Clarence McCollough
Clarence E. McCollough, 83, of Wichita Falls died Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Brownfield, pastor, and the Rev. Larry Shields of Jacksboro, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in Silver Hill Cemetery of Jack County under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.
Mr. McCollough was born Dec. 3, 1915, in Derby, Iowa. He and Bertha Mozelle “Rusty” Odel were married Feb. 1, 1954. He was retired from the Air Force and the Postal Service. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church and moved to Wichita Falls from Florida in 1965.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jerry McCollough of San Angelo, Texas, and Mike of Wichita Falls; three daughters, Judy and Carolyn McCollough, both of Wichita Falls and Kaye Long of San Antonio; a sister, Margaret Jensen of Des Moines, Iowa; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Cecile Nell Crowell
Cecile Nell Crowell, 75, of Wichita Falls died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hampton Vaughan Crestview with Reggie Coe officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Crowell was born March 17, 1923, in Hillsboro, Texas. She and Marion Crowell were married Dec. 31, 1949, in Hillsboro. She was a homemaker and a member of Grace Church. She had lived in Wichita Falls since 1960, moving from Dallas.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Mary Wood of Wichita Falls; a son, Steve Crowell of San Jose, Calif.; her mother, Thelma Davis of Wichita Falls; a brother, Billy Joe Davis of Granbury, Texas; a sister, Jan Toft of San Diego; and eight grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. tonight.

Kathleen M. Pearce, 69, of Wichita Falls died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, in Wichita Falls.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Crestview Memorial Park with the Rev. Harvey McMurry, pastor of City View Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Crestview Chapel.
Mrs. Pearce was born Jan. 11, 1929, in Seminole, Okla. She was a cashier at Kmart until her retirement in 1991 and was a Baptist. She had been a resident of Wichita Falls since 1960.
Survivors include a son, Ron Huff of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Stephanie K. Huff of Electra; four sisters, Sheila Copenhaver of Van Couver, Wash., and Frances Thornburg, Betty Williams and Zona Lee Crockett, all of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, John Russel of Tulsa, Okla.; and three grandchildren.

BOWIE, Texas – Alice Baccus, 89, of Bowie died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, in a Bowie hospital.

Mrs. Baccus was born Oct. 14, 1909, in Bowie. She and Paul V. Baccus were married Feb. 21, 1948, in Bowie. He died March 5, 1990. She taught at Bowie Junior High School for 40 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Texas State Teacher’s Association and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a lifetime resident of Bowie.
Survivors include two nephews, Jeff McDonald of Dean, Texas, and Jim McDonald of Brownwood, Texas.

Madge Hibbs Powell
GRANDFIELD, Okla. -- Madge Hibbs Powell, 86, of Devol, Okla., died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Devol with Barry Hardin, minister of Grandfield First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Devol Cemetery under the direction of Gray Funeral Home.
Mrs. Powell was born Feb. 23, 1912, in Black Rock, Ark. She and Ivan E. Powell were married Feb. 17, 1934, in Grandfield. He died Sept. 3, 1986. She attended schools in Joplin, Mo., and Fairview in Thrift, Texas. She moved to Burkburnett where she lived until moving to Devol in 1958. She was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include three sons, George E. of Midlothian, Texas, John C. and Glenn I. both of Devol; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

VERNON, Texas – Rossie L. Johnson, 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, in a Vernon hospital.

Mrs. Johnson was born Aug. 5, 1919, in Honey Grove, Texas. She and Theodore Roosevelt Johnson were married Jan. 9, 1935, in Altus, Okla. He died Nov. 21, 1993. She had lived in Vernon most of her life. She was a member of Wood Street Church of Christ. A son, Harry B., died April 4, 1993. A son, John A., died Dec. 27, 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Elois Waggoner of Vernon and Donna of Fairfield, Calif.; four sons, T.J. and Willie, both of Altus, Okla., W.T. of Oklahoma City and Billy of Vernon; three sisters, Jessie Mae Goodlow and Mary Lois Roberson, both of Altus, and Eveline Fleeks of Wichita Falls; three brothers, Harry Weaver Sr. and Tommy Lewis, both of Vernon, and James Henry Reed of Kansas City, Mo.; 33 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Savell was born Oct. 31, 1900, in Parker County, Texas. She and Roy Vell Savell were married June 15, 1918, in Jacksboro, Texas. He died April 17, 1989. She was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Debra Howe of Corpus Christi, Texas; a grandson, Jody Savell of Arlington, Texas; and five great-grandchildren.

