CHILLICOTHE, Texas -- Maudie Virginia Horn, 79, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, in a Vernon nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Chillicothe Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Weems officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Manard Funeral Home.
Mrs. Horn was born July 31, 1919, in Arkadelphia, Ark. She and Elton Horn were married Sept. 30, 1939, in Vernon, Texas. She was a retired certified nurses aide and had also worked in the Chillicothe school cafeteria for many years. She was a longtime Hardeman County resident and was a member of the Odell Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Wade of Chillicothe and Keith of Abilene, Texas; two sisters, Vina Strayhorn of Copeville, Texas, and Flora Archer of Merritt, Texas; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Infant Roberts
Infant Roberts, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Roberts of Wichita Falls, died Thursday, Sept. 23, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Crestview Memorial Park with Brian Eby, Director of Family Enrichment at First Baptist Church, officiating.
Survivors include his parents; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Roberts of Suwannee, Ga., and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Thrift of Afton, Va.; sister, Christina of Wichita Falls.
Barbara 'Totsie' Clark
Barbara 'Totsie' Clark, 76, of Wichita Falls died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, in a local care center.
Rosary will be said this evening at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in Bowman Cemetery in Lakeside City with the Rev. Aidan Donlon officiating.
Mrs. Clark was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Henrietta, Texas. She and Melvin Tom Clark were married Dec. 26, 1939, in Henrietta. He died May 19, 1971. She had lived in Wichita Falls since 1939. She was a home health aide and a volunteer for the Friendship House. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served on the phone committee for church remodeling.
Survivors include two sons, Melvin David of Gilmer, Texas, and Marvin Ernest of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Marlene Likely of Wichita Falls; two brothers, Leonard Melvin Klein and Linus Klein, both of Henrietta; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Tylene Beasley
Tylene Beasley, 69, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Crestview Memorial Park with the Rev. William Etheredge officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Beasley was born Nov. 4, 1928, in Wichita Falls. She retired from the dietary department at Wichita General Hospital and had worked as a telemarketer for Amvets. She was a member of Pecanway Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Larry and Jerry, both of Wichita Falls; a daughter, Sandra Reberger of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Gayle Ross of Wichita Falls and Lena Garvin of Petrolia, Texas; a brother, L.B. Hankins of Wichita Falls; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Ruben E. Barnett
TEMPLE, Okla. -- Ruben E. Barnett, 86, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, in his Temple residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Temple Cemetery with the Rev. Benny Gresham officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home.
Mr. Barnett was born Dec. 3, 1911, in Hendrix, Okla. He and Ledie Janousek were married Dec. 3, 1931, in Lawton, Okla. He moved to Fletcher, Okla., where he farmed. He moved to California in 1947 where he worked at a barrel factory manufacturing wine barrels. He later went to work for Northern Pacific Railroad. He left Modesto, Calif., in 1971 and moved to Temple where he worked for Hagger Slacks until his retirement. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Temple and belonged to the Local Union No. 1130 in California.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Rodney Davis of Fort Collins, Colo.; three daughters, Rosie Capps of Prescott, Ark., and Juanita Smith and Rebina Tucker, both of Temple; a brother, Jess of Sterling, Okla.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
Bobby James Campa Jr.
Bobby James Campa Jr., infant son of Bobby James Campa and Lori Nettles Campa, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Sacred Heart Cemetery with the Rev. Hector Medina officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home.
Bobby was born Sept. 22, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Survivors include his parents; two sisters, Heather and Andrea, both of Wichita Falls; and his grandparents, Maura Figueroa of Wichita Falls, Maggie Rhodes of Iowa Park and James Nettles of South Carolina.
Edythe Hazel Smyer
