VERNON, Texas - Isabel Perez Platas, 60, of Vernon died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, in a local hospital.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Community Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church with Deacon Terry Burke officiating. Burial will be in Eastview Cemetery.
Mrs. Platas was born June 17, 1938, in Coleman, Texas. She and Octaviano Platas were married Aug. 18, 1986, in Vernon. She worked at Blue Bonnet Laundry and Vernon State Hospital. She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters Janie 'Juanita' Garza of Lansing, Mich., and Antonia Ramos and Ester Saldana, both of Deerfield, Kan., and Angie Saldana of Vernon; five brothers, Fermin Perez of Frederick, Okla., Emilo Perez of Laredo, Texas, Henry and Joe Perez, both of Lansing, and Antonio Perez of Vernon; four sisters, Ciprana Garza of Vernon, Chita Garza of Lansing, Connie Galindo of Denton, Texas, and Tomas Alvarado of Odessa, Texas; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Joe G. Cumby
BOWIE, Texas -- Joe G. Cumby, 67, of Bowie died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, in a Bowie hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church in Bowie with the Rev. Jamie Reed, pastor of the East Side Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Cumby was born Nov. 20, 1930, in Ovalo, Texas. He and Lanna Jo Wood were married June 8, 1981, in Abilene, Texas. He was a lifetime member of the Reddy-McClellan Veterans of Forigen Wars Post No. 8789 in Bowie. He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was a retired bridge construction superintendent for Bailey Construction Company in Abilene. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Donna Bird of Midlothian, Texas; three sons, Joe of Midlothian, Texas, Mickey Gene of Lake Arrowhead, Texas, and Carl Eugene of Bowie; four brothers, Billy Doyle of Carrollton, Texas, Gerald E. of Burleson, Texas, Randall Lynn of Altus, Okla., and Tony Dale of North Richland Hills, Texas; and eight grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home today from 6-9 p.m. for visitation.
Raymond Gene Tatom
IOWA PARK - Raymond Gene Tatom, 66, of Iowa Park died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, in Wichita Falls.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dutton Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Greg Ammons, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Mr. Tatom was born Sept. 25, 1932, in Davidson, Okla. He and Annie Marie Brown were married in 1952 in Wichita County. He had been a resident of Iowa Park since 1949, moving from Oklahoma. He retired from Local 389 Plumbers Union. He worked as a central plant supervisor at Midwestern State University for 15 years, retiring in 1994.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary G. and Terry W., both of Iowa Park; two daughters, Linda A. Duggins and Louise A. Tatom, both of Iowa Park; two sisters, Jerry White of Amarillo, Texas, and Cynthia White of Garland, Texas; four brothers, Bill of Lewisburg, Mo., G.A. of Lake Dallas, Texas, Charles of Arlington, Texas, and Bobby of Iowa Park; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30-8 p.m. today.

Sallie White
BOWIE, Texas -- Sallie White, 91, of Bowie died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, in a Bowie hospital.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Chapel with the Rev. Paul A. Henderson, pastor of the Central Baptist Church of Bowie, officiating. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery under the direction of Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. White was born Feb. 8, 1907, in Bowie. She and Gardner Paul White were married July, 27, 1922, in Prairie Branch, Texas. He died Feb. 15, 1995. She was a homemaker and a resident of Bowie for 50 years. A daughter, Berlon Cunningham, died in 1998.
Survivors include a son, Paul of Bowie; a daughter, Margaret Summitt of Bowie, Maryland; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
The family will be at the funeral home today from 7-9 p.m. for visitation.
Marie Mosman
MUENSTER, Texas - Marie Angeline Seyler Mosman, 87, of Muenster died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, in a Muenster hospital.
Rosary will be said at 4 p.m. Wednesday at McCoy Funeral Home. Vigil will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church in Muenster with the Rev. Thomas Craig officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Mrs. Mosman was born Jan. 20, 1911, in Muenster. She and John Michael Mosman were married Dec. 27, 1937, in Sacred Heart Church in Muenster. He died Nov. 30, 1982. She received her bachelor of science and master of science degrees in science and chemistry. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Muenster and taught at many schools in the Muenster area.
Survivors include two daughters, Rebecca Catherine Edwards of Columbia, Tenn., and Carol Ann Hopfer of Keller, Texas; three sons, Timothy John of Los Angeles, Thomas Michael of Wylie, Texas, and Jerome Henry of Fort Worth; a sister, Odelia Lutkenhaus of Muenster; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

