HENRIETTA, Texas - David K. Newsum, 68, of Petrolia, Texas, died Monday, July 20, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hope Cemetery with the Rev. Valerie Mireb, minister of the First United Methodist Church in Henrietta, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
Mr. Newsum was born June 23, 1923, in Electra. He was a ranch hand and a member of the Methodist Church. He had lived in Petrolia for 12 years.
Lanford Clyde Dickerson
FREDERICK, Okla. - Lanford Clyde Dickerson, 80, died Monday, July 20, 1998, in his Davidson, Okla., home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Gish Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Chadwick, pastor of Davidson First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Davidson Cemetery.
Mr. Dickerson was born Feb. 21, 1918, in Davidson. He and Lois Vivian Keyes were married June 25, 1938, in Davidson. He grew up in Davidson and graduated from Wilson High School. He was a farmer and oil well pumper for may years. He was a member of the Davidson Chamber of Commerce and the First Baptist Church. A son, Garrell Ray, died July 19, 1997.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Marlene Oxford of Frederick; a brother, Jodean of Davidson; three sisters, Wilsie Filmore of Vernon, Texas, Bernice Gordley of Tulsa, Okla., and Bertha Lea Hutton of Sylmar, Calif.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Davidson First Baptist Church, Davidson Cemetery Fund, or Alliance Hospice of Lawton.
Annie Deiterman Howle
Annie Margaret Deiterman Howle, 88, of Wichita Falls died Monday, July 20, 1998, in Rolling Meadows, Texas.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. William Winaski officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Downtown Chapel.
Mrs. Howle was born Oct. 16, 1909, in Wichita Falls. She and W.P. Howle were married Sept. 2, 1935, in Wichita Falls. He died Dec. 20, 1988. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic Academy. She was the owner and operator of W.P. Howle Masonry Contractor and retired in 1975. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. One of her and her husband's most signifcant legacies is the W.P. and Ann Howle Scholarship Trust at Midwestern State University.
Survivors include a sister, Teresa E. Fowler of Muenster, Texas; and a nephew, Leo Grein of Spartanburg, N.C.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
Viola Shepherd
HENRIETTA, Texas - Viola Shepherd, 89, died Monday, July 20, 1998, in a Henrietta nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Bluegrove, Texas, Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul Lewis of Katy, Texas, and the Rev. David Fortenbury, interim pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Bluegrove Cemetery under the direction of Davis Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shepherd was born Jan. 14, 1909, in Camp, Okla. She and William F. "Bill" Shepherd were married June 25, 1932, in Liberal, Kan. He died in 1994. She was a homemaker, a member of the Bluegrove Baptist Church and the Alpha Delphian Club.
Survivors include four sons, William B. "Cotton," John and Tony, all of Henrietta, and Paul of Bowie, Texas; a daughter, Jacquetta Graves of Henrietta; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7:30-8:30 this evening for visitation.

BOWIE, Texas - Margaret Lester, 64, died Saturday, July 18, 1998, in her Bellevue, Texas, home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First Untied Methodist Church in Bellevue with the Rev. Lewis Ray Sleeth, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery under the direction of Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lester was born Sept. 13, 1933, in Forsythe, Mont. She and Leslie "Les" Lester were married Oct. 9, 1976, in Reno, Nev. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church. She had lived in Bellevue for 19 years.

JACKSBORO, Texas - Rachel Irene Hubble, 82, of Jacksboro died Tuesday, July 21, 1998.

Mrs. Hubble was born Aug. 1, 1915, in Jack County, Texas. She and John Hubble were married June 11, 1942, in Buffalo Springs, Texas. She was a retired teacher and a charter member of Live Oak Baptist Church.

Jackie 'Jack' Trexler
HENRIETTA, Texas - Jackie "Jack" Trexler, 60, of Petrolia, Texas, died Monday, July 20, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill McKee, former pastor of the First Baptist Church of Petrolia, officiating and Don Hogan of Henrietta assisting. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in White Oaks Cemetery in Hyndman, Penn., under the direction of Harvey H. Zigler Funeral Home in Hyndman.
Mr. Trexler was born April 2, 1938, in Cumberland, Md. He and May Ann Wiemer were married Feb. 27, 1965, in Cumberland. He was a processor at PPG and a member of the First Baptist Church of Petrolia. He was a veteran of the Navy and the Army.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Roy of Petrolia; a daughter, Heidi of Petrolia; and four grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 this evening for visitation.

