Carol Lynn Baxter, 36, of Groves, Texas, died Friday, July 17, 1998, in Port Neches, Texas.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Riverside Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Kuykendall, associate pastor of Evangel Temple Assembly of God, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Baxter was born Aug. 8, 1961, in Wichita Falls. She was a waitress and member of Calvary Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Leigh of DeSoto, Texas; a son, Billy W. of DeSoto; her mother, Judy Jackson of Wichita Falls; his father, Thomas Jackson of Avon, N.Y.; two brothers, Kenneth W. and Randy Jackson, both of Wichita Falls; and her grandmother, Opal F. Burns of Wichita Falls.
Jim W. Collier
TEMPLE, Texas - Jim W. Collier, 98, of Temple died Monday, July 20, 1998.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Moffat Cemetery with the Rev. Connally Dugger officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hewett Funeral Home.
Mr. Collier was a lifetime resident of Temple. He and Winnie Baggett were married in 1918. He was a self-employed sand and gravel hauler.
Survivors include two sons, Otis Ray of Wichita Falls and Kenneth of Temple; a daughter, Ellen Louise Hacker of Temple; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be today at the funeral home.

Margaret Sellers Morris
Margaret Sellers Morris, 81, of Wichita Falls died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church of Norman, Okla. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Wichita Falls.
Mrs. Morris was born July 16, 1917. She and Lester Morris were married May 17, 1991, in Wichita Falls. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and had worked as a secretary for the Catholic Church in Norman. She was a longtime resident of Norman.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jim Sellers of Bentonville, Ark., and Bob Sellers of Palm Springs, Calif.; two daughters, Barbara Sellers McKillip of Oak Grove, Okla., and Mary Jane Sellers Deignan of San Angelo, Texas; two stepdaughters, Tina Whittle of Fayetteville, N.C., and Peggy Eakins of Guthrie, Okla.; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

IOWA PARK - Nellie Ocie Cowan Saylor, 78, died Saturday, July 18, 1998, in Iowa Park.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Highland Cemetery with Dr. Greg Ammons, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Saylor was born Sept. 5, 1919, in Latimer County, Okla. She was a homemaker. She had lived in Electra for several years. She worked in a defense factory during World War II.
Survivors include a daughter, Patsy F. Rowland of California; a son, Jerry R. Saylor of Lakewood, Calif.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Lonnie Joe Beavers
IOWA PARK - Lonnie Joe Beavers, 64, died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Neal, associate pastor of Faith Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mr. Beavers was born Nov. 25, 1933, in Iowa Park. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 713 A.F. & A.M. He had lived in Iowa Park for 18 years. He was formerly of Dallas. He retired in 1996 as an accountant. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include two brothers, Billy C. and Jimmy D., both of Iowa Park.