NOCONA, Texas - Bryant Thomas, 74, of Nocona died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, in a Wichita Falls hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Scott-Morris Funeral Home. Burial will be in Mountain Creek Cemetery under the direction of Scott-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Thomas was born April 24, 1924, in Fort Worth. He and Linda Jean Byers were married March 16, 1975, in Weatherford, Texas. He was in the Navy during World War II. He was a printer and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Paula Cox of Tacoma, Wash.; two sons, Gary of Keeter, Texas, and Terry of Tacoma, Wash.; two stepdaughters, Lisa Terry of Vernon, Texas, and Texanna Wood of Roy, Wash.; a sister, Verna Mea Meadows of Mineola, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Lesley Hubert Bell
BOWIE, Texas -- Lesley Hubert 'Hess' Bell, 87, of Bowie died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, in a Bowie hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Chapel with the Rev. Charles Reed, an Assembly of God minister, officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Cemetery.
Mrs. Bell was born Sept. 30, 1910, in Stephenville, Texas. He and Lorene Frachiseur were married Oct. 22, 1955, in Clovis, N.M. Mr. Bell was a Pentecostal. He was also a house painter and an avid gardener.
Survivors include a daughter, Nanci Swindle of Watauga, Texas; two stepsons, Charles Roberts of Boyd, Texas, and David Roberts of Keller, Texas; a stepdaughter, Melba Stone of Ardmore, Okla.; three sisters, Gladys Leek and Irene Poe, both of Bowie, and Charlotte Bell of Denton, Texas; two grandchildren; and 12 step-grandchildren.

John Austin Craver Jr.
JACKSBORO, Texas - John Austin Craver Jr., 77, of Pinehurst, N.C., died Aug. 11, 1998, in Pinehurst, N.C.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Antelope Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Coker Funeral Home.
Mr. Craver was in the Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Lurlene Patton Craver of Pinhurst; two sons, David Ray of Millsap, Texas, and John Austin III of Tulsa, Okla.; and four grandchildren.
James Donald Langston
JACKSBORO, Texas - James Donald Langston, 72, of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, died Saturday, Sept. 26, 1998, in Prescott, Ariz.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Coker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mr. Langston was born April 22, 1926, in Jacksboro. He and Virginia Gilley were married Oct. 6, 1946, in Jacksboro. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He was a retired executive vice president of Exxon Corp. He was a member of Fort Richard Masonic Lodge, AAPG, Geology Foundation and Jacksboro High School Hall of Fame. He was an alumni of University of Texas. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife; and a brother, Gordon of Mesa, Ariz.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.
Mildred Lucille Poole
QUANAH, Texas - Mildred Lucille Poole, 68, of Quanah, Texas, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, in a Hardeman County hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Spangler, minister of Trinity Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Goodlett Cemetery under the direction of Price-Jackson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Poole was born Feb. 21, 1930, in Luther, Okla. She and Joe Poole were married June 12, 1947, in Guthrie, Okla. She had lived in Hardeman County since 1948. She was a homemaker and a retired supervisor for De Long's Sportswear. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Sharon Carroll, Delores Smith and Janet Spangler, all of Quanah, and JoAnn McCoy of Caldwell, Texas; one brother, Charles Lowry of Guthrie, Okla.; four sisters, Nellie Bumgarner, and Mary Butler, both of Wellston, Okla., Alice Harrold of Elgin, Okla., and Ina Townsley of Oklahoma City; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

James 'Frosty' Bost
James 'Frosty' Bost, 73, of Wichita Falls died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, in a local hospice center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Owens & Brumley Chapel with the Rev. Jack Dial, pastor of Evangel Temple Assembly of God, and the Rev. Paul Kuykendall, associate pastor of Evangel Temple Assembly of God, officiating. Burial will be in Petrolia Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mr. Bost was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Petrolia, Texas. He and Doris Warren were married June 21, 1947, in Seymour, Texas. She died Sept. 6, 1997. He had retired from Merchants Motor Lines after 38 years. He was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include a son, Carl Bost of Wichita Falls; three daughters, Julia Spain of Burkburnett, and Janice Williams and Margaret Cannon, both of Wichita Falls; a sister, Margie Brown of Wichita Falls; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Evalea White
Evalea White, 62, of Wichita Falls died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Owens & Brumley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bobby Christmas, pastor of Allendale Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Crestview Cemetery.
Mrs. White was born Sept. 13, 1936, in Charlie, Texas. She was the office manager at Mobile Phone of Texas for 20 years. She had worked for Pioneer Restaurants. She was a Baptist. She was a lifetime resident of this area. A son, William G. White, died in January 1969.
Survivors include two sisters, Billie Reed and Pauline Chambliss, both of Wichita Falls; a brother, Jerry Gillispie of Lufkin, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.

Robert E. Schwartz
Robert E. Schwartz, 66, of Wichita Falls died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, in a Houston hospital.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lunn's Colonial Chapel with Rabbi Lawrence Jackofsky of Dallas officiating.
Mr. Schwartz was born Jan. 19, 1932, in Waco, Texas. He and Joan Glass were married Jan. 3, 1960, in Amarillo, Texas. He served in the Navy. He was a member and past president of the University Kiwanis Club, the Southwest Football Officials Association, the Wichita Falls Heritage Society and the Wichita Falls Advertising Federation. He served on the Wichita Falls Parks Board and was a supporter of the Wichita Falls area Food Bank. He had lived in Wichita Falls for 18 years and was formerly of Monroe, La. He was a salesman for Advertising Specialties. He was a member of the House of Jacob.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jack of Dallas; a daughter, Shelly Dewoskin of Overland Park, Kan.; a brother, Jerry of Portland, Ore.; and three grandchildren.

