Herman Bentke, Jr.
Funeral services for Herman Bentke, Jr. are scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, May 30, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church of Prairie Hill. Pastors Jim Abbott and Virgil Pecht will officiate, with burial to follow in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mr. Bentke passed away in Brenham on May 27, 2014, at the age of 76. Survivors include his wife, Donna Jo (Kolwes) Bentke; sons Phil Bentke and wife Amy, and Brad Bentke, all of Brenham; grandchildren: Reagan and Cara Bentke; brother, Raymond Bentke and wife Verna Mae of Houston; sisters Mary Jo Schulz and husband Ervin of Brenham, and Alma Place of Marquez, Texas; sisters-in-law Rosie Bentke, Christine Bentke, Dorothy Bentke, Barbara Kramer, Dorothy Schulte, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Sr. and Emma Bentke; brothers Alfred Bentke, Melvin Bentke, Glenn Bentke; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bill and Georgia Mae Bentke; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Ida and Johnny Kaecheler, and Lois and Fred Ruemke; brothers-in-law Edwin Kramer, Jr., Thomas Schulte, and Benarr Place; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ernest Kolwes and Elsie Kolwes Haevischer, and a step father-in-law, Herbert Haevischer. Funeral arrangements for Herman Bentke, Jr. are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.

Laura Bell (Frieda)Williams
Laura Bell (Frieda)Williams, widow of George Williams, died May 20, 2014 at Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham, at the age of 92. A private graveside service is scheduled at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church Cemetery of Gay Hill, with Pastor Alan Kethan officiating. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law Hank and Kip Sohns of Rogersville, MO; daughter and son-in-law Sandra and Leonard Finke of Spring; grandchildren Scott Finke and wife Jana and Robyn Brooks and husband Matt; great-grandchildren Meredith Finke, and Adam Finke; brothers and sisters-in-law Frankie and Bennie Frieda, Jr. of Caldwell and Clarence and Lora Frieda of Bradenton, Florida; sisters Hattie Christiansen of Giddings, and Dora Creekmur and husband Paul of Arlington. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews. Laura was preceded in death by her husband; parents, brothers Ira and Charles Frieda, sisters Dell Kurlan, Lois Leitko and Loretta Hueske. Funeral arrangements for Laura Bell Williams are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.

Louise Stegent Marshall
Funeral services for Louise Stegent Marshall, widow of E. E. Marshall, will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Brenham, with Father Ernesto Elizondo, Officiant. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel, with a Rosary scheduled for 7 p.m. Mrs. Marshall died May 17, 2014 at High Hope Care Center, at the age of 96. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law, Dorothy and Eddie Henthorn and Virginia and Kenneth Wren; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Sandra Marshall, all of Houston; son, Leroy Marshall, who passed away May 18, 2014, and wife Brenda of Cypress; daughter, Marilyn Bender of Brenham, and son, Billy Joe Marshall; grandchildren: Michelle Marshall, Courtney Whitman, Natalie Marshall, Christopher Marshall, Keari Hirsch, and Steven Marshall, and a sister, Barbara Wisnoski. Also surviving are 7 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Marshall was preceded in death by her parents; husband E. E. Marshall in June, 1989; a great-great grandson; sisters Julia Hilpold and Antonia Wisnoski, and brothers, Theodore Stegent and Henry Stegent. Funeral arrangements for Louise Stegent Marshall are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.

Ludwig Max Kipp
(October 20, 1929 - April 10, 2012)
U.S. Veteran
Ludwig Max Kipp was born on October 20, 1929 in Giddings, Texas to Herman & Marie (Ansohn) Kipp. He graduated from Giddings High School and attended Lamar College in Beaumont. He served in the United States Air Force from July 14, 1951 until receiving his Honorable Discharge on July 13, 1955. He was united in marriage to Mary Helen White on June 17, 1978 at the First United Methodist Church in Houston.
Ludwig was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Houston for over 35 years, retiring as an Engineering Manager on June 14, 1983. Following his retirement after 40 years as an engineer, he and Mary Helen moved back to Giddings where he spent the next 38 years working for his family, friends, cows and himself. Ludwig enjoyed taking care of his cattle and the family land. He spent his time gardening, fishing and wood carving. He enjoyed golf and was a member of the Giddings Senior Golfers and the Bastrop Senior Golfers. He was a member of the Telephone Society of Engineers and attended the First United Methodist Church in Giddings.
Ludwig passed away the morning of Tuesday, April 10, 2012 in Bryan, Texas.
He will be remembered as a quick friend who was even quicker to laugh and tease. He was always willing to lend a hand and help others in need. One would know where they stood with him without any words ever being exchanged. Hard work was his message and he delivered this message by doing it.
Ludwig was preceded in death by his parents, Herman & Marie Kipp; grandson, Justin Sandiford; brother, Richard Kipp and two sisters, Alice Wood & Myrtle Proske and his first wife, and the mother of Kim & Max, Dene (Kipp) Cloud.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen (White) Kipp of Giddings; four children, Kim & Billy Chapman of Giddings, Greg Johnson of San Antonio, Laura & Gary Greivenkamp of Seabrook and Max Kipp Jr. of Austin; four grandchildren, Eric Chapman of Giddings, Brian Johnson of Seabrook, Dylan Greivenkamp of Seabrook and Nicole Greivenkamp of Seabrook; one great granddaughter, Ava Johnson of Seabrook; brother, Roy Kipp of Chappell Hill; two sisters, Pearlie Childress of Houston and Grace Underwood of Andrews as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the First United Methodist Church in Giddings with Rev. Tim Edward officiating.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 West 26th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803.

