FREDERICK, Okla. – Jimmy Ray Lawson, 63, of Tipton, Okla., died Saturday, July 18, 1998, in an Altus, Okla., hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Tipton First Baptist Church with Troy Taylor and Cal Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Gish Funeral Home.
Mr. Lawson was born June 20, 1935, in Tipton. He graduated from Tipton High School. He and Bobbie Jean Rector were married April 14, 1956, in Frederick. He worked for Southwest Rural Electric Co. and had owned and operated the Tiger Den. He also worked for the Soil Conservation Service and retired from there June 1. He was past worshipful master of the Tipton Masonic Lodge. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Eastern Star. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Rhonda Lawson of Grapevine, Texas, and Pam Davis of Moore, Okla.; one brother, Bob Lawson of Waskom, Texas; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Jackson County Memorial Hospice or to a favorite charity.

BURKBURNETT – Chris Richardson, 9, of Randlett, Okla., died Thursday, July 16, 1998, in a Fort Worth hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Abundant Life Church of God in Burkburnett with the Rev. Anthony West, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Randlett Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Burkburnett.
Chris was born Nov. 28, 1988, in Fort Worth. He was a fourth-grade student at Big Pasture Elementary School in Randlett. He was involved in the 4-H Club in Randlett and Little League Baseball. He was a member of Abundant Life Church of God.

Shawn Whittington
WALTERS, Okla. – Michael Shawn Whittington, 26, died Thursday, July 16, 1998, at his Temple, Okla., residence.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Randlett, Okla., Cemetery with C.C. Kiddy officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home.
Mr. Whittington was born March 13, 1972, in Wichita Falls. He grew up in Burkburnett and Randlett. He lived in Wichita Falls for several years before moving to Temple four years ago.
Survivors include his parents, Andy and Karol Whittington of Temple; two sons, Steven Craig of Wichita Falls and Michael Shawn Chance of Elmore City, Okla.; a daughter, Sierra Zee Whittington of Elmore City; and a brother, Gary of Temple.
Margie Lee Mayo
ELECTRA, Texas – Margie Lee Mayo, 72, died Saturday, July 18, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church of Electra with the Rev. Tom Medley, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mayo was born March 18, 1926, in Maynardville, Tenn. She and Carl Mayo were married April 9, 1946, in Maynardville. He died Sept. 5, 1977. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Electra, the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars, and she was active in the church choir. She was involved with Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Graves of Nocona, Texas; three sons, Albert of Vernon, Texas, Jackie of Springtown, Texas, and Tommy of Midland, Texas; a brother, Arlie Childress of Knoxville, Tenn.; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 6-8 p.m.

Christino Rodriguez
Christino Banda Rodriguez, 86, of Wichita Falls, died Saturday, July 17, 1998, at a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lunn’s Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Joe Banda, Jehovah’s Witness minister, officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mr. Rodriguez was born Dec. 21, 1911, in Vastro, Texas. He and Andrea Hernandez were married 64 years ago in Frederick, Okla. He had worked for Ted Litteken Construction Company for 50 years. He had lived in Wichita Falls for 80 years.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Christino Rodriguez Jr., and Joe, both of Wichita Falls; a sister, Ernesto Franco of Wichita Falls; 10 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Sibyl Langford
OLNEY, Texas – Sibyl Langford, 83, of Olney, died Saturday, July 18, 1998, at an Olney nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Hamilton Street Church of Christ with Scotte Clark, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Langford was born Aug. 3, 1914, in Olney. She and Gene Langford were married April 13, 1941, in Borger, Texas. He died Jan. 2, 1991. She had been a resident of Olney since 1991, moving from Odessa, Texas. She was a homemaker and a member of Hamilton Street Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Suzy Davis Moore of Lubbock, Texas; a brother, Billy Joe Hardesty of Olney, Texas; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Joanna Cornelia Snyder
Joanna Cornelia Snyder, 94, of Wichita Falls, died Thursday, July 16, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Chapel with the Rev. Craig Zumbrunnen officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Snyder was born Jan. 14, 1904, in Gage County, Neb. She and Alfred Darnell were married in 1919 in Beatrice, Neb. He died in 1927. She and Harry E. Ward were married in 1929. She and Roy H. Snyder were married in 1935 in Lincoln, Neb. He died in 1966. She attended Gage County public schools and graduated from high school in Beatrice. She was a homemaker and a member of World War I Women’s Veterans Auxiliary. She was a member of Christ United Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls and was a member of Protestant Women’s Bible Study Group. She had been a resident of Rolling Meadows Retirement Complex since 1994, and had previously been a resident of Wichita Falls from 1981 to 1992, before moving to Colorado.
Two sons, Sydney Snyder and Jack Darnell preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Dean Darnell of Deltona, Fla., and Richard Snyder of Los Angeles; three daughters, Doris Call Rice Koopman of Wichita Falls and Cape Cod, Mass., Darlene Phillips of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Sandra Miller of Arvada, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home Monday from 6-8 p.m.
George Zennecker
CHILDRESS, Texas – George Zennecker, 52, of Childress, died Friday, July 17, 1998, in Childress.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Childress Cemetery with the Rev. Jim McCurley, pastor of First Baptist Church of Childress, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
Mr. Zennecker was born July 31, 1945, in Hugo, Okla. He was a machine operator.

