Ivy G. Smith age 97 of Brenham and the widow of Travis L. Smith passed away Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Scott & White Hospital-Brenham.
Mrs. Ivy G. Smith is survived by her sister Erna Mae Graham, sister-in-law Janie Gummelt, two grandchildren, Greg Smith and wife Leslie and Elizabeth Lehrmann and husband Hollis, three great-grandchildren William Hollis, Victoria and Alexandria Lehrmann, daughter-in-law Pat Smith-Wendler and her husband William Wendler, nieces and nephews Mike Gummelt, Ricky Gummelt, Tammy and Gary Buro, Ella Maud and Reinhardt Kramer, Ivy and Wesley Kettler, Martha Monroe, Edward and Shirley Neumann, Ernest and Linda Neumann, Dwayne and Tammy Brauner, Ernest and Sharon Brauner, Marie and Herman Sebastian, Sandy and Howard Lyness, Glenn and Jolene Geick, Faye and Steve DeSolo, also great-nieces and great nephews and other family members including William “Bill” Hill III.
A memorial service is set for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 11 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Rev. Glen Schoeneberg will officiate. Immediately after the service the family will receive friends and guests at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to American Kidney Foundation or charity of choice.

Lillie Mae (Naumann) Kramer, 88, of Brenham, passed away Monday, March 5, 2012 in Kruse Village.
Lillie Mae Kramer is survived by his son Ken Kramer and wife Diane of Austin; granddaughter Katherine Ann Kramer of Los Angeles, CA; sisters and brother-in-law Nora and Lee Roy Meier of Kenney and Ruth Kelling of Brenham; sisters-in-law Ruby Naumann and Evelyn Naumann, both of Brenham, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Lillie Mae Kramer will be from 5-7 pm on Sunday, March 11, 2012 in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 1:30 pm, Monday, March 12 in Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Walt Schindehette officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery.

Leola Louise Hulda Hinze Althaus, 95, of Burton, passed away March 7, 2012 in Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Giddings. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Round Top, with Pastor John David Nedbalek officiating. Burial will take place in La Bahia Cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday evening from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. at Foehner Funeral Home in Burton.

Edmund Schaefer, 91, husband of Leona Hensen Schaefer, died March 6, 2012 in Bluebonnet Hills Care Center. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 9 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham with Father David Ivey officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Brenham. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, March 8 at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Survivors include his wife, Leona Henson Schaefer of Brenham; son, Jerry L. Schaefer of Brenham; grandchildren: Leah and Todd Calder and Leslie and Jeff Kurtz, great-grandchildren: Jordan Schaefer, Madeline Brook Calder, Carson Calder, Kyle and Hope Kurtz; and brothers and sisters, Leroy Schaefer, Verna Mae Sefcik, Adolph Schaefer, Jr., Edgar Schaefer and Elsie Horak. Preceding him in death were his parents, brother Ervin Schaefer and sister Hildagard Schaefer.

Peggy Ann Murch
(October 3, 1934 - May 2, 2012)
Peggy Ann Murch entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the age of 77.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 4, 2012 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings, Texas. The family will be available from 4:00 – 6:00 PM. A graveside service will be at Colonial Gardens Mausoleum in Marshall, Texas on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 4:00 PM.
Peggy was born on November 3, 1934 in Perry, Oklahoma to Laurence G. Hoggatt and Opal Hyde. A graduate of Perry High School, she was united in marriage to Donald Eugene Murch on December 22, 1951 in Perry, Oklahoma. Peggy and her husband moved to Giddings in 1979. She was employed by and retired from Walmart in Giddings, Texas. She was a loving and devoted homemaker. She enjoyed nature, traveling, reading and spending time with family members.
Peggy leaves behind her husband Donald Eugene of 60 years, her daughters, Joyce Anette Thornhill and Donna Jean Murch and her son William David Murch.
She was blessed with five grand children April Jean Ainsworth, Christina Elizabeth Lykke, Samuel Allen Thornhill, William Casey Murch and Justice Grace Murch. She also had five great grand children.
She was preceded in death by her Father, Mother and brothers, Jimmy and Johnny Hoggatt.
Edward Henry Meschewitz, 88, widower of Annie (Houdek) Meschewitz, died March 3, 2012 in Scott and White Hospital in Temple. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 7, 2012 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham, with burial in Calvary Catholic Cemetery to follow. Msgr. Benedict Zientek is Celebrant. Visitation will begin at 6pm Tuesday, at Memorial Oaks Chapel, followed by a Rosary at 7pm under the direction of the Knights of Columbus Council #3287.
Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Glen and Gayle Meschewitz; daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and George Jurica, all of Brenham; grandchildren: Grant Meschewitz, Holly and Ahmad Fahkri; great-grandchildren: Julie, Sarah, and Zein Fahkri, and Brett Jurica and fiancé Elizabeth Stanley. Also surviving is Edward’s special friend, Annie Fritz of Brenham, and a brother and sister, Alex Meschewitz and Mary Meschwitz, both of Brenham. He was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Meschewitz in 1999, his parents, and a brother, Andrew “Gabby” Meschewitz.

