Norman Lewis Teague
Norman Lewis Teague, 74, of Wichita Falls, died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, in a Dallas, Texas, hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Owens & Brumley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Handrick of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mr. Teague was born April 26, 1924, in Jean, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was general manager of Longhorn Trailer and Body Co. for 52 years and had lived in Wichita Falls for most of his life. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, was a charter member of Wichita County Mounted Patrol and one of the original organizers of the Red River Rodeo. He was past president of the Red River Valley Round and Square Dance Association and the Texas State Federation of Round and Square Dancers. He had been a gold coat Ambassador with the Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Wichita Falls; three sons, Monte, Kent and Larry all of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Carolyn Ruth McDonald of Waco, Texas; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church Elevator Fund.
Madge Hibbs Powell
GRANDFIELD, Okla. -- Madge Hibbs Powell, 86, of Devol, Okla. died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Devol with Barry Hardin, minister of Grandfield First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Devol Cemetery under the direction Gray Funeral Home.
Mrs. Powell was born Feb. 23, 1912, in Black Rock, Ariz. She and Ivan E. Powell were married Feb. 17, 1934, in Grandfield. He died Sept. 3, 1986. She attended schools in Joplin, Mo., and Fairview in Thrift, Texas. She moved to Burkburnett where she lived until moving to Devol in 1958. She was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include three sons, George E. of Midlothian, Texas, John C. and Glenn I. both of Devol; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to a charity or institution of choice.

Mae Nell Elliott Teer
FORT WORTH, Texas – Mae Nell Elliott Teer, 90, of Fort Worth died Monday, Jan. 12, 1999, in her home.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Eastview Cemetery of Vernon, Texas. Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at The Courtyards at River Park, Bldg. 12, 3201 River Park Drive. Arrangments under the direction of Robertson Mueller Harper Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Teer was born in 1908 in Memphis, Texas. Her husband, James Edward Teer, died in 1992. She and her husband were longtime resident of Vernon where they were members of Central Christian Church. She moved to Wichita Falls in 1956 where she was a member of the First Christian Church. She moved to Fort Worth in 1992 after her husband’s death. She was an associate with Goldfedder’s of Vernon and later became a decorator with William Carneron & Co. Lumber. She retired from City Power and Light.
Survivors include a daughter, Dorothy Dell Teer Elliot of Fort Worth; two grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the youth group at Cedar Crest Community Church, 359 Lake Park Rd., Lewisville, Texas 75057 or to a charity of choice for youths.
Empra Ta Var Moore
Empra Ta Var Moore, 23, died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1999.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at St. John Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy R. Delaney officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Home.
Mr. Moore was born Sept. 15, 1975, in Wichita Falls. He professed Christ at a early age uniting with Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. He attended and graduated from L.B.J. High School in Austin in 1994, where he was president of his senior class. He received a drama theatrical scholarship to Prairie View A&M University. He earned his bachelor of science degree in criminal justice.
Survivors include his mother, Edith “Candy” of Wichita Falls; a brother, Robert V. of Wichita Falls; his grandmother, Hazelle Davis Perkins of Wichita Falls; and his step-father, Connie R. Palmer of Wichita Falls.
Bufford Morris
QUANAH, Texas – Bufford Morris, 74, of Quanah died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999, in an Amarillo, Texas, nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Spangler officiating and the Rev. Clinton Young assisting. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Price-Jackson Funeral Home.
Mr. Morris was born Oct. 17, 1924, in Tolbert, Texas. He and Betty Quisenberry were married March 21, 1949, in Tolbert. He was a veteran of World War II and was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a lifetime resident of Hardeman and Wilbarger counties. He worked at the stockyards in Quanah for 20 years and Georgia Pacific for seven years. He was a Baptist. A son, Emmitt Dewayne, died March 14, 1997.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mary Roberson of Amarillo, and Betty Mobley and Peggy Colbert, both of Quanah; a son, Tommy of Vian, Okla.; two sisters, Verda Babin of Louisiana and Gerry Odom of Vernon, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

GRAHAM, Texas – Margaret E. Slaughter, 81, of Graham died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, in her residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Pioneer Cemetery with the Rev. Joe Finfrock, pastor of Oak Street Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Mrs. Slaughter was born May 17, 1917, in Belton, Texas. She and Albert Martin Slaughter were married Oct. 3, 1936, in Graham. He died Nov. 30, 1980. She had been a resident of Graham since 1929. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include a son, Keith of Bridge City, Texas; two brothers, James Francisco of Graham and Willie Samuel Francisco of Olney, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Ms. Sonnamaker was born March 6, 1915, in Kaufman, Texas. She was a former resident of Lewisville and Wichita Falls.