Dr. Alberto M. Alvarez
COLLEYVILLE, Texas - Dr. Alberto M. Alvarez, 81, died Sunday, July 19, 1998, in Hurst, Texas.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home. Burial will be in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park.
Dr. Alvarez was born Aug. 28, 1916, in Havana, Cuba. He was a general practitioner and was a professor at Havana University for several years. He was a former resident of Wichita Falls and retired from the Wichita Falls State Hospital.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Teresa of North Richland Hills, Texas; a son, Albert of Bedford, Texas; a sister, Hilda Mustelier of Miami, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

FREDERICK, Okla. - Audie Stice, 87, died Monday, July 20, 1998, in a Frederick nursing center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Burkhardt Chapel of Frederick Cemetery. Burial will be in Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Frederick Funeral Home.
Mr. Stice was born Aug. 3, 1910, in Little Rock, Ark. He and Ruth Sangster were married Sept. 15, 1938, in Honeygrove, Texas. She died Nov. 19, 1985. He worked for the city of Frederick for several years. He was a member of the Assembly of God.
William Earl Wiseman
HASKELL, Texas - William Earl Wiseman, 80, died Sunday, July 19, 1998.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Haskell with Dr. Troy Culpepper officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery under the direction of Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Wiseman was born May 7, 1918, in Haskell. He and Leola Martha Richey were married Aug. 12, 1950, in Waco, Texas. He served in the Army during World War II. He retired from Dowell in 1982 after 27 years of service stationed in Hobbs, N.M., Sonora, Texas, and Midland, Texas. He was a member of RSVP at Lubbock Senior Center.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Betty Gober of Hickory, N.C., and Linda Woodfin of Hobbs; a son, Tony Richey of Montpelier, Vt.; a sister, Emma Bland of Haskell; two brothers, Woodrow of East Longmeadow, Mass., and Bill of Temple, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Nadine Welch Mathis
PITTSBURG, Texas - Nadine Welch Mathis, 91, of Bryan, Texas, died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at a Bryan hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ricky Ricks officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Pittsburg.
Mrs. Mathis was born April 6, 1907, in Upshur County, Texas. She was a member of the Wichita County Humane Society and First United Methodist Church of Iowa Park. She was retired from First Wichita National Bank. She had also lived in Pittsburg and Iowa Park.
Survivors include two stepsons, Charles R. and John K., both of Houston; a brother, Edgar M. Young of Houston; and a sister, Eddie Faye Stocks of Marshall, Texas.
The family will be at the funeral home Sunday from 6-8 p.m.
Donald 'Don' Johnston
Donald B. 'Don' Johnston, 67, of Wichita Falls died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at a Wichita Falls care center.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Crestview Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Hodges officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Crestview Chapel.
Mr. Johnston was born Oct. 10, 1930, in Big Spring, Texas. He was a member of the Lion's Club and Western Hills Baptist Church of Wichita Falls. He had served in the Navy. He was involved in route sales with Fre-Del Vending Company of Fort Worth.
Survivors include two daughters, Julia Ritchie of Wichita Falls and Sherry Reed of Quanah, Texas; two step-sons, David Shoop of Wichita Falls and Butch Shoop of Shallow Water, Texas; a sister, Maurine Mears of Wichita Falls; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Clota Caudle Huffaker
Clota Caudle Huffaker, 85, of Wichita Falls died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at a Wichita Falls hospital.

Mrs. Huffaker was born Feb. 2, 1913, in Erath County, Texas. She and J.D. Huffaker were married Dec. 27, 1936, in Avoca, Texas. He died Aug. 12, 1994. She had lived here for 60 years. She was a member of International Friends at First Baptist Church, the Hospital Auxiliary at Wichita General Hospital and Midwestern State University's 'M' Club.
Survivors include two sons, Don of Electra and Jerry of Austin, Texas; a sister, Vivian Haterius of Stamford, Texas; two brothers, Joe Caudle of Abilene, Texas, and Earl Caudle of Seminle, Texas; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m. today.