Hassie Reese
Hassie Reese, 87, of Wichita Falls died Sunday, Sept. 27, 1998, in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Booker, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery under the direction of Wells Funeral Home.
Mrs. Reese was born Dec. 12, 1910. She was an elevator operator at a local bank. She was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church and was secretary of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include a sister, Irene Pate of Wichita Falls; two brothers, Cisero Collier of Bakersfield, Calif., and Eugene Collier of Boswell, Okla.
Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Rev. Martha Williams
The Rev. Martha G. Williams, 96, of Wichita Falls died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Crestview Cemetery with the Rev. Richard C. Moore, pastor of Faith Gospel Tabernacle, and the Rev. John James officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Williams was born March 2, 1902, in what is now Humphrey, Okla. She was a retired Pentecostal minister and she had worked with Luster Laundry Company of Plainview, Texas, for six years.
Survivors include three daughters, Geneva Castleberry of Tampa, Fla., Opal Morgan of DeWitt, Ark., and Betty Brown of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
James B. Barnes
COMANCHE, Okla. -- James B. Barnes, 82, of Stephens County, Okla., died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, in his residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Corum Baptist Church with the Rev. Bruce Humphries officiating. Burial will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Morehead-Goetz.
Mr. Barnes was born Jan. 4, 1916, in Diamond community. He and Lavern Box were married Jan. 14, 1934, in Oak College, Okla. She died in November 1997. He was a retired farmer and retired from Sun Oil. He was a lifetime resident of Stephen County. He was a member of Corum Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, Bill and Danny, both of Comanche; a sister, Alma Jobe of Houston; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Ella Mae King
CANYON, Texas - Ella Mae King, 83, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, in Amarillo, Texas.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at First Assembly of God in Canyon with Paul Henderson, pastor of Central Baptist Church of Bowie, Texas and the Rev. Billy Nickell, pastor of First Assembly of God Church of Canyon, officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery in Hereford, Texas under the direction of Brooks Funeral Directors.
Mrs. King was born Feb. 15, 1915 in Pauls Valley, Okla. She and Otis L. King were married June 20, 1939, in Matador, Texas. He died Nov. 30, 1981. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Canyon and of Canyon Senior Citizens.
Survivors include two daughters, Leoda Shaw of Amarillo and Patsy Riles of Bowie; five sons, Doyle King, Orvell King, both of Hereford, Jerry King of Amarillo, Donnie King of Canyon and Dorven King of Portales, NM; a sister, Dorcie Green of Balhinger, Texas; two brothers, Floyd Fowler and Curtis Fowler, both of Sunset, Texas; 23 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Victor Leon Cook
Victor Leon Cook, 63, died Tuesday, Sept. 29, 1998, at his Wichita Falls residence.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Crestview Memorial Park with the Rev. John Barton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Crestview.
Mr. Cook was born Jan. 23, 1935, in Sherman, Texas. He and Patricia Estes were married May 13, 1957, in Wichita Falls. He was business manager for the Plumber/pipefitters Union No. 389 for a number of years and was superintendent of Airco Mechanical. He was past president of PSF Credit Union. He served in the Army and moved from McKinney, Texas, to Wichita Falls in 1949.

Joe Clyde Booher
ENNIS, Texas - Joe Clyde Booher, 74, of Bailey died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 1998, in an Ennis nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Keever Chapel with the Rev. Bill McConnelee and the Rev. Haves White officiating. Burial will be in the Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary.
Mr. Booher was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Bailey, Texas. He and Eugenia Arnold were married Oct. 9, 1949, in Wichita Falls. In 1943, he joined the Army, serving in World War II. He was discharged in 1945. He was raised in Bailey and was a graduate of Bailey High School. He then attended Draughns Business College. After being discharged from the Army he was employed by William-Cameron Wholesale and Shamburger Lumber Co. He was also a Flintkote salesman. In 1960 he moved to Ennis, where he continued his employment with Flintkote. He retired in 1989. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and a charter member of the Evening Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife; a son, David A. of Memphis, Tenn.; two daughters, Karen Gonzales of Austin and Janet Raburn of Ennis; a brother, Marvin of Universal City, Texas; and seven grandchildren. The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today for visitation.
Cleo F. Grimes
CHILDRESS, Texas - Cleo F. Grimes, 90, of Childress died Thursday, Oct. 1, 1998, in Childress.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Johnson Funeral Home with Bill Mayes of Childress Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Tell Cemetery in Tell, Texas.
Mrs. Grimes was born April 1, 1908. She and Ray Grimes were married Sept. 29, 1933, in Childress. She worked for the Department of Human Services in Paducah and had taught in Pen Creek, Northfield and Tell communities. She was a member of Childress Church of Christ.
Survivors include several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Sandy Grimes of Childress.
