Verne Chambliss
Verne Chambliss, 68, of Wichita Falls died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Christmas, pastor of Allendale Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mr. Chambliss was born April 25, 1930, in Eros, La. He and Polly Gillespie were married Oct. 20, 1960, in Homer, Ark. He was a master sergeant for the Air Force, retiring after 21 years of service. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jan Hamilton of Iowa Park; a son, James Kelley Chambliss of Vidor, Texas; three brothers, Boyce, Joyce and Bobby, all of Eros; a sister, Betty of Eros; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Wichita Falls.
Nelda Alberta Mullen
ELECTRA - Nelda Alberta Rhoton Mullen, 82, of Electra died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Charles Nichols, pastor of Southside Church of Christ, and the Rev. Larry B. Russel of Amarillo, Texas, officiating. Burial will be in Electra Memorial Park under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mullen was born Oct. 23, 1915, in Monroe County, Mo. She and Van Buren Mullen were married Feb. 13, 1936, in Frederick, Okla. He died in 1975. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church in Electra.
Survivors include two daughters, Nita Carter of Fort Worth and Voncille Jones of Electra; a son, Billy of Electra; a brother, J.T. Rhoton of Lumberton, Texas; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Billy D. Mathews
ARCHER CITY, Texas - Billy D. Mathews, 60, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, in his Lake Kickapoo, Texas, residence.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Archer City Cemetery with the Rev. Eugene Bullard, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Archer City, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Mr. Mathews was born Nov. 10, 1937, in Carnegie, Okla. He and Jean Mathews were married March 3, 1972, in Wichita Falls. He moved to Wichita Falls in 1956 and moved to Lake Kickapoo in 1991. He was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Army and had been stationed in Germany, Fort Sill and Fort Hood. He had served as a staff sergeant in food service. He was a former member of Veterans of Foreign Wars in Nebraska and Post No. 202 Green Pierce American Legion in Wichita Falls. He had been an oil field worker for most of his life.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Danny of Lake Kickapoo; a daughter, Raeanne; four brothers, Larry and Cliff, both of Wichita Falls, Sam of Keller, Texas, and Ricky of Granbury, Texas; three sisters, Martha Welch of Fort Worth, and Loretta Baron and LaVerne Portor, both of Wichita Falls.
The family will be at the funeral home from 10-10:30 a.m. Wednesday for visitation.

Mike Duncan
Mike Duncan, 71, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 1998, in his Wichita Falls home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Chapel with the Rev. Max Dowling, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park.
Mr. Duncan was born June 23, 1927, in Vernon, Texas. He was a co-owner/operator of Baker-Duncan Van & Storage in Wichita Falls for more than 50 years. He was a charter member of Sunrise Optimists Club and was a member of Highland Heights Christian Church. He was a Gold Coat Ambassador and a private pilot. He was a member of the American Heart Association and the American Red Cross. He was a veteran of the Navy.
Survivors include two daughters, Polly Wilkinson and Jenny Barmore, both of Wichita Falls; a sister, Patsy Hunter of Wichita Falls; and two grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 this evening for visitation.

Louise Richardson
MOUNT PLEASANT, Texas - Louise Richardson, 86, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, in her Wichita Falls home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Bates-Cooper-Robison Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Richardson was born Nov. 26, 1911, in Lindale, Texas. She and Harrold H. Richardson were married March 26, 1932. He died June 7, 1971. She was a homemaker and a longtime resident of Mount Pleasant before moving to Wichita Falls in 1990. She was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church and attended First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls, where she was a member of the Discovery Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two sons, Niles of Mount Pleasant and Danny R. of Wichita Falls; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Ruth Driver Brown
GRAHAM, Texas - Ruth Driver Brown, 76, of Graham died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Jimmy McNeil, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Brooks Cemetery in Young County, Texas, under the direction of Morrison Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brown was born March 13, 1922, in Bunger, Texas. She and Ray Brown were married May 6, 1939, in Graham. She was a lifetime resident of Graham and a member of Faith Baptist Church. She was a retired private duty nurse.Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Betty Roberts of Jacksboro, Texas, Annette Snider, Barbara Trice, Helen Gowens and Beverly Brogdon, all of Graham; three sons, Dennis of Red Oak, Texas, Wendell of Graham and Bobby of Sarasota, Fla.; three sisters, Alta Shahan and Ruby Brooks, both of Graham, and Ollie Mae Shahan of Carlsbad, N.M.; 18 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Billy Hudspeth
BOWIE, Texas - Billy Hudspeth, 75, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, in a Bowie hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Elmwood Cemetery with Randy Bard, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Bowie, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Hudspeth was born Nov. 15, 1922, in Rip, Texas. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He was the retired owner of Hudspeth Beach on Amon G. Carter Lake in Bowie. He had lived in Bowie for 55 years.
Survivors include a brother, Paul of Ennis, Texas; a niece, Marge Ayers of Garland, Texas; and a nephew, Ronald of Ennis.