Walter C. Evans
HENRIETTA, Texas - Walter C. Evans, 79, of Petrolia, Texas, died Monday, July 20, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services were at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Davis Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Webb officiating. Burial was in Petrolia Cemetery.
Mr. Evans was born Aug. 31, 1918, in Throckmorton, Texas. He was a retired mechanic and a member of the First Baptist Church in Throckmorton. He was a former POW and was captured in North Africa and held for 26 months during World War II. He served on the Petrolia City Council for eight years.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie of Petrolia; six sons, Lanny of Hurst, Texas, Dennis of Reno, Nev., Jimmy of Waurika, Okla., Walter C. Evans Jr. of Petrolia, Marvin Holloman of Little Rock, Ark., and Dee Green of Springfield, Mo.; three daughters, Pat Jinks of Waurika, Anita McCloud and Jenny Enox, both of Wichita Falls; two brothers, Rube of Whitesboro, Texas, and J.B. of Houston; three sisters, Sybil Miller of Abilene, Texas, Leo McWhorter of Megargel, Texas, and Ima Dene Pemberton of Mineral Wells, Texas; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Hollis H. Powers
WALTERS, Okla. - Hollis Haskell Powers, 90, of Randlett, Okla., died Thursday, July 23, 1998, at a Lawton, Okla., hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Union Valley Baptist Church with the Rev. Arbuary Ritter officiating. Burial will be in Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home.
Mr. Powers was born Jan. 17, 1908, in the Ahpeatone community. He and Ella Welch were married July 5, 1928, in the parsonage of the First Baptist Church of Walters. He attended school in Ahpeatone and graduated from Union Valley High School in 1926. He attended Cameron for two years and taught school in Fairview for one year. He was one of the 13 original Charter Members of the Union Valley Baptist Church. He was ordained a deacon on Feb. 14, 1943. He had held many places of responsibility since 1928, serving as Sunday school superintendent, Bible teacher, treasurer, moderator and as building committee chairman while the church was being built. He and his wife recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Joan Ginn of Cookietown, Okla.; a son, Kenneth of Allenspark, Colo.; a sister, Lorene Hooker of California; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Woodrow J. Wilson
ELECTRA - Woodrow J. 'Woodie' Wilson, 84, died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Electra Memorial Park.
Mr. Wilson was born June 17, 1914, in Saint Jo, Texas. He was a veteran of the Army. He had been a resident of Wichita Falls since 1961 when he moved from Seminole, Texas. He retired in 1979 as a truck driver for the Wichita Falls State Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Ross of Electra; three sisters, Irma Mullnex of Laken, Kan., Dorothy Waltz and Bobbie Jean, both of Fort Worth; two brothers, Glen of Ohio and Teddie of Fort Worth; and two grandchildren.
Billy Virginia Holden
Billy Virginia Holden, 73, died Tuesday, July 14, 1998, at her Wichita Falls residence.
Private services will be at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Holden was born Aug. 6, 1924, in Kirkland, Texas. She and Francis J. Santangelo were married July 28, 1942, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Wichita Falls. He was killed in action in France on July 14, 1943. She and Leo D. Lewis were married in 1948. She and Woodsy Wayborn Holden were married April 12, 1968, in Vernon, Texas. He died Nov. 16, 1978. She was a graduate of Hardin Junior College, which is now Midwestern State University. She was a member of Faith Chapter No. 713 Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Travers of Florence, Ala., and Paula Smith of Monticello, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels or Faith Chapter No. 713 Order of the Eastern Star.
Cyrus O. Simmons Jr.
DALLAS - Cyrus Orwin Simmons Jr., 83, died Monday, July 20, 1998.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Sparkman-Hillcrest Northwest Highway Chapel with Tom Peel officiating. Burial will be at 4 p.m. today in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mr. Simmons was born Nov. 1, 1914. He worked for 50 years in beauty salon design and equipment sales. He started his career as a salesman in Wichita Falls in the 1940s with E.A. Fretz Co., and he worked his way up to become president in the 1960s. He used his draftsman skills to design the three-way styling station.
Survivors include his wife, Helen of Dallas; a daughter, Glenda Kay Simmons of Dallas; a sister, Rosa E. Hoffman of Cleveland, Ohio; and a granddaughter.

Marjorie Schaumberg
Marjorie Schaumberg, 90, died Thursday, July 23, 1998, at a local nursing center.
Services will be at a later date in Hope Rural Cemetery in Hornell, N.Y., under the direction of Bender-Brown & Powers Funeral Home of Hornell. Local arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Schaumberg was born March 30, 1908, in Brookfield, Penn. Her husband, Carylile Thompson, died in 1934. Her husband, Paul Schaumberg, died in 1963. She was a retired florist. She was a past matron and secretary of the Ivanhoe Chapter No. 160 Order of Eastern Star. She was the past president of the Matron's Association, Stueben District, a life member of Steuben Lamp Lighters, a life member of the Rebekah's Lodge No. 105 Hornell, a member of the Women's Ministries of Canisteo Assembly of God and a member of Park United Methodist Church of Hornell.
Survivors include a daughter, Rita Tyson of Burkburnett; a brother, Warren Fenton of Penn Yan, N.Y.; and a grandson, James Tyson of Culpeper, Va.
Mattie Calvert Morrison
Mattie Larena Calvert Morrison, 88, of Wichita Falls died Thursday, July 23, 1998, at a local hospice center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Chapel with Ken Holsberry officiating. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery.
Mrs. Morrison was born May 13, 1910, in Wilbarger County, Texas. She and Buster W. 'Butch' Morrison were married Oct. 15, 1935. He died Dec. 4, 1970. She worked in retail sales at Woolworth's until 1960. She was a volunteer at the Northside Girl's Club from 1948 until 1960. She was a lifetime member of the Parent Teacher Association and was a past president. She was a member of the 10th and Austin Church of Christ and a lifetime member of 10th and Broad Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School for a number of years.
Survivors include two sons, John of Wichita Falls and Roye Lee of Dallas; five daughters, Beth Davis of Burkburnett, Jane Morrison of Burleson, Texas, Joan Baum of Fort Worth, Gay Word of Lubbock, Texas, and Mitzi Trammell of Wichita Falls; a sister, Opal Elizabeth Roye; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Willie Mae Dean
Willie Mae Dean, 79, of Wichita Falls died Wednesday, July 22, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Wells Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Angus Thompson, pastor of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dean was born Aug. 11, 1918, in Vernon, Texas. She attended school in Vernon. She was a lifetime resident of Wichita Falls.