Mrs. Dean was born Aug. 11, 1918, in Vernon, Texas. She attended school in Vernon. She was a lifetime resident of Wichita Falls.

Clara V. Querner
VERNON, Texas - Clara V. Querner, 79, died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at her Vernon residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Gain and the Rev. Richard Keeling officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.
Mrs. Querner was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Vernon. She and Russell Wayland Querner were married Nov. 9, 1937, in Safford, Ariz. He died March 31, 1986. She had lived most of her life in the Northside, Fargo and Vernon areas. She was a member of the Word of Life Church. A daughter, Sharon Sue Hopkins, died in 1972. A son, Danny Lewis Querner, died in 1973.
Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Baker of Vernon; four sisters, Dorothy Comer, Shirley Moore and Johnnie Lou Snyder, all of Vernon, and Opal Garder of San Diego, Calif.; three grandsons; and three great-grandchildren.
E.W. 'Red' Hilbers
DUNCAN, Okla. - E.W. 'Red' Hilbers, 73, died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at his residence.

Mr. Hilbers was born May 27, 1925, in Lubbock, Texas. He and Patsy Ruth Johnson were married Sept. 18, 1954, in Henrietta, Texas. He served in the Army during World War II and then became operations manager for McAllister Well Service in Wichita Falls. In 1966, he moved from Pampa, Texas, to Duncan with Mobil Oil Company where he worked as an operator in the Sholem plant at Countyline. His illness forced his retirement in 1985. He was a landowner, a farmer and a cattleman in the Velma, Okla., area. He was previously a co-owner of the Velma Feed and Grain. He was a member of Assumption Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Barbara Flanigan of Duncan, Rita Foster of Velma, Okla., Claudia Busby of Durant, Mary Lou Hamilton of Lavon, Texas, and Brenda Brackin of Duncan; two brothers, Henry of Ratliff City, Okla., and Lenwood of Rockdale, Texas; four sisters, Nona Miller of Georgetown, Ga., Ruby McGhee of Henrietta, Texas, Mildred Craib of New Baltimore, Mich., and Myrtle Martin of Iowa Park; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

A.J. Reynolds, 82, of Wichita Falls died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at a local hospice center.

Mr. Reynolds was born Oct. 11, 1915, in Wolfe City, Texas. He and Frances Genevieve 'Bee' Pharr were married April 17, 1939, in Wolfe City. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member and a deacon of Southside Baptist Church, AARP, American Legion Post No. 169, Wichita Wagons R.V. Club and Good Sam Club. He had retired from the Coca Cola Bottling Company as a service manager after 39 years of service. He was a former Gideon.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Della Demeson and Joyce Henry, both of Austin, Texas; a brother, Pat; a sister, Juanita Erwin; three granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

James Caliway Thurman
SAINT JO, Texas - James Caliway Thurman, 90, of Forestburg, Texas, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, at a Muenster, Texas, hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Forestburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Marshall Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Rosston, Texas, Cemetery under the direction of McCoy Funeral Home of Saint Jo.
Mr. Thurman was born Dec. 20, 1907, in Forestburg. He and Wilma Marjorie De Borde were married May 25, 1939, in Forestburg. He was a farmer and a rancher. He worked 15 years as a carpenter and rock and brick mason, and he worked for the mail service for about 3 years. He was a member of Forestburg Baptist Church. He was a lifetime resident of Forestburg.
Survivors include his wife; and two sisters, Alma Bell and Ora Thurman, both of Forestburg.
Nadine A. Brown
RYAN, Okla. - Nadine Arminta Roberts Brown, 82, died Friday, July 17, 1998, at a Rochester, Minn., nursing home.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Ryan with the Rev. Bob Waitman, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Oscar Cemetery under the direction of Grantham-Worley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Roberts was born Aug. 12, 1916, in Ryan. She and Lawrence J. Brown, Jr., were married Sept. 11, 1938. He died Sept. 1, 1969. She graduated from Ryan High School in 1934. She worked as a hairstylist until 1938. She lived in Nebraska and Minnesota for the past several years. She had also been a secretary. She was a homemaker and a Baptist.
Survivors include a daughter, Margaret J.A. Brown of Rochester; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
