patti of San Antonio, Stan Pavlik and Roger Pavlik of Snyder and John Pavlik of Irving; and their mother, Shirley Jilek Pavlik of Snyder; three grandchildren, Andrea Pavlik of Snyder and Joshua and Jeffery Pavlik, both of San Antonio; two sisters, Irene and W.C. Duncan and Marilyn and Daniel Treybig of Houston; and three brothers, Bennie and Rita Pavlik, Jimmy and Lillian Pavlik and Bobby and Pat Pavlik of Schulenburg. Mary "Granny" Kocurek, 90, of Brenham, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003 at Bluebonnet Hills Care Center. She was born Aug. 21, 1912 in Plum, Texas to Paul and Emily Matocha and attended school in LaGrange. She was married to Emil Kocurek Sr. and became a homemaker. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Sealy before moving to Brenham where she attended St. Mary's Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1986, brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son, Emil Kocurek Jr., known as Randy Reets; grandchildren, Deidra Mearns and husband Prentice of Brenham, Kellen Kocurek and wife Marisa of Cypress, Chris Kocurek and wife Carolyn of Austin and Amy Bentke and husband Phil of Brenham; and great-grandchildren, Meredith and Alex Mearns, Reagan and Cara Bentke, Cameron Kocurek and Kathleen Finan.
A Rosary will be recited Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003 at 6 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel by Father Richard Tijerina.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, Jan. 6, 2003 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church of Brenham with Father Richard Tijerina, celebrant. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Cemetery in Sealy with Father Octavio Muguerza presiding.
Pallbearers are Keith Kane, Ray Baranowski, Tado Kwiatkowski, Daniel Cendalski, Phillip Smith, Alex Mearns, Reagan Bentke and Tommie Januszewski. Honorary pallbearers are Cara Bentke, Meredith Mearns, Cameron Kocurek and Kathleen Finan.

Bernard L. "Burney" Michalak
Bernard Michalak, 77, of Fort Worth, died Jan. 1, 2003.
B.L. "Burney" Michalak was born July 2, 1925 in Brenham to Rosalie and Stephen Michalak. He was baptized and confirmed in St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brenham. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #516. He served as post commander at the post for three consecutive years. He was a painter.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Michalak, in 1998.
Survivors include daughters, Sharon Michalak of New Jersey and Diane Goss of Kennedale; sons, Stephen Michalak and Barry Michalak, both of Fort Worth; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; four sisters; and one brother.
Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 6 from 6-8 p.m. at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Shannon Rose Hill Funeral Chapel, 7301 East Lancaster, Fort Worth, 76112. Burial will be at Isham Cemetery in Fort Worth.

Dr. James Allen Lokey
Dr. James Allen Lokey, 61, of Brenham died at his home Friday, Dec. 27, 2002.
He was born Sept. 26, 1941 in Henderson, TX to John Allen and Margarita (Barnes) Lokey. He married Bonnie Jayne Shive Oct. 31, 1989 in Brenham. Dr. Lokey was a retired administrator of Brenham State School.
Survivors include: his wife, Bonnie Shive Lokey; sons, John-Paul Lokey and Lance Lane, all of Brenham; daughters, Elizabeth Rain and Greg Vincent of Baytown, Texas, Andrea Lokey of Phoenix, Arizona, and Lauren and Chad Lee of Cypress, Texas; four grandchildren; and sister, Beverly Alstrin of Midland, Texas.
Rosary will be recited Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002 at 6 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be Monday, Dec. 30, 2002 at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Richard Tijerina as celebrant. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Navasota.

Victor A. Brier Sr.
Victor A. Brier Sr., 82, of Cuero, Texas, died Jan. 4, 2003.
He was born Oct. 28, 1920 in Lavaca Co., Texas. Mr. Brier was a serviceman and worked at Arkla Gas Co. for many years and was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Eunice Guinn Brier of Cuero; daughter, Nancy Brier O'Neal of Cuero; son, Victor "Bubba" Brier Jr. of Brenham; sister, Julie Whiddon of Port Arthur, Texas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Paul F. Brier; mother, Mary Alice Campion Brier; sister, Mary Agnes Moore; and brother, John Brier.
A Rosary will be held tonight at 7 at Freund Funeral Chapel in Cuero.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003 at 2 p.m. at Freund Funeral Chapel in Cuero with the Rev. Johnson Owusu-Boateng and Dr. Glenn Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Cuero.
Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.

Bertha Dotson
Bertha Dotson, 104, of Brenham and a former resident of Caldwell, died Jan. 6, 2003 in Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham.
Mrs. Dotson is survived by her daughters, Lucille Foehner Lange of Burton and Opal Cox of New Orleans, La.

Lemroy Goldberg
Lemroy Goldberg, 50, of Burton, the husband of Barbara Goldberg, died in Blanco County, Texas, Friday, Jan. 3, 2003.
Mr. Goldberg was born Nov. 26, 1952 in Brenham to Leroy and Lorine Mueller Goldberg. He was a 1971 graduate of Burton High School.
On June 25, 1972, he was married to Barbara Ray in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Greenvine by Pastor W.C. Poehlmann.
Mr. Goldberg was the owner and operator of Goldberg Farm Service of Burton. He loved his family and was known as "POP" to his grandchildren. He had three children by birth but had six in his heart. Deer hunting, working on cars with his son and operating his bulldozer were his favorite enjoyments of life.
Survivors include his mother, Lorine Goldberg of Burton; wife, Barbara Ray Goldberg of Burton; son, Nick Goldberg and his fiancé Kim Sokol, both of Burton; daughters and sons-in-law, Misty and Kevin Lucherk of Burton and Kacey and Chad Weiss of Brenham; and his grandchildren, Riley and Cooper Lucherk of Burton and Cade Weiss of Brenham; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Marsha Ray of Brenham; sisters-in-law, Jackie Ray of Burton and Rene' Runge of Brenham; and mother-in-law, Jerlene Ray of Brenham. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins,
His father and his father-in-law, Jack Ray, preceded him in death.
The funeral service for Lemroy Goldberg will be Tuesday, Jan. 7 at 10 a.m. in St. John United Church of Christ of Burton with Pastor Glen Schoeneberg officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Family visitation will be today from 6-8 p.m. in Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
Mr. Goldberg will be in state at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton until 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. John United Church of Christ of Burton building fund.
