Mildred (Lacina) Mahlmann, age 103 of Brenham and the widow of Walter Mahlmann, passed away Saturday, April 6th.
Her surviving loving family includes: sons and daughters-in-law, Olan and Kay Mahlmann of Kerville, Dennis and Rosemary Mahlmann of Brenham, Margie Mahlmann of Bellville; grandchildren, Steven and Lori Mahlmann, Deborah and Art Ramirez, Raelyn and Mike Stolowski, Heath and Jennifer Mahlmann, Matthew and Whitney Mahlmann, Michael and Jackie Mahlmann David Mahlmann, Andrew Mahlmann; brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Louise “Squekie” Lacina.
Visitation with the Mahlmann family will be this evening from 5:30 until rosary is recited at 7:00 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial for Mildred Mahlmann will be held Tuesday, April 9th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Ernesto Elizondo as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Hospice Brazos Valley.

Funeral services for August T. “Tootie” Eldridge, 79, of Somerville, are set for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 6, 2013 at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Victoria Simons officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2013, with the family present. Visitation will resume on Saturday, April 6th at 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. “Tootie” went to be with his Lord Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care Systems Hospital in Temple.
“Tootie”, as he was known to almost everyone, was born August 26, 1933 in Washington County, Texas, the son of John Turner and Rosa Frieda (Dietrich) Eldridge. He graduated from Somerville High School. He was drafted into the Army and served from 1954 until 1956. After his discharge, he went back to school and received his Associates Degree from Blinn College in 1958. Tootie worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a Carman for many years and was an active member of the Somerville Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Unit. He was instrumental in getting Little League started in Somerville and was the announcer for the Somerville Yegua Football team for many years. Tootie was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Somerville and enjoyed being a member of the Somerville Senior Center.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorothy Louise (Murphy) Eldridge in 1989; his brothers, Karl Henry, Virge, Billy, and Jimmy; and his sisters, Carrie Charanza, Emma Campise, and Patricia Gill.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette (Griffin) Eldridge of Somerville; his sons and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Paula Eldridge of Brenham, Mark Eldridge of Houston, his stepsons, Mike Gilley and Mark Gilley, both of Texas City; his daughters and sons-in-law, Lesa and Steve Jurek of Port Lavaca and Stacey and Brian Gaskamp of Brenham; his brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Arlie Eldridge of Humble; brother-in-law, Sam Campise of Waller; sisters-in-law, Linda Eldridge of Copperas Cove and Barbara Eldridge of Houston; his grandchildren, Shannon Chavana of Victoria, Cody Jurek of Austin, Amanda Klehm, Turner Eldridge, of Brenham, Shala Eldridge, all of Brenham; his great grandson, Logan “Peanut” Chavana of Victoria; his great-granddaughter, Tinley Klehm of Brenham; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews, and other relatives.
Family members have requested that memorials be made to Central Texas Veteran’s Health Care System, 1901 Veteran’s Memorial Blvd., Temple, TX 76504 or to The Somerville Senior Citizens Center.

Rita Klehm, 79, of Brenham and the widow of Edgar Klehm passed away Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013 in Brenham.
Rita Klehm is survived by son Thomas Klehm, grandchildren Joshua, Christian, Stephen, Hosanna, Cherith, Jonathan and Bethany; sister-in-law Christa Kretschmer in Berlin, Germany, Gladys Vollert, Florence Klehm, Lillie Mae Klehm Gross; niece Claudia Kretschmer, two great-nieces and one great nephew.
Visitation with the Klehm family will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2013 in Brenham Memorial Chapel.
Funeral service for Rita Klehm will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2013 in Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Mark Groves and Rev. Walt Schindehette officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Nora Lorene (Weinert) Braun, widow of Edward E. Brown, passed away April 1, 2013 in St. Mark’s Hospital in LaGrange, at the age of 102. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Carmine with Pastor David Tinker officiating. Interment will be in the Carmine Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.
Nora married Edward E. Braun on Dec. 4, 1938, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 1986. She was also predeceased by her parents, one brothers and one sister. Survivors include special friends Ronnie and Rene Zwernemann, and their sons, Randall and Raylon. She was a member of the Martin Luther Lutheran Church, and the Ladies Aid. Memorials may be directed to Martin Luther Lutheran Church of Carmine.

Theresa Wisniewski Meyer, age 102, died Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was the widow of Carl C. Meyer. Mrs. Meyer’s surviving family includes: nieces and nephews, Esther (Kenneth) Goessler, Dorothy (Albin) Ciegelski, Stephanie (Harry) Kubeczka, Mary Shaw, Rose Boike, Frank (Gail) Wisniewski, Jr., Harry (Dolores) Bronikowski and special great-niece Kathleen Goessler Weiss. Gerardo Portales was born on October 3, 1960 in Nueva Rosita Coahuila, Mexico to Joaquin & Ernestina (Nunez) Portales. He married Leticia Gonzalez on October 19, 2007 in Elgin, Texas. Gerardo worked in the oil field and had been employed by CC Forbes.
He passed away the morning of Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. David's Medical Center in Austin.
Gerardo is survived by his wife, Leticia Portales of Lexington; four sons, Gerardo & Yuvisela Portales Jr. of La Grange, Javier & Dolores Portales of California, Joshua Portales of Giddings and Jessie Portales of Giddings; daughter, Jessica & Chris Galvan of Giddings; grandson, Adam Portales of California; four granddaughters, Madison Portales of Serbin, Naryah Galvan of Giddings, Gisela Portales of La Grange and Yesenia Portales of La Grange; his parents, Joaquin & Ernestina Portales of Monterrey, Mexico; four brothers, Carlos Joaquin & Rosie Portales of Mexico, Eduardo & Mayra Portales of Houston, Roberto & Lourdes Portales of Paige and Armando & Yolanda Portales of Mexico as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
