Erwin “Skipper” Ganske age 91 of Brenham passed away Thursday, October 25, 2012 at his residence.
Erwin “Skipper” Ganske was employed with the National Biscuit Company in Houston before working for Brenham Wholesale Company for 37 years.
Erwin Ganske is survived by his wife Ruth Lorenz-Ganske; other survivors include children, Geraldine Buck and Jerry (Peggy) Ganske; grandchildren, Lisa (Larry) Grebe, Tresa Ganske, Karen (Rich) Nelson, Gina (Jerry) Cross, Christian Buck, Greg (Sara) Ganske, Kim (Sam) Rooker; step-children, Janet (Arthur) Daniel, Eunice (James) Schulz, Beatrice “BB” (Johnnie) Kmiec; step-grandchildren, Patrick (Brooke) Koronka, Kate Koronka-Quinn, Matthew Daniel, Zane (Misty) Schulz, Justin (Emilie) Kmiec, Travis (Cori) Kmiec; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Barry Ganske and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the Ganske family will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27, 2012 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services for Erwin Ganske will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2012 in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. Rev. Alan Kethan will officiate. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Bob Franklin Swor, 79, passed away October 21, 2012 in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Byron and Ludi Swor of Austin, and Blake and Cory Swor of Brenham; daughters Brenda Calvin of Brenham, and Belinda Childers and husband Bruce of Rathdrum, Idaho; grandchildren: Rachael Calvin of Brenham, Michael and Heather M. Calvin of Escandito, California, Heather R. Calvin of Nashville, TN., Marshall Childers of Boise, Idaho, Miranda Childers of Idaho, Brianna Swor, Ryan Swor, Lawson Swor, Cooper Swor, all of Brenham, Aaron Swor, and Aiden Swor of Austin; great-grandchildren Alyah Valera-Childers of Rathdrum, Idaho, and Terrance Calvin of Brenham, as well as nieces, nephews, and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two grandchildren, Dillon and Derek Dodd.

June Hope Burford Geick passed away peacefully at her home in Brenham with family by her side on Monday, October 15, 2012.
June is survived by: her husband of 57 years, Arthur Al Geick; two children, Susan Geick and David A. Geick; granddaughter, Lauren Hope Juliano. She is also survived by a brother Ben Burford of Charleston, West Virginia and several nieces and nephews in West Virginia and Ohio.
The family asks in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church, Hospice Brazos Valley or the charity of your choice. A memorial service for June Geick will be held Thursday, October 25th at 2:00 PM in Saint Peter’s Episcopal Church with the Reverend David Ottsen officiating. A reception will be held immediately after the service in St. Peter’s Parish Hall.

Joann Hall, 76 of Brenham and the widow of Pankey G. Hall, passed away Thursday, October 18, 2012.

Aline Knebel, 85, widow of Elton Knebel, died October 17, 2012 in Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village. Stanley Herman Jurchak went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2012, while residing at Kruse Village in Brenham, Texas.
Survivors are step-daughter, Diane Fischer of Houston; sister, Gladys Oakley of Bellville; sister-in-law, Genevieve Michael of Colorado; brother-in-law, Jay C. Buenger of Industry; loving caregivers, nephew Dr. Bruce Buenger and his wife Cheryl and sons, Jess Buenger and fiancé, Amanda Lawler, and Justin Buenger; nephew Dr. Greg Buenger and his wife, Anneta and children, Jay and Elizabeth Buenger, Clint and Sarah Buenger and son, Jack and Kate Buenger. Also surviving are many cousins and friends. Stanley is preceded in death by his wife, his parents, stepson, Maurice David Fischer, and sisters, Bernita Buenger and Florence Jurchak.
A memorial service will be held at Welcome Lutheran Church, 13636 FM 109, Welcome, Texas on Sunday, September 16th at 5:00 p.m. Pastor Jill Vivroux will officiate.

Wilfred Schroeder, age 81 of Brenham, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012 at Brenham Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Mr. Schroeder’s surviving loving family includes: sisters, Hilda Lucas and Mandy Denton; and niece, Christine Schroeder.