Elwood Wehring, 79 of the Sandy Hill Community and the husband of Eloise (Ellermann) Wehring, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012.
Mr. Wehring is survived by: his wife, Eloise Wehring; daughter, Missy Boutch and husband Greg; son, Mike Wehring and wife Gayle; grandchildren, Garrett Sunderhuse, Taylor Smith; brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Kathy Wehring; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Charlie and Melva Ellermann, Virginia and Brian Fischer, Sandra and Ralph Becker; numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation with the Wehring family will be Saturday, March 3rd from 5-7 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services for Elwood Wehring will be Sunday, March 4th at 2 p.m. at St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Mary Helen (Schulte) Cade, 77, of Brenham and the widow of William “Buddy” Cade, passed away Monday, February 27, 2012, at Scott & White Hospital-Brenham.
Survivors include her brother, F.C. “Sonny” Schulte and wife Doris, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Schulte and Ann McKnight, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Thursday, March 1st from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services for Mary Helen (Schulte) Cade will be Friday, March 2nd at 2 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel with Rev. Virgil Pecht officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Funeral services for Lydia Adamek Weidemann, 92, a lifelong resident of Burleson County, are set for 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2012 at First Lutheran Church in Somerville with Rev. Allen Keethan officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery in Somerville. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday with the family present between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Somerville. Mrs. Weidemann died Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Copperas Hollow Nursing Home in Caldwell.
Lydia was born August 7, 1919, in the Merle Community near Snook, the daughter of Henry and Mary Valchar Adamek. She was Baptized in Snook on September 28, 1919 and was Confirmed in 1935 at the Snook Brethren Church. She was married to Gus H. Weidemann, Jr. on January 29, 1941 in Somerville. She worked in the school lunchroom for a number of years and then went to work as a clerk in the Somerville I.G.A. Grocery Store. For a long time, well into her 80’s, Lydia drove to Snook every morning to make Kolaches for the Snook Bakery. She remained a faithful member of First Lutheran Church of Somerville as well as WELCA; and Sunday School for many years. She was also very active and held the office of Sgt. At Arms for the Somerville American Legion Auxillary for a number of years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Joe Adamek, Sr. and Henry Adamek, Jr.; and her sisters, Mary Macik, Milady Junek, Valasta Victorick, Tracy Gaas, Annie Hejl, and Ella Mae Macik. Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Schendel of Somerville; her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Patty Weidemann of Stephenville; her grandchildren, Guy Hargrove, Joy Hargrove, Rodney Weidemann, Randy Weidemann, and Ryan Weidemann; her great-grandchildren, Abigail Guerrero, Christopher Mills, Michael Hargrove, Mark Hargrove, and Dane Weidemann; her great-great-grandchildren, Julie Hargrove, Dylan Guerrero, and Kaden Guerrero; along with numerous other relatives.

Doris Evelyn Gregory, 79, of Brenham, died August 13, 2005, at her residence.
Mrs. Gregory was born November 20, 1925, in the Gay Hill community of Washington County, Texas, to Louis and Clara Werchan Richter. She was baptized at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill by Pastor R.J. Weber and was confirmed in the same church. Mrs. Gregory was an aide at Brenham Rest Home.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Herbert Dietzman, in 1963; her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Lorine and Melvin Winkelmann; two brothers, Wilbert Richter and Barry Richter; and brother-in-law, Lonnie Koehn.
Survivors include her sister, Viola Koehn of Brenham; sisters-in-law, Willie Mae Richter and Mildred Richter, both of Brenham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 17 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Gay Hill with Pastor Virgil Pecht officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. tonight in Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Kristofer Koehn, Ryan Bender, James Richter, Dennis Richter, Gary Winkelmann and Harper Muery.
Memorials may be given to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill.