Harold Eickenhorst
Harold Eickenhorst, 69, passed away May 19, 2014 in Rockdale. Graveside services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, May 22, 2014 at Prairie Lea Cemetery. Pastor Jill Vivroux will officiate. Survivors include his sister, Gladys Roemer of Carmine; brothers and sisters-in-law Glen and Rose Eickenhorst, and Johnnie and Elois Eickenhorst of Brenham; sister-in-law Loyce Murray of Brenham, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, sister, nephew, niece and two brothers-in-law. Funeral arrangements for Harold Eickenhorst are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham.

Leon Henry Boecker
Leon Henry Boecker, 87, husband of Floradell (Spies) Boecker, passed away May 17, 2014. Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at Welcome Lutheran Church, with Pastor Charles Parnell officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Survivors include his wife, Floradell Boecker of Brenham; daughters Linnae Hirsch and husband Charles of Brenham, Susan Boecker of The Woodlands, and Lori Pittman and husband Mike of Brenham; grandchildren: Adam, Nicholas, Brett and Keith Hirsch, Kyle, Brooke and Alex Pittman; brother and sister-in-law Burney and Earline Boecker of Brenham; sister and brother-in-law LaRuth and Milton Flentge of Brenham, and sister-in-law Verda Krause. He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jody Lee; his parents, parents-in-law Alfred and Delta Spies; sister, Bernita Hueske; sisters-in-law Melba Muske and Evelyn Spies, and brothers-in-law Walter Hueske, Allen Spies, Wilbert Krause, and Leander Muske. Funeral arrangements for Leon Henry Boecker are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 West Main, Brenham.

Mary Dell (Lehmann) Hueske
Mary Dell (Lehmann) Hueske, 92, of Brenham and the widow of Milton Robert Hueske, passed away Friday morning, May 16, 2014 at Brenham Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Brenham. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 18, 2014 at Brenham Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2014 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church of Salem with Pastors Charles Parnell and Toby Burk officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mary Dell Hueske is survived by her loving family, children Milton Fred and wife Linda Hueske, Luther John and wife Katie Hueske, and Mary Ann and husband Paul Marshall all of Brenham; grandchildren Cory Lynn and husband Blake Swor, Cassie Sue Hueske, Wade Cullen Hueske and girlfriend Georgette Konieczny, and John Darren Hueske; great-grandsons Lawson Blake Swor and Cooper West Swor; sister-in-law Ruth Hueske; nephews Roy B. and wife Lorena Schroeder, Glen Schroeder, and Arthur Lee and wife Debbie Nordt; great-nieces and nephews Kelly and husband Kevin Flisowski, Ryan and wife Jennifer Schroeder, Jay and wife Krissy Schroeder, Cas Schroeder, Miranda and husband Cooper Garza, and Mark and wife Rachel Nordt; and numerous great great-nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. James Edward Proske
James Edward Proske age 86 passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Proske was a traveling mechanic with the Southern Pacific Railroad for 43 years until he retired. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Brenham. Survivors include son Jim (wife O.J.) Proske of Salado, Tex, grandson J. Paul Proske; son Charlie Proske (wife Cindy) of Houston, granddaughters Amy (husband Adam) Becker; Molly Proske and Sally Proske; along with other relatives; special friends Darlene Fisher and Darcile Badtke and other friends. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2014 with a funeral service at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 10 both at Brenham Memorial Chapel with Rev. Matthew Jacobs officiating. Mary Louise Schawe
Mary Louise Schawe, 67, a resident of Austin, TX, died May 2, 2014, of metastatic breast cancer. Mary Louise was born January 15, 1947, in Brenham, TX. Mary Louise was preceded in death by her parents, Willie H. and Elsie (Blum) Schawe, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Survivors included two brothers; R.B. and wife, Beverly, and William and wife, Sandra, all of Brenham. She is also survived by nieces Elizabeth Crow of Spring; Jacquelyn Moore and husband, Doug, of Plantersville; Rebekah McCarty and fiancé, Duane Ahrens, of Brenham; Amanda Finke and husband, Corey, of Brenham; and Suzanne Flasowski and husband, Justin, of Carmine; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kaili, Rayce, and Kianna Crow; Scotion, Schuyler, Sterling, and Starla Moore; Seth McCarty and wife, Allie; Mason and Morgan Finke; and Parker Flasowski; great-great nephew, Jaxon McCarty; as well as many loving cousins and friends. Services will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, May 6, at Faith Lutheran Church, 6600 Woodrow, Austin, TX. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Pastor Gay Goodson will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Phillipsburg Cemetery in Brenham, TX, at 4:00pm. Mary Louise will lie in state at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham until 8:00pm, Monday, May 5th. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, Brenham, TX.
