Jack Ancone, Sr.
February 28, 1921 - April 5, 2012
Jack Ancone, Sr., 91 of Brenham, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012 with his family by his side.
Jack was born February 28, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York to parents Michele and Rose (Mattiaci) Ancone. On September 2, 1940 he married the love of his life Grace Benevento in Brooklyn, New York. Jack was a member of the Teamster’s Union and worked for many years with Mike Hopkins Distributing as a truck driver. Jack is a U.S. Army veteran and served in Japan during the war.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Brenham. Other memberships include Golden Age Club, the Italian Club where he served as president, Elk’s Lodge, Moose Lodge and Rocking Chair Drifters RV Travel Club, where he served as president and with which he visited 48 states and Canada. He loved dancing, cooking, playing bingo and cards, but his greatest joy was being with his family who will always remember their Papas wisdom, “Don’t take no wooden nickels.”
Preceding him in death were parents, wife Grace and children Ernest, Robert and Donna Ancone.
His family includes children and their spouses, Michael and Dallas Ancone of Moorpark, California, Jack D. and Laurel Ancone of Brenham, Steve and Cindy Ancone of Burton, Jacki and Craig Steele of Brenham; grandchildren, Lori Brosseit, Michael Ancone and wife Michelle, Alexandrea Ancone, Wendy King, Giacomino Ancone and wife Kristy, Steven Ancone, Ashley Campbell, husband Jared and soon to be baby Grace Ann, Matthew Steele, wife Jennifer and baby Steele, Carli Steele, Joseph Steele; great-grandchildren, Tanya, Michelle and Lexi Brosseit, Amber Hayes, John and Ashleigh Moore, Avery Ancone, Gia Grace and Lila Marie Ancone, and great-great granddaughter Renada Garrett, as well as sisters Theresa Ancone and Mary Friedman; extended family Candi Smith and Bonnie Ancone.
Beginning on Monday, April 9, 2012 at 10:00 am, the family will receive relatives and friends at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Graveside service with Military honors and interment to follow at 11:30 am at Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pastor Tim Webb will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Steve Ancone, Michael Ancone, Matthew Steele, Joseph Steele, Jared Campbell, Taylor Zdunkewicz and Matthew Parmer.

Nevilee Toppel Dallmeyer
February 9, 1913 - March 1, 2005
Nevilee Toppel Dallmeyer, 92 of Brenham and widow of Erwin O. Dallmeyer, died at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village on March 1, 2005, after a short illness.
Nevilee was born in Burton, Texas on February 9, 1913 to Albert and Ceola Black Toppel. She was educated in the public schools of Burton and received business training from Draughon’s Business College in Houston. Nevilee and Erwin were married on April 6, 1940 in Brenham by Pastor Robert Forrester. After their marriage she joined her husband in the family business, Wm. Dallmeyer and Co. General Merchandise, in Burton, where the Brazos Belle is now located.
During the years her children attended school, Nevilee was active in PTO and scouting and organized the first Brownie troop in Burton. Until leaving Burton after the death of her husband in 1988, she was an active member of St. John’s United Church of Christ of Burton.
After moving to Brenham, she became a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brenham. She was also a member of the women of the ELCA's Tuesday Morning Circle, the Brenham Fine Arts League (a member since 1967), the Arts Department of the Fortnightly Club of Brenham, the Heritage Society of Washington County (life member), and other civic and arts organizations. Friends will remember Nevilee for the love and care she showed to all persons whose lives she touched.
In 1967 she began studying art and developed a true gift for creating oil paintings of area bluebonnets and wildlife scenes. Her work is included in private collections throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Her husband, Erwin O. Dallmeyer preceded her in death on June 7, 1988. Also preceding her in death were her parents, her stepfather Henry C. Buck, and her sisters Corinne Toppel Caraway and Mary Lou Wehrman Burns, and nephew Thomas Caraway.
Survivors include daughter, Marilyn Dallmeyer Sager of Seguin; son, Erwin C. (Buddy) Dallmeyer and his wife Jeanell of Brenham; grandchildren, Anne Sager McKinnerney and her husband John of Austin, Elizabeth Sager Don Carlos and her husband Randy of Austin, Amy Dallmeyer of Brenham, and Andrew Dallmeyer and his wife Heather of Pflugerville; great-grandchildren, William and Grace McKinnerney of Austin and Mason Dallmeyer of Pflugerville; nephews and nieces, Frank Caraway of Houston, Dr. W. W. Wendt and wife Doris of McQueeney, Vivian Wendt Belo and husband Johnny of St. Mary's, Georgia, Stephen Wendt of Shreveport, Louisiana, Dr. Carl G. Langner and wife Ann of Canyon Lake, Lisa Langner Perrine and husband Cal of Canyon Lake, Fred Langner and wife Nancy of Austin, and Marlene Caraway of Houston; numerous cousins and friends.
Friends are invited to visitation with the family at Brenham Memorial Chapel from 6:30 until 8 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2005. A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 303 W. 3rd St., Brenham, on Friday, March 4, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Lawrence Bade, Rev. Kim Little-Brooks and Rev. Glen Schoeneberg will officiate. A private family graveside service is being held in Burton.
Active pallbearers are Ira Allen, Tommy Avis, Darrell Blum, Rick Buls, Quin Kroll, Dennis Landua, E. J. Muehlbrad, Harold Sager, and Otto Wehring. Honorary pallbearers are Kinch Adamek, Charles Blake, J. R. Bredthauer, Kim Coker, Dr. W. O. Dietrich, Brian Fischer, Alton Gasaway, Paul LaRoche, Otto Lehrmann, Lorenz Seidel, John Utesch and Luther Utesch.

