Orvan Estel Highley, 67, Milo, MO, passed away Thursday morning, December 7, 2000, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. He was born February 28, 1933, in Montevallo, MO, to James Miles Highley and Gertie Anne Rapp Highley. He married Rogene Stempel on October 9, 1987, in Miami, OK, and she survives of the home. Mr. Highley was born and raised in Montevallo. He worked a number of years in Kansas City before returning to Vernon County in 1977 where he spent the remainder of his life. He worked for a number of years for O’Sullivan Industries in Lamar, MO. Survivors in addition to his wife, Rogene, include one son, Warren Highley, Montevallo, MO; one daughter, Rosemary Micklich, Jerico Springs, MO; two stepdaughters, Lorie Tipton, Nevada, MO, and Julie Schwartz, Lincoln, NE; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Norman Highley, Nevada, MO, and Alvie Highley, Milo, MO; four sisters, Marjorie Turner, Montevallo, Virginia Summerville, Evelyn Oliver, state of Washington, and Helen Burris, Nevada, MO. He was preceded in death by one son, Wayne Highley, two infant grandsons; one sister, Roslia Roland, and three infant siblings. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 9, 2000, at Ferry Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry Wheeler officiating. Interment will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery, Milo, MO. Amy Dawn Herman, 17, Nevada, MO, passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2000, at Sheldon, MO, as the result of an automobile accident. She was born November 5, 1983, in Nevada, MO, to Donald F. Herman and Karen N. Lancaster Herman. Amy lived her whole life in Nevada. She was a member of the Church Of The Nazarene. She was a junior at Nevada High School. She worked at Dairy Queen in Nevada for the past year. Survivors include her parents, Don and Karen Herman, of the home; one sister, Darcy, of the home; paternal grandmother, Angie Geary, Nevada, MO; maternal grandparents, Stephen and Audrey Lancaster, Wenatchee, WA, and numerous aunts, uncles,and cousins. Funeral services will be Saturday, December 30, 2000, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church Of The Nazarene, Nevada, MO, with Rev. Carl Craig officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Glen V. Hereford, 75, Nevada, MO passed away Monday evening, October 1, 2001 at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada, MO following a brief illness. He was born March 28, 1926 in Vernon County, MO to the late Burl O. Hereford and Alta Lou Hereford Gowin. Mr. Hereford was born and raised in Vernon County and lived his entire lifetime in this area.. He attended school in Horton, MO. He had a fascination for railroading and trains. He attended regularly the First Christian Church in Nevada. He leaves behind many friends. Survivors include one cousin, Frances Hunt, Joplin, MO. Along with his parents, one infant brother, Eugene Hereford preceded him in death. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 4, 2001 at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, MO with Dr. Eldon Shaw officiating. Thelmo Henley

Thelmo Robert Henley, 90, Prescott, KS, formerly of Horton, MO, passed away Wednesday evening, April 4, 2001, at Prescott Country View Nursing Home, Prescott, KS, following a lengthy illness. He was born October 16, 1910, in Prescott, KS, the son of Robert T. Henley and Muzy Gates Henley. He married Anna Catherine Leveling on August 10, 1937, in Nevada, MO. She preceded him in death on July 11, 1989. Mr. Henley was born in Prescott, KS, and grew up in Sprague near Rich Hill, MO. He lived most of his adult life in the Horton area where he farmed all his life. He also worked for the Missouri Highway Department in Nevada for 20 years. Survivors include two sons, Robert Henley, Mesquite, TX, and James Henley, Pleasant View, TX; two daughters, Cathy Weatherman, K.C., MO, and Mary Miller, Butler, MO, six grandchildren, and one great-grandson. In addition to his wife, Anna, he was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and three sisters. Funeral services will be Saturday, April 7, 2001, 11:00 a.m. at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Nevada, MO. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends Saturday 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Mary Hebeler