G.W. 'Dub' Scarberry
G.W. "Dub" Scarberry, 65, of Burkburnett died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Montague Cemetery with the Rev. Paul Kuykendall, pastor of Evangel Temple, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Mr. Scarberry was born Dec. 29, 1932, in Hobart, Texas. He and Jerry Lewis were married May 5, 1954, in Clovis, N.M. He worked for Daniels Construction Co. and retired in 1980. He lived most of his life in the Wichita Falls area.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Sharon Browning of Rosston, Texas, DeAuta Vernon of Valley View, Texas, Wanda Winkleblack of Lake Kickapoo, Texas, and Gerry Groves of Petrolia, Texas; three sisters, Wynell Norton of Burkburnett, Louise Pitts of Arkansas and Sybil Roberts of Quanah, Texas; and nine grandchildren.

Teddy Ray Brown
Teddy Ray "Teddy Bear" Brown, 57, of Nelson, Ga., died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Salvation Army Chapel on Seymour Highway. A luncheon will be in the fellowship hall after the services. Flowers may be sent to the chapel between 9 and 10 a.m. Friday. Arrangements are under the direction of Sosebee Funeral Home in Canton, Ga.
Mr. Brown was born April 12, 1941, in Wichita Falls. He was a singer, songwriter and musician, and played drums in a band called Teddy & the Teddy Bears.
Survivors include his wife, Anita Gray; a son, Lloyd R. of Texas; three brothers, Billy Ray, Marvin and Grady; and a sister, Shirley Ann Bates.
Elizabeth Jackson
VERNON, Texas - Elizabeth Jackson, 97, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, in an Arlington, Texas, nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Eastview Cemetery with the Rev. Derrell Patterson, minister of the First Methodist Church in Vernon, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Sullivan Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jackson was born Jan. 12, 1901, in Seymour, Texas. She and Irvin Lee Jackson were married in September 1942 in Yuma, Ariz. She lived in Vernon where she worked as a bookkeeper and operator at Jackson Implement Company and John Deere Company. She moved to Wichita Falls in 1957 and moved to California in 1972. She was a member of Daughters of the Nile, Order of the Eastern Star in California, and was a former active member of the First Baptist Church in Pasadena, Calif., and had been a Sunday School teacher for nine years.
Survivors include six nieces, Vivian Andrews of Sherman Oaks, Calif., Sue Carol Russell of Vernon, Faye Zinzer of Lubbock, Texas, Lillian Shell of Eugene, Ore., Bonnie Jo Sanford of Ralls, Texas, and Mary Ann Hyatt of Missouri City, Texas; a nephew, John L. Waggoner Jr. of Electra; and two stepdaughters, Doris Bodeker of Stamford and Janis Brown of Bellevue, Neb.

Leroy Estes
OLNEY, Texas - Leroy Estes, 67, of Olney died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lunn Funeral Home with Scotte Clark, minister of Hamilton Street Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery.
Mr. Estes was born March 7, 1931, in Bryson, Texas. He was a member of the Hamilton Street Church of Christ. He worked for Red Livingston as a truck driver for many years and also worked as an oil field pumper. He moved to Olney from Graford, Texas, in 1943.
Survivors include his sister, Wanda Ickert of Olney; two nieces; and a nephew.

Melvin Charles Wesley
VERNON, Texas - Melvin Charles "M.C." Wesley, 54, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, in his Vernon home.