ABILENE, Texas – Odber Raymond Hartt Jr., 78, of Abilene died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Riverside Cemetery in Wichita Falls. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at First Central Presbyterian Church with Dr. Clifford S. Stewart officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Homes.
Mr. Hartt was born Feb. 3, 1920, in Wichita Falls. He and Joan Logan were married Feb. 11, 1950, in Wichita Falls. He received a bachelor of science degree from A & M University. He served in the Army during World War II and had lived in Abilene since 1954. He retired from West Texas Utilities after a 33 year career as an air-conditioning engineer. He was a member of First Central Presbyterian Church where he served as an ordained elder and deacon. He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers, the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and the Abilene Exchange Club. He had been on the city Board of Electrical Examiners for six years and was chairman of the Volunteer Weather Committee.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Ann L. Hartt of Abilene; and a grandson.

Jeff Jansa, 23, of Wichita Falls died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at University United Methodist Church with Dr. Larry George officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Downtown Chapel.
Mr. Jansa was born Nov. 18, 1975, in Clovis, N.M. He was a laborer, a member of University Methodist Church and a graduate of Rider High School. He had lived in Wichita Falls since 1983.
Survivors include his parents, Phillip and Beverly Jansa of Wichita Falls; a son, Clayton Ray Jansa of Wichita Falls; a brother, Richard Ray Jansa of Searcy, Ark.; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Jansa of Oklaunion, Texas, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hodges of Wichita Falls.

Vincent Nat Dowlen, 68, of Wichita Falls died Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospital.

Mr. Dowlen was born June 21, 1930, in Byers, Texas. He and Ruth Berry were married Jan. 20, 1951, in Wichita Falls. He was a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Dean and was retired from Sears. He had been a salesman for 33 years and was a lifetime resident of Wichita Falls.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Paula Jarvis and Carla Dowlen, both of Wichita Falls; a brother, Bill Dowlen of Lake Jackson, Texas; and two grandchildren.

Mr. Shine was born March 3, 1942, in Wichita Falls. He served in the Marine Corps. He worked in sales for the past 35 years and was currently working for the Norwegian Cruise Line.

Mrs. Rauch was born Nov. 28, 1910, in Howeth Switch, Texas. She and Clarence Wesley Rauch were married April 16, 1933, in Henderson, Texas. He died in 1983. She retired from Levi Strauss after 29 years as a seamstress and was a member of Levi Strauss Retiree Group. She was a member of City View Home Demonstrations.
Survivors include two daughters, Clarence Allen and Sandra Lewis of Wichita Falls; a son, Don of Midwest City, Okla.; two sisters, Rue Porter of Austin and Florine Jones of Wichita Falls; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

John Raymond “Blue” Underwood, 49, of Wichita Falls died Thursday, Jan. 14, 1999, in his residence.

Mr. Underwood was born Nov. 21, 1949, in Wichita Falls. He was a 1968 graduate of Hirschi High School and worked with the Methodist Church getting baskets and equipment for AIDS patients.

Mrs. Willis was born Jan. 16, 1940, in Wichita Falls. She served two years with the Marine Corps and was named Meritious Civilian Service to the Department of the Air Force from July 1985 until October 1988. She was named Civilian of the Quarter four times and Civilian of the Year in 1987 and 1989. She had many acknowledgments of appreciation for her work for the 82nd Communicating Squadron at Sheppard Air Force Base. She was a retired telecommunications manager with Civil Service.
Survivors include two daughters, Michelle Strange of Electra and Andrea Brooks of Olivia, Minn.; two sisters, Margaret Dorner of Iowa Park and Mary Denney of Electra; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Katherine M. Robinson
BOWIE, Texas – Katherine Marie Robinson, 79, of Bowie died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 1999, in Bowie.
Services will be 5 p.m. Monday at St. Jerome Catholic Church of Bowie with the Rev. Ivor Koch of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Rev. Phil Magaldie of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church of Fort Worth, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robinson was born March 7, 1919, in New York. She and Jones Miller Robinson were married June 19, 1943, in Washington, D.C. He died Oct. 5, 1997. She was a graduate of Manhattenville of the Sacred Heart. She received a master’s degree in guidance and counseling from California State University of Northridge and was former president of Los Angeles Secondary School Counselors. She was a secondary school teacher and was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church. She lived in Bowie from 1945 to 1958 and again in 1981 and also lived in Los Angeles.
Survivors include a son, William Robinson of Mundelein, Ill.; a daughter, Ellen Robinson of Los Angeles; and two grandchildren.

Mary Edith King, 87, of Wichita Falls died Saturday, Jan. 16, 1999, in a Wichita Falls hospice center.

Mrs. King was born May 31, 1911, in Oklahoma. Her husband, R.H. King, died in 1958. She was a retired English teacher from King High School near Quanah, Texas, and lived in Wichita Falls most of her life. She was member of Highland Heights Christian Church of Wichita Falls.

Mrs. Loper was born June 23, 1943, in Paducah, Texas. She was a cook.

Mrs. Travis was born Aug. 2, 1957, in Marion County, Texas. She and Kenneth Dale Travis were married Nov. 23, 1977, in Wichita Falls. She worked at Nocona Belt Company and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Sheets was born Nov. 2, 1928, in Young County, Texas. Her husband, Vernon Darrell McBroom, died in 1965. She and Gary Sheets were married in 1974 in Graham. She was a rancher and a member of the Eastside Church of Christ of Graham.