Mary Irene Hebeler, 93, Kansas City, MO, formerly of Deerfield, MO, passed away Tuesday morning, March 13, 2001, at the White Oak Terrace Care Center in Kansas City, MO, following a lengthy illness. She was born February 9, 1908, in Vernon County, MO, to John Quincy Moberly and Della Feree Moberly. She married Raymond W. Hebeler on March 26, 1931, in Harrisonville, MO, and he preceded her in death on August 1, 1992. Mrs. Hebeler attended the Richards High School. She was a lifelong resident of Vernon County. She and her husband moved into Deerfield from the family farm and operated the Hebeler Store in Deerfield for many years. Survivors include one son, Don Hebeler and wife, Margaret, Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren, Maryann Detherage, Dawn Roberts, and husband, Brian, all of Kansas City, MO, Teresa Wagoner and husband, David, Atlanta, GA, and Karen Hebeler, Anaheim, CA; four great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. In addition to her husband, Raymond, she was preceded in death by one brother, Brian Moberly. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 17, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO, with Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Deerfield Cemetery, Deerfield, MO. Walter Hayes

Walter P. Hayes, Sr., age 80 of Nevada passed away on Tuesday morning, July 31, 2001, at the St. Joseph’s Health Center in Kansas City, MO, following a brief illness. He was born on April 17, 1921, in Gainsville, MO, to Walter H. Hayes and Pearl May Watson Hayes. He was married on July 7, 1946, in Mound City, KS, to Kathryn Elizabeth McDowell and she preceded him in death on December 12, 1995. Walter was a graduate of Ft. Scott, KS High School in 1940. He served in the Army during WWII in the European Theater in Troop 342 Company C. Walter was a businessman in Nevada for many years. He was manager and part owner of the Village Market in Nevada from 1967 until his retirement in 1987. His memberships include the BPO Elks #564 in Nevada, the Osage Masonic Lodge #303 where he was a past master, the American Legion, VFW, and the Tri-County Genealogical Society. Survivors include one son Walter P. Hayes, Jr. of Nevada; two daughters, Mary Ann Rooney of Paola, KS, and Bonnie McCord of Nevada; six grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Kennedy, Garden Grove, CA, and Roxanne Crosland, Pismo Beach, CA. In addition to his wife Kathryn, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy May Thompson, in 1999. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 2, 2001, at the United Methodist Church in Nevada with Rev. Steve Barth officiating. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery in Ft. Scott, KS. Friends may call from now until 9:00 a.m. on Thursday morning at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO. Harry Havens

Harry O. Havens, 91, Nevada, MO passed away Friday evening, January 19, 2001, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born December 20, 1909 in Midland SD to the late John Francis Havens and Maude Olivia Stafford Havens. He was married December 20, 1932 in Norton, KS to Vivian Marie Bailey Havens who survives. Harry was born in SD, but was raised in KS. After his marriage he moved to the Montevallo area and has resided in this area since. He worked for a time in the dairy barn at Nevada State Hospital. He also worked at Pohl’s Brickyard and part-time at May’s Feed Store. He also farmed for a lifetime. He was a member of the Nevada I.O.O.F. Lodge. Survivors along with his wife include three daughters, Marjorie Seitz, Nevada, MO, Sandra Thomas, Milo, MO, Connie Malarkey, Knoxville, TN; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada. Donna Lou “Balk” Hastings, 69, Nevada, MO passed away Tuesday morning, October 30, 2001, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born January 6, 1932 in Walker, MO to the late Dewitt Balk and Doris Spencer Balk. Ms. Hastings lived in Vernon County, MO virtually all her life. She graduated from Nevada High School. She worked as a cosmetologist at the Nevada State Hospital until her retirement in 1995. She was licensed as a cosmetologist in both Missouri and Texas. Survivors include two daughter, Sherry High, Kearney, NE, Karla Pike, El Dorado Springs, MO; six grandchildren, Brandon and Vanessa High, Justin, Jason, Melanie and Nathan Pike; two great-grandchildren, Ariellea and Gage Pike; two sisters, Linda Gilcrease, El Paso, TX, Patty Ostic, Albuquerque, NM. In addition to her parents, one sister, Janice Kepple, and one infant daughter, Robyn Dee McKee, preceded her in death. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 31, 2001 at Newton Burial Park with Ralph Satterlee officiating. R. Marie Hartley

