ARCHER CITY, Texas – Artie Estelle Sullivan, 88, died Monday, July 27, 1998, in a Belton, Texas, nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Archer City with the Rev. Willie Johnson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sullivan was born Dec. 31, 1909, in Archer City. She and Charlie Marshall Sullivan were married Sept. 22, 1925, in Archer City. He died Aug. 19, 1981. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Patsy Ruth Barnard of Arlington, Texas, Ann Meredith and Vesta "Cissy" Miller, both of Belton; a son, Hugh M. "Sonny" of Belton; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

VERNON, Texas – Cole Jarrett Arroyo, infant son of Santos and Sarah White Arroyo, died Monday, July 27, 1998, in Altus, Okla.

Richard Atwood
SEYMOUR, Texas - Richard Atwood, 64, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in a Seymour hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church with A.B. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.
Mr. Atwood was born Aug. 19, 1933, in Front Royal, Va. He and Eva Hamilton were married in 1978 in Seymour. He served in Korea in the Army. He moved to Seymour in 1955 and worked as a truck driver for the Permian Corporation for 20 years before retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7871 and the Downtown Men's Bible Class.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Rick of College Station, Texas; a daughter, Candace Vickers of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Ruby Mitchell of Strausburg, Va., and Barbara Riddle of Charleston, S.C.; two stepsons, Terry Hamilton and Eldon Roy Hamilton, both of Rockwall, Texas; a stepdaughter, Becky Trimuar of Royce City, Texas; two grandchildren; eight step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.

IOWA PARK - Louise Yarbrough, 85, died Sunday, July 26, 1998, in Iowa Park.
Graveside services were at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Highland Cemetery with Dr. Greg Ammons, pastor, officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Yarbrough was born April 3, 1913, in Texas. She and Roy Yarbrough were married May 22, 1928, in Red Spring, Texas. He died in 1964. She was a retired seamstress for Levi Strauss and a member of Faith Baptist Church. She had lived in Iowa Park for 62 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Billie Matthews of Iowa Park; a sister, Rena Loftin of California; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

ELECTRA - Ernestine Monroe Hansard, 36, died Monday, July 27, 1998, in Electra.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Dick Sparks Cemetery with the Rev. Ernest King, minister of Eastside Church of Christ in Electra, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hansard was born Jan. 26, 1962, in Vernon, Texas. She graduated from Electra High School in 1980. She was a nurse's aide at Presbyterian Manor and was a member of Eastside Church of Christ. She had lived in Electra for 28 years and was a former resident of Vernon.
Survivors include her husband, James of Dean, Texas; her father, Ernest Monroe of Electra; her mother, Onie Monrie of Electra; a son, Darren Monroe of Electra; five sisters, Carol Dickerson of Vernon, Marsha Gammage, Sharon Jones and Lee Onie Monroe, all of Electra, and Pam Herdon of Lawton, Okla.; and three brothers, Doug Monroe of Electra, Wayne Monroe of Burkburnett and Larry Whiteside of Midland, Texas.

Ruth A. Ablia
Ruth A. Ablia, 79, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in a Wichita Falls nursing center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home with the Rev. Wade Hood, pastor of West Side Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Mrs. Ablia was born Nov. 21, 1918, near Nocona, Texas. She retired in 1973 after 20 years with A&P Grocery, and she had worked at the Crockett Elementary School cafeteria for many years. She was a member of West Side Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School. Her husband, Joe, died in 1984.
Survivors include four brothers, James McLaughlin of Wichita Falls, Jackie McLaughlin of Vista, Calif., Don McLaughlin of Bowie, Texas, and Dan McLaughlin of Soap Lake, Wash.; and a sister, Cleo Trautman of Soap Lake.