Edythe Hazel Smyer, 98, of Wichita Falls died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, in a local care center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Zug, pastor of Highland Heights Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Smyer was born Feb. 8, 1900, in what is now Okarche, Okla. Her husband, Houston C. Smyer, died in 1974. She was a Wichita Falls resident for 45 years. She began work in 1918 as a pioneer switchboard operator in Chickasha, Okla., with Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She was a member of Highland Heights Christian Church and was an active member in Royal Neighbors of America Fraternal Society.
Survivors include a brother, Kenneth Barnes of Fort Worth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Highland Heights Christian Church in Wichita Falls.
Roy Franklin Sawyer
IOWA PARK - Roy Franklin Sawyer, 83, of Iowa Park died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Services at 11 a.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Dr. Greg Ammons, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, and the Rev. John Besse, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under the direction of Dutton Funeral Home.
Mr. Sawyer was born June 26, 1915, in Clovis, N.M. He and Mary Ruth Clingman were married May 25, 1941, in Walters, Okla. She died Aug. 16, 1998. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1937-1938 and was a veteran of the Army. He worked for John Barbour Trucking Company in the early 1940s, and owned and operated a laundry in the early 1950s. He was a self-employed farmer and custom hay bailer, ditching contractor, worked road boring and was a truck driver.
Survivors include three daughters, Ruth Elaine Dykstra of Austin, Glenda Nan Gonzalez of Bedford, Texas, and Linda Ann Jones of Panama City, Fla.; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation.
Harvey H. Hubbard
RYAN, Okla. -- Harvey H. Hubbard, 86, of Ryan, Okla., died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, in his residence.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church in Ryan with the Rev. Brian Spivey and the Rev. Steve Harshaw officiating. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Grantham-Worley Funeral Home.
Mr. Hubbard was born Dec. 28, 1911, in Howard, S.D. He and Catherine D. Bower were married Jan. 16, 1939, in Tulsa, Okla. He served in the Navy during World War II. He worked for the Union Oil Company and lived in Sapulpa and in Fort Morgan, Colo. He was a member of the VFW and the Ryan First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Hugh of Shreveport, La.; two daughters, Iola Malaby of Cheney, Wash., and Dorothy Seay of Ryan; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Ryan.
Kathy Allison
THROCKMORTON, Texas - Kathy Allison, 42, of Arlington, Texas, died Tuesday, Sept. 22, 1998, in an Arlington nursing home.
Services will at 2 p.m. today at Merriman-Archer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Styles, pastor of the Woodson Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Woodson, Texas, Cemetery under the direction of Merriman-Archer Funeral Home.
Miss Allison was born May 27, 1956, in Grand Prairie, Texas. She lived in Woodson for several years before moving to Breckenridge, Texas, in 1990. She moved to Wichita falls in 1995, and moved to Arlington in April 1998. She served as a nurse's aid for several years and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Survivors include three brothers, Harry Allison and Ronnie Allison, both of Arlington, and Jack Allison of Granbury, Texas; and a sister, Judy Kay Brumley of Wichita Falls.
Bobbie 'LaRue' Marsalis
QUANAH, Texas -- Bobbie 'LaRue' Marsalis, 86, of Quanah died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, in a Quanah hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Quanah First Assembly of God Church in Lawton, Okla., with the Rev. W.E. Ikard, pastor of Gateway Assembly of God Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Quanah Memorial Park under the direction of Price-Jackson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Marsalis was born Nov. 20, 1911, in Goree, Texas. She and Elton Bryan Marsalis were married Nov. 26, 1928, in Quanah. He died April 30, 1982. She had lived in Hardeman County since 1916 and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church, Quanah Garden Club and the Wichita Falls Iris Society.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ann Nelson of Lubbock, Texas; two sons, Jerry Keith of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Stephen Mark of Abilene, Texas; a sister, Lettie Hendricks of Canyon, Texas; a stepsister, Virginia Vandergrift of San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home today from 7-8 p.m. for visitation.
Nancy Freeman Elliot
Nancy Freeman Elliot, 66, of Wichita Falls died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.
Mrs. Elliot was born Aug. 25, 1932, in Montague County, Texas. She was a Catholic.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa Leugemors of Wichita Falls and Merry of Lancaster, Texas; two sons, Edward 'Red' and Ricky, both of Wichita Falls; a sister, Bobbie Jo Pinson of Garland, Texas; a brother, Robert; and two grandchildren.