R. Marie Zeiler Hartley, 88, Nevada, MO, passed away Wednesday morning, October 18, 2000, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a short illness. She was born June 4, 1912, in Butler, MO, to Albert Sidney Zeiler and Iva Susan Simmons Zeiler. She married Wilfred Hartley in 1951 and he preceded her in death. Mrs. Hartley was born and raised in Bates County. She lived most of her adult life in the Kansas City, MO, area. She spent 30 years as a beautician in Kansas City, MO, retiring in 1962. She came to Nevada in April 1992 to be near her daughter. She was a member of the Dunkard Church, Osceola, MO. Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Landreth, Milo, MO; two granddaughters, four great-grandchildren, two great-great-granddaughters; two brothers, William Zeiler, Pleasanton, KS, and Gearald “Bud” Zeiler, St. Joseph, MO and one sister, Ann King, Harrisonville, MO. She was preceded in death by one brother, Buford Zeiler, her parents, and her husband. Graveside services will be Saturday, October 21, 2000, at 1:00 p.m. at Newton Burial Park, Nevada, MO, under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO. James Hardin
Died On April 8, 2001
James Allen Hardin, 75, Milo, MO passed away Sunday morning, April 8, 2001 at Nevada Regional Medical Center, Nevada, MO following an illness of several months. He was born March 9, 1926 in rural Vernon County, MO to the late Elmer James Hardin and Hazel Marie (Renfro) Hardin. He was married January 9, 1947 in Columbus, KS to Audrey Lee Rupard. She passed away September 29, 1998. Mr. Hardin was a veteran in the United States Army serving in the Philippians during WW II. After his marriage he moved to Wall Lake, IA and later to Odebolt, IA where he farmed for several years. He returned to the Walker area in 1964 where he farmed 160 acres along with driving a truck for a company in Rich Hill, MO. He moved to Milo, MO in 1975 and lived the remainder of his lifetime there. Survivors include one son, Mervin Hardin, Forgan, OK; two daughters, Linda Longstreth, Walker, MO and Pamela Wallace, Walker, MO; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Lena Vaughan, Shawnee Mission, KS. Besides his parents and spouse, one son, Dwayne Allen Hardin and one sister, Ethel Baldwin, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at Milster Funeral Home, Nevada, MO with John Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Walker, MO with full military honors provided by the Missouri Military Honors Program. Joseph Hall

Joseph Hall, age 82, Nevada, MO, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 22, 2000, at Beverly Health Care in Nevada following a lengthy illness. He was born October 11, 1918, in Webb City, MO, to Grover Cleveland Hall and Grace Wilson Hall. He married Annie Mae Crider on February 6, 1946, in Bexar County, TX. She preceded him in death on May 5, 2000. Mr. Hall was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church, Milo, MO. Survivors include three sons, Jim Hall, Lee’s Summit, MO, Grover Hall, Independence, MO, and Jessie Hall, Milo, MO; two daughters, Jo Ann Duncan, Nevada, MO, and Nina Gardner, Metz, MO; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Annie, he was preceded in death by eight brothers, one sister, his parents, and one son, Joseph Matthew. Graveside services will be Wednesday, October 25, 2000, at 11:00 a.m. at Olive Branch Cemetery, Milo, MO, with Rev. Jim Wilson officiating. Wilburn Hall

Wilburn Lee Hall, age 81 of Shawnee Mission, KS, passed away Sunday, December 17, 2000 at the Shawnee Mission, KS Medical Center following a sudden illness. He was born February 23, 1919 in Dade County to Guy F. Hall and Gracie D. Foursha Hall. He was married to Velma C. Moore on January 14, 1939 in Nevada and she survives of the home in Shawnee Mission, KS. Mr. Hall grew up in Dade County. He served in the Navy during WWII where he was stationed in the Phillipines. He lived in Vernon and Bates Counties for many years before moving to Kansas City in 1960. Mr. Hall spent his whole working life in the grocery business. In addition to his wife Velma, he is survived by four sons; Gary Hall of Fulton, MO, Bill Hall of Olathe, KS, Ron Hall of Shawnee Mission, KS, and Mike Hall of Kansas City, KS; three daughters, Ginny Absher and Cindi Hall, of Kansas City, KS, and Janelle Sparks of Belton, MO; fourteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and two sisters, Norma Lockhart, Longview, TX and Eva Burks, State of Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dee Hall. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2000 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with John Nichols officiating. Interment will follow at the Sheldon Cemetery, Sheldon, MO. Melba Haley