Andrew Jackson Baldwin
VERNON, Texas – Andrew Jackson ‘Andy’ Baldwin, 74, died Saturday, July 18, 1998, in Vernon.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Ron Fox, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Mr. Baldwin was born May 27, 1924, in McKinney, Texas. He and Billye Sue Smith were married April 6, 1946, in Abilene, Texas. She died June 28, 1973. He and Johnie Mae Eppler were married Feb. 16, 1974, in Vernon. He was retired from Mrs. Baird’s Bakery and Vernon State Hospital. He was a bus driver for Vernon Independent School District and a custodian for Calvary Baptist Church of Vernon, of which he had been a member for 38 years. He had been a resident of Abilene and Vernon for most of his life. He was a longtime member of the Vernon Lion’s Club. He served in the Army Battery C of 554 Anti Aircraft (AW) Battalion.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Kenneth of Amarillo, Texas; four daughters, Janice Streit, Judy Jansa, Jennifer Baldwin, and Jessica Lacy all of Vernon; two stepdaughters, Tammy Dawson of Clute, Texas, and Christy Cooper of Lewisville, Texas; three sisters, Ollie Yarborough and Wynn Krempin, both of Abilene, Texas, and Mac Douglas of Austin; and 14 grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7-8 p.m.

Rodgie Bass Wortham
VERNON, Texas – Rodgie Bass Wortham, 78, died Wednesday, July 15, 1998, at a Houston hospital.

Mrs. Wortham was born Feb. 8, 1920, in Mexia, Texas. She and Henry C. Bass were married in 1936 in Mexia. He died March 1968. She and Eldridge Wortham were married in 1991 in Vernon. She was a retired cook at Wilbarger General Hospital in Vernon. She was a member of Greater Hopewell Church of God in Christ.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Henrietta Jackson of Houston; three sisters, Della Mae Thomas of Wichita Falls, Eliza Ann Patterson of Midland, Texas, and Freddie Lee Rockwell of Dallas; a brother, Australia Pryor of Kermit, Texas; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Jewell Long
PADUCAH, Texas – Jewell Long, 93, of Paducah died Saturday, July 18, 1998, at a Paducah nursing home.

Miss Long was born April 7, 1905, in King County, Texas. She returned to Paducah from Kermit, Texas, in 1971. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church.

