Laura (Wensel) Huff, age 96 and the widow of Willie Huff, passed away Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in Hospice Brazos Valley in Bryan. Visitation with the Huff family will be from 5-7 pm, tonight, Friday, March 21st in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Funeral Service for Laura Huff will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, March 22 in Welcome Lutheran Church with Rev. John R. Sutton, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Marie Batdorf
Marie Batdorf, age 82, of Brenham passed away peacefully Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Brenham Rest Home in Brenham, Texas. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel. A funeral service for Marie will be held on Friday, March 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Brenham Memorial Chapel, with internment to follow at Prairie Lea Cemetery in Brenham. Marie was born on June 5, 1931 in Brenham to Stella and Hugh Durden. She attended and graduated from Brenham High School. She married Walter “Pete” Batdorf on July 30, 1950 in Brenham. As a young girl, she worked at an ice cream parlor in Brenham, where she met Walter. After marriage she worked several years at Dobert’s Ready To Wear Dress Shop in Brenham. She then worked for over 25 years for the Washington County Sheriff’s Department, starting out as a dispatcher, and soon acquiring her certification to become a deputy. Marie served under four sheriffs during her tenure. Marie also worked as a bailiff for Washington County Court at Law for 5 plus years following her service to the Sheriff’s Office. She was a longtime member of Brenham Church of Christ. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Walter “Pete” Batdorf, her parents, son Darrel, and a half-brother Walter Durden. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Danny and Diana Batdorf of Brenham; grandchildren Jessica Lyn Radnitzer and husband Joshua of Nacogdoches, Valerie Ann Batdorf of Nacodoches, and Allen Walter Batdorf of Brenham. Delbert R. “Del” Crocker, 91, of Brenham, the widower of Ellen Crocker, died March 11, 2014, at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village in Brenham. The family will receive visitors from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 16 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Funeral services for Fred Pryor Sr., 81 of Bastrop, Texas, are scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2011 at the Ridgeway Baptist Church in Paige, Texas with Roger Osborn officiating. Burial will follow in the Ridgeway Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Monday from 7:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
Fred passed away on Friday, September 9, 2011 at the Bastrop Lost Pines Nursing & Rehab Center.
Freddie Leon Pryor Sr. was born on March 15, 1930 in Indanola, Oklahoma to Delbert & Viola (Beck) Pryor. He was united in marriage to Mary June Swift on October 23, 1953 in Houston, Texas. Fred was a retired heavy equipment operator and also owned and operated Fred's Lawn Service which served the Bastrop and Lee County areas. He enjoyed gardening and working hard. He was an active member of Ridgeway Baptist Church in Paige where he had assisted in building the current sanctuary and helped to take care of the landscaping.
Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert & Viola Pryor; two brothers, Dinis and Bob and a sister, Agnes.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Mary Pryor of Bastrop; four children, Becky & Gary Eller of Panhandle, Texas, Leslie & Pat Garcia of Moses Lake, Washington, Melody Diamond of California and Freddie & Stephanie Pryor Jr. of Bastrop; grandchildren, Mike & Libby Caldwell, Shannon Eller, Genifer Eller, Sarah Pryor, Destiny Pryor and Jacob Pryor as well as numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren living out of state; three brothers, L.D. Pryor of Oklahoma, Bill Pryor of Washington and John Dailey Pryor of Washington; four sisters, Thelma Cartmell of Bowie, Texas, Ruth Shelton of California, Ellen Mikesell of Utah and Erma Rotella of Washington as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Caldwell, Gary Smith, Gary Wade Smith, Jacob Cantrell Pryor, Jay Randell McRee and Kevin Andrew McRee.

Interment will be in Prairie Lea Cemetery. Mrs. Palousek, the widow of John Palousek, passed away March 11, 2014 at Brenham Nursing and Rehab. Survivors include her sons Kenneth Michalk of Brenham, and Darrell Palousek of Dallas, a daughter, Joyce Palousek of Austin, and a grandchild, Christina Yoder. Evelyn Metzger
Evelyn Metzger, age 91 of Brenham, and the widow of Bruno Metzger, passed away Monday, March 10, 2014. Evelyn is survived by her son, Roger and his wife, Tamy of Brenham; her daughter, Karla Thomas and her husband, Ken Thomas of Lake Travis; and her son, Dean and his wife, Julie of Austin. She is additionally survived by grandson Kurt, who lives in Dallas with his daughters Bailey, Aubrey and Ellie; grandson Ryan who lives in Frisco, Texas with his wife, Olivia, and daughters Grace and Evan; and granddaughter Claire who is attending Texas A&M University in College Station. She also leaves behind sister-in law, Charlene Petsch and nephew, Thomas Petsch, both of San Antonio. Visitation with the family will be Friday, March 14, 2014 from 6 PM to 8 PM, with a wake service beginning at 7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, March 15, 2014 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Brenham, Texas, and burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