Melba Yvonne Haley, 76, Cumming, GA, passed away Wednesday, April 11, 2001, at Baptist Medical Center in Cumming, GA, following a short illness. She was born February 13, 1925, in Halls Summit, LA, the daughter of John Woods and Lula Mae Mitchell Woods. She married William D. Haley (formerly from Nevada) on February 7, 1945, in Shreveport, LA, and he preceded her in death on April 18, 1984. Mrs. Haley graduated from high school in Halls Summit, LA, and attended two years of business college in Shreveport, LA. She worked for NASA on Merritt Island, FL, for several years as a secretary. She was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Cumming, GA. Survivors include one sister, Jane Dunn and husband, Harvey, Sr., Cumming, GA; one sister-in-law, Betty Ann Pritchard, Nevada, MO; one nephew, Harvey “Bubba” Dunn, Jr. Cumming, GA; two nieces, Margie Craig and husband, John, and Mona Harrison and husband, Earl, all of Cumming, GA, several great-nieces and nephews, a host of friends, and loving in-laws. In addition to her husband, William, she was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Benny Woods. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, April 16, 2001, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nevada, MO, with Father Anthony Pileggi officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Stephen Gulliford

Stephen Dean Gulliford, age 51 of Nevada, died suddenly on Friday evening July 27, 2001. He was born on December 13, 1949 in Kansas City, MO to Donald Dean Gulliford and Alice L. Cullison Gulliford. He was married to Kerri Chrisenberry on March 1, 1985 in Nevada and she survives of the home. Steve was raised in the Bronaugh area and graduated from the Bronaugh High School in 1967. Steve worked for the Fram Corporation in Nevada for 16 years. He has worked the past 6 years for O’Sullivan Industries in Lamar, MO as a customer service representative. He was a member of the Nevada Elks Lodge #564. Steve was an avid fast-pitch softball player in Nevada for many years. Survivors in addition to his wife Kerri include 3 daughters, Melanie Bradley, Nevada, Stephanie Swearingen, Nevada, and Kelsie Gulliford, Nevada, 2 sons Nathan Gulliford and Beau Gulliford, both of Columbia, MO, nine grandchildren, Matthew, Aaron, Kalen, Regan, & Logan Bradley, Lauren and Brooke Silvola, and Jaden and Carter Swearingen, and his mother Alice Gulliford of Nevada. He was preceded in death by a son, Brad Chrisenberry and his father. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2001 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Wes Anderson officiating. Georgia Fern Griffin, 82, Nevada, MO, passed away Friday morning, June 1, 2001, at Nevada Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness. She was born February 26, 1919, Sheldon, MO, the daughter of Edward G. Fowler and Matilda Jane Beisly Fowler. She married Theodore Griffin on November 22, 1961, in Glendora, CA. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1992. Mrs. Griffin was born and raised and spent virtually her entire life in this area. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Sheldon, MO. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Survivors include three daughters, Janie Fode, Anaheim Hills, CA, Jeanie Conte, Simi Valley, CA, and Susie Brown, Houston, TX; one stepson, Eugene Griffin, Nevada, MO, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Althea Humphrey, Nevada, MO; four brothers, Willis, Floyd, and Beverly Fowler, all of Sheldon, MO, and Clinton Fowler, Medford, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents and seven siblings. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2001, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO, with Dr. William Cox officiating. Mina Greer