JACKSOBORO, Texas - Ira Floyd 'Wolf' Whitsitt, 89, of Jacksboro died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, in Jacksboro.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Jacksboro with Brother Norman Rushing officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Coker Funeral Home.
Mr. Whitsitt was born April 21, 1909, in Clay County, Texas. He and Alexine King were married March 25, 1933 in Frederick, Okla. He was the past president of Jacksboro Country Club, was a stock farmer, an oilfield worker and a member of First Baptist Church. His son, Norman F. Whitsitt, died in 1980.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Gayle Berg-Anglo of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Melton Whitsitt of Wichita Falls; four sisters, Eula Fae Watson of Jacksboro, Odell Browning of Atlanta, and Margaret McMahon and Louise Pierson, both of Wichita Falls; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Richard Craton Barrett
JACKSBORO, Texas - Richard Craton Barrett, 84, of Jacksboro died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, in Jacksboro.

Mr. Barrett was born Sept. 25, 1913, in Fort Smith, Ark. He and Sadie Mae Riggs were married Sept. 1 1967, in Durant, Okla. He served in the Navy during World war II and worked as an auto parts salesman. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he was secretary and treasurer of his Sunday school class. A son, Charles, died in October 1993.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Janice Gilmore of Simms, Texas, Carol Ann Tatum of College Station, Texas, and Gail Chastain of Jacksboro; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Mitchell was born Dec. 23, 1912, in Ector County, Texas. He and Jeane Hatter were married June 1, 1941, in Waurika, Okla. He was a retired custodian for Henrietta Independent School District and was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Tommie Jeane Lindsey of Wichita Falls, Donna Frances Morton of Henrietta and Annette Brehm of Wylie, Texas; two sons, Freddie Earl Mitchell of Ranger, Texas, and Jimmy Mitchell of Wichita Falls; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Ural 'Shorty' Sigman
BOWIE, Texas - Ural 'Shorty' Sigman, 85, of Bowie died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, in Bowie.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Bible Baptist Church in Bowie with the Rev. J.C. Cunningham, pastor of Bible Baptist Church, and the Rev. Charles Lowry, assistant pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Sigman was born Oct. 29, 1912, in Nocona, Texas. He and Josie Sigman were married Nov. 6, 1937, in Bowie. He was a cafeteria worker, a member of Bible Baptist Church, and was the honorary lifetime church treasurer.
Survivors include his wife; two sisters, Eula Fulmer of Texarkana, Texas, and Rachel Graves of Grand Prairie, Texas.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bessie Molina, 86, of Wichita Falls died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Owens & Brumley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Josh Ibarra, pastor of First Mexican Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Holliday, Texas, Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Molina was born April 4, 1912, in Vernon, Texas. Her husband, Robert Molina, died in 1985. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Mexican Baptist Church. She was a lifetime resident of Wichita Falls.
Survivors include two sons, Jessie Molina and Rudy Molina, both of Holliday, Texas; two daughters, Juanita Rivas and Mary Stucki, both of Wichita Falls; a brother, Ray Gonzales of Modesto, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.

VERNON, Texas - Eva Dee Shivers, 83, of Vernon died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, at her residence.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Derrell Patterson officiating. Burial will be in Wilbarger Memorial Park under the direction of Community Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shivers was born May 18, 1915, in Vernon. She and G.A. Shivers were married Jan. 1, 1938, in Vernon. She graduated from Vernon High School and attended Texas Women's College. She retired from the Vernon State Hospital and was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Amigos Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Betty Williams and Kay Sandoval both of Lubbock, Texas, and Jackie Bursey of Cedar Creek, Texas; and four grandchildren.

HICO, Texas - Myra Dean Anderson, 68, of Kerrville, Texas, died Friday, Sept. 25, 1998, in Schertz, Texas.

Mrs. Anderson was born Aug. 28, 1930, in Archer City, Texas. Her husband, W.B. 'Bill' died June 26, 1994. She had lived in Kerrville since 1995. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two daughter, Carol Dean of Austin and Lisa Kay Sternburger of Schertz; two sons, Clifford of San Angelo, Texas, and Stan Davis of Rankin, Texas; a sister, Dorothy Spikes of Benjamin, Texas; and six grandchildren.

CHILDRESS, Texas - George Nickerson, 89, of Childress died Thursday, Sept. 24, 1998, in Childress.

Mr. Nickerson was born Sept. 30, 1908, in Carthage, Texas. He and Ethel Preston were married Nov. 6, 1932, in Wills Point, Texas. She died Nov. 21, 1987. He attend the Independent Schools in the Cedar Grove Community in Elmo, Texas. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for many years. He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge No. 51 in Terrell, Texas. He was self employed in the Landscaping business he also worked part time for the City of Childress.
Survivors include nine daughters, Evelyn Monmouth of Houston, Wanda Davis of Centerville, Texas, Jean Martin and Annie Owens, both of Amarillo, Texas, Erma Beck, Sarah Session and Brenda Wells, all of Childress, Cynthia Tratree of Mexia, Texas, and Darlene Hamilton of Altus, Okla.; five sons, Thomas of Topeka, Texas, Ervin, James and Ronnie, all of Amarillo, and Floyd of Plano, Texas; four sisters, Luvenia Dunn, Nadine Dye, Shinnie L. Lister and Lublene, all of Terrell; five brothers, Archie L., Arnold J., Curbie E. Dakota and Roosevelt, all of Terrell; 56 grandchildren; 95 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