Wilma Lou Howl
VERNON, Texas - Wilma Lou Howl, 71, died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at a Vernon hospital following a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Sullivan Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Parks of First Baptist Church of Vernon officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.
Mrs. Howl was born Jan. 23, 1927, in Vernon. She and W.E. 'Gene' Howl were married Sept. 24, 1946, in Vernon. He died July 25, 1980. She had been a lifetime resident of Vernon and was a member of First Baptist Church of Vernon. She founded the Alanon Program in Vernon and was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society.
Survivors include a son, George Dale Howl of Vernon; a daughter, Mary Beth Swanson of Pasadena, Texas; a stepson, W.E. Howl Jr. of Arlington, Texas; a stepmother, Evelyn Teel of Delight, Ark.; two half-brothers, Robert and Dale Teel, both of Delight; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. today.
The family will be at 2601 Center Drive in Vernon.
Elah Wall
VERNON, Texas – Elah Wall, 93, died Friday, July 24, 1998, at her residence following a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Big Valley Cemetey, near Medicine Mound, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wall was born Aug. 17, 1904, in Hunt County, Texas. She and Raymond Lon Wall were married Nov. 11, 1923, in Medicine Mound. She was a homemaker, an artist and a poet. She was a member of South Main Church of Christ of Vernon. She had been a longtime resident of Hardeman and Wilbarger counties. A son, Murell, died in 1995.
Survivors include her husband; a son, Marteen of Chillicothe, Texas; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Lois M. Rea
MARBLE HILL, Mo. – Lois M. Rea, 77, of Marble Hill died Thursday, July 23, 1998, at the family home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Liley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Burchette officiating. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery near Marble Hill.
Mrs. Rea was born May 29, 1921, in Zalma, Mo. She and Hobert Rea were married in April 1939. She was a member of Zalma General Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 5900 of Marble Hill.
Survivors include four sons, Larry G. of Alton, Ill., Hobert W. of Villa Ridge, Mo., Edward C. of East Alton, Ill., and Terry M. of Marble Hill; a brother, Charles Dinkins Jr.; four sisters, Jessie Mahon of Blythville, Ark., Opal Bailey of Hayti, Mo., Idella Maxine Fee of Marble Hill and Gertrude Marsh of St. Louis; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A.J. Reynolds
A.J. Reynolds, 82, of Wichita Falls died Tuesday, July 21, 1998, at a local hospice center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Southside Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Nichols, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Reynolds was born Oct. 11, 1915, in Wolfe City, Texas. He and Frances Genevieve ‘Bee’ Pharr were married April 17, 1939, in Wolfe City. He served in the Army during World War II. He was a member and a deacon of Southside Baptist Church, AARP, American Legion Post No. 169, Wichita Wagons R.V. Club and Good Sam Club. He had retired from the Coca Cola Bottling Company as a service manager after 39 years of service. He was a former Gideon.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Della Demeson and Joyce Henry, both of Austin, Texas; a brother, Pat; a sister, Juanita Erwin; three granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Ned E. Patton
Ned E. Patton, 59, of Chattanooga, Okla., died Thursday, July 23, 1998, in Houston.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Chattanooga with the Rev. Paul Cunningham, pastor of Fain Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls, officiating. Burial will be in Chattanooga Cemetery under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.
Mr. Patton was born Aug. 22, 1938, in Grandfield, Okla. He and LaVerne Patterson were married June 20, 1958, in Wichita Falls. He graduated from Chattanooga High School and attended Southern Methodist University and Rice University. He retired from IBM with 30 years of service as a systems engineer and marketing specialist. He began his career as a programmer/specialist with White Stores Inc. in 1958. He lived in Wichita Falls for many years, and founded Patton Education Specialists, Inc./Education Technologies in 1992. He was one of the original certified data processors by the Data Processing Management Association. He was the owner of Patton Limousin Ranch and was involved in farming and ranching. He was an elder in the Presbyterian Church, and involved in Fain Presbyterian in Wichita Falls and Community Presbyterian in Chattanooga.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Larry Ned of Fort Worth and Lindy of Stamford, Texas; his parents, Woodrow and Wildred Patton of Chattanooga; a sister, Barbara Zimmerle of Houston; and five grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 2-3 p.m. Sunday.

Gladys Julian Whisnand
IOWA PARK – Gladys Julian Hampton Whisnand, 88, of Iowa Park died Thursday, July 23, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Iowa Park Church of Christ with Dwight Parker, minister of Church of Christ of Grandfield, Okla., officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Whisnand was born May 30, 1910, in Round Timber, Texas. She and Homer Guy Whisnand were married Nov. 21, 1930, in Walters, Okla. He died Dec. 15, 1993. She was a beautician and was a member of Iowa Park Church of Christ. A daughter, Doris Jean, died in 1932. A daughter, Sybil Ruth Leslie, died in 1982.
Survivors include a granddaughter, Debra Smith of New Caney, Texas; two grandsons, Cleve and Steve Brock, both of Houston; and five great-grandchildren.