Mina Margaret Greer, 90, Nevada, MO, formerly of Irwin, MO, passed away Tuesday evening, April 24, 2001, at Beverly Health Care in Nevada following a lengthy illness. She was born April 22, 1911, in Barton County, MO, the daughter of Shirl Wood Davis and Maggie Smith Davis, the 4th of 10 children. She married Floyd “Buster” Greer on September 17, 1928, in Girard, KS. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1970. Mrs. Greer was born and raised in Barton County. She retired from the United States Postal Service after serving 22 years as the Postmistress in Irwin, MO. Mina Greer is survives by one daughter and son-in-law, Marlyn and H. Dayton Long, Nevada; one granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Marla Kay and Kenny Snead, Nevada; one great-grandson, Brett Snead; two brothers, Jack Davis Lamar, and Jude Davis, Jasper, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Clint Davis, Pat Davis, Bill Davis, Andy Davis, and Abe Davis and two sisters, Reba Holtzen and Leota Phipps. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, April 27, 2001, at the Lake Cemetery, Lamar, MO, with Rev. Steve Teel officiating. Wendall “Wimpy” Glen Gray, 75, Nevada, MO, passed away Tuesday morning, April 3, 2001, at Moore-Few Care Center, Nevada, following a lengthy illness. He was born January 22, 1926, in Griggsville, IL, the son of William Doyle Gray and Stella May Northup Gray. He married Virginia Lee Flournoy on December 12, 1975, in Miami, OK. She survives of Carthage, MO. Mr. Gray worked for the Nevada City Fire Department for many years. He also owned and operated Wimpy’s Trash Service from 1975-1982. He was a member of Pine Street Baptist Church, Nevada, the Nevada Eagles Lodge, and a charter member of the VFW in Carthage and Nevada. Wimpy was a Navy veteran of WWII with numerous homors. Survivors in addition to his wife, Virginia, include one son, Lloyd Dirck, Joplin, MO; five daughters, Vikki Clyburn, League City, TX, Brenda Aydelott, Booneville, AR, Joyce Snodgrass, Carthage, MO, Phyllis Dittmar, Okmulgee, OK, and Janice Dirck, Galena, KS; 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Gray was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Teri Annette, age three; one brother, Walter Gray, and three sisters, Jackie Rumple, June Lehr, and Helen Cline Puckett. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 5, 2001, at 1:00 p.m. at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO, with Rev. Paul Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery, Ft. Scott, KS, with military honors performed by the Olson-Frary-Burkhart VFW Post 1165 of Ft. Scott. Friends may call now and until the hour of service and the family receives friends Wednesday, April 4, 2001, 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Liver Foundation in care of Ferry Funeral Home.

Juanita Graves
Died On April 3, 2001
Juanita L. Graves, 84, Belton, MO, formerly of Nevada, MO, passed away Tuesday evening, April 3, 2001 at Beautiful Savior Nursing Home in Belton, MO following a lengthy illness. She was born July 24, 1916 in Carthage, MO to the late Carl J. Smith and Mattie D.(Bowman) Smith. She was married in 1957 to Eugene R. Graves. He preceded her in death March 18, 1963. Mrs. Graves moved to Nevada, MO in 1951. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nevada and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was employed by Nevada Regional Medical Center as a cook and retired in 1978. She moved from Nevada in 1996, spending the remainder of her life in Bristol Manor, Raymore, MO and Beautiful Savior, Belton, MO. Survivors include one daughter, Shirley R. Behm and husband Del, Bradenton, FL; three grandchildrern, Jodi Cummings, Belton, MO, Lynn Behm and wife Orlena, Harrisonville, MO, Tricia Miller and husband Bill, Overland Park, KS; six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Taylor and Britton Cummings and Kristina, Laura and Ali Behm. Along with her parents and spouse, Mrs. Graves was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Milster Funeral Home, Nevada, MO with John Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery in Nevada. Dannie Gonterman
Died On November 18, 2000
Dannie Lou Gonterman, age 72 of Nevada, passed away at her daughter’s home in Nevada following a lengthy illness. She was born on August 24, 1928 in Borger, Texas to Carl C. Cox and Lela V. Mayfield Cox. Dannie was a graduate of Sheldon High School in 1947. She was a registered nurse and worked for the Nevada State Hospital for 30 years retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Sheldon, the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, the White Shrine, the Business and Professional Women, and the Eagles Auxillary all in Nevada. She is survived by one daughter, Teri Lou Pryor of Nevada, two granddaughters, Joetta Hart and Delyn Clark of Nevada, and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Ann Winter. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2000 at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Rev. Larry Black officiating. Interment will follow at Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Friends may call from now until the hour of service and the family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

Harry E. Gilbert Sr.

