LaVerna Landua, 93, died Jan. 11, 2017 at Kruse Village in Brenham. She is survived by her nephew and wife, Gerald and Sally Ahrens of Conroe, niece and husband, Ruth and Robert Parker of Brenham, great nephews and spouses, Matt and Lauren Parker of Brenham, and Jonathan and Heidi Parker of Austin, great-niece and husband, Kathleen and Tim Barr, of Seguin, and great-niece, Lynelle Ahrens of San Antonio. She is also survived by 2 great-great-nephews and 7 great great-nieces. Visitation will be held at Memorial Oaks Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13. A graveside service will be held Sat., Jan. 14, 2017 at 1 p.m. at Eben-Ezer Cemetery in Berlin with Pastor Ken Weiss officiating followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Brenham with Pastor Mark Groves. Funeral arrangements for LaVerna Landua are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.

Raymond Gaskamp
Raymond Gaskamp, 92, of the William Penn Community, died 01/09/2017 and entered eternal peace with the Lord and his beloved wife of 65 years, Dorothy Ann (Schwartz) Gaskamp, who preceded him in death 9 days earlier on 12/31/2016. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Brenda Gaskamp of Washington; grandson, Ryan Gaskamp of Houston; brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Bernice Gaskamp of Brenham; sisters-in-law, Annie Gaskamp of Brenham, Florence Gaskamp of Richmond and Eleanor Pearl Gaskamp of Washington and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred (Fritzie) and JoAnn Schwartz of Brenham. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters-in-law, Henry and Alma Gaskamp, Herbert and Hattie Gaskamp, Walter Gaskamp, Alfred and Nelda Gaskamp, Melvin Gaskamp, Otto Gaskamp Jr., Monroe and Lillian Gaskamp; sister and brothers-in-law, Louise Gaskamp, Jim and Thekla Lueckemeyer, and Herbert and Meta Mutscher; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gertie and Otto Kramer. Visitation with the family will be Friday, January 13, 2017 from 5 - 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Mark Moldenhauer officiating. Leo Julius (L.J.) Arndt, Jr.
Leo Julius (L.J.) Arndt, Jr., 67, died January 9, 2017 at his residence in Brenham. L.J. was born July 11, 1949 in Brenham to Leo Julious and Alice Knipstein Arndt. He was baptized Sept. 11, 1949, and confirmed April 7, 1963. L J. worked as a rancher and horse trainer. Survivors include daughter Jennifer Grimm-McGinley (Jess McGinley) of Cypress, and Jill Arndt (Nathan Wellmann) of Brenham; sister and brother-in-law Carolyn and Ray Werth of Brenham; grandchildren: Taylor and Logan Grimm, and Zoe, Kallie and Daisy Wellmann. Preceding him in death were his parents, Leo and Alice Arndt. A Memorial Service for L. J. Arndt, Jr. will held at 6 p.m., Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Doug Collins officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 6:00pm Wednesday until service time at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Funeral arrangements for Leo Julius Arndt, Jr. are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Gladys Appel Jaeger
Funeral services for Gladys Jaeger, 86, of Giddings, are scheduled for 10:00am on January 11, 2017 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Jeremy Walloch officiating. Entombment will follow in the Giddings City Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on January, 10th from 11:00am - 9:00pm and on January 11th from 7:00am - 8:30am at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Tuesday evening from 5:00 - 7:00pm. Gladys (Appel) Jaeger was born on November 29, 1930, in Brenham, Texas, the daughter of Robert Appel, Sr. and Caroline (Tiaden) Appel. She was united in marriage to Elwood "Boots" Jaeger on February 26, 1956 in Brenham. Gladys passed away the afternoon of January 7, 2017 at her home in Giddings. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert C. & Caroline Appel, Sr.; her husband of 58 years, Elwood "Boots" Jaeger; two brothers, Arleigh "Jack" Appel & his wife, Billy Jean, and Robert C. "Buster" Appel, Jr. & his wife, Mary Lou and one brother-in-law, Kenneth Hannes. Gladys is survived by her two children, Carol Ehrlund & her husband, Ronnie of Giddings and Eddie Bob Jaeger of Giddings; two grandsons, Robert Ehrlund & his wife, Alisa of Giddings and Justin Ehrlund & his wife, Latisha of Giddings; one step grandson, Tyler Stubblefield of Austin; six great-grandchildren, Lilly, Violet & Rose Ehrlund of Giddings, Kyndall & Kade Ehrlund of Giddings and Ashton Stubblefield of Austin; sister-in-law, Valora "Mickey" Hannes of Willis; two brothers-in-law, Alois Jager & his wife, Barbara of Giddings and Murray Jaeger & Terri Lyons of Serbin; special caregivers, Hilli Sparkman and Whitney Myers, as well as several nieces and nephews. Dorothy Ann (Schwartz) Gaskamp, 89, of the William Penn Community, passed away on December 31, 2016 in Brenham, Texas. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Raymond Gaskamp; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Brenda Gaskamp of Brenham; brother and sister-in-law Fred (Fritzie) and JoAnn Schwartz of Brenham; sister Eleanor Pearl Gaskamp of Brenham; grandson; Ryan Gaskamp of Houston, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Clarence and Bernice Gaskamp of Brenham, Florence Gaskamp of Richmond, and Annie Gaskamp of Brenham, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Betty Jean Farrack, 77, of Giddings, are scheduled for 10:00am on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in with Rev. Christ Nietubicz officiating. Burial will follow in the Giddings Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, from 7:00am – 9:00pm and on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 7:00am – 8:30am at Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The family will be present for visitation Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00pm. Barbara Ann (Derkowski) Beerwinkel, 67 wife of Herbert Beerwinkel, passed away Friday, December 23, 2016 at St. Joseph Hospital, Bryan. Barbara’s survivors include: her husband of 47 years, Herbert Beerwinkel: daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Neal Hahn; granddaughter, Sydney Anais Hahn; son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Taran Beerwinkel; siblings, Joe Derkowski and wife Ann, Tony Derkowski, Jr., Mary Ann Bacarisse, Bruno Derkowski; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation with the Beerwinkel family will be Tuesday, December 27th from 5 p.m. until rosary is recited at 7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Edgar Schwartz, 81, husband of Sandra Schwartz, died December 24, 2016 at his residence. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Schwartz; his children: Rebecca and Tim Buchanan, Tina and Ron Ahasan, Robert and Brandi Schwartz, and Adrienne and Jerremy Guthrie; brothers: Milton Schwartz, Kenneth Schwartz and wife Marie, Edward Schwartz, Trenton Dean Schwartz; sisters Geraldine Pohlmeyer and late husband, Glen Pohlmeyer, Gloria Ann Klussmann and husband Raymond, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon and Donald Winkelmann. Grandchildren: Madeline Jean Buchanan, Caleb Edward Buchanan, Emma Kate Schwartz, Andrew Jacob Schwartz, Joshua Schwartz Ahasan, Aliyah Ann Ahasan, Henry Schwartz Ahasan, Lydia Claire Guthrie, Jackson Wayne Guthrie and Brody Wayne Guthrie. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Robert and Lydia Boenker Schwartz, and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred Andrew and Ernestine Kieke. Ruby Lee Adler Kruger, 89, passed away on Christmas Eve of 2016 in Bryan. Her family was by her side. Funeral services for Ruby will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016, at Grace Lutheran Church, with Pastor Matthew Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Sherry Kruger of Brenham; grandchildren: Chad Kruger (Rhonda) of Eva, Alabama, and Kellan Kruger (Elizabeth) of Colorado Springs, CO.; step-grandchildren: Kristy Veith (Brett) of Magnolia, and Bradley Winters (Kim) of Danville, Alabama; great-grandchildren: Anneliese and Brennam Kruger; step-great-grandchildren: Blake and Hunter Hallman, Brody and Emma Grace Winters, Westin Krolczyk, and Cody, Victoria, and Brielynn Veith; sister-in-law, Evelyn Ruth Juergens, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Weldon and Patti Kruger, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. Also surviving are dear friends Clara Gurka, Teresa and Belmiro Medeiros, and Carol Kruger. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; parents, Herbert and Emma Rosenbaum Adler; sister and brother-in-law, Deloris and Barney Luthe; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Walter and Josephine Kruger; brother-in-law and sister-in-law O.W. and Alvira Kruger, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Juergens. Willie Brinkmeyer
Willie Brinkmeyer, 93, of Brenham, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2016, at Brenham Nursing and Rehab. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 26, 2016 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor Walter Schindehette officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Willie was born May 15, 1923 in Washington, Texas to Fritz and Mary Brinkmeyer. Willie married his lovely wife, Margaret Esther (Krause), on December 23, 1974, in Anderson, Texas. Willie attended Sandy Hill schools. He retired from Robert Lange Inc. He also served in the U. S. Army National Guard. Willie Brinkmeyer was baptized and confirmed in Sandy Hill. He is survived by his wife Margaret Esther (Krause) Brinkmeyer; sons Raymond Brinkmeyer, and Billy Brinkmeyer and wife, Leslie; daughter and son-in-law, Willie Mae and Glenwood Hertel; brothers and sister-in-law Roger Brinkmeyer and special friend, Mary Ellen; and Rev. Arthur and Carol Brinkmeyer; brother-in-law Marvin Weidemann Sr.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Mary Horak; Bertha Geick; Natalie and Billie Jasinski; Daniel Krause; Rita and Freddie Hugo; grandchildren: Todd and Darlene Hertel; Darla and Ricky Pourchot; Josh and Felicia Jordan; Cody Jordan; Cherish Murphy; Jeremy and Mistie McAnally; Raymond Scott, Robert Ryan, and Hollie Jeannie Brinkmeyer, numerous great- grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Joel Gutierrez, 45 of Dime Box, Texas, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 3, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dime Box. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. A Rosary will be held Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Gutierrez passed away on the morning of Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at his home in Dime Box.
Joel Silva Gutierrez was born on September 9, 1965 in Pearsall, Texas to Tomas & Emma (Silva) Gutierrez and was a supervisor with Diamond P Lease & Well Service in Dime Box.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Joel is survived by his wife Olivia Benavides of Dime Box; six daughters, Cynthia Gonzales & Cesar Cardenas of Giddings, Felicia Benavides of Japan, Delilah Benavides of Dime Box, Michelle Gutierrez of Dime Box, Nicole Gutierrez of Dime Box and Emma Jo Gutierrez of Dime Box; two granddaughters, Adrianna & Neomi Cardenas of Giddings; brother, Tomas & Maria Gutierrez of Buffalo; two sisters, Selma Gutierrez & George Santos of Pearsall and Sylvia Gutierrez of San Antonio; two nieces, Danielle Barron of San Antonio and Isabel Gutierrez of Buffalo and a nephew, Tomas Gutierrez III of San Antonio.

Wendell Henry Rudloff, 75, the widow of Maxine Rudloff, of Fayetteville, died Dec. 23, 2016, in Giddings, TX.