Mr. Wesley was born Oct. 30, 1943, in Henderson, Texas. He and Mary Nell Carpenter were married in 1960 in Vernon. He lived most of his life in Vernon and was a member of Wood Street Baptist Church. He was a former truck driver and worked in maintenance at Wright Brand Foods.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Mitchell of Dallas, Melvin of Wichita Falls and Dewayne of Stamford, Texas; four daughters, Regina and Vickie, both of Dallas, and Nickie and Selena, both of Vernon; three brothers, Johnny Ray Finley and Cloeth'e Finley, both of Henderson, and Junior Finley of Wichita Falls; and a sister, Willie Faye of Vernon.
George Thomas Myers
ABILENE, Texas - George Thomas "Tom" Myers, 71, of Abilene died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, in a Dallas hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home in Abilene. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Myers was born in Bellevue, Texas. He and Frances Winingham were married Aug. 28, 1948, in Bellevue. He grew up in the Friendship community and graduated from Bellevue High School. He served two years in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in the Philippines and served with the Occupation Forces in Japan. He moved to Abilene from Bowie, Texas, in 1960. He spent many years working in the oil fields in Texas and owned and operated Rig Testers, Inc., an oil field service company. He was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church in Abilene and was a 50-year Mason in the Bowie Masonic Lodge. He was a member of West Central Texas Oil and Gas Association and the Abilene Petroleum Club. During his retirement, he was active in the Fore Travel Club.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Randall "Randy" of Abilene; a daughter, Nancy Anthony of Colleyville, Texas; two sisters, Margaret Johnson of Wichita Falls and Ethel Anderson of Dallas; and five grandchildren.
John Dennis Risinger
QUANAH, Texas - John Dennis 'J.D.' Risinger, 85, of Quanah died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, in a Hardeman County, Texas, hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Quanah Memorial Park with the Rev. John Spangler, pastor of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating and Randy Akers assisting. Arrangements are under the direction of Price-Jackson Funeral Home.
Mr. Risinger was born Feb. 27, 1913, in Hardeman County, Texas. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army. He was a lifetime resident of Quanah and a Baptist. He had owned and operated service stations in the area for more than 20 years.Survivors include a daughter, Janet Risinger Jones of Quanah; two sons, Dennis D. and Spencer Earl, both of Quanah; three brothers, Fred of Paris, Texas, W.L. of Hugo, Okla., and Carl of Houston; a sister, Tollie Bee Pool of Hugo; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Debbie K. Hickerson
FREDERICK, Okla. - Debbie K. Coleman Hickerson, 42, of Davidson, Okla., died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, in a Frederick hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Davidson with Brother R.K. Miles officiating. Burial will be in Davidson Cemetery under the direction of Gish Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hickerson was born Oct. 8, 1955, in Lodi, Calif. She and Ricky Coleman were married in 1972 in Clinton, Okla. She and Ronnie Hickerson were married in July 1996 in Vernon, Texas. She attended school in Arapaho, Okla. She moved to Davidson in 1983. She worked for Schlegel Industries for the past seven years. She was a member of Davidson First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, Lillian Suddreth; three sons, Ricky, Billy and Aron Coleman, all of Davidson; two daughters, Tammy Smith and Shonna Coleman, both of Davidson; three brothers, Johnny Burkhart of Davidson, David Burkhart of Atoka, Okla., and Kenny Burkhart of Dill City, Okla.; a twin sister, Donna Williams of Eakly, Okla.; a sister, Glenda Burkhart of Tulsa, Okla.; and three grandchildren.

Cleo Capehart Davis
WAURIKA, Okla. - Cleo Capehart Davis, 93, died Saturday, Aug. 15, 1998, in a Jefferson County hospital.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Dale Crow, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Willis C. Worley and Son Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis was born Feb. 11, 1905, near Broken Bow in what is now Oklahoma. She and Stub Davis were married in 1936 in Oklahoma City. He died March 15, 1985. She grew up in Oklahoma City where she graduated from high school. She moved to Ryan, Okla., in 1925 where her family opened Capehart's Variety Store and later in the same year opened a second store in Waurika. The family sold the variety stores in 1947 and opened Davis Flower Shop. She retired in 1989. She was a longtime member of the Waurika Chamber of Commerce and First Christian Church in Waurika.
Survivors include a son, Jim of Waurika; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Melvin Charles Wesley
VERNON, Texas - Melvin Charles "M.C." Wesley, 54, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, in his Vernon home following a lengthy illness.

Francisco Ramirez
Francisco Ramirez, 48, of Wichita Falls died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, in an Oklahoma City hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Josh Ibarra, pastor of First Mexican Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Crestview Chapel.
Mr. Ramirez was born Nov. 22, 1949, in Lubbock, Texas. He and Erlinda Ramirez were married Feb. 15, 1982, in Brownfield, Texas. He owned and operated a paint and body shop in Wichita Falls.
Survivors include three sons, Christopher of Vancouver, Wash., Joe Cortez of Wichita Falls and David Cortez of Beaverton, Ore.; four daughters, Isabel Cortez of Aloha, Ore., and Maggie Cortez, Eloisa Ramirez and Noemi Ramirez, all of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Mary Munoz of Los Lunes, N.M., and Juanita Mead of Albuquerque, N.M.; three brothers, Natividad of Wichita Falls, George of Brownfield and Thomas of Yuma, Ariz.; and nine grandchildren.

Thomas F. Rasile
Thomas F. Rasile, 65, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, in his Wichita Falls residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with the Rev. Ivor Koch, pastor, officiating. Burial with full military graveside services will be in Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Crestview Chapel.
Mr. Rasile was born Jan. 9, 1933, in Boston. His wife, Ida Mae Rasile, died Sept. 30, 1993. He was a veteran of the Air Force, serving in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He retired as a master sergeant in the Air Force after 21 years of service on Dec. 1, 1971. He worked for the city of Wichita Falls Human Resources for 10 years. He retired as a comptroller for the Work Services Corporation of Wichita Falls January 1995. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ovil Christine Williams Rasile; a daughter, Diana Lynn Cantu of San Antonio; three sons, Thomas 'Tony' F. and Joseph 'Joe' L., both of Wichita Falls, and John R. of Waynesboro, Va.; and four grandchildren.