Harry E. Gilbert Sr., 72, of Nevada, Missouri was born July 31, 1928 in Larned, Kansas, the son of Harry R. and Elsie E. Bach Gilbert. He died July 17, 2001 at the Kansas University Medical Center. He was a graduate of Larned High School in 1946. He was a graduate of K.U. in 1950, receiving a bachelor's degree in personnel management. He was united in marriage to Bettylee Purdy May 12, 1950 in Kansas City, Kansas. She preceded him in death February 18, 1988. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was employed for 35 years and 4 months at Farm & Home Savings, first working in the Savings Department and the new Data Processing Department, then full-time in the Accounting Department. He retired in 1989 as Vice President and Treasurer. On February 14, 1991 he was united in marriage to June J. Haynes in Nevada, Missouri. He was a former member of the Nevada Lions Club, the Elks Lodge and the Nevada Country Club. He was also a member of the Nevada United Methodist Church, serving as a lay speaker. He was also a member of the Nevamo Investment Club. Survivors include his wife, June, of the home, two daughters, Patti Lee Fields of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, Terri Lynne Villafane of Nevada, Missouri, one son, Harry E. "Gene" Gilbert Jr. of Nevada, Missouri, one step-son, Andy Haynes of Prairie Village, Kansas, fifteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Friday July 20, 2001 at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Stephen Barth and Rev. Lester Thornton officiating. Burial will be at Newton Burial Park. Friends may call Thursday after 1:00 p.m. and the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. at the Evergreen Memorial Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church in care of Evergreen Memorial Chapel, P.O. Box 894, Nevada, MO. 64772.

David Rhys Germen
Died On January 22, 2001
David Rhys Germen, the son of Ellis and June Handley Germen, was born November 11, 1956 in San Pablo, California and passed away January 22, 2001 at St. Johns Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Missouri at the age of 44 years, 2 months and 11 days. Mr. German was united in marriage to the former Leslie K. Pullin August 1979 in Miami, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of the Fort Scott Community College School of Nursing. He was employed as a Registered Nurse until complications of kidney failure no longer permitted him to work. Survivors include his wife, Leslie, of the home, a son, Nathan Germen of the home, a stepson, Jason Long, of the home, a daughter, Connie Townsen of Idaho, his mother, June Germen of El Dorado Springs, Missouri, one brother, Martin Germen of Oregon, three sisters, Merry Bogart of Pinole, California, Rebecca Achord of Kuna, Idaho and Laurel Bryant of California. He was preceded in death by his father, Ellis Germen and one brother, Chris Germen. Private services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Evergreen Memorial Chapel. John Wesley "Jack" Garrison

John Wesley "Jack" Garrison, the son of John and Juanita Nahon Garrison, was born October 30, 1940 in Pittsburg, Kansas and passed away May 3, 2001 at his residence in Olathe, Kansas at the age of 60 years. He was united in marriage to the former Sharon N. Shaw June 23, 1961 in Bronaugh, Missouri. He was a self-employed welder. Mr. Garrison was a member of the Countryside Baptist Church in Olathe, Kansas. Survivors include his wife, Sharon N. Garrison, of the home, two daughters, Leanna Aubrey of Kansas City, Kansas, Shelley Paul of Lebanon, Missouri, five grandchildren, one sister, Sherry Swan of Denver, Colorado and his step-mother, Carole Garrison of Arcadia, Kansas. Funeral services will be Tuesday May 8, 2001 at 10:00 a.m. at the Olathe Bible Church, Olathe, Kansas. Graveside services will be Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh, Missouri with Pastor Mike Summers officiating. Friends may call at the Olathe Bible Church on Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Countryside Baptist Church in care of Evergreen Memorial Chapel, P.O. Box 894, Nevada, MO 64772.
