A memorial service was be held on Saturday, April 24, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at the Sycamore House, 307 Sycamore Street, Brenham, Texas.

Everett Douglas was born on October 16, 1917 to Fred and Bella Douglas in Jasper, Texas. He was one of four siblings born to this marriage. He met and married Orslee Bragg and as a result of this marriage, three children were born.
The sun set on the life of Everett Douglas on March 31, 2010 at his home in Hempstead, Texas.
He leaves to mourn his death: His wife of 65 years, Orslee Douglas; 2 daughters, Connie Douglas of Houston, Texas and Yvette (Barry) Wright of Katy, Texas; 2 Grandchildren, Barry Andre' Wright II, and Dionna Elyse Wright, both of Katy, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family.
Visitation was Friday, April 2, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Miller-Josey Mortuary, 428 West Meyer Street in Bellville, Texas.
Funeral Service was held held Saturday, April 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m.
Interment is at Cemetery Beautiful, 8401 Wheatley St. in Houston, Texas.

Bettye Ann Stephens was born on April 19, 1934 to the late Mr. Mark and Minnie Mae Stephens. Bettye attended public school in Columbus, Colorado County, Texas.
On Friday, March 19, 2010, God saw a need to call Bettye home. Bettye is preceded in death by both parents, Mark and Minnie Mae Stephens and daughter, Wilma Phillips.
Bettey is survived by her granddaughter, Marcella Stephens, Two sisters, Wilma Hargrove and Mary Wilson, five great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of friends and relatives.
Service was held on Saturday, 11:00 a.m., March 27, 2010 at the New Greater Smith Baptist Church, 833 Preston Street, Columbus, Texas.
Visitation took place Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at the New Greater Smith Baptist Church, 833 Preston Street, Columbus, Texas.
Interment is at the Willing Workers Cemetery, Columbus, Texas.

Ms. Vera Mae Davis

In the year of 1949, June 23, a baby girl was born to Elige and Lillie Davis. They named her Vera. Vera grew up in New Ulm, Texas and attended Bethune Elementary in Industry, Texas and spent her high school years at Sealy and Bellville. She continued her education at Blinn Junior College in Brenham, Texas where she received her Associate Degree.
At an early age she began to attend the Church of God of Prophecy of New Ulm.
Upon her graduation from Blinn Junior College Vera Moved to Houston, Texas. She began her career of working in the insurance industry when she became employed by the prudential Insurance Company of America. After fifteen years of service at Prudential, Vera continued her journey up the corporate ladder and joined the workforce at the Variable Annuity Life Insurance Company (VALIC). Her career at VALIC spanned over twenty years until she resigned due to illness.
Vera was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. Although she had no children by birth, she was a special "Auntie" to her nieces and nephews. She lavished them with love and affection while spoiling them with the purchases she made on her frequent shopping trips. Among her favorite pastimes were: traveling, browsing the malls and spending time with family and friends. She traveled extensively both for business and pleasure. She derived extreme pleasure from planning family vacations and excursions.
Vera departed this earthly life on Monday, March 10, 2010. She was preceded in death by her father Elige Davis, Sr, grandparents, Bennie and Lillie Williams and Richard and Betty Davis and nephew Nicholas Davis.
Vera leaves to cherish her memory, her loving mother, Lillie Mae Davis of New Ulm, Texas, her brother, Elige Davis, Jr. (Kethree), of Houston, Texas, her sister Linda Madison (Larry) of New Ulm, Texas, her devoted and special friend of many years, Henry Brown, Houston, Texas, nieces and nephews, Kemba Davis Griggs (Derrick), Natasha Madison, Tarik Madison, William Davis (Michelle), Jzhavatnie Vaughn-Davis, Treasure Davis, Jordon Davis, Zion Davis, Alric Davis, Isaiah Madison, Gavin Griggs, Canaan Griggs and a host of other relatives and friends.
Service was held on Sunday, March 14, 2010 2:00 p.m at West End Baptist Church, 7577 Ernest Parkway, Industry, Texas
Active Pallbearers were Ben Williams, Neal Williams, Ronnie Madison, Terry Madison, Woodie Williams, Jr., Dennis Williams, Leroy Smith, and Tyson McDonald.