J.W. 'Tab' Dowlen
TEMPLE, Okla. - J.W. "Tab" Dowlen, 89, of Temple died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, in a Madill, Okla., nursing home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Temple with the Rev. Lynn Murray officiating. Burial will be in Temple Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home.
Mr. Dowlen was born Sept. 28, 1908, near Byers, Texas. He and Helen Estelle Hooper were married Nov. 26, 1934, in Temple. He moved to Temple in 1912 and attended Valley View School until 1916. He graduated from Temple High School in 1926. While in high school he was a member of the track and football teams. He attended Central State College in Edmond, Okla. He was a cashier at First National Bank, now First State Bank, in Temple. He farmed on Beaver Creek and the Red River for 67 years and operated Bone Gin from 1955-75. He served on the Oklahoma State Board of Agriculture and in 1988 was awarded the Pioneer Award as the only surviving member of the original board of directors of Cotton Electric Cooperative.
Survivors include a son, Gordon of Madill; a sister, Pauline Duncan of Duncan, Okla.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Michael Dean Crump
Michael "Thumper" Dean Crump, 58, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Burkburnett Cemetery with Anastasio Perez, deacon at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Mr. Crump was born May 31, 1940, in Appleton, Mo. He and Lucy Garcia were married in 1959. He was a retired truck driver and had been a staff sergeant in the Air Force. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Betty of Clinton, Mo.; five sons, William Mark of Lillington, N.C., and Anthony Stephen, Jimmy Lee, Devin Scott and Robert Neal, all of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Tameria Rodriguez and Lucinda Munoz, both of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Brenda Knox of Butler, Mo., Teresa Jaro of Humbolt, Kan., and Kathy Graham of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Donnie of Clinton and Terry of Deepwater, Mo.; 24 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Stephen Lee Head
FORT WORTH - Stephen Lee Head, 43, died Sunday, July 26, 1998, in Independence, Kan.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Crestview Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Mount Olivet Funeral Home.
Mr. Head was born April 16, 1955, in Wichita Falls. He grew up in Wichita Falls and graduated from Hirschi High School in 1973. He worked for Ameron Pipe Company from 1975-95 and for the past three years had lived in Independence.
Survivors include his wife, Jan of Independence; two sons, Brandon Lee Green of Wichita Falls and Stephen Lee Jr. of Shawnee, Okla.; three daughters, Stephanie Lee Ann, Stormie LoyRee and Selinda Jean, all of Shawnee; his mother, Jeannie Head of Wichita Falls; and a sister, Renee McFather of North Richland Hills, Texas.

Charlie Roland Caroland, 100, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in a Wichita Falls care center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Church of Christ in Charlie, Texas, with Mike Priddy officiating. Burial will be in Charlie Cemetery under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Downtown Chapel.
Mr. Caroland was born May 14, 1898, in Clarksville, Tenn. He was a farmer and a member of the Church of Christ in Charlie.
Survivors include two sons, Gene of Charlie and Myron of Kamay; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
John S. Gilliland Jr.
QUANAH, Texas - John Sanford Gilliland Jr., 62, died Monday, July 27, 1998, in his Quanah home.
Arrangements were under the direction of Price-Jackson Funeral Home.
Mr. Gilliland was born Oct. 18, 1935, in Quanah. He was a graduate of Texas Christian University. He was past president of Quanah Lions Club and a was a volunteer and fund-raiser at Thompson-Sawyer Library.
Survivors include a sister, Martha Mullen of Pullman, Wash., and three cousins, Cindy Reinhardt of Lubbock, Janice Caskey Sills of Bryan, Texas, and John Herman Caskey of Lamesa, Texas.

Geraldine Meason
QUANAH, Texas - Geraldine Farrar Meason of Quanah died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jesse Dea officiating. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Price-Jackson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Meason was born in Frankston, Texas. She graduated from high school in Monticello, Ark. She attended North Texas University, the University of Arkansas and Hardin Simmons University, and did graduate work at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She taught school in Knox County, Texas; Wichita Falls; Tokyo, Japan; and Quanah and retired after 34 years. She became curator of Hardeman County Museum in 1975. She was a lifetime member of 1904 Club, Delta Kappa Gamma, Colonial Dames, Daughters of the American Revolution, Texas State Teachers Association and the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Goodloe Meason of Quanah; a son, Bill Rogers of Houston; three daughter, Sue Knox of Quanah, Patricia Hurt of Amarillo, Texas, and Doris Elston of Lubbock; and a sister, Maxine Kennedy of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
Mary Gay Robertson
OLNEY, Texas - Mary Gay Hudson Robertson, 96, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, in her Olney home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Sansom of Waco, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robertson was born Oct. 4, 1901, in Graham, Texas. She and Dr. Edward Fern Robertson were married Nov. 8, 1923, in Mineral Wells, Texas. He died Dec. 10, 1989. She had lived in Olney since 1923. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and served as an organist for more than 45 years. She was a charter member of the Junior Altruistic Club. She was also a member of the Olney Hamilton Hospital Auxiliary and the Silas Morton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Graham. She attended school in Graham and attended College at Kidd Key in Sherman, Texas. She also attended Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio, and Converse College in Spartenburg, N.C. She was a homemaker. A daughter, Marjorie Ann Key, died April 10, 1990.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Joe E. Robertson of Graham; two daughters, Mary Gay Larance of Wichita Falls and Kay Cromartie of Atlanta; a sister, Dorothy Gruby of Graham; 12 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

