Vivian Mahlmann Maass, 84, went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 29, 2013, following complications from a stroke. Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, May 2, 2013 at Welcome Lutheran Church, with Pastor John Sutton officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Ora Nell Mahlmann of Nelsonville; sister-in-law, Edith Maass of Texarkana, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Alton Maass, son, Harold Maass, and brothers Bailey and Norris Mahlmann.

Barbara Ann Dickmann Wagner, 74, widow of Alois Wagner, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013 at St. Joseph ’s Regional Health Center in Bryan after a brief illness.
Survivors include: sister, Sarita Mutscher and husband Ken Mutscher of Brenham; brother-in-law, Robert Wagner of Winedale; sister-in-law Annie Chovanec and husband Edward of Columbus, brother-in-law William “Bill” Wagner and wife Linda of Paige; three nephews: Kevin Mutscher and family of Brenham, Brian Chovanec and family of Columbus, Donnie Wagner and family of Houston, and three nieces: Shannon Miller and family of Austin, Brenda Larson and family of Houston, and Wendy Emmons and family of Paige, as well as numerous cousins and friends.
Barbara will lie in state at Memorial Oaks Chapel until 10 a.m. Tuesday, and will be in state at Foehner Funeral Home beginning at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Visitation with the family will be held at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top with Rev. John David Nedbalek officiating. Burial will follow in Richter Cemetery near Round Top.

Larry Stephen Gajeske of Brenham passed away on Monday, April 22, 2013 at the age of 64.
Funeral services will be held at Brenham Memorial Chapel at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 25, 2013 with Rev. C. Kay Reed officiating. Graveside interment will follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Brenham Memorial Chapel from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., tonight, Wednesday, April 24th.
Larry Gajeske is survived by: son John Gajeske and Tammy, granddaughters Hanna and Savanna; son Thomas Gajeske and wife Windy, granddaughter Amelia; brothers Michael Gajeske and Robert Gajeske and their families and longtime companion Virginia Meschwitz.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Mark Appelt of Brenham; grandchildren Derek Raymond Krause and fiancé, Emilee Cooper, as well as numerous cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, DeLois Inez Drews, his parents, Ed and Lorina Drews, and a son-in-law, Dale Krause.

Debra Ann Stiewert, age 49, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2013 in College Station.
Debra had been the number one resident at Brenham State School when it opened January 15, 1974 and is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Stiewert.
Debra Stiewert is survived by her father Hubert Stiewert, Jr. of Carmine; brother and sister-in-law Ricky and Diane Stiewert of Hallettsville; nieces Shannon and Eric Bludau, Amber and Paul Sklar, Kristi and Kyle Prasek and great-niece and great-nephews Braden and Brock Bludau and Ty and Reese Sklar.

Elda Gajeske, 89, widow of Bennie Gajeske, passed away April 9, 2013 in Brenham Rest Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Eben-Ezer Lutheran Church of Berlin, with Pastor Ken Weiss officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Monday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Cheryl Gajeske of Houston; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and James Korth of Brenham; grandson, Aaron W. Gajeske of Port Orange, Florida, and sister Myrtle Winkelmann and brother-in-law Delphine Schilling, both of Brenham. She had a close and loving relationship with her sisters, and they were able to celebrate many birthdays, Easter and Christmas holidays for the family over the years, providing many special memories for the entire family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Hilda Mertz; husband, Bennie Gasjeske; brother-in-law Reinhardt Winkelmann, and a sister, Gladys Schilling.

Thomas Carlton “Tom” Blake, 89, died Wednesday, April 8, 2013 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
Born March 18, 1924 in Brenham, to Taul Clymer and Mabel (Wright) Blake, Tom was a 1942 Brenham High School graduate and attended Blinn College. On March 5, 1977, he married Marjorie Dahms.
Tom’s early journalist years and life-long occupation began as a reporter-sports editor for Brenham Banner Press and radio station KWHI, 1945-1960; sports information director at Texas A&M University, 1960-1963; city hall reporter, regional editor, columnist at Southwest Times Record at Fort Smith, Arkansas, January 1964-July 1, 1992 (retirement).
Memberships and honors include: Texas Sports Writers Association, chairman of TSWA Class AA high school all-state football teams, 1948-1954; Brenham Maifest Hall of Fame, inducted 1998; Spirit of the Frontier award City of Fort Smith, Arkansas, 1999; Brenham High School Football Hall of Honor, inducted 2000. He served on the Administrative Boards at both Brenham, 1924-1964 and Fort Smith First United Methodist Churches.
Preceding him in death were his parents and son Thomas Carlton Blake, Jr. Surviving family members include: wife Marjorie Dahms Blake of Fort Smith; son Kelly Blake of Greenwood, Arkansas; daughters Elizabeth “Betsy” Berrier of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Nancy Blake of Cumming, Georgia; step-daughters Sandra Jones and Patty Smith of Fort Smith, Becky Hargrove of Rogers, Arkansas; stepson Donnie Howell of Claremore, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and his beloved dog Tiger.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 11th from noon until funeral service begins at 2:00 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dale Chance officiating. Interment follows at Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Lillie Wehring Schroeder, age 102 of Brenham and the widow of Otto Schroeder, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013 in Kruse Lutheran Memorial Village.
She is survived by: daughter, Gloria Schroeder Ehlert of Brenham; grandsons; Melvin Ehlert, Jr., Pat Ehlert of Brenham, Jeffrey Ehlert of Austin, Scott Ehlert and wife Rebecca of Pflugerville; great-grandchildren, Anna Ehlert of London, England, Chip Ehlert and wife Danielle of Killeen, Andy Ehlert of Austin and Lillie Ehlert of Pflugerville; special niece Marcia Thompson of Houston; numerous nieces, nephews and wonderful friends.
