Marguerite Booth, 98 of Brenham and the widow of George C. Booth, passed away Friday, October 30, 2015 in Brenham. Alton Alvin Namken

Alton Alvin Namken was born on February 25, 1924 in Giddings, Texas to Henry & Selma (Fischer) Namken. He was baptized on March 16, 1924 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. William Mueller and confirmed on March 12, 1940 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church by Rev. William Mueller. His confirmation verse was 1 Cor. 6:20 "Ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's." He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and obtained the rank of Private First Class before receiving his Honorable Discharge on November 19, 1946. Alton was united in marriage to Esther Mittasch on November 25, 1948 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings. Their marriage was blessed with five children, Eugene "Gene", Linda, Kay, Debbie & Ronnie. Alton was a lifelong farmer who served on the board of directors of the Lee County Farmers Co-Op and as a committeeman for the Lee County Farm Service Agency. He was an active member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings where he had served on the church council and as an usher. Alton was a member of the VFW Post 4475 and the American Legion Post 276 in Giddings. He enjoyed riding his tractor and gator and being around his grandchildren.
Alton passed away during the early morning hours of Sunday, February 5, 2012 at St. Mark's Medical Center in La Grange at the age of 87.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry & Selma Namken; granddaughter, Jessica Oltmann; two brothers, John & his wife, Berndine Namken and Leroy Namken; sister, Ruby Markert; brothers-in-law, Herbert Zoch, Leonard Faske, Gilbert Mittasch, Herman Mittasch and Herbert Mittasch and sisters-in-law, Junell Mittasch and Elsie Mittasch.
Alton is survived by his wife of 63 years, Esther Namken of Giddings; five children, Gene & Valerie Namken of Giddings, Linda & Ronnie Oltmann of Giddings, Kay & Chris Oltmann of Allen, Debbie & David Peterson of Lexington and Ronnie & Stacy Namken of Giddings; ten grandchildren, Amber & Seth Spacek of Lincoln, Casey & Louise Namken of Manheim, Brandon Oltmann of Giddings, Heather Sowders of Giddings, Jonathan & Sarah Oltmann of Dallas, Justin & Tricia Peterson of Temple, Jordan & Missy Peterson of College Station, McKenna Namken of Giddings, Brooks Namken of Giddings and Leighton Namken of Giddings; five great-grandchildren, Rayghan Stewart of Lincoln, Ashby Spacek of Lincoln, Kennedi Namken of Manheim, Shiloh Sowders of Giddings and Kyle Oltmann of Dallas; two sisters, Lorene Zoch of Giddings and Lillian Faske of Houston; two brothers, Albert Namken of Giddings and Robert & Virginia Namken of Smithville; sisters-in-law, Billie Joe Namken of Houston, Ruth Mittasch of Giddings and Laura Mittasch of Giddings; three brothers-in-law, Edward Markert of Giddings, Willie Mittasch of Giddings and John Mittasch of Houston as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Jeremy Walloch officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Giddings American Legion Post 276 will follow in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, February 6, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday, February 7, 2012 from 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. A prayer service will be held Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and the family will be present for visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Casey Namken, Brandon Oltmann, Jonathan Oltmann, Justin Peterson, Jordan Peterson and Brooks Namken.

Dolores J. Oberrender passed away on October 29, 2015 at her daughter Karen’s home in College Station, Texas at the age of 83. Dolores is survived by: four children and spouses, David and wife Carol of Georgetown, Karen Miller and husband Richard of College Station, Carl and wife Laura of Temple, and Ernest and wife Julie of Brenham; grandchildren, Michael and wife Morgan Oberrender of Dallas, Jacob, and Lauren Oberrender of Georgetown; Mason Miller and girlfriend Rika Williams of Port Lavaca; Claira, Emily, Anna, and Robert Tang Oberrender of Temple; Krystal Oberrender and fiancé Chris Sodolak of Sealy; Sarah and husband Trevor Zwahr, Allan and Jonathan Oberrender, Ryan Goerlitz and girlfriend Hanna Hendrickson and Jamie Goerlitz all of Brenham; great-grandchildren, Chloe and T.J. Zwahr of Brenham; niece Kathy Holtkamp; nephew Charles Holtkamp and wife Mary of Brenham; two great-nieces and two great-nephews, along with numerous cousins, friends and special grand-pups Winnie, Tigger and Pebbles. Judith Lynn (Hovet) Mikeska, 57, of Fayetteville, Texas passed away in the loving arms of her husband, children and grandchildren at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas at 1:59 pm on October 24, 2015. The celebration of Judy’s life will happen Wednesday evening October 28, 2015 at 6:30 PM at Wesley Brethren Church in Wesley, Texas. Guests are asked to bring a dish to share in a potluck meal and to partake in loving fellowship that Judy treasured so dearly. Lorena Schwarze Randermann, 93, of Brenham and the widow of Henry Randermann, Jr., died Sunday, October 18, 2015 at Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Lorena and Henry were owners and operators of Randermann Grocery of Meyersville for over 60 years.