Thelma Murray
HENRIETTA, Texas – Thelma Murray, 86, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at a Henrietta hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Davis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Daniel, pastor of Sunnyside Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Nocona Cemetery.
Mrs. Murray was born May 22, 1912, in Olney, Texas. She and Barnes Murray were married June 18, 1942, in Huntsville, Texas. He died June 14, 1966. She was a homemaker and a member of Sunnyside Baptist Church of Wichita Falls.
Survivors include a sister, Ruth Marie Ozee of Jolly, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be the funeral home today from 7-8 p.m.
Claudia Henigan
Claudia Henigan, 87, died Monday, July 27, 1998, in a Wichita Falls care center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with R.L. Castle, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery under the direction of Young & Company Funeral Home.
Mrs. Henigan was born March 19, 1911, in Kaufman, Texas. She did domestic work in a private home and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. She had lived in Wichita Falls for 56 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Becky Polk of Wichita Falls and Bernice Henigan of Hearne, Texas; two sons, Courtland and James Hamilton, both of Wichita Falls; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Myrtle Culver Faulkner
Myrtle Agnes Culver Faulkner, 74, died Wednesday, July 29, 1998, at her Wichita Falls residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Chapel with the Rev. Larry Brownfield officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Faulkner was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Dublin, Texas. Her husband, Mack Faulkner, died April 12, 1980. She was a sales lady at a department store for 10 years. She was a member of Lamar Baptist Church of Wichita Falls.
Survivors include two sons, Phillip of Burkburnett and Ronnie of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Brenda Nebling of Altus, Okla.; two sisters, Bertha Lincoln of Wichita Falls and Bonnie Stone of Dublin; a brother, Travis Culver of Dublin; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

DALLAS – Ronald Cotton, 49, died Thursday, July 23, 1998, in Denver.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Cedar Crest Funeral Home, 4830 Lancaster in Dallas with the Rev. Eric Collins officiating.
Mr. Cotton was born March 3, 1949, in Wichita Falls. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1967. He joined the Army in 1968. He was an automobile salesman for the Salvation Army Car Sales of Denver. He had lived in Wichita Falls for 30 years. He was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rolanda of Wichita Falls; his father, Fred Jo Collins of Dallas; three brothers, Fred and Norman, both of Wichita Falls, and Norris of Dallas; three sisters, Ethel and Jennifer Cotton, both of Wichita Falls, and Shelia Cotton of Atlanta; and three grandchildren.

Edward Allan Choate
SEYMOUR, Texas – Edward Allan Choate, 86, of Seymour died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at a Seymour nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Chandler, Texas, Cemetery with the Rev. Gary Fitzgerald and the Rev. Bill Yohe, pastors of First United Methodist Church of Chandler, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Seymour Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Choate was born June 30, 1912, in Dierks, Ark. He and Oma Lee Davis were married Sept. 21, 1934, in Marietta, Okla. She died Sept. 2, 1986. He was an oilfield driller and a union pipefitter. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Chandler.
Survivors include a daughter, Wilma C. Hutchinson of Seymour; and three grandchildren.

HASKELL, Texas – Lakin Pake Rosenquist, infant son of Devery and Shana Rosenquist, died Tuesday, July 28, 1998, at a Fort Worth hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at East Side Baptist Church of Haskell with the Rev. David Page and the Rev. Robert Wingrove officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Stamford, Texas.
Lakin was born June 25, 1998.