Bennie Otto Wilhelm Jensen, 90, Born May 23, 1922 in Washington, Texas, the son of Henry and Malinda Bosse Jensen died September 9, 2012 at Scott & White hospital, Brenham.
Bennie was baptized July 23, 1922 at Friedens Church of Washington by Rev. Grotenfend. Sponsors were: Otto and Willie Lohmeyer, Willie Bosse and Willie Lauter. He was confirmed December 26, 1937 at Friedens Church of Washington by Rev. Schwengel. He wed Willie Mae Schramme on December 15, 1946 at St. John Lutheran Church at Prairie Hill by Rev. P. Goglin with Bible verse: Ruth 1:16. Witnesses: Willie Jensen, Willie Mae Herzog Reeves, Walter and Bernadine Meyer, Babe Riechers and Mildred Boring.
Bennie was proud of his time in the service of his country. He, along with his brothers, were drafted in WWII. His brother, Henry, gave the ultimate sacrifice in Italy. Bennie spoke so often of his time in the service, being drafted October 30, 1942 and serving as a TS Signal Operator and Radar Operator, in the 9th 1 WAW Platoon, Co. B 583rd Signal Group. He served in Bismarck Archipelago; Good Enough Island, New Guinea; the Southern Philippines and Luzon. He was decorated with: Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbons, Victory Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. His first invasion was January 1, 1943 in Sada, New Guinea. His discharge was December 16, 1945.
A life time resident of Washington, he resided on the Heritage Farm 1867 land.
Bennie grew up on the farm and ranch until he was drafted. After returning from the war and marriage, he worked for the Washington County Road and Bridge Department. He then joined in the family business: dairy, grocery store, swine farm and restaurant. He spent many hours tending to his orchards and gardens, at times having six gardens at once. The Banner Press ran an article October 5, 1952: Rewards given to Bennie Jensen of Washington after producing outstanding corn crops and displaying them in the Jr. Chamber of Commerce Corn Growing Contest held at the Washington County Fair. The grand championship was given for growing 107 bushels of corn to the acre.
Bennie was a founding member of the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, member of Friedens Church of Washington, serving on the church council and Washington County Farm Bureau director during the construction of the East Academy Street Building. Bennie was well know as an avid conversationalist and like his father – never met a stranger.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters and brothers: Ervin, Minnie, Melvin, Annie Bill, Henry and Lawrence Jensen; brothers – in – law: Willie C. Holle, Elmer Kutzer and Ernst Nuernberger; sister - in - law: Ida Schramme Kutzer Nuernberger; daughter - in - law: Suzette S. Jensen; and son-in-law: Bobbie L. Oberhoff.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years: Willie Mae Schramme Jensen; sister, Olga J. Holle; children, Billy and Donna Jensen, Linda J. Oberhoff, Mark and Carol Jensen and Robert O. Jensen; Grandchildren, Jon Jensen, Larry Jensen, Thresia & Keith Schlabach, Jared and Brooke Jensen, Zachary And Leann Jensen and Todd Jensen; Great Grandchildren, Emily Jensen, Hailey English, Hunter and Mitchell Schlabach, Paige Jensen, Madison Jensen and Brody Jensen.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Memorial may be given to Friedens Church of Washington, P.O. Box 306, Washington, TX 77880 or the Washington Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 50, Washington, TX 77880.
Services will be held Wednesday September 12, 2012 at Friedens Church of Washington, FM 1155 at Bosse Rd., Washington, TX at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Glen Schoenberg officiating.

Irene Bohne Frye-Schroeder, 87, of Brenham, died Sept. 4, 2012 at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2012 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill, with Pastor Kris Brower officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives at St. Matthew Lutheran Church preceding the service on Friday, beginning at 12 noon.

Schroeder and wife Mary of Downey, CA, and daughters Teri Kay Schroeder Loehnert and husband John Loehnert, and children Jason, Megan and Erin of Lakewood, CA, Sheri Rae Schroeder Tagg and husband Brian Tagg, and children Nick, Chris, Josh and Hannah of Poway, CA; brothers-in-law Dover D. Schroeder of Houston, Roger T. Schroeder and wife Elvera of Brenham; sisters-in-law Lois Frye Jewell of Longview, Audrey Schroeder Kennedy of Mexia, and Bernell Schroeder Dimousch of Bryan. Also surviving is an extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends made during her working career and during her retirement years. Irene had a special love and affection for her niece, Janita Frye Griggs and husband, Garney, of Houston, and for a special nephew, Stephen Broadus and wife Ann of New York City. A special thanks and gratitude for the years of love and friendship shared with the family of James and Charlene Kenjura and children, Candace, Christopher and wife, Danica, and Derrick and wife Brooke.

Richard Alan “Dick” Boll, 73, of Brenham, husband of Sally (Brock) Boll, died Sept. 2, 2012 at his residence. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012 at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with Pastor Brent Hampton officiating.