Price Sandlin
PADUCAH, Texas – Price Sandlin, 91, of Paducah, died Sunday, July 19, 1998, at a Duncan, Okla., nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Paducah with the Dr. Tilden Armstrong, a retired Methodist minister of Paducah, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Seigler Funeral Home.
Mr. Sandlin was born May 20, 1907, in Mount Pleasant, Texas. He and Ollie Grier were married Sept. 28, 1927, in Hill County, Texas. She died Nov. 1, 1980. He came to Cottle County in 1917, and lived in the Chalk community. He was the fire chief for the Paducah Fire Department from 1943 until 1972, and was also a dispatcher for the Paducah Fire Department and Cottle County Sheriff’s Department until retiring at age 88. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and a member of the First Christian Church. A son, Tom, died in 1983.
Survivors include two daughters, Charlotte Rushing and Carolyn Green, both of Duncan; two brothers, Willard of Carlsbad, N.M., and Eugene of Corvollis, Ore.; two sisters, Essie Murray of Paducah and Opal Karas of Carlsbad; 11 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
John Edwin Perkins, Jr.
FREDERICK, Okla. – John Edwin Perkins, Jr., 83, of Frederick, died Saturday, July 18, 1998, in Frederick, Okla.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Oklahoma Chapel of Frederick Funeral Home with the Rev. Charlie Graves, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Frederick Funeral Home.
Mr. Perkins was born June 22, 1915, in Chillicothe, Texas. He and Elizabeth Cowen were married May 4, 1940. He attended school in Snyder, Okla., and Frederick, graduating from Frederick High School in 1933. He served in the Navy during World War II and was stationed in Mechanicburg, Pa. He was an accountant and had been employed by Meadors Worthington Chevrolet and Goodyear Service Store in Frederick before being transferred to El Reno, Okla. He was a bookkeeper for several businesses in Frederick including Wade Watson Chevrolet and Frederick Memorial Hospital. He moved to Duncan, Okla., in 1962, where he served as a hospital administrator, and later to Chickasha, Okla., where he held a similar position. He returned to Frederick in 1974. He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was a treasurer for many years. He was involved in many areas of the church, and was a volunteer in Mission to Costa Rica in the early 1990s. He was a Mason and a member of Frederick Lodge No. 249 AF&AM, and received his 50-year pin in 1997.
Survivors include his wife; a brother, Earl P. “Bud” of Ardmore, Okla.; a daughter, Pat Perry of Frederick; two sons, Richard of Midwest City, Okla., and Mike of Loveland, Colo.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Helen Matney
FREDERICK, Okla. – Helen Matney, 72, of Tipton, Okla., died Saturday, July 18, 1998, at an Oklahoma City hospital.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today at Gish Funeral Home with the Rev. Homer Matney, a retired Baptist pastor, officiating.
Mrs. Matney was born May 18, 1926, at Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She and W.L. Matney were married August 18, 1959. She graduated from Cleveland High School. She received her nurses’ training at Bethesda Naval Base and served as nurse in the Navy during World War II. She moved to Tipton in 1967. She was a nurse at the Altus Air Force Base for 32 years.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Lynn Soliz of Tipton, Debbie Nine of Roswell, N.M., and Kim Williams of Wichita Falls; a sister, Jean Houston of Cleveland; and six grandchildren.

DALLAS – Laurie Lee Lewis, 38, died Friday, July 17, 1998, in Dallas.

Lorene Morrison
WAURIKA, Okla. – Lorene Biffle Morrison, 84, died Sunday, July 19, 1998, in a Wichita Falls nursing home.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church of Waurika with the Rev. Richard Eckel, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Waurika Perpetual Care Cemetery under the direction of Willis C. Worley and sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Morrison was born Jan. 8, 1914, on the family ranch east of Grady, Okla. She and Donald J. Morrison were married Jan. 1, 1939, in Duncan, Okla. He died April 16, 1988. She grew up in Jefferson County and graduated from Waurika High School in 1932. She later attended Hill’s Business School. She and her husband owned and operated the Waurika News Democrat newspaper. She was a former employee of Civil Service and later served as the assistant county school superintendent. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years. She was a member of the Sorosis Club and worked on charity drives for various causes. A daughter, Lynn Keck, died Dec. 17, 1995.
Survivors include two grandchildren, Shelli and Kristin Keck, both of Wichita Falls.

Mrs. Lott was born Aug. 17, 1912, in Greenwood, Texas. She and John Emery Lott were married Jan. 19, 1951, in Hollis, Okla. He died in May 1972. She graduated Community Center High School in 1929. She was a lifetime Childress area resident, and a member of Childress Church of Christ.
Survivors include a step-son, Johnnie Lott of Childress; three step-daughters, June Bassett of Yuca Valley, Calif., Creta Voyles of San Angelo, Texas, and Ellen Graham of Childress; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

Lee Roy McBride
PAMPA, Texas – Lee Roy McBride, 83, died Saturday, July 18, 1998, in Pampa.
Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church with the Rev. John Valdez, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Mr. McBride was born Nov. 24, 1914, in Wichita Falls. He and Mary Elizabeth Pastusek were married June 29, 1935, in Wichita Falls. He was a 1933 graduate of Wichita Falls High School and played on the Coyote football team. He moved to Pampa in 1936 and founded Pampa Garage and Salvage in 1943, where he was owner and operator at the time of his death. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church and was past Grand Knight and past district deputy of Frank Keim Council of Knights of Columbus. He was a member of BPO Elks Lodge, Loyal Order of the Moose and Pampa Optimist Club.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, John R. of Dallas and Jim of Amarillo, Texas; two brothers, Jasper of Pampa and John P. of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