GRAHAM, Texas -- Salvador Lopez, 83, of Graham died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, in a Graham hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Morrison Funeral Home with the Deacon Ruben L. Castaneda of The Jesus of Nazareth Catholic Church in Albany, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery in Graham.
Mr. Lopez was born March 1, 1915, in Aguascalientes, Mexico. He came to Graham in December of 1997 from Fort Worth. He was a Catholic and a retired cook for the Blackstone Hotel in Fort Worth.
Survivors include five sisters, Rosie Menchaca, Aparo Garcia, Annie Flores, Angela Gonzales and Dolores Reilly, all of Fort Worth; two brothers, Frank and Albert, both of Fort Worth.
Wilbur S. Vaughn Sr.
BURKBURNETT – Wilbur S. Vaughn Sr., 76, of Wichita Falls died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett with the Rev. Daryl Waddell, pastor of Jubilee Christian Center, officiating. Burial will be in Randlett, Okla., Cemetery.
Mr. Vaughn was born March 11, 1922, in Oceanport, N.J. He and Margaret Warren were married Nov. 23, 1960. He served in the Navy during World War II and was a retired truck driver. He was a resident of Wichita Falls for four months and had been a longtime resident of Burkburnett.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Bob of Wichita Falls, David of San Antonio and Willie of Henrietta; two daughters, Jean Brown of Wichita Falls and Elizabeth Vaughn-Neely of Hammond, La.; a brother, Gordon Vaughn of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a sister, Jessie Iona Hitchens of Pittsburgh; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Macario Hurtado II
VERNON, Texas – Macario Hurtado II, 63, of Vernon died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, at his home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Sullivan Funeral Home. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.
Mr. Hurtado was born Aug. 23, 1935, in Maxwell, Texas. He and Delores Hernandez were married March 15, 1961, in San Marcos, Texas. He had been a resident of Vernon since 1965, moving from San Marcos. He was retired from Wright Brand Foods.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Michael III of Vernon and David Salazar of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Zulama Hurtado of Laredo, Texas; two brothers, Ernest of Maxwell and Arthur of San Marcos; two sisters, Lillie Mendoza and Delores De Leon, both of San Marcos; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Joe Dean Tidwell
Joe Dean Tidwell, 71, of Wichita Falls died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Chapel with the Rev. Keith Cupples, pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, officiating with Elks Rest. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mr. Tidwell was born Nov. 8, 1927, in Duncan, Okla. He and LaVerne Souther were married Aug. 23, 1961, in Henrietta, Texas. He was a star football player at Wichita Falls High School and for Midwestern State University. He also played for the Baltimore Colts in 1953 and 1954. He served in the Army during the Korean War and had lived in Wichita Falls since his childhood. He had worked as a Deputy Sheriff since 1975 for Wichita County and was made a Deputy for Life. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge No. 1105 and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a stepson, Bobby Steward of Canyon, Texas; a stepdaughter, Jean Ann of Mansfield, Texas; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Mr. Wigington was born May 22, 1917, in Prospect, Texas.

ARCHER CITY, Texas -- Kristy Rose Krahl, 19, of Scotland, Texas, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999.
A rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst, Texas. Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Scotland with the Rev. David Kraeger, pastor, and the Rev. Chris Davis, chaplain of Notre Dame Schools in Wichita Falls, officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Miss Krahl was born Aug. 24, 1979, in Wichita Falls. She was a lifelong resident of Scotland. She attended Windthorst Schools. While attending school, she was on the volleyball team and was a state semi-finalist. She also was a member of the basketball, and softball teams, and was a member of the track and tennis teams. She was class treasurer her freshmen and sophomore years. She was a member of the student council and president her senior year. She was involved in band and flag corps. She was class president and valedictorian of the class of 1997.
Her senior year she was voted most courteous and dependable and most studious. She was voted Who’s Who in American High Schools all four years in a wide range of subjects. She participated in UIL events, including Number Sense, Spelling Prose, science, mathematics, calculator, and Ready Writing. She was in the One Act Play and was a PAL volunteer. She was in the Gifted and Talented Program and the National Honor Society, where she was an officer.
She was currently attending Midwestern State University where she was pursuing a pharmaceutical degree. She was employed at Park Plaza Pharmacy. She was a member of the SPECTRUM Program and was awarded numerous scholarships to Midwestern State University, including the Presidential Leadership Award and was a member of the Student Ambassadors. She was engaged to be married to Tony Grogan of Wichita Falls.
Survivors include her parents, Richard and Evelyn of Scotland; two sisters, Debra Haehn of Archer City and Leanne Curtis of Iowa Park; a grandmother, Katherine of Wichita Falls.

George W. Segler
HENRIETTA – George W. Segler, 92, of Joy, Texas, died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Davis Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Holman, elder at Primitive Baptist Church, and H.O. Ballard of Duncan, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in the Joy Cemetery.
Mr. Segler was born Nov. 26, 1906, in Dundee, Texas. He and Lorene Lumpkin were married June 8, 1943. She died in 1975. He was a retired carpenter and a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Margen McMillion of Bowie, Texas; two sons, Eldridge of Jonesburg, Mo. and Deral of Port Arthur, Texas; a sister, Mary Winder of Decatur, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be at 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home today.