Alice Faye was born July 3, 1947 to the late Joe and Ida Mae Cruise. She attended the public schools in Sealy, Texas.
In 1967 she met and married the late Landris Seymore, Jr. Two sons and two step sons were blessed to this union.
On November 8, 1991, Alice Faye married Howard Odell Basey. Two step daughters were blessed to this union, Oberta Basey and Oletha Basey.
Alice Faye is preceded in to death by both parents, Joe and Ida Mae Cruise, grandparents, Volley and Eddie Lee Gentry, husband, Landris Seymore, Jr. and son, Landris Seymore.
She leaves to mourn her devoted husband, Howard Odell Basey, four sons, Lee Cruise, Joe Cruise, Volley Seymore and Akire Freeman, God son, Jermaine Brown. Daughters and daughters in-law, La Quinda, Quavalinta, Patricia, Felicia, Kimberly, Melanie, Lorette and Tara. Three brothers, Gerald Wayne Cruise, Eddie Basey and Lonnie Jones. One sister, Arvis Barber, one great aunt, Willie Mae Harris, grandchildren, great grandchildren, a host os nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

The late Lawrence and Mary Rankin Page welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Francine Page, into the world on March 7, 1934, in Seminary, Mississippi.
Ms. Francine Page recently moved to Wallis, Texas from Inwood, New York. While in New York she was a faithful member of St. John Baptist Church under Pastor Gregory K. Stanislaus. Since moving to Texas, Ms. Page was a member of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Wallis, Texas.
For years Sis. Francine Page worked as a wonderful home health care nurse.
Ms. Francine Page was welcomed by her Lord on February 1, 2010. She is preceded in death by her parents Mr. Lawrence and Mary Page.
Funeral Services were held on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at Bethel Baptist Church in Sealy, Texas with Rev. Charles B. Frazier officiating.
Active Pallbearers were Johnnie Hall, Levester Hall, Larry Scyrus, and Kermit Garner.
Interment followed at Ward Bend Cemetery in Sealy, Texas.

Mrs. Jessie Mae Oliver

On March 27, 1925, the late James and Willie Mae Clark were blessed with a baby girl whom they named Jessie Mae.
Jessie Mae grew up in the Simonton area and attended public school.
Jessie Mae confessed her faith in Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. Sam Banks of St. Matthews Missionary Baptist Church of Simonton, Texas and later in life she moved her membership to St. John Missionary Baptist Church under the present leadership of Rev. Bennie R. Paul of Simonton, Texas.
Jessie Mae met and married Elbert Oliver, Sr. and eight children blessed this union.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, two children, Linda Ray McDade and Elbert Oliver, Jr., one grandson, Terry Stevenson, Jr., four brothers and two sisters.
Sister Oliver leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters; Jessie Faye Oliver of Simonton, Texas, Betty Jo Vaughn (Norman) of Brookshire, Texas, Lula Oliver of Rosenberg, Texas, Alice Taylor of Simonton, Texas; two sons; Maureece Oliver (Mae Jo) and Elreece Oliver all of Simonton, Texas, one step son Doyal Knapp (LaShan) of Wallis, Texas, one Son-in-law, Charles Ray McDade, of Minnesota. Sister Oliver also leaves to mourn her passing twenty grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren, two sisters; Lillian Chase and Mattie Kennedy, one brother; Charlie (CL) Clark, three special friends; Willie Lee, Ms. Doris Murrell, and Faye Connor, and a host of nieces, nephews and many sorrowing friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, January 16, 2009 at 12:00 Noon at Simonton Community Church in Simonton, Texas with Rev. Bennie Paul officiating.
Active Pallbearers were Kerris Oliver, Maureece Oliver, Lyndell Oliver, Ronnie Grant, Brien Taylor, and Derek Taylor.
Honorary Pallbearers were Byron Taylor, Herman McDade, Charles Ray Oliver, Patrick Oliver, Jarvis Oliver, Norman Vaughn, Charles D. McDade, Quinshaun Hawkins, Randy McDonald.