Isabel A. Sehlke, 92, of Burton, died Nov. 12, 2003, in Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham.
Mrs. Sehlke was born Jan. 28, 1911, in Washington County, TX, to Charles and Otillia Draeger Lamp. She attended Burton schools.
On Feb. 12, 1931, she married Edward Louis Sehlke in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Gay Hill. Mrs. Sehlke was a homemaker and was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rehburg.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Ruby Sehlke of Brenham; daughters and son-in-law, Betty Hohlt of Brenham and Clarice and Bobby Bredthauer of Bryan; brother, Henry Becker of San Antonio; 5 grandchildren, Allen Hohlt and wife Connie, Pastor Glenn Hohlt, Kevin Hohlt and wife Cathie, Craig Hohlt and Byron Bredthauer; and 3 great-grandchildren, Neal Hohlt, Megan Hohlt, and Brittany Hohlt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward Sehlke on April 11, 1984; son-in-law, Elmer Hohlt; grandson, Robert Sehlke; three brothers; and three sisters.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rehburg with Pastor Larry Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday in Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Howard Giese, Allen Hohlt, Pastor Glenn Hohlt, Kevin Hohlt, Craig Hohlt and Byron Bredthauer.

September 23, 1939 - March 1, 2015
Caroline Gurka, 75 of Brenham, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 3rd from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. with rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, March 4th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Ernesto Elizondo as celebrant. Interment will follow in Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Her grandchildren, Justin Nobles, Kurt Tappe, Kirby Tappe, Jordan Tappe, Julie Garner and Megan Krolczyk, will serve as pallbearers.
Caroline Josephine Gurka was born September 23, 1939 in Hempstead, Texas to Theodore and Pearly (Wisnieski) Gurka. Caroline retired from Walmart, where she was employed as a stocker in women’s apparel.
She was preceded in death by parents and brother Theodore “T.J.” Gurka.

Ida Florence Budell, 65 of Lufkin, Texas and formerly of Burton, died Friday, March 4, 2005 in Memorial Hospital, Lufkin.
Ida was born August 3, 1939 in Neshoba County, Mississippi to Newton Warren and Velma (Griffin) Wilkerson.
She was preceded in death by her father, a son, a daughter, and her husband Jimmie L Budell on September 13, 1994.
Survivors include her mother, Velma Wilkerson of Louin, Mississippi; sons, Charles Poole of Bryan, Joe Budell of Kerrville; daughters, Frances Burrow of Lufkin, Susan Dodson of Palestine; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Tom Wilkerson of Magnolia, Raymond Wilkerson of Louin, Mississippi; sisters, Mable Smith of Glenwood, Arkansas, Alene Loper of Sebestpol, Mississippi, Mary Finely of Union, Mississippi, Bonnie Hunter of Magnolia, Jeanell Hill of Cut and Shoot.

Verlin Schulz Wiesepape
March 26, 1920 - March 6, 2005
Verlin Schulz Wiesepape, 84, of the Brenham Salem Community, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to heaven the morning of March 6, 2005.
The family will receive friends and relatives Wednesday, March 9, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 10, 2005, at 10:30 AM at Salem Lutheran Church near Brenham with Rev. Bill Derrick officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Cemetery near La Grange at 2:30 PM.
Mrs. Wiesepape was born March 26, 1920, in the La Grange Community. She was baptized on October 17, 1920, in Swiss Alp Lutheran Church and confirmed August 13, 1933, at Black Jack Trinity Lutheran Church near La Grange. Before her death, she was a member of Salem Lutheran Church.
She was a homemaker who was faithful to her God and loved her family dearly. She enjoyed dancing and card and domino games with family and friends as well as gardening and tending her African violets. She devoted much of her time to church activities at Eben-Ezer Lutheran, First Christian Church and Salem Lutheran Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Jewel Kay and her husband Paul of Dripping Springs; son, Kenneth Schulz and his wife Linda-Marie of Austin; grandchildren, Steven Schulz and his wife Lissa of Austin, Denise Schulz of Austin, David Schulz and his wife Betsy of Cedar Park; step-grandson, Timothy Kay and his wife Helen of Kyle; great-grandchildren, Emily Schulz, Nathan Schulz; step-great-granddaughter, Cicely Kay; one brother, Elton Jochen and his wife Ruby; sister-in-law, Ruby Kiesling of La Grange; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband Otto H. Wiesepape in 1998, her first husband Arnold A. Schulz in 1962, and her parents Laura Lueders and George Jochen.
The family wishes to thank the doctors who treated her, the kind and loving staff of Gracy Woods I Nursing Center of Austin, who cared for her the last two year, and Odyssey Hospice, who provided comfort in her final days.

Herbert Hugo Ladewig, 89, of College Station, died Nov. 12, 2003, in College Station.
Mr. Ladewig was born Jan. 31, 1914, in Colorado County, TX, to Louis and Hattie Ladewig. On Nov. 24, 1938, he married Emma Christensen in Danevang Lutheran Church in Danevang.
Mr. Ladewig was retired from Texas A&M; University maintenance in the animal science department and was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in College Station.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Donald and Nancy Ladewig of Bryan and Howard and Kathy Ladewig of Gainsville, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Terri Snider, Nathan Ladewig, Tammi Caskey and Traci Morgan; 5 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Lester Ladewig of Louise and Eugene Ladewig of El Campo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emma Ladewig; two brothers and four sisters.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 in Danevang Cemetery, near El Campo, with Rev. Craig Borchardt officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Peace Lutheran Church in College Station.
